David Sirota of Lever News stops by to discuss his new podcast mini-series Master Plan, detailing the five decade long deliberate scheme to legalize corruption in the U.S. We examine the plots from a relatively small group of familiar figures (Roger Ailes, John Bolton, David Frum) to eliminate corporate oversight and dump unlimited money into the American political system, as well as the myriad methods they used to achieve this: from strategic court appointments, to dairy subsidies, to propaganda films starring Jimmy Stewart. David also explains how the success of the plan can offer ways to unmake it.

You guys deserve 100K an episode but we appreciate you keeping our slopaganda pure.

Seattle Trading Post

No throbbing feeling in the opening credits? Missed opportunity

PitMommy

Lol mixed Sirota up with David Corn and was very confused.

Greg

“Jimmy Stuart” c’mon Chris/Will

JD Nonce

Wow what a coincidence David Frum has my penis in his mouth right now. Say ‘hi’, David!

Evan Pitkin

Tim Pool should commit Harakiri with that butter knife on his wall. Not for the Russia stuff. Just for being insufferable.

Mark Fox

The audio quality in this one… stop it you’ll make me used to this and I’ll accept no less

Payton M

Sirota is giving me a headache. Hes constantly building up every little point and over emphasizing random things. Just get the shit out and let it speak for itself

Tvvvv

All Will, no fat.

Andrew Cross

Travis, you can have a couple of days off, brother.

Andrew Cross

what's this? hold the phone!

David Browm

"This is not the law of gravity..." Karl Marx: "well, actually..." Love the show. Loved the episode. Just wanted to point out some old guy about 150 years proved that this is, in fact, what was always going to happen with capitalism

Joseph

Fantastic episode

Hot Rod

Ralph Nader hosted Saturday Night Live in 1977.

Tvvvv

Damn Felix coming in at the end with them good ass points and shit

Andrew Rassling

I'm sorry David, I still like you, but tryna say "we gotta go back" to any problem means you're forgetting that the only way out is through. Felix, thank you for bringing that up, you were very nice about it, and I feel like both factors should be noted.

Dick Must Bust

Anyone catch Tim Pool’s dad on MR today XD

Matelda

So this is why all of our parents are so dumb.

Erik Weissengruber

I used to think the Powell memo was an example of corporate reaction. Did not know it was samizdat for business beasts.

Professor Jokes

Sirota stole peoples personal data to sell media products after bernie 2020. He's a crook, how the hell did he even get in the show?

Rico

Proof? Google got me nothing

Big-Stink

Legit thought he wasn’t on the call lmao. His input was very much needed at the end tho

Comrade Trash Panda

Breaking News: People are collectively pursuing their economic self interest! I'm sorry what about this information is supposed to be shocking to us?

Michael Karrer

This Zionist grifter needs to be thrown overboard

Michael Karrer

He can’t his pretension won’t allow for it

William

So you can just read Democracy in Chains and get a better understanding of this

Nico

The challenging of him at the end was great

Fernslinger

Ahhh, the old “I have to pick my daughter up from school” excuse when you’re getting owned by Felix at the end there, expertly deployed by the hack, David Sirota.

Fernslinger

Also I liked the that they said “bork” and “borking” a lot in this episode.

William

Sorry, but David has nothing for me. He’s the embodiment of, “hey guys, I know how this is going to sound, but someone farted in this nice democracy elevator and I’m pretty sure it’s the monopoly man over there.” He’s the keystone light of critics. Can’t believe he was ever considered a “firebrand”

Hardcore Virgin

Wow. Sirota ducking Felix with the daughter line. he doesn’t have a daughter. That’s a fact.

Podcast subscriber 78

Can anyone confirm the pronunciation of “quixotic”? Asking for a friend.

Henry

Lol Felix jumpscare an hour plus in

Regular guy

I think he does have a daughter, there are pictures of him with his kids online. He just did a way more contentious interview with Briahna Joy Gray, so I don't think he's scared of being argued against on a podcast

C. Ries

I actually liked Don’t Look Up but saying “We just HAVE to get Big Money out of politics!” is like……..

