Mr Bear

Not geeky at it. It was best Star Trek movie, and setup the Borg Queen for Star Trek Voyager!

Diana Meredith

I love you guys and the podcast but I feel like you need a Star Trek fan/nerd to explain some of these references and sci-fi storylines to you on the podcast. A lot of times you say something doesn't make sense but it totally does to those of us who are Voyager fans and have seen these episodes a bunch of times.

SpaceshipAddict

Sort of like Robbie saying,”I’m gonna use my phone a nerd lifeline and call so and so to explain this. They are the expert on time travel episodes…” 😆

SpaceshipAddict

Regarding the temporal variance of the torpedo. Kes did provide Janeway with that info at the end of Before and After. However, to explain why they don’t know it at the time of this episode: Voyager was changed after the first unshielded shockwave hits them. Seems logical to assume the information was also erased from this new timeline. Like perhaps this change also somehow changed Kes’ experience so that she never did time hopping and never learned of the krenim and therefore Janeway and crew were learning things for the first time. With Anorax changing the timeline even before the episode began, it could also explain why Janeway doesn’t even seem to know who the krenim are at all from the very first meeting. It’s a flimsy rationalizing but it seems to be the most logical resolution of the discrepancy.

Garrett, Robbie- in enterprise, a borg ship is discovered buried in arctic ice. The scientists are murdered by recovered drones who commandeer a ship and take off. After assimilating a second ship enterprise is called to pursue. Archer is gifted to destroy them. T'pol tracks a signal sent by the borg to the delta quadrant . So they DID lay groundwork in voyager- for enterprise.

Neil Dutton

The Borg were present at First Contact as they travelled back to 2063 in an attempt to stop First Contact following their loss in the battle of Sector 001, however they were prevented from doing so by the actions of Captain Jean Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise E (Star Trek : First Contact). Sorry that sounded REALLY geeky…😂

Neil Dutton

I always wonder as well if, after abandoning the Year of Hell as one long series arc, that provides the inspiration for season 3 of Enterprise? That whole series covers the Enterprise in the Delphic Expanse hunting for the Xindi weapon.

Ben

This is all true, but the thing seven is referring to is the movie Star Trek First Contact. Not that enterprise episode. The borg from that episode are left over from that movie though

I was watching the new Turner and Hooch show on Disney Plus and saw Robbie directed the final episode! I was so ridiculously happy!

Elias Nordling

Now that you mention it, the cork on the floor makes no sense. Being monstered is no reason to not sweep the floors, and if they are ready to recycle a clock, cork should be hard currency.

Tom Paynter

You guys never saw Star Trek First Contact - oh man 🤣

DogBlud

Glad to see the appropriate level of *tsk tsk*ing for forgetting First Contact LOL

Glam City Rocker

I forgot about that when I was writing my comment. Been a hot minute since I watched the movies and I just watched enterprise past couple years fresh in my mind. Anyway my point was the showrunners or writers and stuff DO lay groundwork for possible plotlines.

Marian Bieniek

Let's be fair. I'm sure both Garrett and Robbie have seen First Contact. They just haven't seen it multiple times like we have!😄

marsbitrona

It’s surprising to hear that Deep Space Nine was a more serious set, since I think of it as the funniest of the Berman-era Treks. The subject matter was more serious, but comedy played a big role in the series. As for the most immature Star Trek cast, I think TNG has you guys beat. If the stories I’ve heard are true, they had directors walking out because the cast wouldn’t settle down until the moment they called action.

Justin

I’ve heard Avery Brooks liked to keep things very professional on set.

Elias Nordling

You guys need to use the excuse "I don't remember, maybe it happened in an alternate timeline" more.

Noel

I enjoyed the podcast. I'm not surprised that Robbie gave this 6. I've listened to other podcasts over the years and most of them prefer one part over the other. I don't think it would work for a year. I love this 2 parter and it's a 10 for me.

Elisabeth Westner

Haha, right? My VOY friend keeps sending me texts about it and I'm like, well, they were busy, of course they didn't see First Contact!

Elisabeth Westner

I'm sure at least Garrett has and if Robbie has I'm not surprised he's forgotten every second of it. :-D

Elisabeth Westner

Now that Robbie and Garrett have watched part 2, I just want to comment on his statement that he hoped it would all be redeemed in part 2. Nope, sorry dude. Part 2 has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Sigh.

Peter Lucas

If the story had gone on all season, it probably would have looked something like Season 3 of Enterprise, focusing on the charecters having to make decisions that are increasingly morally questionable and how tough situations grind everyone down. That would not have been right for Voyager at this point, although certainly there is a tone in Season 4 of greater conflict and struggle in the crew's journey home after a reasonably easy ride for the first 3 seasons.

Happy Birthday, Brittany Ristaino

The Krenim are the guys Kes warned the Capt. to stay away from in the alternate the timeline in the episode by “Before and After”

Happy Birthday, Brittany Ristaino

that’s why they sound familiar. So they’ve kind of had to deal with the before or at least the audience has.

David Janicek

Same, and as some of the show runners did go on to ENT, I more believe that we the case

Glycerin is usually the liquid used for shine. It’s sticky and rather unpleasant.

Megan Moore

Fantastic episode. I’m not going to explain why the episode makes sense as others have already done so. But I was thinking it while watching the podcast every time Robbie said something didn’t make sense or was confusing lol. Because it makes sense and is not confusing at all.
