Within a large morphic pool, the True Royal sat in meditation as seven large eggs were placed around her, all of them slightly poking out of the pool as energy emanated from each.

Just outside the pool stood a gathering of over a dozen gods of the Endless Empire, several of them True Royals, but the majority were Hive Queen goddesses of the Vespernat Lineage, there to observe and admire their leader as she underwent an important ritual.

Some of the True Royals looked a bit nervous and skeptical, though, as one of them spoke up. “Seven is... too many, isn’t it?”

“It’s more than I would dare recommend,” Odonestra sighed. Should Vesperia fail in her current endeavor, she was bound to suffer a severe soul injury that would take at least a few decades to heal, and that was with treasures provided by the Endless Empire to speed up the process.

“Do not doubt Her Majesty,” a Godqueen from the Vespernat Lineage said, arms crossed as she seemed to have full confidence in her True Royal. Perhaps more than confidence, she merely hoped for Vesperia’s success, as the more capable the True Royal proved herself to be, the better it was for the Vespernat Lineage.

As for what Vesperia was currently doing?

Laying the foundation for future assets that would serve her all the way to godhood and beyond.

After evolving to B-grade, Vesperia’s ability to nurture her Queen’s Guard had increased substantially, allowing her to display another aspect of what made True Royals so frightening.

Ectognamorph Hive Queens had several tiers of creatures in their eusocial colonies, ranging from mere workers and drones to the Hive Queen herself. Just under the Hive Queen were the Queen’s Guards, who were meant to ensure the safety of their Hive Queen.

For many Lineages, these Queen’s Guards were stronger combatants than even the Hive Queen herself, especially when they were all working together. Vesperia also had Queen’s Guards while in C-grade, and they had been her strongest creations by far, but they had still been very limited.

Their main problem was that they weren’t truly sapient. They were close, incredibly close, but they didn’t quite reach that level. Due to their limited faculties, they needed all their power to be directly granted by the Hive Queen herself, limiting them in both variety and power.

In B-grade, that changed, at least for True Royals. They gained the ability to create their true Queen’s Guards. Rather than being mere top-tier versions of drones, they became something fundamentally different. Something far more real.

They became truly sapient creatures, with independent thoughts and feelings, not much different from Guardians summoned by some people in the multiverse. Their existence remained tied to their Hive Queen, yes, and loyalty was not something they even had the capabilities to question, but compared to being drones, they were definitely something entirely else.

Perhaps most importantly, due to their independence in thought and actions, they no longer needed to be granted all their power directly by their Hive Queen. Sure, they were granted power by her, but they were capable of diversifying themselves after creation.

Most often, they would end up specializing in various ways. Some could become stronger warriors, relying on physical combat, while others could develop their skills in magic, becoming mages. Others would pick up other weapons, including those made by enlightened species, with very rare occasions even having Queen’s Guards adopting high-level technology into their Paths.

And that was honestly the key word: Paths. Unlike other creations from a Hive Queen, her guards had the ability to forge their own Paths, comprehend their own concepts, develop their own fighting styles, and even get their own skills and whatnot. There were even cases where Queen’s Guards proved to be extremely talented, reaching impressive levels of power and actually getting bottlenecked by their True Royal queen. Because in the end, they were still her spawn.

These Queen’s Guards would all be created at once and stick by their Hive Queen for the rest of their existence, living and dying together. Though, should a Queen’s Guard die, the True Royal Hive Queen could regenerate them once more. At a relatively steep cost, due to the complexity of the Queen’s Guard, though.

The process of creating them was exactly this ritual, which had been passed down since the very first generation of True Royals. The seven eggs Vesperia used were the vessels for her Queen’s Guards and had been carefully created by the Endless Empire precisely for an event like this. Vesperia could have made the eggs herself, even though it would have taken a long time, but it wasn’t a requirement. She technically didn’t need the morphic pool either; it just made the process smoother and easier all around.

Something all the True Royals observing her believed she truly needed.

“I am not doubting her talent, just that I’m not sure this is the time to test one’s boundaries,” another True Royal sighed, shaking her head. “In the unfortunate event she experiences failure, I fear it may leave a lasting impression, negatively affecting her confidence and future.”

“She has the right to try,” Odonestra simply said, not arguing for or against, as she, in truth, was also doubtful Vesperia would succeed.

There was no inherent limit to how many Queen’s Guards a True Royal could create. The more the better, naturally, but the Hive Queen herself did serve as a limiting factor for how many she was capable of creating.

In many ways, this ritual was also seen as a way to determine potential and talent among True Royal Hive Queens. All of them were naturally supremely talented simply on account of their Lineage, but there was still a difference in talent between them.

The more Queen’s Guards a True Royal could create, the better their potential, at least that was the general rule. For the vast majority, they could create four, with no one falling below this number, as they were all supremely talented by general multiversal standards. This was true for in excess of nine out of ten, and not because these True Royals didn’t try to make more.

By nature, True Royals were arrogant creatures, so many believed themselves far more capable than they actually were. Hence, many tried to create more Queen’s Guards than they could, failing in the process and thus forced to take a step back and be more realistic.

Most realized right away when they had bitten off more than they could chew, quickly stopping the ritual, lessening any backlash from failure. The True Royals who tried to go way beyond their potential would also fail right away, without suffering the worst backlash.

Due to that, perhaps a bit paradoxically, the riskiest rituals tended to be for those who were actually standout talents.

While most could indeed only create four Queen’s Guards, some successfully created five. These were viewed as elite True Royals and often served as leaders of their generation. Of the less than one out of ten that managed to create more than four Queen’s Guards, nearly everyone managed five, with the statistics of those making more not even reaching one in ten thousand True Royals.

Odonestra herself was one such talent, having six Queen’s Guards, all of them more than powerful enough in their own right to slaughter Godkings and Godqueens. All the leaders among the True Royal Hive Queen goddesses had six Queen’s Guards, except for four, who were viewed as the hidden power of the Endless Empire. They were the ones who served as the main reason why Rigoria had never dared a direct invasion, a quartet known as the Endless Empresses.