Sheila Mydick

Why everyone mad at Sirota? I recall he was heavily involved w Bernie 2020 and wrote a bit on Jacobin around then but I’m not sufficiently in the loop

J Vladcliff

At the very start of this David and Will both concede that corruption within power has always existed. Humanity is flawed deeply. Those with power, even a little seek to exploit others for gain. That is the lesson of this place. War, chaos and fear.

William

He is as annoying as a leftist who’s constantly telling you to read theory, is constantly pontificating on the nuances of said theory that only he and a few others care to know, without actually being a Marxist-anythingist, but also as devoted to technocracy as a warren stan. Worst of all types, no upsides

Taz

I can't stand sirota man. Just relitigating the fight he lost 20 years ago. They aren't going to go back. We have to get through it somehow

kron

Good pushback from Felix, it’s clear the system wasn’t good enough to prevent the Master Plan, so it shouldn’t be something we aspire to “go back to”. You can’t go back, and saying we just need stronger campaign finance laws etc. etc. next time feels kind of like adding an 11th lane to a congested highway, momentary relief delaying capitalism’s inevitability. Not a law of gravity, but a law of capital

Ryan

People don't like being told to read by a liberal. That's what I understand it as

Hilary is Pant-suited Syphilis

He made a really insane tweet alluding to the supposed anti-semitic leanings of anti-genocide people while saying people should vote for Kamala

CL

It straight up startled me 😂

ploob

Will needs to do his Jimmy Stewart every ep

it's me

It is Kwik sa tik

Satcomdaemon

Felix bringing up a polite and basic retort of liberal reform policy made Sirota bolt is the perfect short encapsulation of everything from 2016 till now.

Geronimo

Everything Sirota said makes complete sense if you watched the 4 avengers movies

Jaime Christley

Retroactively picturing Felix sitting through the first 70 minutes of the episode daydreaming about various gruesome, Edward Gorey-esque methods for doing away with David Sirota.

Jabroni Ludd

GyatGpt summary: Felix: so j edgar and powell was big scared of a black messiah and ralph nader? i guess our only option for responsive govt is a black spartacus/american gaddafi. Sirota: i need to return some videotapes

Jessica S

Well that was a super depressing episode, lol. Seriously though, so many things I’ve wondered over the past decade about “how the hell did we get here?”, this episode filled in all the missing pieces, the conservative shift towards controlling the courts being one of those things. I’ve tried to explain to people after the latest Roe row (hehe) that democrats didn’t understand what they were dealing with, that this was a long war plan to change the way perpetual debates like Roe were treated, as fund raising schemes for both sides to scare voters into a favorable turn out. Except this time they had enough judges to kills that handshake deal. If democrats could have noticed this when the propaganda campaign began in the 90s, I don’t know how much would’ve changed, but maybe they wouldn’t have spent 40 years insisting the republicans place nice and become bipartisan and thinking that would be enough to keep the White House and capital hill forever? All I know is there seems to be little one can do anymore, the conservatives won this games at least a decade back.

Jessica S

At least now it makes a bit more sense why I’m so cynical and apathetic about voting, lol.

Michael S. Judge

Given William F. Buckley's long & fruitful partnership with the CIA, it's beyond my credulity to believe that his brother the Senator wouldn't have been at least a casual Agency man, and for a rich-bitch failson CIA asset to replace Bobby Kennedy after the CIA murdered him ... that's something I'll remember when the gun is shaking against my right temple

Reece Coren

ew donna shalayla was the president when i went to umiami. she’s such a fucking ghoul

Aaron Enold

I’m mad at him because he still makes apologies for Israel

Chris Allen

I made the mistake of reading the comments before the episode ended, and was therefore anticipating an uncomfortable exchange between Felix and David that…was not at all like so many people on here characterized it. Some of you need to breathe a little.

SkinnyTonySoprano

Having had a bunch of shitty low paying jobs my whole life, it amazes me that the corruption of the American system hasn't worked it's way into the phyci of the working class. Example: I worked as a Home Depot cashier. HD had a policy where any cashier is aloud to deduct $50 from a customers total without having to call a manager. At no point did anyone try to slip me a $20 and request the $50 off.

