OMG Robbie you didn't mention that Kate touched Robert's face again, in fact, started at his boot, then took his hands, then placed her hand over his heart, then right shoulder then his cheek! Like omg! J/CForever! lol Also at the end when Janeway leave him to got to the holodeck she does like this little cute jab to his stomach! It's always so cute to see Garrett & Beltran, he really is you're big bro isn't her Garrett? Robbie's winner haha J/C Shippers again!

SnazzyO

I liked individual scenes but the flow was …chaotic

Dee McGee

I totally predicted Robbie's synopsis 😂

Yeminem

It's not true that Chakotay never showed an interest in boxing or martial arts. The episode Tsunkatse where Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson guest starred had Chakotay basically ringside and giddy for that brutal event; until he saw Seven in the ring. Bit hypocritical that he was basically promoting Tsunkatse to anyone who would listen on Voyager, and watch strangers beat each other up, but not Seven.

Andrew Murray

So Seven's brought order...to Chaos?

Andrew Murray

I'm kind of thinking Boothby instead of literally being a boxing coach is more like Chakotay's spirit guide role (not an animal spirit guide) in the kind of eerie/surreal you-don't-know-if-its-real-or-just-chaotic-space-messing-with- your-head kind of stuff given his vision quest happens in the midst of the chaos. Also, given it was Chakotay's holodeck program, why not just have Boothy be the boxing coach character.

Andrew Murray

How was it established that Harry played clarinet, as opposed to any other orchestral instrument or any other instrument? Could just as well have been a pianist with a Steinway grand in his quarters?

Christopher Collins

I never realized a real boxer was portraying the alien boxer in this episode.

Andrew Murray

Would you really call a Marquis leader "peaceful"? I would say his boxing interest fits quite nicely.

Andrew Murray

They were in Chaotic space; that explains the chaotic editing.

Samantha

This is an absolute mad episode, which I suppose is fitting. Robert is hilarious tho.

Andrew Murray

In the Trek (and specifically Voyager) universe, there was that episode where Seven is fighting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.....Tsumatse....(something like that was the episode name) kind of boxing and wrestling and whatever all rolled in to one and Voyager crew were in the audience enjoying the spectacle so you can' really say "violent sports" are not a thing in the 24th century. Even that very bad S1 TNG ep when Tasha has to fight....so Trek's not afraid to portray violent sport - whether for the story in literal terms, or simply as a metaphor or commentary on current social issues as Trek is known for.

Christopher Collins

That cool that Robert would was the one who wanted Ray Waltson to come back.

Andrew Murray

Kes would boil your brain with her telekinesis.

Andrew Murray

We already know Janeway hates the "Sir" title as we found out in "Caretaker" when she requests Harry call her "Captain" or "Ma'am".

Estelle Keller

I like hearing from Robert Beltran. And well Harry playing the clarinet was in the pilot. I thin Paris was using sir as punishment for her attitude towards him in a subtle way.

The Real Andrew Kim

I would watch a Star Trek: Boothby series, you could see him shape and mentor all of the star trek captains when they are cadets at the academy. You could even take it even further where we find out he's a Traveler like Wesley so he could even go back all the way to Archer XD

Moonglade

J/C fight over cream n sugar in Janeway's coffee - coming after the famous "commbadge twiddling, red alert" scene, I guess Chakotay really doesn't know Janeway 😅

Utopia Science Fiction

This episode became a lot more enjoyable when I started thinking about it as "If Salvador Dali wrote a Star Trek Episode." (the hair especially seems rather surreal on the way it keeps morphing between two styles) Thanks for another amazing podcast episode!

ST Fan CB

Have always hated this episode. Too many things that dont make sense, I dislike boxing and it was rip off of the TNG episode "Night Terrors" where the ship is stuck and Troi has to communicate with the aliens to get them out. Proper sayings to help you out: 1. The shoe is on the other foot 2. The tables have turned Intro comment: Always remember that the foot that you step on now, may be connected to the ass that you have to kiss tomorrow. Ned Romero played a Klingon in the TOS episode "A private little war". He was also in an episode of ST:TNG where he played a Native American in "Journeys End" where Wesley Crusher became a traveler. As a side note, he was also in the Original Battle Star Galactica. Doctor to Chakotay: You gotta get the the eye of the tiger to save us Chakotay, the eye of the tiger!!! It's the eye of the tiger It's the thrill of the Dela Quadrant Rising up to the challenge of the alien of the week And the last known survivor of chaotic space Stalks his prey like a Hirogen sergeant And fighting Kid Chaos with the eye of the tiger

This episode was arguably a dud. I know a lot of fans didn't really care for it. I. for one, loved it in that it was a Chakotay centered episode. I do agree with Robbie in that there should have been a J/C caring scene where she shows true concern and fear for Chakotay's wellbeing and says something like: I can't lose you...you mean too much to me and to this crew! You are my rock! I also loved the boxing part of it as well and didn't realize it was choreographed..that's fascinating! And I don't blame Beltran for not taking his shirt off. He was like: HELL NAW! I ain't doing none of that kind of garbage! LOL! And I too agreed with Garrett when he said that Chakotay screamed the loudest ever in this episode! I remember when I first saw it how shocked I was at that moment. I was thinking: OMG, he's in pain! Then I was like: what is going on? LOL! It was a fun episode I think.