These four all had seven Queen’s Guards. Besides them, only a handful of other True Royals throughout history had managed to create seven, none of whom ever successfully achieved godhood. Even with such supreme talent, breaking through to godhood was never a guarantee, and the Path to ascension was fraught with danger and uncertainty.

In all those cases where someone successfully created seven Royal Guards, the True Royals had been trained from birth to reach their full potential, with some even having Bloodlines or Transcendent skills allowing them to stand head and shoulders above everyone else in their generation. What’s more, they tended to have been on the older side, having purposefully delayed their progress to reach B-grade in their most optimal state possible.

Vesperia was very different. She was incredibly young, not even a century old yet, counting the time she’d insisted on spending in Nevermore. Going to the World Wonder was a risk the leadership of the Endless Empire didn’t agree with, but Vesperia seemed to be almost in a rush compared to what they’d hoped.

To them, if she took a few millennia to reach B-grade, it wouldn’t have mattered in the slightest. In fact, they probably would have preferred it. Unfortunately, as a fellow True Royal leading her own Lineage, not even the most powerful gods of the Endless Empire had the right to tell her what she could and couldn’t do.

Her seemingly rushed evolution and lack of having grown up with the guidance of the Endless Empire were why Odonestra remained skeptical as she observed the ritual. A small part of her had hoped to see Vesperia fail instantly, realized she’d tried to do more than she could, and tempered her expectations.

Yet, at the same time, she wanted to see if Vesperia could truly do it. As the god who had spent the most time with the Vespernat True Royal, Odonestra knew that the young Hive Queen was never to be underestimated. She had exceeded expectations repeatedly, and the more potential she proved herself to have, the better it was for the Endless Empire.

Right then, all the gods were shaken awake as there was a change in the ritual chamber. Vesperia, sitting inside the morphic pool, frowned, and for a moment her energy seemed to grow unstable, as if something had annoyed or disturbed her concentration.

A few of the gods from the Vespernat Lineage started to look incredibly worried, but they quickly squashed any doubts and tried to stay confident in their True Royal. Odonestra used her senses to inspect the ritual, finding that, fortunately, nothing seemed to have gone wrong despite the small hiccup.

The next half an hour passed by uneventfully as complex runic scriptures spread across all the large human-sized eggs in the pool. These runes looked very different from what was usually seen in magic circles or formations, the writing cursive, weaving and winding around themselves in patterns that didn’t even seem physically possible.

Another hour passed, and Vesperia showed no signs of exhaustion, despite how long it had been. She simply sat there with her eyes closed, her mind fully preoccupied with creating the lives of the seven guards who would, hopefully, serve her for the rest of eternity.

Finally, the ritual reached its last stage as all the eggs were fully covered with runes. Each echoed with powerful life energy, but that didn’t mean they were successes. While all ectognamorphs, even the lowest clones, had Truesouls, many still didn’t even consider them genuine lifeforms. They lacked certain qualities that the True Royal was meant to infuse into her Queen’s Guards, and failure was very much an option until the final stage.

Even in instances where talented True Royals managed to infuse all the eggs, it wasn’t odd to discover that some of the Queen’s Guards weren’t successes. Some had only partly formed egos, some couldn’t show true intelligence, some had unstable souls, resulting in a limited lifespan, and, in some circumstances, the Queen’s Guard was effectively stillborn, the soul and body unable to merge successfully.

The more eggs a True Royal Hive Queen managed to infuse during the ritual, the higher the chance one or more weren’t viable. That’s why, even as the energy in the room rapidly wound down, this stage of the ritual completed, nobody dared to relax.

Vesperia slowly opened her eyes. She looked at the many onlookers, nodded to confirm she was in a fine state, before she stood up in the viscous liquid, allowing it to drip off her body as she moved over and stood in front of the first egg.

Placing a palm on it, she gave the order of awakening, and a moment later, the egg started breaking. With fleshy cracks, it slowly opened like a blooming flower, revealing a fully grown female figure within that looked somewhat similar to Vesperia herself.

With bated breath, all the onlookers watched as the newborn Queen’s Guard opened her eyes and looked toward Vesperia. Their eyes met for a moment before the newborn spoke.

“Your Majesty.”

The relief in the room was palpable at seeing the first egg hatch successfully. On rare occasions, all the eggs proved not to be viable, in which case the True Royal would have to start all over after a long period of rest to recover, so seeing one success was a great sign.

Vesperia seemed to be the least nervous as she acknowledged her firstborn Queen's Guard and moved over to the next egg, where she repeated the process of placing her palm in it. A few moments later, that egg also opened, revealing yet another familiar-looking creature. She, too, opened her eyes shortly and bowed.

“Your Majesty.”

Like so, Vesperia went through the pool one by one, awakening her Queen’s Guard. The third, fourth, and fifth all proceeded smoothly, much to everyone’s relief. With five Queen’s Guard successfully born, this could also be considered a success that many True Royals would be happy with, but Vesperia simply moved on to the sixth in a casual manner.

When even the sixth was a success, Odonestra nodded with a big smile. Vesperia had already surpassed expectations and achieved a result everyone would praise her for, but that didn’t mean they weren’t all curious to see if even a seventh guard would be born.

With careful movements and under the gaze of all her sisters and newborn guards, Vesperia moved in front of the seventh and final egg. As the six times before, she placed a palm on it and infused her energy, ordering her final Queen’s Guard to awaken.

As with all times prior, the egg opened like a blooming flower, revealing the female body within. A second passed, the tension high as ever, before the seventh guard opened her eyes, looked at Vesperia, and bowed her head.

“Your Majesty.”

Odonestra smiled, scanning all seven guards with her senses, quickly confirming that none of them had any problems. What’s more, they were all in great condition, not at all lacking in power despite just being born.

One by one, the Queen’s Guards proceeded to fully absorb the eggs they had been born from, each changing shape to form loose robes that they would later be able to model into whatever shape they desired.

Vesperia watched on with a smile of her own as she allowed them to do their thing. After a little while, she looked toward the onlooking gods, thanked them for having come, and subtly let them know that she would like some privacy to better get acquainted with her new lifelong servants.

