We continue reviewing the stream of chaos coming from the White House - federal spending freeze/unfreeze, deportation of protestors, responses to the “DEI” aviation disaster - and try to discern if this now-familiar Trump pattern of overreach & retreat will be any different this time around. Then we look at two new films, Mel Gibson’s “Flight Risk” & Christian Gudegast’s “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” to escape from the misery, and check in on the state of dumb-guy entertainment.

AMBER EPISODE LETS FUCKING GO

CT

Last

Tom Joad

Finally. I was getting ready to go crash a Cessna with a non binary pansexual.

SCB

The manic sound of a thousand hoofs punching mud toward the morning's promise of slop!

Tristan Clark

Flight Risk really had me empathizing with the terrible US Marshal who let the last woman in her custody burn alive as well as Eric Foreman if he left Point Place to clean money for violent criminals, so I'd say mission accomplished Mel, you piece of shit.

DL

Amber pronouncing Xi’an (presumably) as jyawn has me laughing my ass off. Yall, just approximate “xi” like you would say “she”. This goes out to will and Felix everytime they talk about xi jinping too

emmy

felix speaks at 2:36

Semine

Rock hard

Jeffrey Epstein's Assassin

Silver lining?????? The Mexico highspeed rail thing also includes destruction of indigenous land and crucial rainforests. Even good things suck in the 2020s.

Degrassi Knoll

Genuinely surprised the plane episode wasn't 2 1/2 hours.

ploob

Aww gawd Den of Thieves two was sooo bad

Andrew Cross

why would I be reading the failing vanity fair

THEKILLERWHALE

To me, the takeaway is that we should not allow the military to have this kind of access to our airspace. Helicopters are unreliable and drop like bricks at the first problem. No idea why these are allowed to fly over settled areas. And the fact that there is a civilian fleet and a military fleet operating out of the same airport is crazy to me. No idea how it is organized but it surprises me that this doesn't happen more often with two distinct fleets to coordinate. Fuck these fly boys!

Meg

How do we get past the Vanity Fair article paywall?

kenton

article mentions Virgil… not good

Jordan Brewer

Den of Thieves 2 was awesome. The club scene was so fuckin funny the shirt that Gerard Butler throws on is out of this world. He’s the sweatiest man alive.

THEKILLERWHALE

Mel is utterly bizarre and bigoted which makes it all the more baffling that he is our greatest living filmmaker.

N

Dark Woke is rising

HuffingGasInTheShed

Just in general copy the url and plug it into the wayback machine internet archive. Not 100% but pretty effective

George Gallowgay

I liked when they said that Harvard would intervene to block the deportation of pro Palestinian students out of bourgeois class solidarity. That sounds right

Gage

Ohh nooo, the natives are going to have to deal with easy public transit near their pyramids. The horror.

EnKaff

Best slop comment in a long time 😀

ohnoitsthefuzz

That's fine, enjoy sniffing your own farts

Stupid Sexy Spencer Flanders

Topher was the ONLY cast member to not support Danny, and him and his wife or girlfriend are now no longer close to any of that cast. Fuck those people.

Gubriel

In like 2021 I was joking with a friend that "based wokism" would be the natural next swing of the dialectic, project fulfilled

Max

Yes, sometimes some rainforrest needs to be removed to make room for environmentally friendly transport, that's just how things are everywhere. In Europe usually new nature preserves are created elsewhere as compensation.

Christopher Small

I want to point out that the Executive Order on grants and loans didn’t just affect social programs. It was also, like, any program that was devolved to states and funded by federal bloc grants. Things like food inspection and shit. I feel like this is important to point out because I do think Trump just assumed “grants/loans” meant “charity,” and not, like, a normal funding stream for a large swath of government functions

Meg

Eephus

Liz

Actually, I don't think it's big deal it mentions him. He is part of their history, there's no erasing that. But I think the distance between Chapo and Virgil now has a big enough time gap that there's no real "sting" to be left. It's all just historical reference. He's also still in hiding apparently so no harm done. I thought Amber's short quotes on him were perfect.

Quaritch

Dracula Flow if you’re reading this please know I have also been to family court.

Wilian Moreira

Wow, I would never imagine Variety mag adding these Felix quotes lmao, it is actually a good article.

Doug Cartel

Until I get more debate over this I think this is just a copy of what russia went through in the 90s, but stupider

Sam

I’ve always loved how the UK uses “pensioner,” feels so condescending

hamburglar

What are they supposed to do about it

Eli

Remember when liberals were telling student protestors to show their faces..

NobleStrings

holy shit felix's stealth game titles fucking killed me

Zach H.

I like the idea that Wahlberg was just playing as if his character from Fear lived. Disappeared off the front lawn at the end of that movie like Michael Myers, and 30 years later tried his hand at contract murder.

