Sending love to Matt, Amber, and their little one. Thank you for doing a show about the tragedy unfolding in Gaza and Israel. Y'all always cover this issue with depth, humility, and honest anger and frustration.

all the best to Matt and the family Will stop waving your head around the mic, or get an earpiece mic or something

Good brain haver

Wow so Hamas attacked military bases and then, eventually, went into towns and took hostages. Sounds right, carry on.

m@tt

Great guest. Great analysis as always.

@maltOmalk

hamas has signed its suicide note with a bloody flourish

Good brain haver

Ah yes, later in the episode I hear further: the hamas fighters who rampage around the West Bank "attacked military bases". What a noble struggle! It was very good of them to avoid civilians, and especially things like music festivals. It's takes like this that almost make the quaso-genocidal apartheid regime of Bibi and his cabinet of insane Zionist freaks sound reasonable.

Michael

Appreciate this episode.

Son of Baconator

He's been doing that for years, drives me crazy.

Joe

More concretely however; this episode almost brought me to tears. By far the most astute and textually rich analysis of these recent events, and a short-form resource that I’m happy to guide people to in screwing their heads on straight and leaving behind any excuse for their bad takes.

Davis G

Fuck Hamas. But more importantly, fuck Canada.

I am become reply guy

Thank you for providing a counterpoint to the insanity and gaslighting going on in the American media.

Smith's Fine Electric Amusements

music festivals held by settlers on stolen land, next to military bases that implement the barbarism of the LDF on Palestinians, aren't safe to attend and take part in, it's true. That you treat this people like totally innocent by standers shows the effectiveness of Israeli/American propaganda on the ignorant and the stupid. "They attacked a music festival! *lib face*" Why are they there?

Sam Schick

In their defense they did a land acknowledgment at the start

jake.durazno

the detail about the israeli snipers crippling a generation of palestinians was extremely harrowing but I couldn’t help but think of the quebecois wheelchair assassins from infinite jest

William Beamish

reminds me of early 2000s post 9/11 media

Jessica S

Reasonable for their own indiscriminate killing of civilians since, well, its inception? Lol.

Das_Steckdose

@11:55 That's non-sense, right? Israeli Intel knew but Netanyahu just didn't care / let it happen, to have an excuse for what's happening now

William Beamish

oh I guess they said that in the episode - just got to that part haha

Isaac Suárez

Excellent episode. I listen to yall for the satire but, when it seems like the entire mainstream anglophone media has gone insane, I really appreciate the clarity. The fact that y’all did this episode, and focused on the issues that Gazans (not some abstract “Palestine,” “Israel” or petty squabbling diplomats in foreign capitals) are facing speaks to the quality of this show. Keep it up!

J P 3

Very good discussion. One would hope that the Biden foreign policy team is taking a more nuanced and measured stance privately and through official channels. Unfortunately, not much grounds for optimism on that score. The real 9/11 analogy makes more sense in this case if we envision the Twin Towers as symbols for U.S. regional and global influence in the next decade. Netanyahu seems to be pretty intent to take the U.S. down with him. The case for U.S. moral leadership at this point is not especially high, but that doesn't mean things can't get lower. Of course, this is the least of the tragedies right now.

Is there a way to help the people in Gaza get supplies? I don't know how to go about it. Food , medicine, some kind of charities?

Last Years Man

I've never been more desperate for a Chapo episode than this one... thank you.

Jonathan Nathan

The only way this is true is if Mossad and the IDF let it happen because they want Netanyahu gone. Which by all accounts they do. Not sure if they’d sacrifice so many of their people to accomplish it though.

Last Years Man

I hate the way this discussion is framed out in the world and I'm sick of people who want peace being cast as naive. If we're going to talk about naivete, then the political class must acknowledge that the only hope for a non-violent outcome to this conflict is a two-state solution and an end to the apartheid. I don't consider that a "moral" or "pacifist" stance. It's a realist stance. As long as the conditions continue, it is utopian and unrealistic to think that there will not be more violence and fairly likely that this will eventually result in a genocide by one side or the other. The people who only talk about security or maintaining the status quo -- they are the ones who are dreaming. the If people are horrified by that, then now, more than ever, is the time to push Israel to negotiate. Again, that has nothing to do with right or wrong, it's a material fucking reality. It's exactly why war, occupation and apartheid are untenable in the long term, because they in fact eliminate all other alternatives. JFK, of all people, said it best -- they who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable. Peaceful revolution (both words) is the only other option. But then again, for all I know, we may be long past any "hope" at all.

Garth Hillsborough

Feels really bad to watch the world cheer on the scourging of the Warsaw ghetto. Thankfully this show proves there is some humanity left.