Only Odonestra remained behind by the time all the Queen’s Guards were done absorbing the eggs they had been born from. As they each got done, they greeted each other, out of politeness more than anything, as they all innately knew what they were and the purpose of their existences. Still, that didn’t mean they couldn’t show individuality; in fact, it was hoped they would.

Of course, the hive would always be above anything else, but a bit of personality had never hurt anyone.

Looking at Vesperia surrounded by her Queen’s Guards, they all looked like sisters, perhaps even twins. A definite strategic advantage, as the Queen’s Guard all had the ability to mimic Vesperia’s aura and would look identical to her in their full combat forms, allowing them to act as perfect bait to protect their queen.

Giving the Queen’s Guard a moment to themselves, Vesperia exited the morphic pool and walked up to stand beside Odonestra. The two shared a look as the divine True Royal nodded her head.

“I’ll admit defeat this time around. I shouldn’t have questioned your capabilities,” she said with a smile. “Though I do have to question... something disturbed you about midway through. What happened?”

Vesperia looked at her seven guards as she sighed. “I just felt a moment of regret, which made my thoughts wander.”

“Oh?” Odonestra exclaimed. “What about?”

“I should have tried for eight,” Vesperia let out a sigh, making Odonestra stare at her for several seconds.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I could have definitely done it, but the difficulty struck me as being at a comfortable level with seven,” Vesperia explained. “I know every additional one makes it exponentially harder, but I would have at least liked to give it a try. Not that I regret what I gained.”

Odonestra continued staring at Vesperia before she couldn’t help but chuckle. The Vespernat True Royal was indeed as arrogant as all of them, if not more so.

“I wouldn’t complain either, but ensure that your new guards get a good start in life,” Odonestra said.

“Don’t worry,” Vesperia assured her. “They are my Queen’s Guard; I’m certain they will not disappoint.”

The two stood together for a bit longer before all the Queen’s Guards were fully prepared. As one unit, they approached Vesperia and bowed their heads as the firstborn stepped forward and spoke.

“Your Majesty, on behalf of us all, I thank you for granting us life, and despite it being nothing more than a sentimental gesture, we all wish to reiterate our absolute loyalty and swear an oath of allegiance,” the Queen’s Guard spoke, her speech pattern surprisingly elaborate, showing that she definitely possessed a high level of intelligence despite just being born.

“I accept your oath and look forward to seeing what you shall all become,” Vesperia said with a smile. “I will not dictate any of your Paths but allow you time to discover your own talents and develop into the beings you want to be. Follow me, and I shall also swear that the only one you’ll ever need to kneel before is this queen.”

“Yes, your Majesty,” all seven said in unison, making Odonestra nod in approval. They all seemed like good seeds, and considering Vesperia’s own personal combat prowess... she wasn’t sure who or what being her own level stood a chance should it come to blows.

Vesperia nodded one final time before saying a few words to her Queen’s Guards, after which she brought them into her Inner Hive – the small dimension she stored within herself, containing an entire army.

“I thank you and the other elders for your assistance this time,” Vesperia said to Odonestra. “And I hope you will not protest when I say that I wish to act selfishly once more.”

Odonestra just chuckled and shook her head. “No need to say anything; we all expected and even counted on it. Based on current evaluations, the Records revolving around this Seat of the Exalted Prima event mean it’s something we cannot afford to ignore, and we would be remiss if we did not participate. Though I do hope that rather than merely return to the same galaxy...”

“Don’t worry,” Vesperia calmed the other True Royal. “I shall go there initially, but when the true event begins, I doubt they’ll need my assistance. Instead, I’m sure there are plenty of other galaxies that would appreciate my presence and allow my Queen’s Guard to exercise and discover themselves a little.”

“Glad to hear we are in agreement,” Odonestra nodded in approval. “With you leading the charge, the Endless Empire hopes to reap quite the benefits from this event, though I will warn you... We are far from the only faction with these thoughts, and competition will be steep. Also, while I do have confidence in your abilities, there are some characters you should do all you can to avoid coming into conflict with.”

Vesperia allowed Odonestra to continue as she summoned a small list. Odonestra handed Vesperia the list as she started reading it, as the other True Royal spoke.

“Besides the obvious, there are a few people to avoid above all others. Many of the names you should already recognize from the Nevermore Leaderboards, but allow me to reiterate. Lopas, the Beast of Sloth, Wintermaul, an elemental we have limited information on, and the Chosen of Lucenti, who has already proven their Nevermore performance was no fluke. The Holy Church also has some powerful figures this time around, including someone who is slated to, and may already have become, the Chosen of the Holy Son. However, more than anything, there is one character you must avoid at all costs: the Eastbound Monk.”

Matthew

Do we know who the eastbound monk is, or is he new?

Gavin

The who?! Eastbound monk?! I don't remember that mf.

Beemoss

Eron i think

Gavin

I thought he had a different title. Its been some time since we've heard from him tho

glutton 12

Yay a vesperia chapter!!!

Steven Myer

"The Eastbound Monk, a mysterious figure who’d proven themselves incredibly powerful in the Prima Guardian event." That's all we got so far from chapter 1263 for those who asked. There could be references further back in already printed books that had the chapters removed from here, but its too early to dig that deep.

Rippchord

I can't wait to see this Chosen of Lucenti and have him freak out over Lillian

Fdrugc

It's nice to hear about Vespy. Is it possible to get another guard later on in life and or redo the process?

Dell

Oooooo getting ready for the Prima Guardian is exciting

djthomp

Shame Vespy didn't go for eight and prove to all these bugs that she's the best. I'm really looking forward to learning more about all these standouts we first heard about in Nevermore but haven't really gotten any details about.

Alex R

I was expecting Vesperia to go "Twinsies. I got eight."

ByLordMatsLuck

Damn so we are getting a Jake vs Eastbound Monk or Vesperia vs Eastbound Monk

frankie doerr

Making us go back to book 12 to reread is wicked work

BumAssBumAss

No, the eastbound monk was an individual casually mentioned to free their own galaxy of the prima guardians by themselves.