Aaron Enold

He also implied that Felix was attacking him in an anti-Semitic manner like last week. Pretty surprised they let him on

Aaron Enold

Can we blame him? Sirota’s response to Felix on twitter a few weeks ago was disgusting

Will

What a boring episode. What chapo listener doesnt understand lobbying and campaign finance corruption? 2013 ass talking point. Stop getting so many libs on the show

DS

Great show. Wasn't this guy a Clinton surrogate or something at one point? He's on point now either way.

plainwrap

Corporate retail and 'Loss Prevention' are all about stopping cashier corruption. It's why they check receipts at the exit, it's why they forbid tipping. They're not watching the customers for theft, but rather their own employees.

dingbat44

I used to think america could be better but I grew up and realized I and everyone I ever loved deserved to suffer and die in poverty

Ryan

"Stealing" is an interesting way to frame "sending out a new newsletter to those that subscribed to the product during the campaign". He didn't take the donor list if that's what you're insinuating here

David Andrews

Excellent interview. It's already too late to fix any of this. The money is too much and the apathy among the people is too deeply entrenched.

Professor Jokes

Yes he did, I'm in Europe. It's a literal gdpr violation that could have cost a lot in fines. Weird how Americans have no feeling of propriety over their own data. Some asshole took your information without your consent and tried to sell you garbage during a pandemic

thicchatlogan

100%, just a bunch of chapo subreddit refugees patting themselves on the back for already knowing american politics is corrupt when the point of the ep was to explain the machinations that got us here, which they probably don't know shit about do a lot of people in here just have debate streamer brain? cause the exchange with Felix at the end didn't really come across as an "own", more just some friendly light pushback

Alex “WORLDWIDE” Kellar

Halfway through the ep I was like “what the hell, I’ll subscribe to Sirota’s thing, something to listen to at work” and then it was like “yeah I don’t need this” lol

oblong pans

Also I'm glad Felix said all of that because we have to think larger than reformism

oblong pans

Love this episode enough of relitigating liberal reform bullshit. Shout out Felix

sweetiepie

Yall are a bunch of little baby children. No felix did not bully david off the podcast.

Jackson

Just out of nowhere hearing "well, okay..." from Felix 1 hour and 12 minutes in is so funny

Jackson

Why would you start recording a podcast an hour before you have to pick your daughter up from school

Savannakhet

Felix has been lurking in the comments and seen the sarcastic "Felix starts talking at 12minutes" posts and then thought of a good bit.

CJ

The spirit of Cushbomb being wielded by Felix an hour in

Matthew

The other shoe dropping, personified

Dan

Pipe down loser

Gonzo

Where did he come from

Of course

the show starts at 1:11:42

HarshMalarkey

Hey Chris Wade check your Instagram DMs <3

HarshMalarkey

Virginia Israel Advisory Board Free Palestine

Matttttttt

Lmao. I was like, oh, Felix is here!

Nate K

Unfortunately, it's par for the course. I made the mistake of donating through ActBlue one year. Now every Dem campaign in the country emails me to ask for money every damn year. Our politicians exempted themselves from our timid anti-spam laws because "free speech". Although most of them have an "unsubscribe" link, they all seem to conveniently forget around the same time the next year.

Dan

Where would a lot of the commenters be if they couldn’t blame every thing on muh “capitalism” and “imperialism”

Ksizzle

For real what a jump scare

Axel H.

Lmao gtfo Dan

Daniel Montoya

Lol everyone needs to hop off felix’ dick rn fr fr

Warbs

Thank you, Will, for listening to his pod so I don't have to. I really appreciate Felix's pushback and he was too nice to this fucking shitlib.

Patrick Allen

Jump scare at 111.42 when Felix pipes us with some normie twaddle disguised as a moral high ground.

Cameron Van Berkum

This is such a good episode. Can you make this one public so I can share with people?