No

I highly doubt they let it happen, because they never needed a provocation to murder Palestinians in the past, and they would not have let them take so many hostages this time. The logic is working backwards from 'the Mossad is competent', which is not historically true of any iteration of a Gestapo anywhere in the world. Arrogance explains the intelligence failure far more than conspiracy.

Excellent stuff

Elliot robinson

literally the only good coverage of this situation i have encountered. thank you so much

Karl Childers

i have to insist that the two options presented here are not mutually exclusive. israeli intelligence likely had some foreknowledge of the attack and saw an opportunity for sympathetic PR and advancing their genocide program, but they were also certainly basing that decision on incomplete information and were not prepared for an attack as sophisticated as the one they got

SoldierBlue

Saw him doing that on Jesse Ventura

SoldierBlue

Felix has been solid on Twitter

K H

If I listen to the events anywhere else I'd go insane.

Karl Childers

it isn't malice OR incompetence, it's malice AND incompetence

SoldierBlue

I want a Will doll for my dashboard

Cam C

Oh fuck off

K H

I expected something given that they bulldozed the streets not long ago, so my thought is that it's a bit of both. Which I mean, a lot of times agencies like this(FBI included) will use various means to try and goad people into action so they can be caught, and sometimes the result might get away from them.

K H

Liberate me Xi.

SoldierBlue

B-, labored imagery, unoriginal.

BryceSprungstein

its plausible, but to reiterate something Felix said- this is a huge blow their intelligence and defense consulting and tech sector, which itself is a huge part of their economy. Even as split and divided (and shady af) as the Israeli security state is on the issue of Net.'s government I don't think they'd risk potentially killing that industry

Good brain haver

You can support Palestinian autonomy without gargling the cum of these savages.

SoldierBlue

I wanted to say slaughtered, but laughter isn’t allowed, so sed, I guess. (You’re allowed to go back to Twitter now)

SoldierBlue

You’re going to die trying to suck your own cock

Doug Cartel

this very much mirrors 9/11 in the sense that Hamas used to be a Shin Bet catspaw to fight leftists and complacent intelligence agencies let this happen and the army gets to be praised endlessly for mopping up the mess the intelligence agencies made, like a murderous janitor

Jessica S

I appreciate all the analysis, all.

Cam C

But Victor, that’s mUrDEr!

Skip Grumblis

I might unsubscribe. You guys make me think.

Cam C

Problem is asymmetrical power. Israel has the backing of the other sovereign powers to genocide and apartheid all they want, there cannot be a 2 state solution without foreign intervention that would require foreign military presence to keep the greater of the two powers in check. That’s just not how the international community is set up, in fact, a 2 state solution is far more likely to include foreign military enforcement of the apartheid and genocide, as it has done throughout the storied history of the Israeli Palestinian Crisis.

Last Years Man

I agree that such a result would be more than likely. So that leaves us with... what?

Petrorenminbi

Can’t wait to dive into the comments I’m sure everyone is being very respectful and level-headed

Joe from Raleigh

Yes, death is terrible across the board. No one should be killed across the board. Now that we've gotten that out of the way, can we talk about why Israel maintains an open air prison camp for 2 million people?

Evan Scott

One thing I will say is that I'm a bit less pessimistic about how this narrative is going to play out. I don't think Israel has quite the same handle on it this time. Even having to walk back the accusations of baby beheadings and rape or whatever while talking about genocide and shit will begin to weigh on the situation

Evan Scott

Hopefully. I went to middle school and high school with a lot of Palestinian refugees and this struggle really is what introduced me to "radical" (or maybe outside the mainstream) politics and really made me think in more nuanced ways about what morality meant for the first time

Jameson .

Would the two-state solution involve an immediate transfer of land from Israel to Palestine? Otherwise I don’t see the difference. Not super familiar with the history, but wasn’t land promised to palestine while development was ongoing on it?

Last Years Man

my understanding was.tha the demand was a return to pre 1967 borders but that could be outdated

Karl Sinclair

At this point, what is actually preventing Israel from actually just decimating Gaza? Fear of retaliation from another government?

Nott Hemon

If I may push back a little bit on what Felix said we do have a pretty good example of what Israel is doing in Palestine. It’s the first 100 years of the reservation system in the US.

Natalie

i mean they're kinda doing it right now

Justin

Keep your mouth shut about what you think about Hamas. Any criticism of them plays right into the hands of the Zionists. My vision for a just world differs radically from theirs, but for fucks sake, their existence is the entirely predictable consequence of Israel’s actions over the last 70 years. The only blame should be laid on Israel. Furthermore if I didn’t want to get merked by some “terrorists” I would simply not live on stolen land.

