Happy Summer Solstice everyone. Continuing our I guess now semi-official States Series, we’re joined by journalist Devin O’Shea to look at Missouri, the Show-Me State. Ranging from The Bodyguard (1992)-style scandals around the current congressional election, Springfield-like nuclear disasters and tire fires, to the infamous Veiled Prophet ball and its consequences, seedy dealing and nefarious actions abound in the gateway to the west. Would you believe me if I told you there are even “Poppy” Bush and Jet Fighters angles in this one? There are!

Always grateful for the slop Chris, also you should know what I'm gonna say: where the heck is Hasan as a guest host and why isn't he on the show? My campaign won't end until his second Chapo guest coin is earned, it's well-deserved! He sang yall praises and sent people like me your way for far too long to not have a return visit!

Schwartz666

Based on the ep image, looks like some congratulazionis are in order.. Pope Franny finally got hitched!

Connor Moloney

Michael S Judge is currently hooking this episode directly to a major artery

Evan Pitkin

I still think the Veiled Prophet Ball would make an excellent backdrop for another season of True Detective.

gumb0

Haven't gotten a chance to listen yet, cuz I just finished a shift in a shitty Missouri gas station that just got bought out by Utah-based Mormons, but I'm expecting some good shit 👌 🚬🥵

MCL

Missouri is the only place where I’ve seen 2 different meth labs explode on the same day

Ruby Lee

RIP the GOAT Donald Sutherland.

Ian H

Wait didn't the States Series begin with Madinah Wilson-Anton on Delaware?

Tom Joad

Chris, you guys are getting closer to the great state of Oklahoma. I'd love an episode of OK politics. You can talk about some of the historical guys like Robert Kerr( the uncrowned king of the senate) and Gene Stipe, seahawks great steve largent, to the current shit heads like Stitt, Walters, and Deevers. A bonus treat is felix could expand on aubrey mclindon committing suicide by crashing his tahoe. I'm biased as an okie, but I think this would make for great slop.

Peanut Horse

Trueanons cloud cover ep with this guy is good

tanmantincan

Love these state by state episodes, more please! 🐷🐷🐷

Evan Pitkin

Damn Will already said it.

Zakir KH

Midwest is not the south, shout out Chris

Nathan

Devin O'Shea! Love this guy! He introduced me to all my local St Louis demons

Michael S. Judge

McDonnell-Douglas is also responsible for the for-profit government entity The RAND Corporation, which was doing some really daring research on subjects like bleeding Filipinos to death at the time, and for the modern incarnation of Boeing, for which it essentially acts as the executive managerial consultancy that urged Boeing's invention of the non-flying airplane. Kansas City is also home to the gigantic central Honeywell complex, which assembles 85% of each American nuclear bomb, and which designed the autopilot system that made it possible for us to nuke Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I frequently pass the building where they install fuses in nuclear warheads.

Michael S. Judge

I was playing a soccer game one time, and I was the goalie, so I couldn't afford to turn around and see whatever it was that people kept pointing at. When the game ended, I finally turned to see that there was a SWAT team raiding a half-exploded meth lab about 20 feet from the soccer goal.

Michael S. Judge

See but they're talking St. Louis. You gotta learn the nuances. St. Louis is like Boston for rube WASPs who think they're old money, and Kansas City is like Memphis for treacherous ethnic-white Catholic immigrants (my people)

Last Years Man

Thank you for the D Sutherland shoutout, WIll. Eye of the Needle is awesome, too! He plays a beached nazi spy and he's creepy as hell!

Matt Colston

Do Washington. We got sicko shit here.

Horseloverfat

O’shea rocks. Was stoked to see his reportage on the veiled prophet ball bring one of the most demonic institutions of my childhood home into the limelight.

Ian H

Southern Illinois is definitely the south.

Lord Drewcifer

As a long suffering Missourite... I am blessed today. This hits so close to home. My old highschool in St. Louis is right next to a nuclear waste dump. The track team runs still up the 150 ft mound of rocks that covers the pile of depleted uranium and irradiated machinery.

Hunter

Chris, if you’re reading this, I need to clarify your opinion on this since you’re the expert and I have disagreed with my wife about this for years: is northern Kentucky part of the South?