Trey Williams

Whoever edits the audio please dont have amber 50% louder than everyone else

Brent

Deport me, please!

TC

“Listen to the Lex G Movie Podcast.” - Will

Jon Hume

I’m currently watching Den of Thieves so I don’t miss any important details before watching the new one. Thank you for this important commentary on new media.

T

Missed opportunity when Amber was talking about small planes killing celebrities. Will could have done his Big Bopper impression 😥

T

A civilian fleet and a military fleet operating out of the same airport? Khamerica is using civilians as human shields!

Zach H.

And that a plot of Den of Thieves III needs to have Ice Cube playing the dad of Oshea’s character who gets along great with Big Nick as they spend the movie giving his son shit the whole heist

T

I only read magazines with editors who have GOOD food restaurants

T

Climate change will completely kill the rainforests

Last Years Man

I'm 45 years old, and those Dracula Flow videos are convincing me to live another year.

Jonathan G

Will is absolutely on fire

Dee Rubes

Do not slander James Cameron so.

MATT TRIANO

Kramerica? They just got that chicken

MATT TRIANO

*hooves (tasty otherwise)

Andrew Cross

and the hottest Oscar parties

Schaeffer Mallory

Cmon Harvard is not gonna push back in any meaningful way against brown anti Zionist students getting deported

NYCM&AHole

Why is it called den of thieves 2, pantera? There’s no heavy metal.

BigBoto

That article is full of lies. Felix said that V*rgil was eaten by an alligator in The Everglades and I believe him.

DJT

the bald mark wahlberg reveal was a literal lol moment in the theater

Stop the Spread

400,000 COVID deaths not a 9/11? Ok 🤷🏾‍♂️

Jake Scalia

Love the end of this episode when they talk about MDMA. Take it over shrooms or lsd. And I agree with amber it’s best to do it just chilling at a house listening to music you like

Scott Gunsaullus

Yes but how many people DID NOT die in car accidents commuting to/from work.

Steve D

Me and my kids are watching Malcom in the Middle and I forgot there was another Masterson. What did he know and when did he know it?

nick

I continue to be in the cultural wilderness for not liking Den of Thieves very much. A beat for beat rip of Heat doesn’t become high art because everyone in it seems to have CTE. Just a miss for me.

Woke Batou

What's the transition song on this one?

Chris Allen

Dracula Flow mentioned! 🥹

Praise The Sun

Of course not. Because COVID deaths don't provide a paper thin pretext to invade oil rich nations

Rory

I mean if the students stop paying tuition they lose their visa anyways. If they don't stop paying then why would Harvard let the state get involved?

Rory

Jesus christ I hate New York wankers like you Gage, absolutely clueless

K H

DEI made the pilot's leg fall asleep and my drink too warm and the tv too loud.

K H

If there isn't significant property damage relative to death toll it's not a 9/11, sorry.

LizB69

What film did Amber mention being involved in that won an award? Front half of ep

K H

Also. This is yet another demonstration of the total incompetence of the US military. They crashed a plane from not being able to do a basic instrument approach, and now a helicopter(the only aerial vehicle that can actually STOP) ran into a jet airliner, the most well lit objects in the sky. I'm starting to think those 2 F15s crashed into each other and they claimed that was friendly fire.

james

What did Amber elude to about a movie in the works? I don’t have a vanity fair sub

K H

In 10 years seek Valhalla.

Moonwatcher13

One thing that Y'all REALLY need to start drawing attention to as soon as fucking possible, in the hopes it saves even a few lives, is the immediate and brutal crackdown on trans people, and especially trans women. Multiple people I know have applied for passports since the election, and in the last week or two their documents have basically been siezed, instead of being returned along with the passport, and between the cost and stigma getting those documents back is basically impossible atm. That plus the number of trans-specific Executive Orders has basically everyone I know planning to flee, if they can afford to. and since trans people are usually unemployed and on the edge of homelessness, most of us can't. So I it would be REALLY helpful and possibly save a few lives if y'all drew some attention to that, maybe had on an activist or two to discuss the potential threat and the practice of V-Coding (especially in the wake of Trump's attempted fuckery with the PREA act) and maybe link to a few gofundmes. Like do something, or fucking hell even Mention us. Before its too late

TubiRocks

There is something that connects all of Mel Gibson's movies, per that Joe Rogan appearance. He thinks people yelling at you in a language you don't understand is the scariest thing in the world.

Richard Cochnar

I appreciate that Will did not forget about peacewalker. It’s cannon!