Daniel Hepburn

Yeah, guys, don't criticize the fanatics who butchered women and children, because, ahh, Zionism.

Daniel Hepburn

Put your money where your mouth is, hot shot, there is plenty need for cannon fodder on the front lines.

Justin

You get what you give

Daniel Hepburn

Too bad for all the ordinary civilians, I guess

Daniel Hepburn

If anything, this depraved apologism irreparably hurts the Palestinian cause.

Justin

It wasn’t a moral judgment, it was a statement of fact.

Daniel Hepburn

Well, my moral judgment is that killing women and children is evil, depraved and cowardly, full stop.

Justin

Cool. Then I suppose I can steal your home and lock you permanently in an open air prison and you’ll retain that position??? If you put someone in bestial conditions, whose fault is it when they act like beasts?

firstwiddisname

“Interacted with israelis in their homes” is a euphemism just like “israelis killed, palestinians died”. Be more consistent.

C. Andrew

Lot of death, but those paragliders made me smile and gave me hope. So sick. Like a fucking Red Alert unit, incredible.

K H

I'm getting some Ukraine cope energy here. As Felix said you can only push people so far because they are only human, but because they are only human it is hard to see this having a beneficial conclusion. I am getting 9/11 into War on Terror vibes. The only chance I see is the fact that (as Felix has also pointed out), these gestapo militaries aren't built to handle getting hit back. In the end Palestinians surely know the cost of defeat will be brutal and will be paid until their family is wiped out, but some Israeli playing their Steamdeck can simply go Brooklyn or Sarasota or any CrossFit and continue to be as annoying as ever. This will of course be terrible for Palestinians but what is the alternative, especially now? I only hope a whole lot more Brace Beldens are out there to turn the tide.

C. Andrew

Israel has killed ~6000 people in their homes since 2005. It has done so maintaining a prison-apartheid state we call Gaza, treating 2 million people as prisoners and dispossessing them of their land and lives. If Israel wanted a conversation over tea they certainly have a weird way of expressing it.

Good brain haver

I condemn the slaughter of unarmed non-combatants, by any side, in any conflict. Literally the least depraved, least alienating statement you can make. The world seeing leftists do intellectual backbends to ignore obvious atrocities - rather than acknowledging and contextualizing them - instantly demolishes any credibility or moral high ground we once held.

Paul F. Holzfäller

IDF pilots need to paint little ambulances on the sides of their cockpits whenever they get a hit on one. Just to keep things honest.

Dang

Justin

No idea what you’re on about. If the assumption is that Palestinians have ever come close to enacting the violence the Israelis do, you’re deluded

Daniel Hepburn

You sound like an awesome and totally normal person. Did it also warm your heart when they raped and mutilated party goers and paraded their exposed bodies in pick up trucks?

Garth Hillsborough

Jerk yourself off with this "agency" bullshit. Every single time people start handwringing about the agency of colonial subjects it only redoubts to the benefit of the colonisers, as if they're in anything close to a comparable material or moral condition.

Justin

Your agency directly correlates with your power over your circumstances. Therefore it’s entirely reasonable to hold Israel to a higher standard

Daniel Hepburn

Yes, Palestinian agency can only be interpreted by white dudes named "Garth", who took some development studies classes at Sarah Lawrence.

Paul F. Holzfäller

I find it difficult to have any kind of double standard when it comes to slaughtering non-combatants.

Garth Hillsborough

Do you have solidarity with the liberation struggle or don't you, Danny?

Dang

Solidarity with these nuts, Garth.

BureaucracyNow

Came here to post this. Why gloss over the fact that Palestinians killed Israeli citizens over the weekend, just like Israelis are killing Palestinian citizens now? I don’t get why it has to be downplayed like that

mersham has some bad news

i was ethnically from a muslim country. shut the fuck up. you dont know what you are talking about.

mersham has some bad news

he doesnt care. just a braindead useful idiot making excuses for putin and hamas

mersham has some bad news

prison camp twice the size of washington dc. just stop shooting rockets. thats all it will take.

Major bit me

Hamas are the only significant armed Palestinian group left. If Hamas doesn’t defend Palestine no one will, no one can, and Gaza will continue as a prison in perpetuity

Jdav

Sorry some of the brown ppl are committing war crimes in retribution you guys. Shame they cant hold themselves to a higher standard than a actual state with support. I know you guys just wanted the status quo to not be deterred and its decolonization is *uglyyyy* im really sorry hope yall are ok. Solidarity with brother Garth

Dang

Yeah when someone comes from you - be it with an AK, machete or Predator Drone - I'll be sure to interrogate the context before I say whether it was bad. "Those people had it coming" sure is a great take.

