After listening to the two TA eps and now this, I am really living for the way that this story has totally melted Brace’s otherwise very articulate brain into goo. He keeps trying to give a high-level summary that puts it all into perspective and literally can’t lol. It’s so good.

You could tell he was going shitlib in the story itself. Turns out actually the systemic upper workings of capitalism wasn’t the issue, it was actually China! And now Elliot must ally himself with members of the 1% (and Darlene with the FBI, who it turns out were actually good guys, the only reason they were temporarily evil was because that guy was working for China…) to take down Chinese bad guys, and also along the way it becomes important to RESTORE the facets of capitalism that their hack took down. So when it’s all over, they restore the workings of capitalism, and just distribute a single UBI payment. Victory!

I didn't quite interpret it that way. I thought they were just playing up the delusional fantasy angle more and more. Like the entire second half of the show didn't even happen. Or if it did, it's not that ELliot is helping the 1% but that he's being used by all sides and there are no good outcomes. But yeah, the show definitely went downhill.

@Richard L, I don't doubt that he had corny and bad politics. (Though that passage he has about Kissinger and Cambodia is fantastic). Virtually all the celebs have stupid politics. I don't think folks liked Bourdain for that. Honestly, Felix's impression made me laugh because I also find something corny about him, but I can definitely see how someone who made a career around a philosophy of "you should be curious about other cultures and the tasty things they offer" would become popular.
