I heard "tribrunal" too!

Loretta Lane

G: "Artichoke Nigeria" R: "Right."

RemiTheNerd

Did Kate actually slide down the chute? She did look like a total badass! The start of J.I. Janeway lol her action shot foreshadowing Macrocosm I loved it! Also you guys had some very intimate scenes, I'm not surprised Megan said you were about to kiss lmao! It does look like that a lot lmao

SnazzyO

Megan’s not wrong, the Ho-yay was strong in the episode. And Janeway was pitch perfect as a no-nonsense leader.

SnazzyO

Ahhhh …. Robbie & Garrett… surely you KNOW the implications of a prison episode and people claiming other people was part of the writer’s intent. But despite that undertone, this episode is a ‘friends for life’ high point. I think no matter what the circumstances, these two will support each other through thick and thin. A great team-up, the stuff of legends.

Dee McGee

So, for $3000-$5000 dollars, your Tesla can go from zero to 60 one second faster??

Mark Scheuern

Quite a significant improvement. Doing upgrades to a IC car for a similar performance gain probably wouldn't be any less expensive.

Mark Scheuern

Cool that Robbie had a MINI Cooper Countryman. My girlfriend has one and I have a 2005 R53.

Lilith

oh my goodness it’s a long one !!

Matthew Osborne-Graham

Robbie is a good singer. I actually just watched the Chute tonight actually. It is an amazing episode!

Matthew Osborne-Graham

He does actually say tribrunal. good catch, I had to go back on Netflix and watch it again to try and catch it.

Katie Puterbaugh

That was so worth staying awake until 2:30am! Loved everything guys!

Jeremy Taylor

Tom and Harry, thrown in the clink They're beaten, starved, pushed to the brink They help each other hold on 'Til Janeway slides in, phaser drawn Their friendship stronger than any could think

Stephanie Baker

Excellent podcast. Especially getting Don McManus. I can’t believe how much I laughed when it’s such a negative and heavy episode (until the end)

Andrew Kyle

truly the episode that brought me into the Trek universe. Yeah, i'd seen loads...but this one...WOW...it's this one where i fell down the rabbit hole for good.

Mister T

I wonder if Zio controlled the anger after being ditched by Harry!!

Norman Buchwald

Zio may have been abandoned but at least didn't get shortly killed after (as far as we know) like Seven's father (in Dark Frontier).

Luz R

RSV stands for respiratory syncytial virus and it is a big deal in little babies. It can be super scary. I see lots of xrays of little babies with it. happens in the winter for the most part. Glad Carter did well with is.

Taisho Rose

When I first watched this episode it nearly made me cry. Rewatching it, it's still very harrowing and touching. It is SO different than all the other Voyager episodes, and the switch from the prison scenes back to the pristine, colorful scenes on Voyager feel quite jarring. The sort of desperate hopelessness that runs throughout, the gritty setting, and sepia-toned lighting and cinematography feel very much like a David Fincher film. 90's grunge aesthetic at it's best. I didn't have as much of an issue with the Zio chute halo scene. I think the visual symbolism added to the feeling of existential crisis. I think sometimes it's better to show than tell in this medium, even if it seems unrealistic, but maybe that's because I personally tend to gravitate towards surreal or stylized imagery. I believe Robert Pine makes another guest appearance as an episode of Enterprise as a Vulcan who does not believe in their traditional philosophy of emotional repression. There was an inside joke among the writers from TNG onwards regarding the number 47. In short, there's a tongue in cheek belief that 47 randomly appears more often than any other number so they put the number in scripts and in the background of every show, film and video game, even the Reboots. The production number of this episode happens to be 147, and Tom declares that they were accused of killing 47 people in a terrorist bombing. Thanks for delving into this episode so thoroughly! It's always been one of my favorites.

Rich Gross

Just a little correction on terrorist history: Yes, Timothy McVeigh was the one responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing, but he wasn't the one with the manifesto, nor was he the Unabomber. The Unabomber was Ted Kaczynski. The timing works for both, though. The Unabomber bombings were from 1978-1995, with his manifesto published in 1995, so I can't imagine the manifesto in the episode was not at least in part inspired by that fiasco.

Warren Stine

This was a very wonderful episode. My emotional investment in the characters of Harry and Tom went way up with this one. Tom's reaffirmation that Harry is a good person at the end is very uplifting. This episode really fills these two characters out. Glad you spent time discussing this.

GAY Kleven-Lundstrom

I must apologize because this was not a episode I would re-watched when it was shown. Now after Listening to this recap and extras I now have a new found appreciation and will re-watch this with new found eyes. Thank you for changing my perspective.

Christopher Collins

this was great hearing this behind the scenes stuff like Garrett getting hurt getting hurt in the knee, Garrett getting speed up while climbing. It was interesting how many got hurt 7 sick.

Christopher Collins

I love the ending of the episode with Tom Paris dialogue.

Irene Artho

I noticed the speeding up when I watched it after the podcast, but only because Garrett mentioned it.

Karen Chuplis

Without fail, I well up at the end of this ep. It just gets me. And also, there are just some really heart breaking moments. It's a really tough ep to watch, just because it is so good and so traumatic.

Hi. tech question for the peanut gallery. Is there any way to multitask - watching the video on my phone while also browsing web? YouTube has a feature that lets you minimize the video; but unsure about vimeo...

