Hello Cine Wolves,

We are pleased to announce Season 2 of our Movie Mindset mini-series with Will & Hesse. Our hosts have programmed another 10 episodes of double features, each revealing another shining facet on the mysterious & infinite gem of "da movies." Additionally, we're offering a handy little streaming guide, so you can figure out where to catch up on these flicks before we get to them. Now, not every film on our schedule is immediately available for streaming or digital rental and/or purchase. But we know you guys are resourceful, you'll figure something out. Or just buy a DVD, physical media is back in a big way, you know.

Additionally, as we've mentioned, New Yorkers keep an eye out for a Season 2 premiere event at Littlefield on May 4th. We'll post here and on twitter as soon as tickets go on sale!

Repo man after hours ep goes crazy

Antonio Kaisen

*rushes to letterbox to get proper takes on these movies*

Nathaniel Weiner

Digital location guide is so nice. If ive already eaten the gummy now I don't have to peruse

Justin

I’m super excited for Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, since Will said he hasn’t seen any Fassbinder. It’s great

ploob

PERFECT BLUE!!

Zach H.

You do Fassbinder and don’t cover Querelle ? Boo.

Henry

What was the one Will said was the absolute must watch for movie aficionados?

Benjamin Mitchell

the inclusion of where we can easily find these movies is a godsend, thank you for that

Dillon Cummins

Night of the Hunter, with Robert Mitchum I believe

Kesha Credit

I am so happy we’re going to watch 1,2,3! “put your pants on Spartacus”

fried egg

screening happening in my neck of the woods! loves it

Henry

Danke schön

Peanut Horse

After hours mention 🫨🥵

Reece Coren

can we get a gen z version with movies that have come out in the last thirty years

brodie

I read NOT AVAILABLE TO STREAM IN THE US. Wills voice booms in my mind," STEAL IT FROM THE INTERNET LIKE A FUCKING ADULT."

Andrew

No, go fuck yourself

Anomalie

most of the old movies are on internet archive

plainwrap

If you haven't recorded the Walter Hill episode yet be sure to check out his screenplays because as a writer he has a singular prose style that is as clipped and tough as his movies. Very few write like Walter Hill. For example, 'Southern Comfort': https://thescriptsavant.com/movies/Southern_Comfort.pdf

Chris Wade

I will gently encourage Will & Hesse to add one (1) movie from the 21st century to next season, but also at least one silent era movie to compensate.

Reece Coren

my king. thank you chris ❤️

NLC

Same, closest thing we've got to a Kojima anime.

will michel

looking forward to the 12+ hours of pleasantly nodding along for the 10 or so seconds of references i understand

Felix

can you do this for videogame ?

Jaime Christley

For every movie that’s newer than the COVID plandemic, there needs to be one the Lumiere bros “actualities” or a Muybridge motion study. Will: wow, all four of the horse’s hooves really CAN be off the ground at the same time Hesse: totally

Pat

Best movie podcast. I’d listen to a weekly one if they ever decided to expand.

Thom

mm yeah. Hell yeah.

alec_irl

can’t wait to hear hesse’s thoughts on upstart hollywood exec griffin mill

James Browning

If you're in the Portland,OR area then head on over to Movie Madness to rent these films as well as a physical option and support for a local shop!

THEKILLERWHALE

I am wondering if Hesse will speak in a cockney drawl or maybe a kind of Limonese creole during the Cagney episode since Hesse immediately slips into James Cagney speech when impersonating literally any other accent.

TC

I love seeing Kanopy and Chapo come together.

MB Szes

Holy shit you freaks, love the underappreciated Walter Hill picks and cannot wait for the Repo Man/After Hours twinbill, brilliant

Jaime Christley

I'm a seasoned Hill-head and even so I haven't seen EXTREME PREJUDICE. Should remedy that.

matt joslin

anyone done one of these for season one?

Michael NWI

Gonna sound like a npr wine mom but also give a look at your local library.

Reeves

Patlabor is on archive.org if you wanna download

Talcum Gladwell

‘Repo Man’ is my both my favorite mindset and movie of all time. Can’t wait.