Travis

Felix begins speaking at 2 minutes and 36 seconds. also amber

Tea for the Tillerman

Military intelligence kamikaze’d the CRJ because Trump took down the Gen. Milley portrait at the pentagon

Sam

Not really. 9/11 was a singular sudden event that galvanized support for Bush and the neo-con agenda. COVID was a long, drawn-out period of time which instead frayed trust in the government and power

C. Andrew

I primarily get my news and feelings preloaded into my mind from podcasts and YouTube shorts, but the Vanity Fair article they were talking about (Liz B linked it above) was pretty good and worth a read. Makes me realize how busy these pie in the sky, do nothing, champagne socialist podcasters really are, like seeing a bit how how the sausage is made. It was heartfelt, not necessarily the type of 'durrrr dirt bag left meanies' type of article. I'm a recovering articlehead, hence the YouTube shorts to keep me grounded, but this one was pretty good.

K H

I don't think a podcast is going to save your life. Can you describe more this passport situation?

Alex Payne

Amber saying "full of beans" every episode that she's on gives me life

DiamondDave

Metal Gear Solid 8: Tactical Breather

DiamondDave

A fair analysis but still i liked that movie I think because as Will points out Butler's depiction of an LA detective is most likely spot on.

DiamondDave

The movie shouldn't work at all for all the reasons you mentioned.

K H

Seek help.

Lukas Kuligowski

me and the other Amber heads are thriving rn

K H

To punish dissent. Harvard doesn't need the money(right now). All these big colleges are just venture capital funds.

K H

Please no.

K H

Huge aura boost.

Laura

My dad actually said, "there was an air traffic controller school for white people and they had to shut down because their students couldn't get hired." There was an air traffic controller school. For white people. And they had to shut down.

Blingo Starr

R*tard is back boys, we’re truly free of the woke mind virus now

Mark

He’s in his bag on these movie episodes

Return of The Mac 2nite

American fascism is similar to the Italian fascist model in that the bureaucracy is poorly managed and only the image is maintained. The book Zionism During the Holocaust really lays out how lasse faire Italian affairs actually were on the ground.

Bugger Off

A big part of Ronin takes place in NICE Mr Movie Mindset

JM

Eephus

JM

They’ve created a production company and are involved in Eephus

justdave

That explains all the plane crashes

Aaron Enold

As a guy who had a twice divorced dad growing up.. The first time I saw Den of Thieves I said “Oh wow that’s exactly what song he would be listening to” when Big Nick went home to see his family

justdave

Maybe they all just had a bad altitude?

buttface

Why did this turn into a movie review halfway in?

Karl Childers

For the record: you CAN smoke MDMA. [Redacted] did it with a meth pipe. I don't know how well it would work in a joint/blunt, I assume you'd need to use more of it but it seems plausible.

Badgrapple

amber is definitley going to force a lot of bad movie reviews to fill time so she doesn't have to admit the trump admin is really scary and her halfhearted attempts at being a contrarian chudwhisperer havent gotten anywhere.

SkeepyBeeper

As a former Republican and Trump supporter I still feel like there were conspiracies to make him look bad when it really wasn't that hard. The reason it had to be conspiratorial and at that depth is because if they just called him out for all the shit that he was doing they would be pointing five fingers back at themselves. I'm thankful for Trump and covid, both broke my reality and completely demolished my trust in media, in the police, in our economic system, in our health system, all of it right down the fucking drain. Now I listen to podcasts like this one that I don't even agree with, due to the fact that for the most part they talk about the system as if it is salvageable, and that in turn reinforces it.

SkeepyBeeper

I'm also thankful for cumtown nicks comedy allowed me to get exposure to opposing views, even if every single one of them are for the most part are half brain shit takes.

Thom

that's pretty good. Especially considering covid/trump broke so many people's brains. Everyone became an armchair PhD nutritionist suddenly

Matthew

To escape from the misery, and check in on the state of dumb-guy entertainment.

Michael

The collision at the D.C. airport is revenge from Air Traffic Controller gods for the sins of Ronald Reagan.

K H

You literally admitted to living most of your life as a retard yet somehow think everyone else is a half brain. You just grew half a brain to partially understand what's going on. You're still actually just a dumbass. Glad to have you bozo take a seat at the back.

True Horror Productions

Laughing my ass off at Felix making fun of dusting off retired slurs. Buddy of mine got swarmed by libs and cons alike for joking about chinese censorship because who gives a fuck, but the interesting part was that the lib ones all went out of thier way to use thier precious rediscovered light slurs. It was like they were teenagers again, they love it soooooo much it's bonkers. Like it was HURTING them to not do it for however long its been

SkeepyBeeper

Yeah basically me. I've come to the realization though that there's no escaping pollution eat as good as you want, you will still eat plastic and petroleum biproducts. I know there was a huge push towards organic and a lot of people were going crazy at the same time over the vax and Bill Gates new apeel produce coating. You can try but most likely you're too poor for organic or you're rich enough to still buy shit that's wrapped in plastic. I don't really eat bread or use seed oils, that's pretty much my diet. I prep all of my own ingredients and get them cooking ready, and vacuum seal my meats. Leading to easier cooking and I just make more than I need constantly to alternate left overs so I'm not doing any highly processed foods.

