Hi all,

The best way to get over the Black Templars disappointment was to paint up a few different schemes using the new Mk3 kit. It is AMAZING. So crisp, hardly any mouldlines, builds in no time and looks savage. Happy hobby has returned and I am ready to tackle those crusaders again!

Cheers, Henry

I'm very uncertain about these models. I think the designs are fine in a vacuum, but against what came before I don't believe the hold up. There's a lot of differences, from the shape of the legs and torso armour, the banded armour at the back, the bolter, and of course the helmets. If I was starting heresy today with no prior context I'd probably like this design a lot, but I'm here today with the context of what mk3 has looked like for the past 10 years; there's art and minis and books full of the previous depictions. So it makes it very hard for me to like these, I don't even think I'd like to use them in a new project, never mind putting them next to my 30 old mk3 that I have for my Imperial Fists. So I'm afraid for me the Mk3 design will now be fulfilled by 3d printing, which is something I can control.

Not for me - too much heresy already purchased. It's the scale rather than anything else. They will dwarf Palatine Blades, Recon Marines, Breachers etc. and are incompatible with any upgrade kits already purchased. The saddest part is that GW could have just released MKII, MKV or MKVI in the old scale but in plastic and made just as much if not more cash and not invalidated the old models.

I don’t play Heresy so the compatibility issues don’t matter to me all that much. Based purely on aesthetics and the “do I want to paint this?” factor these were an instant buy for me the moment they went on pre order. Don’t mean to offend anyone, we all like what we like, but the older squatty marines in my opinion look like kids in a costume with their giant heads and hands. So in short, I’m with you Henry, I think these are absolutely fantastic.

Brilliant! I absolutely love the purple scheme.