Corey Reynolds

I feel like I’m going to film school. And I love it!

Aram Fingal

Cmon guys do a Terrence Malick episode. Even if you both hate it we all wanna know.

Horse Badorties

Sounds great! For Season 3 I suggest "great movies promoted by The State": "Aelita, Queen of Mars", the Nazi "Munchausen", "Alexander Nevsky", that North Korean thing about the lady traffic cop, and other great movies where a somewhat insecure government says "we have so much culture, look at all the culture we got!". They hire the best and give them a ton of money, and the results are often spectacular.

Will Menaker

Please do tell, what movies would you like to see included?

Warbs

I appreciate the streaming guide, thanks!

Poppy Chulo

Neo Noir : The Usual Suspects(1995)/ LA Confidential(1997)

Poppy Chulo

In no particular category, I would assume these would be bundled in the shows style; The Killing (1956), The Thing (1982), Barry Lyndon (1975), Apocalypse Now (1979), The Asphalt Jungle (1950, John Huston!) Chinatown (John Huston double), Brando: The Missouri Breaks (1976) and Last Tango in Paris (1972), Cronenberg: The Fly (1986) and The Brood (1979) S Craig Zahler; (Bone Tomahawk (2015) and Dragged Across Concrete (2018)

Poppy Chulo

Mandy (2018), Yorgos Lanthimos (I know Poor Things was not good but his previous films are fantastic) The Favourite (2018), The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)

Mark Schneider

Great stuff, I look forward to it!! PS, thanks to the 2 of you (sort of) for turning me on to "Beau is Scared", some of the nastiest horror I've been exposed to in quite some time. I even dreamt about it after watching the 1st 2/3rds. "Mother" is one of the few Aronofsky films I've never seen, I imagine it is a similar horror Deep Cut.

Matthew Krueger

I can't remember the episode but I'm pretty sure it was a Movie Mindset ep and it was a Hesse joke... it was "Mother!; The Fabelmans; and Beau Is Afraid. Eff, Marry, Kill: The 'Your Mother' edition."

Jaime Christley

Poppy, you're really not far off from the spirit of the Movie Mindset series. If there are some titles on the schedule you aren't familiar with, or are familiar with but haven't seen, give them a shot. If you do, then, as Marsellus Wallace once said, you'll find yourself one smilin' motherfucker.

Poppy Chulo

Do you like the Usual Suspects? What did you think of it? Can you add it to the neo Noir episode?

Reeves

I haven’t watched it yet. I just always check the archive for stuff that isn’t easily available.

Russell Sugden

Do you guys take suggestions, because I think “The Little World of Don Camilo” would be a great film to review!

Me

Excited to fill in some movie mindgaps with this list!

Jenkum Terry

Was just going to post this but all of the movies that say not available to stream in USA can be found on the internet archive and probably most of the other movies can be found there for free as well.

sailor corellia

The only one of these that's heard of is Patlabor II. I am an old weeb. Fuck

Arthur Alvarado jr

Pat labor 2 by itself is a big treat but also Angel's Egg!!¡!!! June 5 can't arrive fast enough

getMAN

the original english dub for patlabor is underrated, translating the political themes perfectly, to bad it's hard to find.

Casey Kiesling

Cover the works of a real artist this season like Michael Bay

Jacob

Ali: Fear Eats the Soul is Eat. Pray. Love. for women that have at least a pack of cigarettes a day.

Wesley Seaberg

I was able to get almost all of these that I hadn't seen before on dvd or blu ray though interlibrary loans, which is free and you don't have to watch commercials

Don Tickles

Will and Hesse you need to do The Accountant

Eva Sativa

yes patlabor 2 is amazing, esp viewed through the lens of it having influenced kojima and MGS

Ben Reed

Oh God. That version is an abomination.

GoblinHitPoints

Hawks screwball ep is gonna be great. A lot of blindspots here for me, stoked

Morgan

If you google one two three 1961 film an hd version is available to stream free on the internet archive

Jenkum Terry

always check internet archive first

Morgan

His girl friday is on YouTube in 4K. The version on prime looks like shit

Bryan Cox

Going to be another Halloween miniseason this year?