K H

Actually makes me think I should stop saying it tbh.

Nathan

Thank you Brandon for being TOUGH and SMART on white ppl

SkeepyBeeper

People like you are the reason why dialectics are dead, the only thing you have is devicive drivel good job retard inhibit evolution.

kenton

it says he still gets chapo money

Thom

honestly, at this point I think about half of Chapo's regular listeners are people like "I hate these douchebags. They piss me off. But Felix is kinda funny and Amber's kinda hot and I'd trust Matt with a grill so ok I'll subscribe"

Tooffixer

I have to disagree with the assertion that Europeans can be scary

SkeepyBeeper

I like them I think for the most part they are unbiased (in the fact that it actually sounds like they thought about what they think). They find amazing guests. I'd say a solid 90% of the time I'm enjoying myself. I think for the most part all of the alternatives are just people saying nothing new or even really entertaining. By the way man if you've got any podcast recommendations I'm all ears. I drive all day and sometimes I think about running off the road just to induce some fucking excitement around here.

nick

I agree that butler is/was the best part of it. Otherwise I think I have an allergic reaction to Pablo Schrieber. In contrast I really enjoyed the sort of similar Triple 9, also about corrupt cops doing a heist.

Pvt. Jenkins

Our beatiful drunken queen 🥲

Thom

check out The Dollop for sure

George Gallowgay

That would make sense if Harvard was strapped for cash. Somehow that’s not how I picture the Ivy League. What we do know is that they fired their own president for not disciplining protesters.

Thom

also Bryan Quinby's Guys podcast. He's kind of a historian for dumb guy shit (i.e. good shit)

Drew McGill

Will, make sure you watch “Law Abiding Citizen”! Also in Den of Thieves 2 they say that they are all cops or some shit lol so it wasn’t just Nick.

AMBER EPISODE LET'S GOOOO

C. Ries

It’s not an Italian movie if it starts on time or the projector doesn’t break midway

Ksizzle

All this poking fun at the haphazard and stupid nature of maga and their actions is starting to feel like cope. There’s a sense of apathy coming from yall lately, and while i get it, it feels insensitive. Pretty easy to just laugh it all off when you’re well enough off & white

Ksizzle

Give more weight to the brutality aside from just joking, encourage more organizing than apathy.

Oliver Clozov

they had an episode with jael holzmann recently but it was Really Bad

Turlough Kelly

Heat is also a ludicrous and non-good movie though.

king_von_diesel

They tried, and the Democrats arrested the protesters.

Sheep

The middle ground of the sopranos and the yakuza is of course the Chinese Triads, who are mostly just old guys who drink tea together... but some of their nephews smuggle fentanyl and whatnot

Kinetics Video

Ah yes, join those very clearly actually addressing these problems organizations that exist in this country. How could we forget

king_von_diesel

The sheer joy in Will's grunt when the Den of Thieves sequel got announced was fantastic

K H

Give an example of what you consider a half brain idea.

Ksizzle

If you truly believe there’s no organizations around you that share your values then find likeminded individuals and start your own. You’re displaying the “whats the point” apathy im talking about. Also stfu with “ah yes” snark

Kinetics Video

Amber: I would like to tease something that we've been working on with China *reaches for AK and PLA uniform under desk

Kinetics Video

Think we already got that trip with the Reagan Revolution, but hey if you're right and we get to see Congress get shelled I'm not complaining.

Kinetics Video

He was eaten by an alligator, that's where they send his checks

Stephen Schwartz

Anyone else enjoy it more at 3/4 speed or am I just a dumb monkey man who needs words slow to understand smart and funny

Chapo Bath House

It's hard to know how much we should be concerned about anything this administration tries to get done. That said, I've heard too many barely online, nominally progressive guys in their 40s blame DEI for any disaster to not be a little concerned about how widespread this thinking will be, and what downstream effects this will have for normal people at normal jobs.

J. A.

my penis is none of your business

J. A.

J. A.

pretty cool stuff ngl

J. A.

organize organize organize, why don't you organize a meeting with me and your gf so I can reorganize her guts with my ding dong

Tim Mullen

Chris’s background laugh makes the episodes so much better

Chapo Bath House

Chris, please make Amber 100% louder than everyone else

Chapo Bath House

I still say "bad food restaurant" so often I forgot where it came from

Jon Rehm

Frost Warning

J P 3

The beginning of the end of the George W. Bush administration was following the 2004 election when Bush bragged that he had some "political capital and intended to spend it". Rove talked about how he was moving forward with a plan to institute a permanent majority. They then proceeded to push to privatize Social Security, which generated the first major domestic political backlash. Iraq continued to go bad. Then there was the administration's response to Katrina and the Republicans were absolutely cooked in the 2006 mid-terms. I'm sure the Trump team is going to be even more pathetic and self-destructive. However, it is also hard to overstate how incredibly hapless the Dems are right now as an opposition party. On the one hand, the party has built itself around vote-a-holics who show up in every election. On the other hand, the party has no idea what it stands for, and will struggle to win support from anyone who is not already a habituated voter.