Kevin Creaven

Thanks guys. Settler's reactions to this event has me feeling beyond dejected. Appreciate y'all.

Major bit me

Dumbass the Zionist entity is flattening Palestine not Hamas, an Palestine has been under a blockade for over a decade. Again no one was coming to their rescue so they fight for their own liberation, and Hamas is absolutely not fighting for the support of American liberals such as yourself who don’t give a damn about Palestinians anyway

ordna jela

Mohammad repeats several times that Hamas killed an unprecedented number of Israelis in this conflict

Ben

Excellent interview. never occurred to me so many Palestinians hasn’t even seen an Israeli. That’s truly mind blowing. free Palestine

NewTooshFatoosh

Lol you paid $5 just to say this? Chapo boys go “yoink!”.

NewTooshFatoosh

The key word is “their”. How did those homes become “their” homes? If they literally stole them they became an occupying force. They should be prosecuted for warcrimes as soldiers who brought their children in to use as human shields.

Xi

I can't thank you guys enough for this episode. I can't imagine how tough your workload is rn with Matt still being in hospital. Inshallah he will return sooner rather than later and at full health!

Justin

Victor you got an receipts showing you have this sort of anger when Israelis kill Palestinians? Or it just when the white people die that you’re so animatedly pacifistic?

mersham has some bad news

any time they excuse terrorist tactics its annoying. i guarantee u if felix parents/grandparents ended up going to israel he would be baying for revenge right now. these morons live in nyc, very comfy. their retarded mental gymnastics is generally what makes it fun to listen

mersham has some bad news

listen were from the only country thats ever dropped a nuke on civ pop… we dont have any currency in this opinion exchange. actually i have no idea where ur from

mersham has some bad news

matt has been secretly running the hamas op… this whole illness thing is just cover

fisher ilijasic

Thank you guys so much for this episode. Mohammad was a knock-out last time he was on, so glad to see him back. Especially impressive that this was whipped together unplanned (probably). Thanks guys

Oliver guerrero

BTW… I’m sure Mohamed’s western education, and liberal leaning ideals would go over well with the Hammas fighters. Because they aren’t radical terrorist who kill people that don’t share their beliefs 🙄

dd

lol

dd

You mad bro?

Daniel Hepburn

Gee, pretty sure massacring women and children and comitting unspeakable attrocities isn't exactly "fighting" for the Palestinians. Almost like they are forcing Israel's hand in ensuring the heaviest possible reaponse. Fuck you too, btw. Fuck your bullshit Hamas appologism and insane moral relativism. Plenty of us are able to simultaneously support the Palestinian plight while somehow also condemning mass war crimes.

Major bit me

“Massacring women and children” idiot this just isn’t happening EXCEPT to Palestinians. You are just too stupid, believing in unverified propaganda like that, tell me when you find WMDs in Iraq. The Zionist entity made peace impossible, so support Hamas, free Palestine 🇵🇸

K H

Mosaad pay your subscription? Cool bro.

K H

You're referring to the Saudis. Also you're a moron.

K H

Yea its good. Israeli settlers should be made to fear being as evil and vile as they are.

ordna jela

natural to be impressed when David gets one over Goliath

K H

They are. The only repercussion would be the 2 million Palestinians having no option but to fight or die. This is a rare case where the desperate fighters are actually geographically close enough it might matter. At some point it is bombing your own buildings and total mayhem. Palestinians have been living that though, Israelis have not.

K H

I hope so. The pushback on any story gives me only mild pessimism.

Evan Scott

Isn't your criticism basically the exact same thing they said in the episode slightly reworded

K H

Yes. Fuck zooted up racist settlers. I don't even care if it is true, fuck em. Fuck every colonizing settler to the beginning of time.

C. Andrew

We at Raytheon care! Please stay on the line, our call center is very busy. Unfortunately, the conflict in Ukraine has exhausted our stocks of shells and ATGMs, the current lead time on M795 155mm ammunition is [Five Weeks]. Press [1] to speak with a Kill Chain Sales Engineer or [2] to leave a message.

C. Andrew

Matt was one of the paragliders, many people are saying it. Many smart journalists saw it.

C. Andrew

Thanks, assignment received.

Blinky

Calling for genocide's a real cool move buddy. You are a troglodyte.

Axel H.

