This was Quentin Tarantino changing history again in his film like he did in Inglorious Basterds. In actual history it was Sharon Tate’s house that was broken into and the killers killed her in real life. Tarantino changed it when Rick was drunk and brought attention to himself it changed the history to come to his house instead of Sharon’s. Also, Charlie was seen early in the film it was that strange guy looking for Terry. The Charlie they were talking about was Charlie Manson and that was his cult.

If you have not seen Austin Butler in Elvis, that would be a great reaction. He is absolutely amazing as Elvis. Also, the majority of the film was actually shot in Australia as well.

Cliff Booth was Brad Pitt’s Academy Award winning performance.

According to Quentin Tarantino, Cliff did kill his wife. It was an accident, she was standing in front of his spear gun, the trigger was super sensitive and he pulled the trigger during the argument. He then tried to save her and told the cops the truth. The police didn't press charges for some reason. So he is a killer, not deliberate, but still a killer. And yeah the Italian western you watched was "The Good the Bad and the Ugly." (Edit: Oh yeah you mentioned it at the end.) It's one of the most popular westerns ever, but the dubbing is kind of weird.

So this movie makes a lot more sense if you know who Charles Manson and his cult were. Charles Manson is the "Charlie" they keep talking about. In real life Sharon Tate (played by Margot Robbie) was killed by Manson's followers. That's how she is connected. Also we actually do see "Charlie" on screen. He's the guy that comes to Sharon Tate's house asking for Terry. Once Upon a time in Hollywood is Quentin Tarantino's alternate history movie in which Sharon Tate and Jay actually survive. Look into the Manson murders to understand a little more.

I definitely understand why the end could be confusing and I think you're at a disadvantage because you aren't from the US. The Mason Murders are pretty infamous here. For a long, long time they were one of the worst murders that could have happened. In fact, calling them murders is definitely an understatement. The end was brutal but that was supposed to be cathartic apropos Tarantino's alt history movies like inglourious basterds or django unchained where we are supposed to get bit of catharsis through the ultra violence against the "bad guys". i.e. nazis, slavers, mass murderers. I definitely understand how you could think this was slow if you didn't know the history of what happened to shanon tate or those murders. I remember when she was introduced and I realized what was going on the tension and anxiety for me was through the roof. Because I assumed it was following the normal history and I was so scared for everyone involved. Add all of the build up and anxiety, seeing them change at the last second felt some good especially when cliff killed everyone. Great job Mary!! Loved it like usual!! :D

Hey Mary.. you had the same eerie feeling in your gut like I did when Cliff went to see that old friend of his after dropping Pussy Cat off at that ranch.. watching it this time I didnt cause I knew how it would end.. but I also had an impending doom feeling because I knew or at least thought I knew how it should have ended since Im familiar with Sharon (not Shannon) Tate and how she was murdered by the Manson cult.. but Im glad this ended up being another Quentin Tarantino alternate history take.. like Inglorious Basterds. Also, Brad Pitt's character Cliff Booth is going to be in another movie directed by David Fincher called The Adventures of Cliff Booth.. currently filming.. It'll be nice to see David Fincher and Brad Pitt working together again.. Fight Club and Seven were both awesome. Im glad you liked it.. oh and that Bruce.. was actually Bruce Lee.. the guy was spot on with the voice.. but Bruce Lee's family actually spoke out against how he was portrayed in this movie and said Bruce would never pick a fight like that.

Damn I didn’t know that these were based on real people and now I fear being bullied on YouTube comment section lol

i mean, you're not from the states. It would be like shaming someone from the US for not knowing the Port Arthur shootings or the backpacker killer. But... youtube comments can be pretty mean so I'm sorry in advance <3

I can't wait to watch this with MC! There is an really good miniseries from 1976 called Helter Skelter that documents the whole Manson Family horror show. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the history. That miniseries was a staple of t.v. in the 1970s.

I enjoyed that. It's a shame it didn't happen that way in real life; instead, Tex stabbed Sharon 16 times, killing her and the baby. And Shannon Lee was not the only one upset by Quentin Tarantino's portrayal of Bruce Lee. I didn't even see this posted last week. I'm glad I noticed it.

I feel like if you read up on the manson family irl, and sharon tate and watch this movie again knowing that charlie was the guy who walks up to the house and the real sharon was on the screen you probably would have a much better experience. cause i loved it knowing the history going in