SkeepyBeeper

Hell yeah dude highly appreciated!

SkeepyBeeper

Guns bad so we need laws to restrict them. I'm just saying he claims constantly that he's no political genius, he doesn't really follow things too seriously particularly in cumtown because he saw the space as counterproductive, hypocritical, and corrosive. So most of the time when they're actually just talking about politics it is just half brain stuff that he's heard and seen and passing. Maybe half baked or carelessly thought of or detach from sentiment I don't know how you want me to word it I'm not saying that he's stupid by any means. You're the one saying that I'm stupid for thinking and evolving. In high school and college I was left and wanted berny, until his candidacy got fucked over by the DNC. I've spent my whole life flip-flopping on different parties because different parties represented what I thought at the time throughout my life. The only time I was for Trump was when I heard his speech and he was talking about being anti-war. I have family that's in the military and they are fucked up due to it, and I'm sure that you can use your context clues and understand that we haven't had a justified war since world war II and the only reason that shit popped off is because of world war I which was also unjustified and a fucking mistake. People are dynamic and unique not everybody's a fucking cookie cutter robot like you who their whole life thinks one way. You are the same as the retards who shaved their heads put a black block as their profile. Youre divisive and detrimental to any sort of progressive and leftist ideology, because you open your fucking mouth before you can think which I doubt you do that either.

Aṭā

Amber's call out on small planes didn't take long to get proven correct

king_von_diesel

O'Shea Jackson getting all this love made me so happy.

king_von_diesel

Are you saying that like its a bad thing. It's kind of unclear from your word choice

Fat Cobra

Fuck fluoride in the water, if we're adding a drug, I choose MOLLY! That's a chance I can get behind

DS

Concerned about the lack of discussion anywhere about Musk's takeover at GSA, Treasury, and OPM. Absolutely fucking insane.

sappho.io

Yeah, I was gonna say, jesus what a stupid analysis from her lol

Dildo Saggins

I love all the reddit threads of people complaining about how the Dracula Flow guy blocked them or berated them or tried to shake them down for money. How is this not better this way I would be much more upset if he were a kind upstanding person

Dildo Saggins

"I knew the perc was fake but I still ate it because I'm a gremlin" is the phrase that will be playing on repeat in my head when the DMT floods my brain

B b

Hollywood Libs are cringe for defending Roman Polanski Based Will is epic for defending nazi Mel Gibson’s hog-slop

ilkash

“Harvard won’t help deport pro-Palestinian students because the school will protect its bourgeois students out of class solidarity” is one of the stupidest fucking takes I’ve ever seen in my life

Tyler S

Excuse me, what’s wrong with seeing Staind in concert? Admittedly it’s been awhile, and as fucked up as it all may seem, they’re pretty fun to listen to. Also Aaron Lewis has immaculate politics.

O'Shea Jackson Jr. was the best part of Ingrid Goes West

Trump got elected and shit is literally falling out of the sky

Chuck

"You're too full of beans" might be the greatest phrase ever. Kudos Amber.

thicchatlogan

can't put down the cup (of sea monkeys)

thicchatlogan

right lol like yeah they're perfectly fine with calling the cops on them to be beaten, tear gassed then arrested and subjected to God knows what else, but I'm sure they would draw the line at calling ICE on someone's parents or some shit

ilkash

Amber is legitimately so fucking stupid I’m amazed anyone takes her seriously about anything

etienne

"they just need to set aside an unhabitable part of the wasteland midwest" there you go that's the Infinite Jest timeline creeping back in. make it happen President Johnny Gentle. we need the Organization of North American Treaties now

——

Check out rough week podcast. Two young comedians with some cumtown vibes.

K H

How do you view yourself as different from the people who come in here complaining we are unfair to Obama or that Russia hacked the election? I'm glad you're thinking, but that you want to call anyone a half brain when your world upends in what most here saw as obvious disaster is comical. You're like "woa fire hot!? Ok think I got this figured out now bozos." The gun thing is a great example. Prevalence of guns results in massively higher gun violence, especially in poor communities, and a huge number of mass shootings and murders relative to other countries. While revolutionary activity may require guns, the fact revolution is illegal means there is nothing to be gained from having widely distributed legal guns when we see the results borne out so clearly. Grenades might also be necessary in revolution but we aren't benefitted by everyone having easy access to grenades all the time just in case. The laissez faire grenade market makes as much sense as the gun market. Gun legalization is explicitly because buying shit is not revolutionary, and if that became an actual threat they would be made illegal for the people that caused a problem(see felony convictions). A reasonable leftist understanding of armed citizenry is actually organized militias capable of manufacturing and CONTROLLING their own weaponry up to and including high explosives, irrespective of what the law says. If your view is that you go to Walmart to purchase revolution as an individual on sale then you're an idiot. Houthis are not buying their resistance from Smith & Wesson. It gets annoying to explain shit like that and healthcare to people for 10+ years. People have some moronic take and then want to be respected here, and it's just not happening. I was nicer to you than the people that suck Obama's dick, but fundamentally you're no different if you can't figure out what is bullshit and what isn't because you want to hold to shit you thought was true as a kid.