Interesting to see how divisive Israel-Palestine is even for leftists. Though it seems to be mostly hang-ups over whether Hamas is being “excused” for killing civilians, frankly a fairly pointless area of bickering. Libs, conservatives, and the mainstream media are mostly in lockstep that Israel is in the right, that they’re fighting terrorists, and that the US should support them. Genocidal language is everywhere. Taking any pro-Palestine position is already fairly radical. Not sure why we’re nitpicking over things that don’t change the big picture. I’m in support of Palestinians not being oppressed by a settler-colonial ethno-state propped up by the West. It really is that simple.

Darbley

I saw a headline that said, Israel was taking prisoners where Hamas had hostages. It was like the Katrina looting vs. surviving headlines

henry obrien

Where did u see them walking those stories back? Genuine question last i saw people were still saying it happened

Paul F. Holzfäller

Yeah the word “interacting” was doing some heavy goddamn lifting. Did the fellas from Hamas just show up for a friendly chat? Absolutely bizarre word to use.

Chris

This episode knocked me on my ass...

Karl Childers

i have seen maybe 1 or 2 people anywhere actually say "the killing of Israeli civilians is good," but i have seen over 100 people accuse others of saying that when what they're actually saying is something far less controversial like "Palestinians have a right to self-defense." hard for me to believe all 100 of those people were responding in good faith, frankly.

Ben

Earnest Felix hits different. Powerful interview.

mario why

was a lil disappointed by this too. Especially given all this talk of dehumanization.

Westerday

Yeah, I’m seeing Biden now confirmed the baby story unless he’s full of shit.

Evan Scott

I see a lot of people still repeating it but also the IDF refusing to confirm it (which seems like a big indicator to me) and still the only source is an offhand remarkable by an Israeli reporter saying she heard some soldiers say it as far as I know

Evan Scott

What Biden says doesn't mean shit to me considering a big justification for the Gulf War was a completely fabricated story about Iraqi soldiers bayonetting babies in a NICU but it is disheartening to still see it in the mainstream if it's not true

Evan Scott

Just saw a "clarification" from the white house published in wapo that Bidens remarks were based on Israeli media reports and that he had not seen "photos"

Eroq

Don't worry. You'll grow up eventually, kid.

Daniel Hepburn

I see. So Goliath was actually a 5 year old and David raped his mother before beating and beheading Goliath?

Adrienne Suydam

Apartheid: if you’re there, you’re aware.

Daniel Hepburn

Oh, it fucking happened. I mean, there the whole fucking thing was livestreamed by the attackers.

JBS

Hey everyone this guy pays 5 dollars a month to say stuff like this

Zach G

you seem nice

Oliver guerrero

Says the guy who pays 5 dollars just to be a hater…. Hater

Zach G

Been seeing a lot of mental gymnastics being done by a lot of annoying liberals and "lefties" online when the solution to this is very clear to anyone who knows the actual situation. Anyone who argues against giving equal rights/full emancipation to Palestinians should be laughed out of every conversation. If you can't do a "1 state solution" then get the fuck out forever. I pray for a future free of this dogshit media landscape and pathological grandstanding politicians.

stan says I'm done with sergio

He said modern example, which was the Nazis who did base concentration camps on the reservation system. Valid comparison

AKorgar

You're going to call people haters, you? Anyway, get the fuck out, clown.

AKorgar

Freak stepped out of a time machine from the Bush years.

Oliver guerrero

Yo momma so fat, the horse on her polo shirt is real

AKorgar

God, that's a disturbing parallel. But profound.

AKorgar

VictorB> Hey shithead, eat glass

purple splotch

The fact this episode ignored the easy to find videos and first party accounts of massacres at the music festival and multiple kibutzes is kind of gross. This isn't a zero sum game. Hamas are terrorist scum and so are the IDF and the Israeli government. Killing unarmed civilians, on both sides, should be seen as unacceptable.

AKorgar

"They're going to die huddling in a building" Yeah them and a lot more innocents including a lot of fucking kids. Have fun I guess

AKorgar

"We can condemn Hamas and support the Palestinians too!" None of you libs are supporting shit, you're going to post hashtags and nod your head in thoughts and prayers and then go right back to your stupid fucking lives because you live in the imperial core and you have zero fucking influence over what the imperialist machine does. And to be clear, that's the same thing I'll be doing, but at least I'm not thumping my chest all moralistically as if condemning Hamas or not condemning Hamas means a fucking thing. Palestinians are still going to be forced to live in a zoo made of broken concrete without clean drinking water and now they get to have space age bombs rain down on them because of this. Who gives a goddamn what you condemn

Terra Pin

Rape. Decapitation. Mutilation. This isn't hard. Free Palestine. Allahu akbar.