Jackson

Ok chill out dan

Ksizzle

Buddy pipe down. What felix talked about was extremely valid, rather than harken back to recreate what was ultimately defeated, maybe we need to build something new different and stronger.

Daniel Capshaw

David Sirota blocked me on Twitter after I said he was being ridiculous for saying "the intense level of antisemitism piously wrapped in the banner of social justice has made me deeply depressed & demoralized" in October last year. I suppose he was trying to imply that some of those who are anti-genocide were going about things the wrong way? I said I agreed that antisemitism was a problem but that implying there was some sort of swell of antisemitism on the left was ridiculous. Few things get under my skin more than a liberal who says that things are bad on "all sides". Regardless glad Felix came in to discuss the material conditions and relations of late-imperial capitalism and the reality that those conditions and relations create.

Boaz Corey

We need to remember the wisdom of Professor Irwin Corey. He was the World's Foremost Authority!! Thank you for referencing him.

Andrew Rassling

It was very friendly light pushback, and Sirota not having a convincing vision of the future is what made it an "own". I would characterize it more as a profound flaw in Sirota's thinking, and a damn shame, than an "own" though.

Dan

It’s an endless war against the type of people behind the “master plan”. You just have to accept it, if you want to reform democracy. Felix’s last point is important, we can’t win by fighting yesterday’s battles. Blaming everything on America’s over determined “imperialism” or “capitalism” doesn’t help either.

Dan

Not sorry, loser shit

Stephen David Miller

To those criticizing the pod for having Sirota on: Why does a person providing a history lesson also need to have a vision for the future? I know the Internet has made you believe everyone must be an expert on all possible things at the same time, but *actual* knowledge rarely works like that. Can’t Will have him on because he’s giving interesting information and laying it out clearly? Can’t you, or Felix leaping out behind the bushes an hour into the recording, take the “Now what?” baton?

Of course

The moment anyone starts with "corruption" or "inappropriateness" or "look at what the conservatives did," then I know I'm talking to a lib. A worthless lib.

Dan

Worth is a capitalist concept. Check mate

Of course

If you think human progress is possible (and some don't), if you think humans have - to some meaningful extent - agency, and are not only objects of fate, then a historian will have a sense of trajectory, lessons to be learned and deployed, role models to follow, etc

Whucko Jaang

Lever? It's 'Lever'! Jeepers

Dan

Lever? I hardly know her!

Of course

a lib has no use-value then, use-value being indifferent to mode of production

Dan

Any post that starts with “worth”? uh yikes.

Brian

Will Menaker for dictator!

Geronimo

Sirota sounds like a dumbass until you realize his wife is an elected official for one of the Genocide Palestine parties. The Sirotas know where their bread is buttered - rule #1 do not ever have a coherent view of imperialism or capitalism if you want to do what they both do for a living. Or at least keep it yourself, never say it out loud on a podcast

Ian Szabo

Donna Shalala is a fucking jump scare as someone who just graduated from the New School

Ksizzle

I’m completely here with you, but im not really convinced that in the modern day, an armed US revolution could even win against it’s government without at least the majority of the military on its side. It’s worthwhile to consider all avenues. Direct resistance, small scale seizers, and building of competing systems are likely all needed to treat the disease.

Christian Bendillo

The fact that I’m addicted to audio content that makes me depressed has got to be a legitimate form of self-harm and yes I will be following that link to hurt myself more.

Geronimo

Also ik a lot of normal and smart people might think like David, and I wouldn’t call them dumbasses. People like David are annoying though because he’s paid to sit down, think, and write for a living, yet the best his sour grapes mind can do is this trash

Christian Bendillo

Also, the fact that I popped this on while I was driving to get ripped off at the pharmacy is its own special coincidence.

Sam Schick

Tired of hearing this shit.

Sam Schick

Pay me $5!! And I’ll tell you the real story. Gross

Whucko Jaang

What the fuck Felix was there the whole time

Whucko Jaang

Have you guys listened to any other people in the world?

Noah Mingus

LARPing is fun, you are right

Alexandre Chevalier

He sounds like a shrill, self-indulgent guy who‘s underperforming and won’t admit it to himself

Alexandre Chevalier

It’s the rhetorical equivalent of the boy who cried wolf. Painful to listen to.