thicchatlogan

yeah, her instant writing off of the Columbia protesters because "oh they're all just gonna be typical bourgeois PMC libs once they graduate anyway" while she doesn't do shit other than be wrong on a podcast every 6 months was beyond absurd

SkeepyBeeper

See that's something that I agree with I believe in horizontal power structures. I'm an anarchist. I'm into 3D printing and gun manufacturing. The revolution has to be horizontal before it can ever be bottom up. Or else you're just fucked. Without the ability to organize and survive chaos and power vacuums ensue. Guns are horizontal we've literally seen a city resist an entire advanced country for an entire year, even after every single fucking building has been rubleized. America is the world eater they destroy, so many countries have been slaughtered, and dominated, and it will come to us. Keeping a gun in the cabinet and some ammo will ensure either you or someone who finds it has a chance to do good with it. The problem isn't the gun, it's the sick society poisoned by the system. It lacks any and all opportunity to do any thing but toil over necessities, and maybe one day have cool shit that's designed to break. It denies us our base needs and makes us scrounge. I personally believe Maslow's hierarchy of needs has some credence to it, and I think making people toil over the bottom two sections of the pyramid leads to widespread mental health issues, actual health issues, and just general unrest. We need to focus on these issues and if we have politicians who don't focus on these issues (which we don't and we never have which is why I think the system is irredeemable), we need to have the ability to organize and do it ourselves. If you look at the robber barons a good read would be edge of anarchy by Jack Kelly, and what we did after world war I where we handed out coupons, anytime we've ever tried to really use our first amendment we get the fucking military called on us. That being said getting a gun from a store and being the most armed civilization makes it to where you can't just easily do something to us... and if we wanted to organize we would have enough power. I think the ability to manufacture guns is kind of a farce just being armed and having ammunition is good enough for a good amount of it. I like how Herbert Macuse laid it out in one dimensional man, that we are enslaved through our comforts. Right now we are in a frog in the pot situation and the water's hot but the air outside of that water is even hotter. We are scared to jump out and try to touch the thermostat and turn off the stove, and the longer we wait the more we are trapped by the atrophy that the evolving system has and is causing. When we do finally need them it's going to be a motherfucker. It's going to be way worse than you can imagine, but it's going to be even worse without the ability to use armed resistance against an armed military. Improvised explosives in weaponry though do come in handy, but for most people there's a large learning and skill curve for some of it considering a lot of Americans can barely count. I literally didn't say I was smarter than anybody and if I have but I don't think I did, I'm sorry. The whole implication of what I'm saying is that knowledge is refined as well as understanding. However a lot of people bitch about certain groups of people while perpetuating their existence and ignorance. I.E. screaming SJWs emboldening Right wing idiots. It's literally a whole fucking genre on YouTube... or was. I hope this provides some more context, even though I believe I've already provided enough context.

SkeepyBeeper

Also how do I differentiate myself? I try not to, but I've always been off the walls politically. I used to do debate and I try to use dialectics. I personally like to be able to argue an opposing view to me as well as I can my own. I'm not going to come in here and just belittle people for whatever they believe because, I've believed a bunch of crazy shit at different points in my life. If we don't see eye to eye we've had a completely different journeys, a completely different upbringing, or you're just at a different point in life and you may never get to my point and I may never get to yours. There's not a right and wrong. There's different fundamental understandings of reality. Trying to break them down and understand them is important. To me anyway. The first time I dropped acid it was the most profound thing I've ever experienced in my life. In that trip it felt like my view of the world was projected through one of those old school projectors where you set laminate sheets on top. In that 12-hour trip I peeled back the layers shuffled them and was able to have a completely different view. From that I have an understanding that all it takes is one experience to completely change that projection of reality. I'm sure you have some that I don't and I'm sure if I had that experience myself I would have a completely different view anyway because it's still being filtered through every experience that I've ever had. Does this make sense?

Zombiemask

I googled den of thieves to see the cast, and the first news article was #3 already cast and in the works.

Zombiemask

The Supreme Court Skeksis saying it made it even better.