K H

Maybe. Why were you there or are you merely a parrot repeating stories of babies thrown on the floor in the NICU?

K H

Oh was the Palestinian cause being helped earlier? I missed it. Can you do it again?

K H

So if a bunch of Jews in WW2 busted out of Warsaw and killed neighboring Germans soldiers and also nearby civilians they would be savages? Is my context wrong? How about Haitian slaves wiping out French colonialists? The Israeli soldiers killed that were doing worse than this to Palestinians are dead "savages" right, because of the savage behavior we know their "service" entailed? Is that the context? More importantly, do you support the troops?

Will Wade

Oliver, you are a child.

Will Wade

I've taken so much psychic damage this last week.

Adrienne Suydam

And how many have you met & had conversations with?

Oliver guerrero

Haters or rednecks? I deal with both daily 🤣

Simon

theyve always been critical of sanders israel position

MLVF

The US and EU loudly giving an apartheid state a blank check for genocide in 2023 means it’s all over folks. The Empire won

Jennifer Wiren

Part of this, and it's a very small part and not really connected that much, reminds me of the Falklands/Malvinas invasion. The thing about ultra-nationalist regimes is that their rhetoric doesn't serve to protect people, it is there in spite of protecting people. If the Israel government was a liberal one, likewise with Thatcher, then they'd have to keep on top of the military, because they wouldn't have the rhetoric to fall back on. But they were ultra-nationalist, and they can skimp or redirect forces away from flash points or areas of tension. Thatcher mismanaged the British Navy and pretty much goaded the Argentinian regime of the time to try its luck. I suspect that something similar is going on here. Again, not wholly the same (very different in a lot of ways) but something like that.

Daniel Hepburn

Insane that you think condemning Hamas = being a boomer lib. Want to know who the real larpers are? The anti-Israel, pro-palestenian activists in the West. They have done a massive disservice to the Palestinians, whose conditions have deteriorated greatly from the time before the 2nd Intifada following Sharon's visit to the temple mount.

Daniel Hepburn

Umm, yes. If they slaughtered women and children indiscriminately and deliberately, they would rightly be called savages. Not that difficult a call here, guys.

The wazzzzaaapp bud light dude

Because many western leftists are white. So whenever they see brown people engaging in anti-colonial action abroad, their instinctual fear of “servile insurrection” happening domestically goes cray. They know the political order maintains their material comfort, so they have to go through a series of mental gymnastics of “I condemn Hamas BUT I support Palestinians!”

Jaime Christley

Well this was extremely enlightening/depressing! Depressightening?

Daniel Dermont

Love my boys. Love you your family and your people mohammad. I hope that this violence can make space for the justice that is so lacking and so necessary in Palestine.

Luke Rybuck

Thanks for this one guys. There’s a lot of uninformed people out there when it comes to this issue.

Major bit me

It is a zero sum game though, despite what liberals pretend. It is a political question that one side must win over the other - will the Zionist regime continue their reign of terror in perpetuity, or will it be broken?

Major bit me

Fuck you lib, it’s the Israelis who are LARPing as ancient Hebrews waging nonstop terror on Palestinians. A “peaceful” day in Israel is violence against the millions of Palestinians.

The wazzzzaaapp bud light dude

Mother fucker named Oliver Guerrero spouting off this stupid shit. Gusano, you’re never going to be white. Just accept it.

polarkeef

Israel good, Palestine bad. Didn't you watch tv

Wyatt Raley

If Argentina only owned the Falklands and the UK owned the rest of Argentina I think this would be more apt

Justin Haddock

The one thing I love about the chapo guys is they don't back down from their positions just cause they get little complicated. I know a few people who are free Palestine people who have gotten squeamish cause there are body counts on the Israel side. Peaceful solutions would be great but Israel is not interested in that

Oliver guerrero

HAHAHAHA @ the puto that said I was trying to be white 🤣 You’re the one Jew bashing with all the red necks and gentrifiers. But keep on kissing the white mans ass I’m sure he’ll give you his scraps one day

K H

You can tell the mosbots because they constantly post links to shit no one cares about.

@maltOmalk

i dont rate the chapo boys on this issue at all - they are playing for cheap likes with no nuance or critical analysis at all. listen to jocko and darryl https://spotify.link/jyAuD4MzQDb

No Relation to Henry

I’ve been trying to come up with a quip to respond to you but this is pretty incoherent.

No Relation to Henry

If only there was a Marxist anti-Zionist resistance group instead. I wonder why there’s not…?

AKorgar

When in this comment section not?!?