Alexandre Chevalier

Like a desperate shill without anything meaningful to contribute who loves the sound of his own voice.

Geronimo

No i only hear David Sirota, who always lurks near me and yaps like Hitler from Jojo rabbit

Alexandre Chevalier

Sounds pretty fuckin shitty for such a well-funded professional, though.

Alexandre Chevalier

I commented somewhere else here that his intonation is the rhetorical equivalent of the boy who cried wolf. You can’t emphasize continuously and expect the audience to hang on your every word. He’s just not a good speaker, technically. Nevermind the substance.

Alexandre Chevalier

Nevermind that douchebag, the problem here isn’t you brother.

Mark Schneider

As much respect I have for Sirota's intellect & hard work, it is very disappointing to me that his wife is a professional Dem party activist. SO, he has a pretty glaring conflict of interest OR he is so goddamned stupid & compromised he believes that some Dems (what, 2 maybe of over 400 elected?) aren't wholly bought & owned by the War Machine & the donors, just as their ReThuglican colleagues are. The info. he shares is very germane. However, sadly it is the equivalent of putting a nice pair of waterwings on one deck chair on the Titanic. I guess 1 individual might be helped, but many, many more are doomed.

Kamran Husain

as the future american napoleon you can help today by donating to my go fund me

Davin

Please have David Sirota back to speak with Felix more, they were just getting cooking.

oblong pans

Probably being politically confused and edgy internet virgin like yourself

Peen Israel

Felix is pretty damn smart

Logan

Anyone with an "x" in their name is smart.

Travis

Felix begins speaking at 1 hour 11 minutes and 42 seconds. A new record!

Axel H.

Facts 😌

William

Dan, you’re being a cunt

William

Is this what a ratio’d is?

Percy Plump

Idk how you could love this episode if you understand Marxism. this guy’s blabbing on and on abt some very inconsequential shit like he discovered how to do nuclear fusion.

Kamran Husain

i called dibs and will smite my adversaries

eduard karpoev

As a Russian very happy to hear you were taking my tax dollars. Ураааа Слава Россия! Слава Чапо!

Ashley Naftule

Every time Felix drops the video game jokes to activate his sincere political mode is like watching an anime character drop their weighted clothes to unleash their full power

David Cox

“….but how will the Emperor maintain control without the beurocracy?!?”

Christopher Price

i liked it because they dredged up the ghost of Harriet Miers, an absolute blast from the past. Chapo is like old school SportsCenter but for appreciators of Gulf War II war crimes.

David Browm

Intersting and prescriptive are not mutually exclusive. I think sirota documenting this stuff is good. It's not going to solve anything but it makes things a bit more clearly for normal people. Plus the pushback from Felix was good

Mike Mariano

As someone with the phrase “Tim Pawlenty smokin’ hot wife” permanently stuck in my head, I appreciated his “show me the dead Canadians” quote provided by Sirota.

snafujesus

Whether Felix laughs enough and sincerely enough is literally make-or-break for some young striver’s youtube comedy special . Oh the power

T

I can tell you’re not a parent because the hour before school pick up is the most productive hour of the day

J

Can we just have a law that makes all workplaces employee owned and controled. Arm the employees

DT

Damn, sometimes it's easy to write Felix off as the token funny bro gamer but he'll bring the heat when the rubber meets the road.

David Cox

Guy Debord would never have a podcast

Noah Mingus

Creating new, beautiful things that leave no opportunity for such positions to be held in the first place.

Sai

It's unfortunate that the bourgeoisie won't surrender the means of production peacefully. I don't think there's any communist anywhere who wouldn't prefer a peaceful revolution. If wishes were horses. Power to the people ✊☭

Alexander Amen

Long time listener, first time commenter. Really appreciate Felix’s push back at the end. Very good stuff.

Alexander Johnson

I think this is the first episode in years where Felix didn't say the phrase "yeah, no", which is how I know he's serious.