Patrick Carroll

I’m mad at the podcast for not talking about how scary the news is 😡

Chubby Justin

I love dumb guy entertainment (reacher and the new limited justified series are great, i also fuck with some of the taylor sheridan content). I haven't seen anything good from mel gibson since flank steak ridge or whatever tf that WW2 novie he made, and even that was mid.

Chubby Justin

Can we all at least agree that Apocalypto is Mel Gibson's greatest movie ever? This is settled science at this point, right?

I am surprised that it even is news to people using MDMA that MDMA in crystal/"rock" form (to smoke, like Meth, bc the MA in MDMA is uh meth lol) totally can be smoked.... MDMA is an abbreviation for the chemical itself lol you can find in full unabbbreivated form on Wikipedia. And any chemical where the base can be freed to be bio-available via heat (Like crack, the HCL salt form of Cocaine now free-basable for inhalation bioavailble use unlike powdered cocaine...) Joint/blunt smoking of weed and mdma HCL crumbs mixed I assume would be possible if meth can be mixed with weed and smoked in a chillum or bong. I have worked only with poorer addicts and people in recovery--- methylated amphetamine molecules are the MA of MDMA. Only know about that bc of chemistry courses and medical coursework and fieldwork w/ drug users who may have relayed first hand experiences during medical attention or while in medical stays, lmk if I'm off here bc MDMA's wikipedia page is my source here for checking my abstractions on it rn.... No first hand mdma experience myself however so I reserve my take here to just conjecture so fr correct me if I got it twisted badly. MDMA is surrounded by odd takes that could be debunked on Wikipedia's page on it even but just isnt lol.

E

Made typos and etc but it was getting rambly idk, I'm tired but TLDR is yeah fr MDMA HCL "rock" oughta be as smokable as Cocaine is when in "crack" or HCL salt form or how crystal meth (in a form ready as crystals so not HCL usually) is usable by inhalation, snorting, or in a pill/cap just in different levels of potency and length (all cocaine makes for a cocaine effect just different lengths and duration usually, same for meth and likely MDMA. For meth, I know capsule form is felt slowest and takes longest to kick in and wear off but also is the least efficient use of the chemical and least absorbed way commonly used vs. how much and how fast it works in inhalation or in the nasal mucus membrane absorbtion, snorted methods.)

E

An awfully woke take for the era of DEI purges. The gaspacho forces oughta arrest and deport you for thought crime here (here: consideration) if you air that too much publically. It shows public sympathy and even Biden proved too that caring or being considerate is an un-American activity of concern ya know? (kidding but this era is the one of slow, dumb, soup-brained logic and constant public displays of loathing so ngl I get it.)

Gordon Schmidt

Just finished it- it truly is. Score another one for the chapos

Ardy Rezv

Chapo has always branded nu metal as right wing

Ardy Rezv

85% of her takes are so fucking stupid.

Ardy Rezv

They advocated for Bernie for five minutes and then gave up immediately when they had the slightest pushback.

Ardy Rezv

Trans people being scared, not funny at all!! 75 people dying in a plane crash 😂 😆. If only those kids knew their deaths would be used to dunk on Donny. I’m sure they’re smiling down!

Louie Luke

Is there an episode where they discuss the first movie?

drizzly_november

His most evil, and also one of the most thrilling chase movies ever made. He's a demon, but he's cooking with something.

Rick Slot

Chapo is so fuckin back

Elchapokabra

they didnt even name the fucking movie lol

Matty C

I think they’re talking about the baseball movie? It’s called Eephus and it’s about a beer league that’s losing its field or something along that.

Matty C

Harvard didn’t do any of that though, UMass schools did, which is a testament to their point. Harvard had super active negotiations and the students only got fucked weeks after the encampment ended by the corporation that controls the endowment and Fellows. The university itself and every administrator there tried to protect their students but no one else. Which goes back to their point: the people at risk are not the elites, it’s the middle and lower class international students going to state schools and the un prestigious non-profit schools.

I can't with Amber. But I can with the Chinese Communist Party. Unironically considering learning Mandarin and moving there once my pension hits (UPS still has one baby!)

Joseph Mabrey

Yeah you'd think for a socialist podcast there'd be something to be said for the richest person in the world essentially taking over the governments coffers.

Ardy Rezv

Felix and Will love gay shit so much. I’m surprised they are so hard on nu metal. Welcome my son. Welcome to the machine.

Khemith

This comment delivers.

Lauren Heinze

What Amber said about it being difficult to go after pro-Palestine students and deport them is so crazy. The universities would gladly collaborate!!! They and their donors hate anti Zionist activism on campus! Especially if given the barest legal fig leaf where they can say “well my hands are tied.” This applies particularly to state schools in red states where the university admin’s job is to suck up to the governor and donors. Some schools may not be willing to cooperate with ICE but if they suspend an international student their visa automatically expires and they have to go home. Which is getting deported!! The schools have so many records on this stuff too

Lauren Heinze

They called the cops at columbia! And Yale and UPenn and NYU and Emory and MIT and the fucking New School. All rich kid schools lol

Jaime Christley

In the 1950s, scientists discovered that you could take a bunch of your friends and coworkers on an expensive vacation, effectively for free, as long as you made a feature length motion picture at the same time. The name of this invention: CinemaScope.