Hank

You're delusional

AKorgar

Felix you gotta stop trying to do this

Lexe

I haven't read all the comments, but so far haven't seen any Jew bashing. Unless you're one of those goys who conflate the Israeli government, with Judaism as a whole. Which is a pretty damn anti-semitic thing to do ...

Twistedsister

Sorry about your fucked up dick and brain

Daniel Hepburn

Keep on keepin'. You clearly have zero understanding of the issue asides from some casual reading of Finklestein and Chomsky. I was once young and stupid too so I get it.

Major bit me

Now you are just projecting more nonsense assumptions onto me. Libs such as yourself desperately want to deny the existence of a clear political contradiction between the colonial Israeli regime and the colonized Palestinian people. This contradiction mus the solved by any means necessary, something every government since Ben Gurion has understood full well since perpetrating perpetual crime and terror on Palestine. Pearl clutching for collateral damage on Israel’s side, obfuscates how even the most peaceful day in Israel requires violence on millions of Palestinians. You are a liberal so piss off

Major bit me

The political contradiction between settler colonial states and the colonized people is clear and not complicated. People always go “uhhh well it’s complicated” and sure the details absolutely are complicated but the foundation is basic and easy to grasp, knowing which side a socialist should 100% support is basic and simple to grasp

William Beamish

awful comment by a dumb nerd. I will find out who jocko and darryl are and be sure to never listen to a word that they say!

William Beamish

great episode. If this episode made you mad at the chapos you are an ignorant little nerd and I hope you diarrhea yourself so badly that you are forced to sit on the toilet for weeks reading some fucking history

William Beamish

listen to my ass farting on your dumb face nerd

Good brain haver

Oh noooo, please don't fart in my face, please mister bully, don't shove me in my lockerrrr! Am I doing it right? The whole like fantasy keyboard thing? Oh no, pleeease mister big strong leftist, u r so scary, I am going to wet my pants

Michael Rieley

It was interesting to hear this perspective, but Bernie and AOC have the sensible position on this. The “mass murder is bad, actually” position.

Elliot Matheny

Condemning a people for fighting their genocidal oppressors is not sensible, it’s craven and ignorant

Michael Rieley

The Hamas attack obviously made their situation worse. 300,000 Gazans made homeless and 1,500 killed in the last week, and those numbers will go up. If this is going to be a war where civilians are fair game, the Gazans will be decimated — obviously. Stop being an idiot.

Natalie

the right position is condemning protests?

Natalie

They're also condemning Palestine protests which is not the correct position. And Hamas didn't make their situation worse, Israel did that with full-throated support from the international community. It is their choice to react to violence with 1000x the force that was brought upon them, just like the Iraq War was 1000x more violent than 9/11. They've been doing it for like 70 years at this point. Every "civilian" in Israel is a IDF conscripted militant whose sole job is to protect their ethnostate, they are raised up in violent national fervor from a very young age. They kill babies all the time with little to no retaliation from anyone. That doesn't mean they deserve to die but it leads to a situation where they can't expect to just kick someone out and then live in peace forever and ever. I agree this has made their situation much worse, but Gaza will be decimated because Israel chose that fate for it. If Israel wanted peace they would establish it, they would realize they don't need as much land as they think they do, they would come to concessions. But they will never do that without pressure, which will never come without violence. When has Israel's treatment of Palestine ever been impacted by peaceful pressure? They literally told the UN to gtfo.

Natalie

playing for cheap likes how? please elaborate? and your guerilla marketing attempt in a comment section you pay to be in is wack

Michael Rieley

The right position toward the Hamas attack is to view it as a moral atrocity and a strategic disaster. We have a first amendment and people can demonstrate. But straight-up celebrating the massacre, putting up flyers using the image of a paraglider, etc. — is moronic. AOC was right to say so.

Michael Rieley

If the established pattern is that attacks on civilians get answered a thousand-fold by Israel, then it’s moronic to attack civilians. Fear of Palestinian violence is not some sort of missing ingredient that will push Israel in the right direction.

Daniel Hepburn

Respectfully, no. I well understand the academic writings critical of Israel through the lense of settler colonialism / postcolonialism. I reject this paradigm, particularly as it has been applied to Israel. It essentially ignores pre-ww2 history and sigificantly mischaracterizes Palestinian idenity as a matter of historical fact.

