For probably a year I was doing John Mulaney’s Ice T bit about not knowing typical fetishes, deviant behavior, etc. then I realized it was his bit but I really thought I came to it independently. Now I’m sure it was something built into the show intentionally to make slightly higher than average IQ assholes feel smart. Garrett Dillahunt also played Jack McCall in season one of Deadwood! I think they brought him back because he did a great job in a thankless role, so they wrote Wolcott in specifically so he could get another shot at it, and boy does he hit it out of the park. Honestly they should have had him play a completely different character in season three, and then done it again for the movie.

I think there was a reddit post or something where a guy saw SVU for the first time and it had a mentally disabled victim and they thought every episode involved Special victims of that type. The post was by their girlfriend or something who as you might imagine was judged negatively until the error was realized.

Never watched an episode of Law and Order or any variant. I remember in 2001 friends who watched it everyday, so it's been around forever. I can't imagine with all the violence in the world, wanting to see tv writers imagine more. It is a sick reflection of our society that so many Americans tune in.

You guys are blowing past the effect of the voiceover at the top and the gritty nyc open and the shaky cam discovery of the first body - Svu really casts a spell where it’s saying those csi shows etc that stuff is Hollywood shenanigans but this team is real. This is all docu. What you are seeing happened. Then it’s an hour about the most rabbit hole plot twisting rape > shady medical practice > Hungarian mafia > some local pol covering it all up…and getting away with it - duh duh