Tony Howard

“He needs a 911. He needs a Covid” feels eerily prescient

Patrick Carroll

Imagine believing yourself to be a revolutionary and harkening back to the protests against Vietnam then being like: “They called the cops on us rich kids!!! That’s super evil and scary!!!!”

TentInQuarantine0

Just got my copies of No Pasaran! Amazing, until I realized I can't read. Great etchings, though! Thanks all, love ya!

Eamonn Curley

There's a Vanity Fair article out at the minute about them then mentions it and also about turning the Poppy series into a tv show? And the article finally explains what happened with Virgil haha

thicchatlogan

I don't think most of those kids were imagining themselves as the vanguard of the American communist revolution or anything man, I think they just noticed that the school they go to was involved in something they found to be morally unacceptable and decided to go protest it

treat

Amber is giving Frank Reynolds

Lauren Heinze

It’s pretty transparently repressive?? Obviously these responses are expected but like it is evil to violently arrest 20 year olds peacefully demonstrating. I was arrested protesting at a state school and people I know had their lives upended. State repression of left-wing movements is bad!! Regardless of who it’s happening to

protob1

lol ur gay, dude

Ardy Rezv

Wait isn’t that suppose to be a good thing lmfao??

Matty C

Columbia was the only school of the ones listed that actually so regressive policing from my knowledge, mainly because their significantly more direct ties to the IDF. And that crackdown and Columbia was the only affluent institution that was anywhere close to what UMass, UCLA, SUNY, or Texas public schools saw. Harvard professors and faculty specifically stuck their necks out for their students in ways UMass and such weren’t able to because they were suspending faculty at the speed of light. It was certainly not a good thing but I don’t think Amber’s making the point that those kids are totally fine, she’s making the point that class consciousness still has sway for the Bourgeois institutions while the working class institutions get absolutely roped with way less attention.

Lauren Heinze

Lots of students at schools of all kinds faced repression tho. Off the top of my head UPenn and Emory and NYU cracked down pretty hard with the only real difference between the other schools you mentioned being pure numbers. Because they’re bigger schools! Professors at Emory specifically stuck their necks out for their students and got arrested anyway including a 63 year old woman charged with battery. Lots of arrests and really arbitrary crazy behaviors from admins. Like the schools are really dedicated to this mission of repressing anti Zionism. Obviously that repression took different forms and if you’re more well off ur less likely to be affected as dramatically but it still affects them. And I definitely agree that the private schools get more attention. Like cal poly Humboldt wasn’t talked about at all and they had a week long occupation of several buildings where they fought back and repelled the cops. But people are getting screwed regardless

Matty C

But that’s central to Amber’s point. Everyone always looks at what she says in such a fatalis view. It’s pretty clear she acknowledges that people are getting fucked but she’s arguing specifically about the social and class cohesion of those kinds of institutions protecting the people at the top in response to Felix’s point about how Ivy League schools are most at risk. It certainly sucks, that kind of EO and league structure is far more aimed at USC and SUNY schools than Harvard and Yale which themselves carry the immense benefit of their class and social peers

Sean Carton

What are they referencing in the clip with the guy saying “I have no morals…”

wat

Always a good day when an Amber episode drops

Sarah S

Glad this is the top comment so I know I can skip this episode

Sarah S

Fuck off protob1

Sarah S

@KH Can you stop with the fucking slurs yet? Do you think it’s also cool to use racial slurs? There isn’t a fucking difference. Fuck off.

Eamon Short

I do love me any "Fuck you it's January!" Content

Patrick Carroll

And you are telling me that the us government arrested students for protesting a war???? This has never happened before and is the worst thing ever. I am appalled. 😱

Eamon Short

Yeah, he's made one good movie only. It just so happens that Apocalypto rocks cock. He pulled a Tim Burton. He's a guy who even his "good movies" I hate, but somehow accidentally made one good movie but it's a masterpiece (in Burton's case, Ed Wood)

United Eric Emirates

Another awesome movie review but crazy they didn’t include any shoutouts to the ‘Gomorrah’ (the Italian tv series not the actual criminal organization). Not only is the look and feel they fawn over a hundred percent influenced by it, they even casted Genny Savastano himself, the king Salvatore Esposito (and Ice Cube Jr’ brother from another mother) as one of the Serbian ecstasy goons! I also felt like the bad bitch love interest’s character owed allot to the Patrizia character in said brilliant series. It’s kinda all right there.

congund