Xander

TFTC :) I might be wrong but werent there 100 true royals and each one was only replaced when they died whether from combat or old age meaning there were never more than 100 at a time, right? So how can "one in ten thousand true royals" be a metric for saying how extraordinary an event is? There havent been 10000 true royals to check against have there? I freely admit I might just be wrong. Suggested edits: "*Finally*, the ritual reached its *final* stage" repetitive phrasing. Either change the first to "Eventually" or the second to "closing" " looked somewhat *familiar* to Vesperia herself." should be "similar" "as she acknowledged her firstborn *True Royal* " should be "Queens Guard", right? "something disturbed ** about midway" missing word "you"

Fyrtue

I would like to see the perspective of these queen's guards the first time they meet Jake. Also is chosen of Lucenti a typo or is this just how they're being introduced. I don't remember that character from the leader boards and it feels like a pretty deliberate drop after Lilian brought up that she might be blessed by them in B grade.

Alexandre8901

Nice! 1 step closer to the Seat of the exalted prima event!

JJB4345_80_815

Yes, thank you for the chappy Zogarth!

Baged

Before a trueroyal dies, she lays an egg that can give birth to the next trueroyal, who will then attempt to attain godhood. The Endless Empire has existed since the second or third age, and each age lasts hundreds of thousands or millions of years—or more—so there have almost certainly been many trueroyals throughout history.

Yahyo Malikov

Eron is the eastbound monk i think. I remember reading that he is a candidate for chosen of a dao lord

Misa

Tftc

Fyrtue

He was a standout from the prima guardian event and also did well in Nevermore if memory serves. In the prima guardian event he led his galaxy to be the second to complete it after the Milky Way by single-handedly eliminating all of them.

john

True royals have been said to create true royals. They can leave behind successors. The reason they died was because they failed to leave behind said successor, causing the lineage to die. When Vesperia left to the 93rd for the prima event, they feared this same thing would happen. So in reality there could've been millions of true royals, but there have only been 100 lineages.

hocusfire

The world building is amazing

Artemis1700

Honestly, I get the feeling that the Chosen of Lucenti is Lillian. At least, that is what my gut is saying. Could totally be wrong though

Shandlar

Wait, do i smell an actual upcoming antagonist? In my Primal Hunter? Unheard of

Rippchord

I mean 4 chapters ago, she was asking Jake what she should do IF the opportunity to get a blessing from him arises, so I doubt it.

Michael Fannon

Looks like a certain ice elemental is about to be made into shaved ice.

Jan

I have the feeling that her Seven guards will make up for the missing eighth by just being insanely overpowered in comparison to other queen’s guards.

Cameron

The true royals have been around since the 2nd era and since achieving godhood is so difficult, especially earlier on, I can see there being 10000 true royals as a lot of those would fail to reach godhood. It's even mentioned in this chapter that all true royals are still limited by their talent. Also the war they're in would help push the numbers up so there may be been more than 10000 true royals.

Prospects

I am willing to bet that the Eastbound Monk is going to be Ellhalkan part 2, though a lot less morally black and white from Jake’s perspective.

Jordan Rogers

Never mentioned unless it’s Erin (or however his name is spelled), he could have gotten that as a title or something, but if that’s so I’d assume not a legitimate threat due to his liking to not die.

Jordan Rogers

Be cool if she did decide to do an eighth with Jake’s help

Prospects

He was in the top 10 in the nevermore leaderboards and he single-handedly slayed every single Prima Guardian in his galaxy

Jordan Rogers

It would be a massively OP queens guard.

Baged

Hmm... Are we nerds at this point?

Vettu

I don't think she can get more after the fact. Seems like this is a one-time thing of making her lifelong guards

Kyler

Technically that's Jake's grandkids. Jake's a grandfather boys.

Cory S.

The buildup to the prima event is getting good.

Matthew

It’s not Eron.

definitelynotbrjenness

eastie has been portrayed as a decent guy so far, but it could all be false humility. would be funny if he chooses to ignore his God's guidance to defeat jake and joins jake in the heretic chosen path.

Phillip Masusock

Same. I was right though when I guessed what the hiccup during the ritual was.

Dallin S

If it would be possible to make another it would be with origin energy and some bloodline shenanigans

TimeBandit42

Eron is the chosen of the Lifesoul Daolord. He was talked about as such multiple times during the Nevermore arc.

definitelynotbrjenness

I thought the disruption was her getting the boost from jake distracting her.

definitelynotbrjenness

I didn't hate the guy. wouldn't hate him becoming a pro-jake person.

Josie

Went back to the last Nevermore book to get this: Nevermore Leaderboards (C-grade): 93rd Universe. 1. Cheeto – Dead Tier 2. Wintermaul – Pinnacle Tier 3. Lopas – Pinnacle Tier 4. Holy Dawn Paladin – Pinnacle Tier 5. Arnold – Pinnacle Tier 6. Eastbound Monk – Pinnacle Tier 7. Disciple of Lucenti – Pinnacle Tier 8. Sword Saint – Pinnacle Tier 9. Immortal Faith – Pinnacle Tier 10. High Templar – Pinnacle Tier

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter!

Phil Ritter

Much appreciated. Honestly didn’t notice the disciple of lucenti back then

Patryk

There's a chance he's a very powerful soul mage, and can partially ignore the guards. Maybe he's like the forest king on steroids, that would be quite interesting

Phil Ritter

I really want to know which faction the monk is from. I kinda expected him to be from the Dao sect but those guys seem reasonable enough to not need a warning. They can’t be from the holy church since we know they only had 9th and 10th place in their camp. I don’t remember any overly religious factions or where a monk would fit but maybe they were recruited by Rigoria at some point?

MrCynical

@Rippchord to be fair, a not insignificant amount of time has passed during those four chapters. And we already know Lillian did surprisingly well in nevermore without any guidance from any Lucenti gods.

Kirin

They were number 7 on the leaderboards I’m not confident but they were there.

DeAndrea H

The first time they’re all together and he pets “Vespy” on the head rather than bowing or anything. 😊

Vex

Dead tier XD Brilliant

DeAndrea H

I love when that happens. I’m still waiting on the hooded figure that hired William in book 13 who was capable of avoid leaving karmic bonds and left behind dead puppet bodies (much like the group that ambushed Jake and co in the void) to be tied back in.