Joe

I remember my first time visiting St. Louis: I had a multi-hour layover on a cross-country bus trip (I know; ick) and decided to sling my knapsack over my shoulder and go for a walk. The town treated me with perhaps the most excellent example of neo-classical architecture as an orgiastic fixture outside of Philadelphia (I was willing to look past the weathering from acid rain and acknowledge the virtue of being far harder for New Jerseyans to visit on a whim). Kansas City also rocks. Missouri has a great future, if only when it becomes fashionable to once again “dispose” of disorderly politicians. We can only hope.

jack flowers

man the delaware ep was top tier

chapotraphouse

Kentucky, slave state = THE SOUTH. We do not subdivide state regions. I’m gonna give you my official, geographic & cultural definition of The Midwest: historically free state that touches a Great Lake or the Mississippi but NOT the Atlantic: Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa.

Jessica Rios

Do you think they won’t have him on? Ew. If that were true I wouldn’t even listen to them anymore. They def would have him on. I’m sure the timing just hasn’t matched up.

Jack Dulaney

Get Tom Myers on for an episode about Maryland

Beef

As a Granite City native I listen to O'Shea for the cross river industrial shoutouts

Andrew Cross

F-4 looks like garbage, sorry

Tim Sereda

Felix should play the new Victoria 3 update

Frank

Chris, as a Kansasan thank you for indirectly defending our honor as a free state of the Midwest. Fuck Missouri.

raychilldolezal

Just one more and you've gotten through more states than Sufjan

William

Hell yeah veiled prophet

demonsweat

Bring back Bad News Hughes

William

The suicided Ferguson activists in burnt out cars is so fucking obvious counterintelligence shit

Alejandro Pepsi

A mention of the Ferguson murders means I get to share a lovely anecdote again. One of my professor's in college was also the head of campus PD and to, I guess, seem cool told our class the best way to get away with murder is to shoot someone in a car and light the car on fire, saying that was something cops know and talk about like liar meat head locker room talk. If anyone was born yesterday and couldn't tell who was behind those murders.

William

Is Felix a war thunder player now?

Matt Wilson

Can't do Louisiana until Matt comes home. We need the pod's resident Cajun to make a proper roux.

Owen Webster

Missouri is not the South lmfao

Kvvvy

I'm so pleased to hear Felix speak ao highly of my favorite plane, the F/A-18 (am I a naval aviator? No. Does that make me a huge cuck? Probably). Fun fact! Only 6 countries (other than the US) have F-15s, Isreal and KSA as mentioned, but also ROK, Japan, Qatar, and Singapore. Meanwhile, anyone with $13 million can get their hands on a used F-16 lol.

Danny

***Darren Wilson, not Derek Chauvin

Jennifer Reft

LOVE HIM SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️

Corey Reynolds

Sorry to correct you Chris but any state not in the confederacy isn’t a southern state. Oklahoma and Kentucky also try to claim the south but nope. Not southern.

C. Ries

When Protestants get into the Lisan Al Gaib shit that’s really when your stomach starts to churn. Thats how we got Mormonism

Ontario Guy

Lol love Tungsten Park content. Family used to use his NYC apartment on vacations.

Roger Peet

The wastes from the Mallinckrodt plant were the product of refining the most powerful uranium ore ever found, which came from a single mine in DR Congo called Shinkolobwe. Contrary to popular belief, Congolese uranium made up almost the entirety of Manhattan project fuel through the late 40's, and over 55% through the mid 50's. The reason for the high level of contamination in St Louis is because of the insane concentration of these ores, assayed at up to 75% uranium at a time when most mines struggled to produce ore over .3%. That Congolese mine was the foundation of much of the way the US has treated Congo ever since- there, everyone knows the name. Here, nobody knows it.

Roger Peet

The US government sold the Mallinckrodt wastes (much of it still stored in barrels marked "Produit du Congo") to a mining firm, who realized too late that it was way too fucked up for them to manage and dumped it illegally at West Lake. https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/7016008/

Dee Rubes

Love Felix leaning in to his jet nerdery

mary catherine

I thought thumbnail was from the love witch at first lmaooo

T

Please get Felix a ride in a fighter jet and make a video about it. It costs like $7k. I'm sure you could write it off.

Josiah

Worse, DCS - it’s Microsoft flight sim for fighter planes

Owen Webster

I think Midwesterners and Southerners can agree none of us should have to claim it.

Chris

I struggled with the Veiled Prophet until I respeced to pure Strength

walmart ed hopper

first time commenting to point out that Kansas City, the city, predates Kansas, the state -- that's how it ended up in Missouri

Josiah

Wait, I can get Felix to call my grandma?? Will it be recorded?

Meatwad Cosby

I miss when he was obsessed with Dark Souls.

