Oh shit! I wasn't expecting you to react to this! This should be interesting.

Love that you watched this, wish you liked it more. The scene that you said was shot weird in the gym, was in Shane's pov, so we see what Shane was looking at. I wouldn't classify the book as YA, but its definitely smut, so the sexual nature of the show was warranted. The sex scenes are important because they show the dynamic between them.

i mean this very sincerely, i hope you will be respectful of the queer experience while watching this show even if you end up personally disliking certain aspects for whatever reason. sex is extremely important to the narrative and is not simply there for shock value or just smut. Queer people never GET to see sex portrayed in media the way straight people get to see it all the time. You’re speaking from the lens of having seen a million heterosexual graphic sex scenes whereas gay people rarely ever get to be represented on screen this way. What it’s like to be gay/closeted in a hypermasculine homophobic sport is something i’ve personally never even seen get explored before until heated rivalry. this story means a lot to queer people and being portrayed very raw and real the way this show has been able to do so successfully is a rare gem.

i don't know if people in the chat said this, but, while there are time jumps throughout the show, the first episode is particularly packed with them.

I wasn't expecting you to react to this, as a gay person I'm going to skip this one. I have already seen people react/review this show who didn't even try to understand why it is the way it is with the sexual scenes, who have made unnecessary/ignorant comments or made disgusted faces and I think that was enough for me. As a gay person, it's very triggering how gay love/sex is viewed and talked about vs straight love/sex. I already feel like I know what your reaction is going to be anyways. If you do end up watching the rest, I hope you're at least respectful (not saying you have to like the show) and read people's comments so you can understand the show. For any queer people who watched this, I hope you were okay lmfao 😭🩷

CJ

Very well said, agreed 💯

peyten

i don’t know if he even reads patreon comments anymore, so i really hope someone in twitch chat relays the message

CJ

I feel like he probably reads a few, just doesn't respond. Personally I think it's annoying when reactors don't read/respond to their comments, especially because comments can be very helpful providing important information. I feel like he wouldn't care much anyways. From past experiences on certain reactions he's done, he doesn't take feedback very well 😭😬 I do hope he at least reads your comment because I'm way too scared to even watch this reaction. I already know how he reacts to things when he doesn't like something (he becomes extremely negative and makes weird/ignorant comments) and listening to ignorant and/or homophobic comments about queer media just because he (and anyone else) chooses not to understand, it can be so triggering.

BigZa

i think that most of them don’t read them just so they can avoid spoilers because a lot of people love to be sneaky and spoil shows for them

CJ

That's also true.