Dick Must Bust

Lol I got about 50 mins into the episode before I realised that Felix wasn’t in it. Edit: lmfao he jumps on the mic in the last 5 mins.

Jtdre

It’s a shame that the episode couldn’t have gone on a little longer, Felix and David were having a good discussion but couldn’t come to a conclusion

Alex Gullen

Enlightening episode and a nice respite from Felix with his ‘like’ speech impediment.

Drake

I got $50 off last week when I was asking someone else if the tool was on sale. I was like "you can just do that"? He smiled and nodded. Real G's...

Salt M. Bank

Where has Sirota advocated for Israel?

Bman1

wait felix was there the whole time?

etienne

the DJ Smokey with the archival audio rly sounded like Boards of Canada

enter_krzysz

I imagine Felix sitting next to them listening and taking everything said in

enter_krzysz

Omg, Felix really is there 🙉

enter_krzysz

Give me Will topless riding horseback and I'll support him as American Gaddafi all the way!

Michael Austin

don't like sirotas analysis but it is a very interesting historically relevant story for politic's heads and a lot of people here need to chill out

Millhouse

Swedish chef ass

CJ

“SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT. UUUUUUUUP!!!”

Dean

Felix chimes in an hour into the show with “yeah, no, but what good is passing laws against corruption?”

etienne

mf will be like "this approach pales in comparison with my proposition: implement permanent social revolution" and then won't do social revolution

Dean

I mean, of course passing laws in a capitalist system isn’t going to change a corrupt system dramatically, but corruption has been a part of even the most socialist or communist systems yet created. Corruption has existed before capitalism OR communism has existed and will exist long after, but that doesn’t mean laws shouldn’t exist to try to reduce it

Michael Karrer

On his first podcast after 10/7 he whitewashed its founding as a socialist utopia I’’m sure there’s more but that’s enough for me.

Danny

Felix Biederman… Marxist Communist

Kevin

I'd like to think Felix was quiet for most of the episode because he feels the same way about David I do, but I know it's probably just that he overslept for the pod.

Matt James Rich

I appreciated the points made by Felix and won't bother simplifying any of it (give it a listen, please, great episode), just wanted to say that one of his points that "if the old ways of doing things lead us to this point, why bother going back and not try something new" reminded me of a similar point made by Matt in a Cushvlog, but in that video Matt was criticizing anarcho-primitivism.

Anderson Orsburn

I remember the Ad Council ads in the 1970s. I was like 9-12 years old. I perceived them as creepy and phony.

Dan

What if this became Alex jones whole thing

Gus

A lot of other people are saying this but probably the craziest “oh, Felix is here” of all time LOL. This is maybe annoying as a production critique but can’t he at least introduce himself at the beginning? I miss hearing more crosstalk.

Ksizzle

This episode was about actually discussing history and politics. Wait for a funny haha one to get your short quips

Ksizzle

No what he actually said was “wont corruption just circumvent those laws like it always has” implying that the with the root still there you’re bandaiding

Sai

It is undeniable that the liberal project of fiddling with the gears of the death machine is insufficient to make a significant change tho. The only social force that exists which would incentivise the ruling class to reverse the trend of austerity is the threat of revolution and their desire to delay it. But with a falling rate of profit their capacity to continuously buy off the people also diminishes.

Man2quilla

I swear to god, my main takeaway is that every living politician from the last few decades belongs in a gulag.

danny

sirota and felix are both right

mario why

yeah, it did seem like Felix was being a bit fatalist. Seeing as sirota’s podcast seems to be more of a historical recounting than it is full trying to start a modern political movement that will fix the world. he hast to have an angle as to why learning about it and addressing it could possibly make the country a better place. Wish they had gotten to talk more I guess.

richard parker

So funny to picture felix lurking during 90% of this episode. Also some great work by Chris here

Torpedo Jones

Ugh, Sirota. Professional Democrat and """""compassionate Zionist""""""

Richard McBeef

Wtf Felix was there the whole time? I almost crashed my car when he talked

NitroDickclapp III

Fantastic episode, I really enjoyed Felix's 2 cents at the end. You know it makes me happy that more and more people, just like me, are being pulled into very succinct and intelligent political discussion every single day. I don't think an intelligent, caring person can hear more than a couple of episodes of chapo or Trueanon or hear people like Hasan speak and not find themselves gravitating towards this way of thinking and behaving. It's worked for me, I've shared it with others, our community is growing day by day and it genuinely makes me happy. Thanks Chapo, you guys fing rule. Love from New Zealand x

pq

it was an absolute jump scare

Audeamus

Fake. No noun declension + made up last name.