IlIIllIIl llII

More state episodes please, super good stuff

absoluteboi

doing an image search for 'veiled prophet' and the room is instantly overcome with a dark energy

Elder millennial

Born and raised outside stl, and I loved this episode. There is so much about this state that’s crazy, sad, and fascinating. But also GO CARDS

Erik

Great episode title.

Nathan Explosion

felix seems pretty salty about ellie kemper for some reason.

Gorgatron888

My condolences to Kendra in the death of her grandfather.

Max Seppo

sorry, Eero "Sarensen"?? Put some respect on his name (Saarinen), ty 😘.

Agent Grange

The whole parable of Cold Water Creek sounds like something ripped straight out of a Pynchon novel as a one-off cutaway gag to explain one character's swim trunks.

Matthew Norton

I always enjoy hearing Felix getting excited about his neurodivergent fixations like fighter jets and martial arts

MCL

He was supposed to get the part in the “blowjob girl” skit

Kerri

Wait, what other states have been covered already? Did I miss one on Wisconsin?

Will

In the event that the Devin (guest of the episode) sees this... What's the deal with Rex Sinquefeild? I know about him because of his prolific funding of competitive chess. He involved in the VP thing?

K H

Whats funny is that is only a good way if you're a cop and no one is investigating it. Like hey, did anyone call in a fire? Can we check surveillance 30 minutes before and after that time for the exit and entry into the area after their car arrives and see if any cars stay a lil too long or a new car pops out? Maybe run those plates? Track the cellphone location data to see if it overlapped with the victim? There is so much information collected, even 10 years ago, they basically have to just not care. Which to be fair is how serial killers get away with it so long. They literally went to Jon Wayne Gacy's house and just left after tilting their head towards his crawlspace.

K H

There is a way to email Will and Felix?

T

No, you can only email V*rgil

K H

Born too early for Metal Gears and too late for national hand to hand combat.

Simon

These state-profile episodes are great but I think your episode with Madinah Wilson-Anton really kicked off the series.

K H

Movie Mindset on Angel's Egg and Pat Labor he won't shut up about it.

K H

Probably start with a standard aerobatic flight first. He has a lot of tummy twubbles. I guess a jet is... probably safer in terms of reliability, idk.

K H

Neat.

K H

I challenge you to find a more southern and Confederate sympathetic state than Oklahoma.

K H

It is much better than Microsoft Flight simulator. Only Sturmovik might be better aerodynamically but I don't think so.

T

He can fly with The Brown Angels

Matty yglesias

Right off the top movies.... This show is so washed

David Schuller

Washington state politics is wild because it’s a toss-up between the most annoying (racist) libs you’ve ever met and an army of all-out neo-nazis. Two of the worst kinds of people arguing like they’re the center of the world and not just some far-flung American province.

Tony Bonacci

AS AN ORTHODOX MIDWESTERNER; Missouri is definitely southern, it might be Midwest adjacent, but it has too much south in it to be one of us. And good job on our sweet sound lad speaking for the large boy who cannot bear the sconnie flag.

Dillon Cummins

Im making a comment and not an email because I don't personally know any would-be guests, but imo these are the important states to consider: (Honorable mentions Hawaii, Oregon, Connecticut, New Mexico, West Virginia, Tennessee) 1 Wisconsin, could be a guest ep with K Krueger and anyone else, important swing state, strong socialist and conservative history, interesting state and local politics, the rnc is in Milwaukee 2 both Dakota's as one ep, one guest from each state, compare and contrast for 80 minutes. Feels like South Dakota has been unfairly crowned as Worst Dakota when imo that's maybe not true 🫣 3 - Mississippi. Tbh this is the consensus worst state, talking prison system, football, drinking water, whatever else would be cool. They deserve a spotlight to discuss their horrid past and hopeful future, considering it's the least discussed of the deep south. Could alternatate with Alabama I suppose. 4 Puerto Rico, same with Mississippi, deeply poor and deserves more discussion 5 the state of Washington... Boeing, Amazon, and Starbucks are the unholy trinity of evil So far I think chapo has generally covered or dedicated episodes to: New York (city?), Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Missouri, Texas, Arizona? Trueanon has a great episode about California. Selfishly I'd like a Minnesota episode, home of wokeness.

Jack Arens

Depends on the part of Missouri you’re in. North of highway 70 is culturally midwestern, especially in STL/KC. Once you get to the Ozarks in the south then it becomes more southern. I’ve lived in STL and Iowa and they’re really just the same place.

