While this episode is funny, working your way up to management of a fast-food branch can open up more career opportunities than some university degrees, especially for someone like PJ, who will get by in life based on personality over education. His excitement about a course that could help him progress his career already gives him a headstart over his peers who go to university and will potentially still end up working in a similar job. It's been a while since I've watched this show, so I don't actually remember what PJ ends up doing.

Oh, I just got to the bit where he said he wants to go to college, lol. Well, I still stand by what I said. I have a few degrees, but I still think college isn't for everyone, and many people would benefit more from internships and short career courses instead. Uni definitely has many benefits besides education as well.

i won’t spoil what he eventually does go into but you are so right about this and his character type

I don’t want people thinking I’m against higher education. But I think we need to get rid of this pressure to force teenagers to go to university. If they’re not passionate about it, then they won’t much out of it. Getting a job at 17 and sticking at it, by the time their peers are finished with school, they’ll have money and experience that their peers won’t have. If I was PJ’s parent, I’d be so proud that my son was passionate about his job and wanting to go for a weekend course to further his education in the field. Even if that field was fried ‘chicken’. PJ is a lovely boy, loyal, with a kind heart. He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but he’s doing well for himself. Again, don’t spoil it for me, but I’d imagine going to university could crush his confidence a bit. I’ve made myself all emotional writing this, like I’m so proud of my kind-hearted and motivated son PJ 🤣 (in reality I’m a childless cat lady lol)