Lisa Ballard

Hell yeah, I heard Harriet Myers and had a flashback...Bush's guys were stellar, Paul 'De-Baathification' Bremer and "heck of a job, Brownie!" (Also kinda forgot some 1,400 people died from Katrina).

Ben

I took a poverty law class in law school. The first reading for the class was the Powell memo, with the lesson being the corporate takeover of democracy. Prof. Hornstein knew what was up.

Frank Lee Dontcare

I hope this podcast series speaks about the history of the 'law and economics' movement, individuals like Judge Posner, the Chicago school, Thomas Sowell at Hoover and topics like non delegation theory. If it doesn't, I recommend all you piggies bone up on those specifics.

JP

Whew, I need a smoke after listening to this.

David Cox

Man that Jimmy Stewart was some kinda reactionary

Hardcore Virgin

Or they’re joking and some of you just don’t get it

Dyyyyylan

Lmfao huge surprise when Felix started talking

Matt Colston

I think Felix is however summing up the imperial project. That eventually everything done out there comes back to haunt you. We all that fruit picker in Nicaragua if we let these things persist.

Violent Delights

(Is that UNC?) Out of context, "Prof. Hornstein knew what was up" sounds like the VO intro to a law-school stag film.

Andrew N

They only really do deep dives if one of their members does a deep dive, or if they bring in a guest that has that background in researching it. As deep dives go, sadly that isn't likely while Matt is recovering, and we don't know when he might return. Could try to request true anon to cover it alongside chapo.

Frank Lee Dontcare

You're absolutely right about what's lacking with Matt. We all miss him so much. I'll make sure to do that. That sort of history and critque of power and politics is my jam.

Patrick Dalton

I must admit "yeah mother fucker I am autistic" is a pretty good dril tweet

buttface

more like a grave

buttface

this lib shit isn't cutting it for me anymore.

Elliot Matheny

To be fair, Felix pushed back against some of the more lib brained electoralism of Sirota, on a few occasions.

Amanda LaMountain

I mean, Matt would say electoralism builds capacity for change. That's what the Sanders movement was. And, yes, Felix is right, all of The Empire's ills are coming home to roost. But who's willing to pick up their assault pitchforks? Not I.

Elliot Matheny

The #1 objective right now has to be spreading class consciousness. Electoralism and the election cycle could potentially be a useful tool for proletarian propaganda, but the current crop of US politicians miss the forest for the trees. Bernie has done the most in that regard, but even he could’ve done much better if he realized that this was his actual utility.

Patrick Allen

You think you just fell out of a coconut tree? You exist in the context of all in which you live, and what came before you.

Khemith

indeed. The whole "Master plan" is a big "duh, capitalism"

Petrorenminbi

Bork was the guy who actually fired all the people during Nixon’s Saturday Night Massacre and instead of hanging him they tried to put him on the court. That was a bridge too far for democrats and we’ve been paying the price ever since

Ben

Fr tho I gave the show a chance and my liberal jargon meter went off

Bill

Felix is scaring the hoes. Sirito said "oh damn look at the time..." When Felix started questioning the whole system lmao

Wes

I think if Felix talked sooner my man would’ve had to pick up his daughter a lot quicker

Elliot Matheny

Sirota may be a bit of a lib, but he’s at least a based lib who does good reporting. That proglib zone was an important liminal space for my anticap transition, and that’s true of many commies I know

gonzopitcher

Sirota is a fraud. He should be banished along with that Felix-coded lib zoomer they keep bringing on.

Wisselbanken

Gotta say I agree with Felix's points at the end of the episode.