Matt

It's been a long time since the Eastbound Monk has been mentioned, is the Monk going to Jakes next rival? Or is it the other dragon lady?

DeAndrea H

Or if he hurts Vespy somehow it might be Jake and Vespy vs the Eastbound Monk

DeAndrea H

Oh man. I would love that. It reminds me of all the Pantheons telling their peeps to avoid the Chosen of the Malefic Viper only for the entourages of the high ranking members of the 93rd Universe to realize that those high tankers were already friends with Jake pre-integration or shortly afterwards

UNKNOWN

The Sylphy incident though....

modersoccer

Tftc Just a question where are jakes familiy right now And love that we hear form the true royal form time to time

UNKNOWN

We have long been nerds for getting this far into Primal Hunter.

Jason Smith

I remember the name, when was he mentioned again?

definitelynotbrjenness

prima event he cleared his whole galaxy asking nothing in return. also did well at nevermore.

Mrburns93

Don't forget the dao sect had that guy from the challenge dungeon. He was incredibly reasonable and yet he still absolutely waxed Jake like an old rusty car

definitelynotbrjenness

i'm hoping he has a mullet and mustache and throws things really hard.

tigerfishie

Ohhhh I’m DESPERATE to know more about the Holy Son, and especially Lucenti now that they (she?) has been mentioned twice recently. Tyftc, I’m very excited for the event.

Zogarth

There were 100 different Lineages, with each capable of having as many True Royals as they can muster, but only of their own Lineage, of course. Meaning that if the last True Royal of a certain Lineage dies, getting a new one is borderline impossible.

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

Michael Fannon

So the eastbound monk is related to the undead gods and such, correct? Or at least one of those mentioned is, though I doubt it's Lillian.

Suzanne Pearson

Makes me wonder….. if Rigatoria was behind Jake’s kidnapping attempt and ultimately Jake goes to war against Rigatoria, wouldn’t it help the war effort by leaps and bounds to ‘reawaken’ all of the extinct lineages? Obviously Vespy is a superior being among the true royals and that would make quite the splash! 😁

Michael Fannon

He's with the new group that Villy is hunting.

Jayce Sul

Rigoria. Who is Rigatoria lol

Connor

Thanks for the chapter

phil

to be fair he should be about the same age as Sylphy since she was born just after the system trail and elementals didn't exist without the system, so his stupidity and naivete should be forgiven, plus he only asked not like he demanded she marry him or anything dude just had no game

phil

either the east bound monk or those people that ambushed jake, can see why the ambushers would help since they wanted his bloodline, but i could also see the monk helping since they are usually all about peace and stuff while elhakans bloodline messed with that sort or beliefs immensely

phil

Yay a Vespi chapter, bet sandy will love being an uncle, TFTC

Wen L.

Vesperia is the best daddy's girl, but Jake will be a big boon for her in the event if he joins the Endless Empire in the event. I feel like the Holy Son is a derivative of someone we have already met, Ell'Hakan remnant were recovered by the Holy Church, except his core, which Jake has. Without his true power from the bloodline but part of Yip of Yore's records, Jake might have a handful to deal with.

Gregory Schmitt

Big foreshadowing vibes, but I love a good Vespy chapter, she's so cute in a royal ectognamorph kinda way

Anomander_Rake

Thanks for the clarification. Loving the story too. This chapter with Vespy was awesome!

Anomander_Rake

See, that’s where I was too. Thought she was just going to completely show off and create the 8th egg on the spot. Although the fact that it was mentioned that she technically could create another one at a later date has me thinking about Jake with his lesser origin energy and Vespy teaming up on something unique.

Anomander_Rake

It was mentioned that they technically can but it’s difficult.

Ramadasa Butler

Could the "Chosen of the Holy Son" be Jacob?

Manpolar

The godvof the automatons

blucube 14

Thanks for the chapter!

Ramadasa Butler

Would love to see Sylphie and Wintermaul fight it out to the death, especially if he tries something against Sylphie i.e. trying to force their mating.

VolcanoBakemeat

Makes me think of Defiance of the Fall, where the MC's leaderboard name was "Monk" at first I thought it was just an easter egg.

ABTelford

Exciting getting some buildup toward the prima event. Thx for the chapter!

Baged

Zogarth listed DotF as a major inspiration back when he began writing.

Namorat

"Even with such supreme talent, breaking through to godhood was never a success, and their Path to ascension was fraught with danger and uncertainty." An assured success?

Kyle

I wish that one of the guards was born influenced by jake through records, either his mana coloring it or some even being born as male completely shocking the gathered queens and status quo

jb qspam

I have questions! Vesperia making eight- is the challenge Making the eight simultaneously, or Having them simultaneously? When she goes for eight (because it sounds like she will) do the others have to have dies first or can she just make #8? And assuming it’s (relatively) not difficult, I could see her going for #9.

Josie

Oh and this is the other list for the whole era (includes entire multiverse): Nevermore Leaderboards (C-grade): 93rd Era. 1. Cheeto – Who? 2. Demon Prince of the Fourth Hell – Pinnacle Tier 3. Wintermaul – Pinnacle Tier 4. Aishalstromoz Regalflight – Pinnacle Tier 5. Ghost King Azal – Pinnacle Tier 6. Disciple of the Heartsoul Daolord – Pinnacle Tier 7. Lopas – Pinnacle Tier 8. Grimclaw Noxmane – Pinnacle Tier 9. Holy Dawn Paladin – Pinnacle Tier 10. Saintess of the Holy Church – Pinnacle Tier

Josie

Ahh yes, the Italian mobster Primordial. Rigatoria 🤌

Biggy smalls

Nah, he’s blessed by the holy mother and a non-combatant. They wouldn’t warn her to never come in conflict with Jacob.

Hornbach

I don't think so he is blessed by the holy mother.

Sushi

Thanks, although Jake definitely came in first. Minaga played some shenanigans with the leaderboard to mess with people

AWKW1ZARD

Rigatoria sounds like the goddess of pasta or some shit.

