Jake for the fashion contest. Seriously though, civilian fashion especially in ST:TNG was h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e.

Ja Dav

According to the LCARS screen, many of the characters on The West Wing died on Voyager. Who knew?

Craig Drebit

Personally I think Mulgrew was deliberately playing that scene as fidgety as possible. She's delivering news that Seven is dying and nothing can be done. It would be awkward as hell!

Andrew Murray

That's what I always thought was funny about the modern trek - the computer is tracking your com-badge not their bio-signature. I mean the old 'gag' has been used many times "such and such is in Engineering", so-and-so is in TrTransporter room 2" etc. WHere a crew member or someone has escaped custody or whatever, and when Janeway asks "Computer, locate xyz", the computer responds with the location of what it thinks is the person but is usually just the com-badge left on a bench or console. Can the computer actually tell one life sign from another - I mean can it determine if the person is Tom Paris or Harry Kim or Janeway? The computer might be able to tell if one is breathing, conscious or otherwise etc but can it tell one person from another? I've seen many eps where a crew member has lost a com badge and it's not just a matter of "lock on to XYZ's life-signs and beam them aboard" On rare occasions, I think Torres has done a "Skeletal transporter lock" but in general they do rely heavily on the com badge signal. According to Robbie, this episode lives up to its name Imperfect.

Andrew Murray

Torres might be a gifted engineer but isn't she also an academy drop-out?. I seem to recall she didn't graduate, being that she argued with her instructors all the time, but as Janeway points out at some point, those instructors (one or two anyway) secretly loved Torres challenging and arguing with them, and didn't think of her as argumentative, but just her way of trying to look at things from a different perspective. But I'm sure that because of her Klingon-human nature, that didn't do her any favours - either she chose to leave or was kicked out. She joined the Marquis, and pretty sure the academy didn't welcome her back.

Samantha

Definitely with Garrett. Great episode.

Andrew Murray

I agree, some plot points are out of place for this ep due to its airdate being out of order. That said, they could have kept some elements,e.g. a farewell to the borg children, and Icheb's initial desire to enter Starfleet Academy and maybe a hint of something being wrong with Seven, but not a full explanation until a later ep.

Trine Våbenø (Triyan)

My missing scene is a missing episode, where the Borg children find their people. And I realized why I really like this episode, Icheb is great in it, and it made me love his character even more.

sab ewell

I just always watch this episode after Drive in my rewatch it makes the continuity issues less distracting lol and that's not a spoiler now that you've seen Drive already :)

David Turner

Whilst I would agree it’s not a go to episode id generally watch, I wouldn’t say it’s a bad episode by any means. There are flaws with it for sure but not horrendous ones. Spoiler alert! In light of what happens to Icheb in Picard, needlessly I like to add, this episode is quite sad.

ST Fan CB

I did not even remember this episode even though I have watched Voyager over and over when aired up until now. Just not a memorable episode or one that is not played a great deal in syndication I guess. Translation of Sevens mess hall scene: "Her seizure game was not on point" Surprisingly, I agree with about 90% of RDM complaints about this episode. The only things I don't agree with are the comments about lack of emotion and the point below. The continuity errors created by moving around the air dates of episodes is unconscionable and shows that the executives had no clue what the fans wanted or expected. The catch of Torres working the panel and looking at the wall like there was something there was funny as hell! The Doctor was NOT talking to the back of Seven's head except for one line. She actually turned her body so that they could talk face to face. Don't exaggerate. Here are 3 more point deductions for RDM: How can Seven "reject" the new component? It is not a biological piece of flesh that has different DNA, etc from the donor but is only a piece of hardware. Its like saying a tire from one car gets "rejected" from another car. The Doctor says the node has been off line for too long but then why is it glowing green and clearly working? Wouldn't Seven or Icheb already know that a node from a dead drone would not work in the first place? Fashion show awards: Icheb - 1st Place, Jake Sisko - 2nd Place, Wesley Crusher - Vomit

Karen Chuplis

I’m sitting here laughing. While I do see the directing points I’m like 100 percent opposite that there is no emotion or the scenes like Janeway’s and Seven where Janeway is talking about a friend is not earned I’m just like yeah it is earned. I guess it’s not friend in like bosom buddies sitting and having coffee but she is highly invested in Seven and all her quirks. I have to laugh at how different people can perceive something. There are times I watch this ep and it brings me to tears. I think it’s highly emotional, even the borgy parts. I kind of wonder if frustration with the directing colored everything else about it.

Craig Drebit

especially if you take it like the Vulcans were depicted in Muse. Seven and Icheb may not be showing emotion, but we know that they are definitely feeling things on the inside; and for the audience, that's even more heart wrenching!

Laura Robles

I always wondered how they could tell where the family members that didn’t have com badges were. Was there a way to tell if something happened to them? And why doesn’t the computer alert them when someone is sick, dying or kidnapped?