Cullen S

A decade ago I went to Cape Girardeau for a friends wedding, I’ll never forget the MASSIVE pieces of debris just casually bobbing by the riverfront.. Local who saw my shocked gawking said ‘they’re just redneck icebergs’

Tony Bonacci

Illinois is the anti Missouri, where Missouri is definitively not a Midwestern state, no matter what KC or stl might say, and Illinois is a Midwest state, regardless of how they feel about it in Springfield

Red Chud

Need an episode on Washington state or Oregon

Tony Bonacci

Nah they go on his stream with some regularity, I think he just streams too fucking much.

Tony Bonacci

Except they are not, because the simple fact is that Des Moines is not Jefferson city. Missouri is a southern state and has been since it's inception. Bloody Kansas was a warzone for the soul of the state, one still up for debate, but Missouri was lost in the compromise and has yet to be redeemed.

Dark Belden

As a kid my family moved to Ohio instead of Missouri because my parents didn’t want us to be the “poor” cousins. As an adult I found out those same cousins participated in VP and are one of the like twelve families that run STL.

protob1

If you fail to understand why real men discuss business over premium, hand-rolled tobacco and a glass of 18 year old Macallan, you are fucking gay.

Jessica Rios

Exactly. I’m sure they would have him on if he were so inclined.

Michael S. Judge

Basically • when you picture a rudimentary French trading post in the 1700s, and it grows and grows because it's a good place to slaughter and skin living things and literally sell them down the river, and the main business of the city becomes the gigantic livestock holding pens (and attendant warehouses and slaughterhouses) of thousands and thousands of animals about to have their brains bashed in so they can be shipped across or out of North America, and there are loads of 1890 "ethnic white" immigrants (lots of Irish, lots of Italians, lots from ever-shifting "Russian" border regions like Poland and Ukraine, quite a lot of people who would've been considered Czech or Bohemian or Yugoslav at the time) jammed together in tenements & developing organized crime, that's Kansas City – everybody who's lived here for more than a couple decades has some 3rd- or 4th-degree connection to the mob era of the Pendergast Machine; I am typing this while sitting about a 10-minute drive from a house once occupied by a man who called himself "Thomas Howard" and was actually Jesse James – • and when you picture a gang of regional-rich WASPs, but they're far more German than Anglo and they're not real old money, so they've all become Freemasons, and they're standing in front of the courthouse where it was ruled in 1858 that there's no such thing as a "free black person," only a slave missing its master, and the Masons are sketching out a system of parks and fountains that will culminate in the Gateway Arch as the geopathic wound which cuts & then scabs over to place some occult geometry immovably in the core of their podunk pseudo-oligarchy, that's St. Louis. Profound FROM HELL ambiance. You can look at any part of downtown StL and know, without any prior information at all, "This place was built in a specific shape as a specific sign to specific people, and I don't know what or why or whom, but it's a bad, bad sign."

Michael S. Judge

Been through Cape Gir'deau Down to Arkansas Been through Cape Gir'deau Down to Arkansas I got so goddamn hungry, I could hide behind a straw, poor boy, I been All around this world

Jack

Missouri is the south but the cities (STL/KC) identify as midwestern culturally. Source: me - a born and raised Saint Louisan

Casey S

I didn't know...

EnKaff

Hello. Foreigner here. Please explain this. Sounds mad/awesome

Phil N

Chapo should get Christopher Mathias on. He did a great, but ultra depressing episode of QAA (ep190) discussing the groypers taking over school boards and towns in northern Idaho.

Erik Weissengruber

Every group needs a cleric. Even an Evil group. (Half Orc cleric/assassin FTW).

Michael

Darren Wilson was the police officer who killed Michael Brown.

Kyle

Many Midwest states like Michigan had slavery

Jack Arens

Sorry, you’re right, nothing has changed in 160 years.

Kyle

Missouri is not in the south

Schwartz666

Great ep! Ton of fun song and sound drops throughout too. We love Chris Da God, don't we folks?

Tony Bonacci

The veiled prophet is still there, the KKK were a prominent political force as recently as 1970 and Ferguson is still run by explicitly and militantly racist cops, the Midwest is not perfect but boss hogg is a southern figure, up north we generally do our racism structurally rather than personally. Dont get it twisted, I lived in raytown for a hot minute, my brother married a gal from StL. It's the south. Don't believe me, try the BBQ.