Sushi

I’m thinking it might be more of a true rivalry with different ideologies and a similar level of strength rather than pure enemy. Frenemies as one might say. Jake doesn’t really have someone like that yet.

UNKNOWN

I disagree with them being born as a male cause they have to serve as body doubles as well.

Yami

I think it is a one time thing

definitelynotbrjenness

I give wintermaul a chance to not be a bad guy based on how he handled sylphies rejection.

Yami

They most likely are of higher quality and have a better instinct that tells them if vespy is in danger

UNKNOWN

Imagine they're named Hati, the wolf who chases the moon.

Phil Ritter

True but that’s more because of Jake’s personality. Jake isn’t one for talking but the Dao sect is. They are undoubtedly strong too but they won’t kill Vesperia unless forced to and I highly doubt the Prima Event is gonna be a death match. Maybe I just misinterpreted tho and she was just giving out the name of strong competitors instead of actual dangers willing to kill her

Dylan

That would have been a cool moment. Some sort of primeval influenced Queen's guard, whatever that would mean. We may find they have resistance to auras like Vesperia and the other primeval entities.

AWKW1ZARD

I don't know who would be dumb enough to go after Vesperia, given who's shit-list that would put them on.

definitelynotbrjenness

that would mean the monks are bad guy tricksters if inspired by dotf.

Phil Ritter

Possible but I think it’s a little soon to jump to conclusions. I would also imagine it irregular enough to mention if the guy was part of an unknown or no faction after ranking so high in Nevermore

UNKNOWN

Minaga would never do such a thing! Such spurious accusations based on little evidence. Isn't that right Minaga?

definitelynotbrjenness

who are you? didn't there used to be a side character named slyphie or something like that?

Lemonsqueezy

I think she can only do it once, or that they all have to be created at the same time for the bond. I am not really sure. It does read like it can only be done once, maybe if they all die she can do it again IDK.

Lemonsqueezy

Enjoyed the chapter, but it was a little wordy in the first half.

Lemonsqueezy

They still might be considering they come from Vespa. Maybe to a very little degree though. I guess we will have to see as they start to become individuals. They are only a few minutes old in this chapter after all.

Lemonsqueezy

Oooh that is cold lol, but kind of true. A lot of the old characters are starting to become seldom mentioned background characters as the story progresses.

Dustin Baya

I'm hyped for the eastbound monk I hope the dao sect will get more screentime now

Lemonsqueezy

I think it is Jacob considering that he is the Augur and already has a Divine Blessing of the Holy Mother. Maybe he hasn't become her chosen because she might already have one, it has never been mentioned.

David Storey

I could definitely see Jake protecting Vesperia from the monk. I am super excited about the adventures we will have in B - Grade! Also, could author re-iterate whether a true royal can add more guards in the future? TYFTC.

islandcastle11

Vesperia is my favorite of Jake’s creations!! Love endless empire thanks for the chapter

Borbino the great

I’d assume so my guess is every grade they might be able to add more?

Lemonsqueezy

Last thing that was mentioned of them is that they are travelling around the multiverse. I think it was just a way for Zog to not have to write a chapter about him visiting them, seeing that I don't think much of significance could be told. As the story progresses I am expecting them to be mentioned less and less and eventually not at all. His brother and maybe his nephew will probably come into play again (probably during the SoTEP event), but his parents and sister-in-law will probably only be mentioned in passing or in a short paragraph about Jake seeing them again. His parents and sister-in-law have little to no interest in becoming more powerful, so I expect them to eventually die, but at C-Grade that is a 10k year lifespan. Last thing I remember is they were still in D-Grade and that is like a 1k year lifespan. Still long, but I believe it has been around 25 years in real time since the story began. Jake is around 150+ years old because of all the time dilation, make him significantly older than his parents at this point. A lot of characters in the early parts of the story are becoming less and less relevant. I would start to expect that they will rarely be mentioned anymore if at all. Even Sylphie isn't mentioned that much anymore. We only got a few paragraphs about her and Sandy a couple chapters ago. We haven't heard about the Demon Prince in a really long time, still waiting for the chapter about that wedding. I think it mostly do to the rapid progress of Jake. Those that are not at his level become no longer important enough to mention. Jake is at the level where he is dealing with very powerful people and is in very powerful circles. Jake being a chosen makes him pretty much the default second in command for The Order. He is even above Duskleaf, Snappy, and the Ladies of the Verdant Lagoon. Although Jake would never act like he controls them because he isn't the Leadership type. Anyway, I got really off topic there. ADHD is a real SOB.

Peter Smith

Honest question... How terrifying would it be if Vespy ended up hooking up with our immortal monk... A truely endless hive where so long as Vesperia survives her children will all come back to life naturally...

Lemonsqueezy

Man DoTF. I gave up on that story in the beginning of book 13. It just got way to wordy. I enjoy chapters about describing the world, but he would spend several chapters doing so. He would also spend a lot of time when he talked about stats (and reading them out) and skill upgrade descriptions. The forced war thing just got incredibly boring to me. I think it was because I was listening to the audiobooks that made it so bad for me. Listening to someone read out a stat page was painful to me having ADHD.

Carl Never

Didnt expect a vesperia chapter but ill love it. Im thinking we get reika over to help jake test out his new alchemical ingredients. See how many times she can loose her eye brows

Carl Never

Id say they cant id like to see her try for 8 but i think its an all or none situation. Might have to kill them all to retry. Odenasta had 6 and shes pretty tough

Lemonsqueezy

I think the dragon lady was hinted as being the main rival, but when it comes to the SoTEP event everyone is a rival. However, I am sure several of them will ally with Jake. Jake is the defacto leader of Earth and the entire Milky Way galaxy and several chosen of primordials are from or living on Earth. Others are wanting to be on the good side of Jake. Not only because of his connection with Villy (who seems to be one of the more powerful Primordials), but his bloodline and Primal Origin powers. Valdemar for instance is very interested in Jake because he is a very powerful Human. Jacob and the Holy Order might side with Jake as a means to get back in favor with Jake and get a foot in the door in the Milky Way again, or at least not be immediately chased away. I think the event will be the people from Earth (with Jake as the leader) vs everyone else. With how powerful Jake is compared to the rest of the 93rd, it would have to be someone very powerful to go against him. Which a True Dragon would definitely fit the role of. I am sure Zog will have some random foe introduced in the event, probably some one allied to the Dragon. This person will either be a mini-boss, or someone Jake quickly teaches a lesson to about how powerful Jake truly is. Happened in that event where they were looking for treasure and Jake got stuck in that water dungeon. He taught a lesson to some person and a lot of people quickly fucked-off from the event. His battle with the Sword Saint, and the big boss before him, at the end really cemented to others how powerful Jake was. Compared to now, Jake exponentially more powerful. Even compared to his first battle with a True Dragon, Jake is on a whole other level. Albeit he isn't as proficient with his new skills.

