The Delta Flyers is a weekly Star Trek: Voyager rewatch and recap podcast hosted by Garrett Wang and Robert Duncan McNeill. Each week Garrett and Robert will rewatch an episode of Voyager starting at the very beginning. This week’s episode is Unity. Garrett and Robbie recap and discuss the episode, and share their insight as series regulars.

Unity:

There's a note of tragedy to this episode, to me anyway, and it's that after the reinitializing of the Borg cube and establising the cooperative, the individual of 'Riley' no longer exists

This is awesome! I just ordered one autographed. Can’t wait! 😊

I feel like the whole point of this episode was for the writers to squeeze in that awkward sex scene.

Totally LOVE that Garrett and Robbie have joined the J/C shipper train! As a shipper myself, I have always HATED this episode (no offense to the fabulous director, of course). It's no surprise that Robbie couldn't remember much happening in the ep before they watched it; nothing much really does happen. Oh, and also I hate that ep where Chakotay falls in love with the woman he can't remember (I think it's called Unforgettable?) for the same reason. Also also, for us J/C shippers, we're totally vindicated in the post-series novels. Robbie is right that they have a LOT more space for exposition and details in the novels. While they're no replacement for the actual show, they are still pretty fun.

I literally just opened this comment section halfway through the episode to comment on how it's so funny how they seem to have been converted into "shippers" 😂

I thought at some point there was a discussion about how humans stopped killing animals centuries ago, and the replicator was reconstituted matter (on TNG) so he could have eaten from the replicator and been a vegetarian.

Did anyone keep a running tally of the times Chakotay got fooled? He was fooled by Tuvok even before the series began, he was fooled by rogue Paris, he was fooled here, and this isn't the last time. If anyone on voyager have to be fooled, they call for Chakotay.