Kinetics Video

CA above Sacramento doesn't get much national attention. Maybe you can sneak something about cannabis libertarians if you make an episode about Greater Idaho

Jack Arens

Dude, I’m from STL, all of that is true (except the no structural racism thing cause what?) but it’s still culturally midwestern here. No one here considers themselves southern. Our food is midwestern unless you count Cracker Barrel. We’re an old industrial city, settled by Germans. Grant and Sherman both lived here at one potion. I’ll accept some weird third thing between midwest and southern, but here is nothing like Atlanta, Tallahassee, etc.

Hot Rod

Devin O’Shea rules.

Ant koz

Chris, playing out with just like heaven, did I miss something content related, some link? Or just feeling the ultimate feel good pop hit?

Drew Flanagan

show me show me show me how you do that trick

Gubriel

I think it began with the Blago episode about Illinois

Tony Bonacci

No y'all also have structural racism, of course this is America, but the personal vitrol and the amount of evangelicals Baptists and other fundamentalist freaks out there just hits different. And yes you have your industrialist German protestant communities but it's the scotch Irish and old colonial britspawn that run the government, and while st.louis is the most Midwestern of the major Metropoles in Missouri it's still a part of a state that has fundamentally southern laws culture and ruling classes. Atlanta is nothing like Dallas but they are both in the south. Kansas City is literally the name of a barbarque technique. Missouri is a southern state, just accept.

Waffle Poet

Missouri is also the home of the world’s largest ammunition manufactory, Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, which produces over 80% of all US military and federal LEO’s small caliber ammo: 5.56x45, 7.62x51, 7.62×67, 8.58×70, 12.7x99, 20mm, and soon 6.8x43mm. While owned by the USG and under the command of an Army lieutenant colonel, LCAAP was privatized under Reagan. Olin Corp took over the contract, and then ATK. ATK merged with Orbital Sciences (rockets) becoming Orbital ATK, but then Northrop Grumman took over when they bought Orbital ATK. Olin-Winchester took back over in 2020. At capacity LCAAP produces about four million rounds a day, and well over a billion each year. It produces Over seven years I gauged and weighed millions of 5.56 rounds, and inspected tens of thousands by hand, operating a machine designed and built by Nazi POWs, and future Remington engineers, in ‘45. Which is to say I’ve murdered more innocent people across three continents than any human being can even meet in a lifetime. Weren’t no other jobs could (barely) support a single breadwinner, his disabled wife, and their insane medical needs. She died in December ‘22, but I’d been elected assistant steward and found a new excuse for complicity. I started talking work stoppages after October 7th. Management threatened to fire me; my steward and the business agent (IAM Local Lodge 788) told me to my face they’d stamp it. Then, Lt. Col. Christopher J. Denton his own damned self deigned to partake in one of my smoke pit agitations, waited ‘til I was done, and politely enumerated the consequences of fucking with the Pentagon. I heeded his advice and quit. Can’t believe I confessed in a Chapo Patreon comment.

Cullen S

I got you covered, Neil! Sir Michael is making a (baller) reference to “Hang Me, Oh Hang Me” sung by Oscar Isaac from the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack. Great stuff!!

Jack Arens

Please understand you’re the only one who thinks this. Also, we have way more Catholics than Protestants in stl.

Tony Bonacci

I mean me and at least one other, but I assume Chris is something of a thought leader here right? And I'm aware of the Catholicism of stl, the former French city, but Jeff City is where your laws get made, and that shit is Dixie coded as fuck.

TangiePower

Devin’s episodes on TrueAnon are some of my favorite eps from that pod, much respect.

Bipp

Was about to comment the same thing.

Go'Thrak

Devin's Pruitt Igoe ep of Trueanon is an all timer. He's so great.

AbeLinkin

I want a Chapo ep on Vermont. The only rural state without a major city that goes for left leaning politics

Ant koz

The show me state… sick.

Hot Rod

Growing up in southern IL I didn’t see STL as a southern city, but going to college at SIUe I did. I think STL is Midwestern for sure but it is right at the border of the south, which means it is bound to have cultural spillover. It’s not completely southern, but not completely northern Midwestern having lived in WI for 13 years. I also think when folks create a midwest v southern dialectic they’re just showing their northern bias. Somehow “Midwestern” has come to only mean northern Midwest (Great Lakes states, etc). Having said that, the southern part of STL is there in plain sight. It’s got it’s own BBQ, and masked secret society, and a loud minority openly hates mass transit. But it is also northern in that it was part of the black diaspora and loves to use infrastructure to segregate.

