To the europeans converting to judaism story, yes it is a tiny phenomenon in striving academic circles in germany austria and apparently sweden. In austria we also have the draft but you can do civil service instead, or you can do holocaust memorial services, which is mostly abroad working at former concetration camps or archives etc. It is basically only for the upper class bc you mostly pay it yourself. I’m not American and yr right there are few American com/socs. However Communism/socialism can quickly revive when conditions are right. This is because they are the only alternative to the relentless exploitation that come with class based societies. Capitalist ideologues know this. At a guess, your average Chapo listener decries loss of personal ’freedoms’ , doesn’t like overtly wealthy parasites, but has zero interest in the idea of radical egalitarian economic restructure. Left and right have been reared on liberal fetishization of the individual. You’re going to have to get mass desperation in the US before the realisation that you have to act communally to change direction. But that desperation is definitely coming. You are going to have to have a civil war and those that give a fuck about future generations have to be prepared to actually die to achieve anything. That thought does not come easily to normies or alts reared on movies, gaming and general self-gratification.