Stephanie

You actually see the wedding ring in whole episode, once you know it is there

Gemma Laidler

More often than not I agree with Robbie and I'm totally with him on this one. Definitely not one of my favourite episodes and I believe a 3/10 to be more than fair!

Christinaof9

Well this was a disappointing pod lol. One of my favorite episodes and absolutely heartbreaking if you have watched Picard. This is one of the episodes that always makes me cry, especially after Picard, one of the most deeply emotional Voyager episodes of all 7 seasons, so I have no idea how Robbie can say void of emotion. There are so many special moments and points where relationships are strengthened and affirmed. Incredibly touching. I don't know what Robbie was watching lol. Has he forgotten the entire huge story arc of Janeway and Seven's special relationship? This episode was the culmination of so much relationship building between the two and showed a rare vulnerable side of the Captain and Seven. Icheb's sacrifice is so sweet, and noble. This is one of those Trek HEART episodes and I can't understand there being no understanding of this or even a mention of how important this episode is in Seven's future in Picard. But often the guys don't seem to get Seven's journey or the heart of her stories. Jeri acted this beautifully with just enough toughness vs vulnerability.

Laura Johnson

Saw that too….had read about it somewhere before and had to pause once all the names are up to see it, but they’re there.

Kassandra

As far as I recall there are quite some fan stories, in which Seven is visiting the Captain in Indiana and the Captain bringing Seven to Bloomington as well.

Stephanie

I usually find the Seven/Borg episodes disappointing and usually skip them in rewatch. They are both just so one dimensional, I honestly don't know how they came to be such well loved. When they first showed up in TNG they were scary but after that they became so watered down. I like where 7 has developed in Picard but let's be honest, on Voyager she was just Tits and Ass.

B obrien

Garrett and Megan .. it was nice to finally have a chance to meet you on the cruise. Megan thank you for all the great work You do on this podcast. 😀

Liz Lesperance

Great job again with this pod! 👏 Not the best episode, Loved the discussion and recap!

Shobha Kulkarni

The DeltaFlyer is actually a 1000pc jigsaw puzzle. That's how easy and quick it is to put it back together.

Samantha

yeah i kinda dipped out as soon as I saw robbie was just gonna pick it to death. lol The Seven/Icheb stuff is some of my favorite in the whole series.

Ericka Birkenstein

Not my soul leaving my body upon hearing J/P shippers called out 🥹

Heather Irwin

I'm giggling at the repeated Voyager flybys. Thanks for the video recap!

Ms Nike Morgan

I agree with Robbie about this episode.

Rachelle H

I agree with Robbie. Did not like this episode much

millymilsner

I actually really liked this episode!

Teressa

I agree with Robbie not a great episode. After seven seasons, you have to have some that just aren’t up to par. Also, I feel bad for Garrett because he seems to want to make up for the fact that Robbie doesn’t like episodes and that’s OK. Garrett is such a nice guy. He doesn’t want us to be disappointed but we can take it. Seems like a lot of average ratings are 7 point something. Not much nuance in the ratings during season 6 and 7. Kind of

Teressa

Coasting along to the finish line. Love this podcast. Trying to catch up

Teressa

before DS9 starts.

SnazzyO

The decision to air this episode so much out of order really showed a disrespect to the cast and crew who worked on Voyager. The continuity errors were large. Setting aside that major hit, there is much to like about the episode but the poor logic regarding Borg physiology and disregard for any sense of medical protocol was an issue. Things I really liked: - Janeway taking Tuvok and Paris - ‘Aye Sir!’ Which acknowledged that Paris was actively trying to save their behinds. Tom really ‘IS’ the Captain of the Delta Flyer - he just lets others borrow it. - The action sequence was very exciting - Icheb. What a sweetheart. I saw all the emotion even if spoken in Borg-tone. - B’Elanna hiding Seven Things that detracted: - it’s brain surgery. They needed to borrow the red surgical outfits from TNG. - The tweezers to handle the cortical implant were laughable in the face of no other sanitary procedures - We needed better Tecnobabble on the cortical implant. I can’t believe Janeway/Torres/Tuvol had one just the episode before. So many WTF’s. - Janeway had no business aiding brain surgery. B’Elana or Harry would have been better. So, while there were parts I really really liked, the medical elements were a major distraction.

Labrek

Janeway was a main science officer on her last ship though

Dee McGee

Megan's response to Garrett's enthusiastic reaction: *crickets chirping* I thought this episode was full of emotion. I agree that it doesn't make sense to move this episode up when the chronological episode was just one episode behind.

MG

Those really don't look like Kazon. They have actual hair!

MG

The doctor didn't say she was rejecting the new node. Her implants didn't adapt to it and were rejecting it.