Major bit me

Disrespectfully, it doesn’t matter what fantasy you have spun to justify it to yourself, Israel being a settler colonial regime is an objective fact. It’s not “academic” - Palestinians understand they were ethnically cleansed by settlers starting with the Nakba and through today. Ben-Gurion and all his genocidal successors didn’t spring out of the fucking soil, none of these Zionists did, so who do you think you’re fooling? Take your liberal bullshit, fuck off, and come back when you’ve got a clue

Natalie

You don't have the "right" position, you have your position, and you're not more moral than anyone else for it. I think the paraglider is an amazing symbol of breaking through a literal prison, which is what they were doing. I would love to see you talk about how the only reason this Hamas attack, badly planned like you said, has happened in the first place is bc Israel attacks them thousand-fold nonstop every fucking day. Sure an eye for an eye blahblahblah but if they wanted they could stop, and they choose not to. They're financially and morally supported around the world. And this is why the cycle of violence does not end. I'm sorry but I will never put the onus onto the people with less power because that makes no sense. Everyone in Israel is a member of the military at some point, that goes against the literal definition of a civilian. They are people, humans, but they are not civilians. And i went to a protest last night and no one was celebrating any massacre. they were talking about being massacred. Idk man I'm on lunch break and genocide is happening I don't rly give a fuck about respectability politics anymore. If your home and country exists on killing people, you might get killed. You don't get to live in peace for the rest of your days because you think they should be out of sight out of mind. But you're right in the sense that I wish it didn't come to this bc of all the innocent Palestinians now having to flee for their lives. I wish this never happened, but it did. And I support Palestinians resisting in any way they can, but now one group has put the whole population in danger. Notice how settlers take planes, while the second class citizens must carry everything they own on their back. But who's the Big Bad committing the moral atrocities?

Anthony Mendicino

So, you're position is what? That Palestinians should quietly return to their open air prison and take the repeated war crimes that israel imposes on them? How do you think someone who was born into that environment feels? How long would you take that treatment? How long would you condemn yourself and everyone you know to living in a concentration camp where your oppressor can kill or maim you, deny you clean water and food, deny you proper medical treatment? It's something that we in the comfort of our American complacency cannot fathom. Does Hamas' attack change any of what I mentioned above? No. Does it make daily life easier for the people living in occupied Palestine? No. But daily life was already untenable for the people that live there.

Robert Aitken

yes I have also listened to the show before

Robert Aitken

yes what the palestinians are desperately in need of right now are podcasters. please get a grip

K H

Yea, I was referring to Brace's pre podcast work in Minecraft.

I know that Spanish slang and profanity varies *a lot* from place to place, so maybe this isn’t true everywhere, but in Mexico “puto” is more or less equivalent to the f-slur.

Evan Nordgren

Well, haughty moral positioning aside, seems like hamas managed to induce a disastrous and predictable response

5nards

It is nice to finally hear some sensible perspectives on this. I agree the levels of propaganda surrounding this is just like 9/11, and it really scares me.

William

Shut up, cunt

K H

Have you ever considered one reason Jews did NOT violently revolt from the initial Nazi ghettos was that they knew they would not only fail, but that the result would be amplified atrocity against them and their family? The response is as predictable as the debasement they had been suffering would continue. So was it the more moral course for those Jews that waited patiently for slaughter, which by complete luck was ended by outside forces? Hamas is more willing to exchange the life of every single warrior for equal rights, citizenship, and peace for their families than Israel is willing to acknowledge Palestinians should not be killed like vermin. You are telling people they need to stop and acknowledge Dresden while they are being strafed by Luftwaffe, and that is being generous to you.

Jason Matthews

The attack is nothing to celebrate, but the conditions enabling it, if not its likely immediate results, suggest that the impasse may be coming to an end. Israel's geopolitical position will only deteriorate from this point forward, as American power wanes and its system of alliances falls apart. Things are truly mobile, to a degree that is both hopeful and terrifying.

Khemith

It does feel like after 9/11. The mediocre celebrate because now they have something to pretend to be backboned.

Daniel Hepburn

Pretty sure it literally just means "whore" - it is obviously used as a general slang term like "bitch"

Gengeros

Sanders and AOC have the position that israel should bomb Palestinian and if they fight back than that’s bad. Disgusting

AC^2

Hey does anyone know a good Palestinian/Gazan charity to donate to?

Evan Scott

man this podcast is a couple of right wing dipshits who have an episode about how McCarthy was actually a hero during the red scare lol

Evan Scott

This was the most important podcast I listened to this year. Learned so much and really helped shape my current view. Thank you boys.

Lesley Anne Noelle

It’s worse, actually…they didn’t aim at the Gazan’s knees because they didn’t have to, they had explosive bullets, hence hitting them in the leg was enough. Also the people from Sderot actually sat in their lawn chairs together drinking beer and watching the Gazans get hit, jfc. (See Abby Martin film Gaza Fights for Freedom)