Kyle

That would be part of the shock because of how divergent it would be, but it would also be against the ‘primal’ part , so maybe one being more reminiscent of the first vespenant queen

Fyrtue

Bestest bird is offended.

Fyrtue

I think these with true sapience are locked in.

Borbino the great

Is the immortal monk the same dude Jake hangs out with sometimes that’s impossible to kill I’m confused

Borbino the great

Either way getting 7 is still huge puts her on par potential wise with some of the peak beings around

Perren D'Wolff

Well, the automatons for one. I mean they already attacked her once when the True royals were bringing her home for the first time.

Perren D'Wolff

I wouldn't be surprised if one or more of them actually had Jakes arcane affinity.

zran

eastbound monk is not eron, eron is mentioned as "the chosen of the daolord", just as many call jake as "the chosen of the malefic viper", also eastbound monk was mentioned to be of a diferent galaxy, as well being the one who did the heavyweight of clearing his galaxy prima event

Kyle

That would be really cool but I think those are intrinsic to the person

SqrlyGrly

Lillian might get a blessing from the god of Jake's next rival. Does she become the next official heretic in his circle?

zran

agreed, it should be nice if we get to know that faction better

zran

if they die she can bring them back to life, is akin to jackob and brendant where the guy can die as many times as he whants, he wont gonna suffer a true death unless jacob dies, and should be the same for vespy royal guard

SqrlyGrly

I think that will be balanced out by system events where Jake is forced to work with the people at his level and gods can't interfere. Outside system events, I do expect gods and s ranks to become more common.

zran

sadly there is a limit to how much attention zog can give to side characters.... especially if he keeps draging the plot at times

SqrlyGrly

I don't think the dragon lady will be a rival. I think her and her father want Jake to help her build resistance so that she can spend more time with her dad.

definitelynotbrjenness

two options when they meet jake. recognize him as grandpa or freak out because they know he's dangerous. i'm hoping at least one scoffs at the power of a mere male and gets to spar with him.

definitelynotbrjenness

endless empire should have plenty of votes/points to support jake with. still hope golden groot upgraded to emperor and has a bunch of planets under him.

definitelynotbrjenness

one of the funniest scenes in the whole series will be in book 93 when jake goes to hunt down Rigatoria and he realizes she was originally a microwave and fights by throwing meatballs.

Fyrtue

He responded the right way to being told no. Scary people flexing their aura may have helped but even then, having bad flirting game shouldn't be a death sentence.

Ed

If Jake was there im sure 8 would be doable maybe even more

Endern

I'm hoping one of them becomes a long range sniper. We know Vesperia has a stinger gun. She will joyfully introduce the Guard to Jake but he will play the Bow Supermacist card.

Phil Ritter

I don’t doubt there would be also those overzealous Monks in the Dao sect but unlike there it isn’t one of their core features I don’t think

Phil Ritter

With all the talk about those different competitors am I the only one who is really excited for Lopaz in case he finds the motivation to attend. I wonder what kind of path he has considering his nature and high ranking. I’d say he is a digester like Sandy but if that were the case he wouldn’t have ranked nearly as high

Rewdan

Who is this East Bound Monk, any ideas?

Rewdan

It was so good to get caught up with Vesspy

Rewdan

Cool thanks, could he become the next villain?

Rewdan

Like who was that guy?

Josie

Maybe the last paragraph could use some semicolons with the list

definitelynotbrjenness

if valhal accepts a contract to go against jake in the event, will he forgive them? won't that be a third strike?

Lemonsqueezy

He really wasn't mentioned much. He was in the top 10 in Nevermore. The wiki says that he killed all the Prima's in his galaxy. Really he is just another powerful person from the 93rd.

phil

to be fair no one knows much about them that's why they are surrounded in mystery

Seen Death

I dont see it like that For most, assassination attempts are a definite sign of aggression, but thats just another growth opportunity to the truely strong (like jake) For example, The Court of Shadows got a contract to send someone against jake, and the only consideration he got was permission to go through with it from the Viper. Even the Viper technially agreed to sending an assassin after jake. For Valhal, theyre contracting mercinaries. Nothing personal- theyre just looking for fights Even on battlefields where their own faction has opponents hired from their same faction So these guys dont really get grudges saved against them Atleast thats my understanding from what i think Jake feels There are plenty of people who have a more personal reason to kill Jake, i think one of those dragons was forshadowed? The people making the contracts are the real enemies

JW Saxby

I can’t wait to see a Grandpappy Jake scene 😍😇 Tftc 🍻

Snipez5546

Chosen of the lifesoul daolord specifically

Jacqie Casper

Liked this chapter, but there's definitely a mistake or misnomer. The true royals are the original 100 queens of the endless empire, of which only 61 remained during the 93d era. And in prior chapters it was said that of the true royal lines who died/were killed none were reborn till Vesperia. So I don't understand the talk about thousand and tens of thousands of "true royals" that were trained from birth. Shouldn't those be high level hive queens instead? It was also mentioned in prior chapters, that all 100 true royal hive queens are the equals in the hierarchy of the endless empire

mapts

I think the eras last way longer than millions of years (or hundreds of thousands for that matter), I was under the assumption that eras lasted billions of years each? Like aren’t the primordials over a trillion years old?