Stephanie G Williams

I just love you guys, but hey... no more leola root stew for Tom! Ewww! 😜🤣🤣🤣😁

Craig Drebit

Now why oh why didn't Tom crave a Pepperoni Pizza while in prison?!?!?!?!?! 😆🍕 PS: Is there a Tesla charging station in Robbie's building? My condo board says I have to pay for an install if I want an electric car 😖! So if I get one I'll have to charge it elsewhere. PPS: I'm also a monkey in the Chinese zodiac!

Jenny

At least on my iphone, yes - clicking on the video link from the email, it shoots me to the Patreon app's post of the episode, where I hit play. Then it's the PiP button just to the right of the X in the top left of the screen. (If you don't have the Patreon app downloaded (free), and the emailed episode link opens in the safari window, you hit play and then expand the video to full screen, THEN you have the PiP box up to the immediate right of the X at the top left corner.) For andriods, it looks like it works if you're watching vimeo in the chrome browser: https://nokiapoweruser.com/list-apps-support-oreo-picture-picture-mode-enable/

One of my all-time fav Voyager episodes. I always watch it when it comes on TV. Brilliantly acted by everyone, brilliantly filmed as well. I love the bromance between Harry and Tom, it's one of the best parts of Voyager. I've always said, you can have bad-ass aliens, kick-ass effects, brilliant story etc, but if you haven't invested in the characters and their lives, if you don't care what happens to them, it's all just so much window-dressing. Pretty to look at, but no gut-punch or edge of your seat emotion. Voyager cast are all amazing.

Andrew Kyle

oh and i can't keep myself from submitting my own two cents - Potatoes Scotland!

Kelly Bee (CaptainKathryn)

Always loved this episode. It's very emotional and well-acted and honestly Tom's words at the end make me tear up every time

TheDeltaFlyers

Yes, my building in Vancouver has a charger. And I had one at my house in GA. Will have to have one installed at my new home in UT. -Robbie

Heidi McLellan

I have always loved this episode, now after the podcast I love it even more. That final clip at the end! 🤣 Thank you Garrett and Robbie so much!

Chris Flores

YES I've been waiting for this episode. Can't wait to listen right now.

Mihaela Grasley

This was another amazing podcast episode, to complete one of the best Star Trek Voyager episode, and, for me, one of the best episodes in the Star Trek franchise. Your stories were captivating, emotional and crazy funny, I laughed with all three of you! Great chemistry between Don McManus and both of you, and I am sure this is the real, positive chemistry between three friends, not the one mentioned by Robbie, that may happen between characters / actors on screen. I also wanted to say that, again to me, this episode is about love, as Robbie said, about choices, as Don said, but I think it is also an introspection of survival, in the most dramatic situations, how low can one go without loosing his / her humanity? And at what point does one looses his / her mind when the only way of getting a bite of food is by slashing someone’s throat? What defines us as humans? Anyway, an excellent episode then and now! Thank you all three of you for making it happen - then and now!

Lisa Minnesma

Thanks for the guest star this week! I wasn't expecting anyone so that was a nice surprise! (Unless it was previously advertised and I missed that haha). It was an enjoyable interview/conversation! And great episode! You can really see the friendship chemistry when both you guys are the main A plot! Both in the show and when you discuss it on here. You can see the enjoyment and fun :)

Lisa Minnesma

And Garrett pointing out and explaining the mark that actors are to stand on was super interesting! Thanks for pointing that out with the girl guest star.

Lisa Minnesma

Also, Robbie said two actors can have chemistry together even if off camera they don’t get along or can’t stand each other. How?????

Stephanie G Williams

I imagine it was because they are all professionals. I could never tell that Jeri and Kate had issues, after all.

Miki Tracey

Thanks for getting Don on the podcast. That Zio character is REALLY compelling, it's like he had some Che Guevara thing going on. As I said before, I love the emotional ones...the ones that work the emotions (some tried and failed, but this one succeeded)

Navin Kiser

Learning a lot about acting, thanks for those behind the scenes information how things work. This knowledge will be useful someday, I hope ;-)

Charity Ponton

All the acting tips makes me wanna give it a try.. 45 isn't too old to start! One of my favorite actors ever, Alan Rickman got a late start. #midlifepower

Wow, I'm impressed how well Garret pronounces the Name Gunther. It sounds so german. Applause from the Guy in Germany. I would love to hear Garret speak some more German. Maybe there is an Episode that is a perfect opportunity for that in de future. S04E18 and 19.

Cass

Interesting discussion! The Tom and Harry friendship is great, and flipping the protector/older brother role was a great opportunity for developing the friendship. I also really like the idea of B'Elanna being there with Tom. As mentioned, her fighting ability and fierceness would have been interesting to see, especially as a flip to Tom protecting human B'Elanna in Faces. I also think it would have been interesting to see B'Elanna uniquely suited to deal with the anger/violent tendencies, as she's been battling that side of herself her whole life - perhaps she'd even be unaffected because of her experience balancing her Klingon and Human sides.

Nicole Eller

Says this video doesn't exist? Bummer...

Tiffiny Lawrie

I don't see it in any other comments so I wanted to say: the show Garrett was trying to remember with the food bricks is Snowpiercer

Donna S Runyon

For some reason I can't see this video

ST Fan CB

Its not what he was inferring but rather what he was implying. You then inferred what he implied. I used to say this incorrectly as well but learned from "The Big Bank Theory".

chesca

Don is so animated and he looks to be a cool person. The interview felt more like three buddies having a drink and reminiscing about the good times! Great interview!
