After years of what was arguably the most appropriate human response, being mentally tortured by her family relations her take away was to created an company entirely revolving around people’s challenging their misperceptions of the world and of others around them - but most importantly, their misperceptions about her. I’d argue that it’s the excess of navel-gazing that is the problem, most importantly for her. But good for her, she’ll make a fortune off the empty souls that can afford such nonsense. I work in the mental health field and I got a bit of a laugh out "new" therapy. It's all concepts that other modalities have been using forever. The idea that childhood experiences can affect how you think and behave later in life is literally one of the things Freud is famous for popularizing. The real debate is just how much emphasis should be put on childhood experiences, especially ones that don't involve some kind of serious trauma. Stuff like having negative beliefs about one's self and reframing negative thoughts are things from CBT. Basically, she just doesn't want to do the kind of therapy normal people do. She wants it to be fun and exclusive.
