We sit down with Mike Cheslik, the director of the new(ish) silent comedy action farce Hundreds of Beavers. We discuss his Wisconsin influences, ultra-DIY approach to filmmaking, making your film exactly as stupid as it needs to be, and the inherent humor of watching a guy in a mascot costume get wrecked on camera.

There are still a few in-theater opportunities to catch Hundreds of Beavers: https://www.hundredsofbeavers.com/tickets/

And it’s also available for rental at home on Apple and Amazon.

Wow! I saw Lake Michigan Monster at the Twisted Dreams Film Fest my mke friends run, I was in the Michael Myers costume helping out! I love that movie and got to meet a bunch of you guys at that premiere, I'm still friends with Ryland on FB. I think that Arrow bluray came with the episodes of that show you guys made as extras. It was pretty trippy. So cool to see you on Chapo, everyone needs to go check Lake Michigan Monster out, I'm gonna track down the new movie asap

My friend worked on this movie and invited me to a screening. Pasting my reply: “Sorry I’ve been trying to make this happen but I’m doing a show I can’t call out of easily :/ This was in my text box since the day you sent this: If I wanted to see hundreds of beavers, I’d just take 100 pictures of you, you pussy.”

Hundreds of Beavers is an Honorary Tight 90

Jaime Christley

Since she's not cited this episode, let's have a shout out to Olivia Graves, "The Furrier", who is very funny (the "I'll cut your fucking throat" gesture she makes @ the Master Fur Trapper), and whose surprise/impromptu pole dancing made me have feelings.

Fav throw away gag in this is the cut back to the snowman with abs after the first snowman "drops" the fishing line.

The Movie Mindset interviews have been so good. I love it when Chapo interviews any kind of artist. Great questions and great answers that make for nourishing slop.

The video game talk made me think that I’d love to hear Felix do some sort of “Gaming Mindset”. I’d love to hear him and some others talk about Metal Gear or the Souls games, Counter Strike…

Connor Schoen

I'm glad that Wisconsin is now known for another film than the Dawn of the Dead remake

Anomalie

Anyone know how to watch this movie in Australia? The great Australian firewall keeps out too much content.

Dustin Nelson

Socialswine

Elmer Fudd plays Zelda to Get Laid. Genius.

NYCM&AHole

I can’t read the title without hearing presidents of the United States’s song “millions of peaches”

Murked87

Paused half way through to watch this movie last night. So glad I did

I was 5 recommendations deep and bought this on Amazon a month ago and didn’t get around to it till this! DELIGHTED by the interview. I let my 3 year old watch part of it and he laughed so hard he started coughing, the woodpeckers got him.

Cliffie Mathieson

Was lucky enough to catch this Hundreds of Beavers at my local indie theater a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I were the only ones at the screening, and it was the most I’ve laughed at a movie in years

Michael Naatjes

Probably been asked before: any chance of getting RedLetterMedia on Chapo?

David Bond

God-tier movie. Watched it twice since listening to this ep a couple days ago. Free-trial it on YT if you’re a brokie. It’s fucking fantastic, maybe an instant classic

Eamon Short

I'm sorry (and christ knows why I'm bothering, this is screaming into the void) but the criterion of genre films is Vinegar Syndrome

Dustin Nelson

I finally got to see this, loved it!

The one surviving dog playing solitaire in camp is such a good joke.
