The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Sacred Ground. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars. They are joined by the writer of this episode, Lisa Klink, for a short interview to get her insight.

Sacred Ground:
Kes is injured when she accidentally commits sacrilege on an alien planet; in order to save her life, Janeway must go through a mysterious ritual that challenges her faith in science.

Robbie, so cool that you have that binder!!!!! You having that binder and the connection to the movie First Contact is really funny to me, because I have part of Frake's binder from First Contact. :)

1. A pacifier is a Binky. 2. You may be interested to know that although Star Trek seems to come at things from an atheistic or agnostic point of view, over the years a LOT of Christians have been avid Trekkies. As a Christian Trekkie myself, I am not sure why this is true. Perhaps it was Roddenberry's positive view of the future, which is what we all hope for someday.

Denise Yee

I wasn't quite a Christian yet when this episode aired, but when I rewatched many episodes of the different franchises after becoming one, I found them even deeper and more enjoyable 😁 I think Lisa Klink said she was an atheist when she wrote this one, and I find that fascinating!

This was a great episode. Definitely had vibes of DS9 and the profits for sure. Many similarities between the two. One of the things I really love about this podcast is that it makes me look at episodes in such a different way now. Paying attention to details that I never realized were there before. Thanks for giving us all a new perspective Robbie. The directors chair is fascinating for sure.

Elisabeth Westner

I think the winner for this episode was the audience who got to see Robbie's excellent directing. And the loser for this episode was the audience who never got to see Robbie's excellent acting again.

Thank you Garrett and Robbie for sharing your personal faith journeys.