Hot Rod

My hope for chapo is for Matt to recover so he can publicly apologize for calling Milwaukee the westernmost end of the rust belt. He completely neglected STL even though it fit his criteria (borders water+heavy industrial manufacturing base that serves the M-I complex).

Gucci Brandt

A Louisiana episode would be great. So much corruption and jokes to be had there. Especially with this latest 10 commandments posted in every school thing. Why the fuck do we just endlessly fight the same political battles over and over in America without focusing on ya know…actually improving schools. It’s just corruption and religious morons feeding like vampires on over worked tax payers since the beginning 👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀

Nolan

If you see someone in St.Louis Blues gear you know they’re racist because there’s no reason to watch hockey in Missouri other than all the players are white.

Nolan

G league ass Bohemian Grove 🤣

Matthew Dunn

Great episode, love the states shows. I know you discuss NYC a lot but how bout discussing upstate NY and how the Democrats are trying to turn it into the next Silicon Valley.

NTM

Americans don’t appreciate how good Cuban cigars actually are smh Felix of all people should know…

Mangomoosh

Yeah that was confusing. Sad to think all these fucking sick acts just blur into one.

glaourgbn

it's winter dickheads

Christopher Price

hey Chris, I'd be willing to match my Patreon contribution for a supercut of Felix talking about fighter jets. and talk to Alex Zielenski about Oregon. our governor is literally in bed with the British version of McKinsey.

Rohrkrepierer

Yooo, I didn't know Felix was a flight sim nerd!

Jon Lyons

finally we're getting podcast representation

Ray Tay

As a kid, I grew up 4 hours north of St. Louis. I always watched The Toy (1982) starring Richard Pryor. While I know that it explicitly says Baton Rogue, LA, I always thought that movie took place in St. Louis due to the massive amount of wealth disparity between a largely African American population and the white ruling class who were secret Klansmen. I think St Louis, was my definition of the south until probably first grade.

Ardy Rezv

Bro cardinals fans are 1000 times more racist than blues fans lol

gumb0

I take umbridge with Mr. Chris Wade's take that Missouri isn't a Midwestern state, but it's all love brotha 🫶 Devin is dead on the money, Missouri, Gateway of the West is a land of contradictions where the North, West and South meet (Eastern elites go home 😤). Chapo, go to Missouri!!!

Connor Moloney

Consarnit, it just won't be the same without Matt doing the accent

Michael S. Judge

I thought that until I realized that major parts of the South are a lot like Kansas City and St. Louis – not like Delta South, but you go pretty much straight down, OKC, Tulsa, all the major cities in the middle 3rd of Texas are pretty much like Missouri cities except with less apologia for brutally hostile architecture and no geographical reason to be there. (Dallas, I have often said & will always maintain, is the city aliens would build if they were allowed to study human urban topography but had no idea what any of it was FOR. It's just chunks of city template slammed together with no logic or purpose.) The Catholic thing is probably the biggest cultural divide, cos when I moved to Texas, they treated Catholicism like I told them I was raised to do the Balinese Monkey Chant of Prince Rama, so I think of KC in particular as an essentially Southern city into which an essentially Midwestern populace has been transplanted.

Michael S. Judge

I say this with no hate or bias in my heart, speaking simply as a man who's been all over this damn country, usually in shoestring economic circumstances: Oklahoma is the worst state in America

Michael S. Judge

And this is why Missouri remains a conundrum, because our official position on the Civil War was "... Let's wait a couple years here and see which side looks like the safe money"

Mackle Less

Not that it matters sinc I know the hosts take it as gospel truth as they’ve repeated it like 10 times on the show, but Jelani Cobb did a very in depth report on the dead Ferguson activists and it’s pretty much debunked. Like most of them weren’t BLM activists at all, two were grand jury witnesses (who already testified and were killed after no indictment was issued), one guy died of a drug overdose, one guy’s body was found in a burned out car, and one guy was killed in a car that was then burned. Sure, it’s fun to imagine a murderous police conspiracy, but this was also one of the highest homicide areas in the country. Kind of weak stuff to repeat tbh.

Alef Khoury

OMG please do an Arizona episode

EaZy E

I haven't heard him mention that specifically, but he has said something like, he'd be a good fighter pilot, or would have in WWII.

EaZy E

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure a lot of racist white guys like watching black dudes play sports just so they can feel like they're owed something.

Jessica Furr

@socialistdogmom Molly Conger would be a great Virginia guest

Jacob

All you need to know about missouri is that anything outside of Kansas City is dogshit