John Durrett

Only one being in all the multiverse can claim nesting on Jakes head. No matter how far and wide she travels, she will always have a home waiting for her. :)

John Durrett

tyftc. If Vespy had birthed 8 guards , she could have started her own sitcom "8 is enough". :P

Aurora1325

no there are more then 61 true royal as it was stated that true royals can elevate truly talented hive queens to that status there are only 61 lingeges that have true royals that made it to god hood before all of them where killed

Brock

Is the Eastbound Monk going to be the Sword Saint’s fated foe?

NicN

Tftc

Toff E

I like this idea personally

Biggy smalls

Wow, what a great idea. Either that or they’ll be bros. Just two old dudes drinking tea together making fun of Jake. Maybe they start out as foes but become bros?

Daniel

Hi Jacqie, I am sorry for your confusion. You are correct there are a 100 lineages. Not every queen becomes a god though. There could be 100s-10,000s of true royals until one of them in the lineage reaches god hood. True royals lay eggs which produces a clone if they are approaching the end of their life but have not reached god hood. 2 were also reborn via system events before vesperia.

Lambda

Vesperia is genuinely one of my favorite characters! And the ectonomorphs have some incredible world building!

Carl Never

Exceptional laziness

ChRiAn

Just like Vespy isn't the first Verspernat true royal

Abelian

Who is the Chosen of the Lucenti?? Are we gonna see Lillian pitted against Jake and co?

Prospects

It’s most likely referring to the true royals that failed to achieve godhood, as when they create an egg to right before they would die these would technically be counted as new true royals. Due to the fact that they are new individuals, even though they remain extremely similar to their predecessor.

Blutako writes whatever ie Tako in the Outerworlds

But in all non stupid spongebob reference seriousness, I would absolutely love to see a Heretic-Chosen monk, and how about instead of second Ellhakaan we get a Jake the second, a like minded hunter, be interesting if on top of his fists he weirds Katar like blades to match his ears, especially after some of Jake's highlights made their rounds not only from nevermore but the whole yip of Yore and the event and how many times he was recorded or watched during the stuff against ellhakaan's faction then dealing with the holy church and dealing with Valdemar, or maybe I had them like long before, as an extra way to embody oneself so that he could embody his soul, on top of wielding is staff, better yet he forms Katars or katar like blades with his soul,

Rahsheem Reid

I would love for one of the guards to train under Jake bc that is their grandpappy

Taylor Harris

I wonder if we get more on the relationship with their style of meditation and the first sage through this.

Fyrtue

Somewhere in the comments Zogarth chimed in to offer some clarification on this. I think it's pretty early on.

definitelynotbrjenness

summoner could be funny and explain his combat capability despite his nature.

definitelynotbrjenness

I was thinking a wolf, but I've also convinced myself jake mentioned a stag similar to the one from the tutorial. also wondered if the stag from the tutorial was an image of lucenti.

definitelynotbrjenness

oh, I mentioned wanting ss to find an enemy a while back and did not even think of that. i'm all for it. good call.

Lucas Fialho

I think its the one that ranked in top 10 in nervermore. I think this is the only information we have aboutr him/her

M C

**REE**

M C

Or “guarantee”.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

Agreed. Wintermaul would be utterly destroyed if he even looked at Sylphie the wrong way. He gracefully dipped tf out after shooting his shot.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

FAT CHANCE! im out of tasty snacks.....ok im not but i aint sharing...

DefinitelyNotMinaga

i can neither confirm nor deny such baseless accusations. But HEY three of the top performers name dropped is sure to mean something riight? Hopefully a Dao sect arc next?

SqrlyGrly

Jake? Teach? Voluntarily?

DefinitelyNotMinaga

Cant wait for the audiobook version of Jakes lesson at the order ;;D

Rahsheem Reid

He got a lot of records when passing down his teaching before. So why wouldn’t he take a few apprentices to see how it would turn out. It was also implied that the Royal guard are diverse in there paths, it would behoove at least one RG to train with Jake even if they are only getting pointers from the current apex B Grade.

Brian Block

The shortest era was seven billion and change , and the longest was a bit over two fifty. It's discussed in book 1,2 or 3. We were also told the approximate length of a ninety second era. If I recall the math, I did all the way back then, The time since the system arrived , it's somewhere between high eight hundred billion and just under twenty one trillion years. It's heavily implied that most eras are much longer than that shortest one, so I believe it's somewhere between five and twenty trillion years.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

it would def be a bigass boon to the baby Vespys for sure. He could just make them run 5 miles on mondays and Ruck 12 miles.

Rahsheem Reid

Yeah just being in his presence is going to be a boon to them so imagine if one actually came to him and asked him for some tutelage. I highly doubt Jake would just say fuck off.

Drexnaw

Jake loves his kids hes not gonna telll his grandkids no

Matthew Smith

What would happen if Jake Jake juiced the new true queens guards? Like their origin is Vesperia who is already abnormal and then if he infuses so important treasure for a queens guard I wonder just how unique their path could become.

Caezar

Vesperia talks in an earlier chapter about how she would not go to Nevermore because the Wyrmgod would learn secrets about the True Royals and sell them to Rigoria, yet in this chapter it says she insisted on going? Not sure if that was intentional. tyftc!

NovaZero

Whereas the westbound monk should be absolute friend.

NovaZero

Manage joins in.

Yahyo Malikov

Since the guards are from the true royal wouldnt it mean that the true royal is the origin. I dont think itd work because I dont think there is any same two true royals.

GloinJr

By symbolism westbound monk would be obsessed with death while eastbound would be obsessed with progress

Cody

Please have her send one to train under Sandy. They would be so wise lol

Brentley Meersman

Its the same name as the great white stag from the tutorial. Moon magic type of deal and the class change book he got from that fight he gave to the one woman on earth her name is escaping me right now

KyoDaDungeon!!

Exactly what I meant just couldn't remember either

Corey S

One should be an archer and the other an alchemist

Corey S

Also, I wish she tried for 8 too lol

PapaJaypes

Lillian. Miranda's right hand woman.

Parker Bond

Lilian? The aide to Miranda?

Parker Bond

We already knew that she went to Nevermore. I think Vesperia had to talk the other true royals into letting her go

AWKW1ZARD

But is there an Automata presence stong enough to be a threat within the Event?

Chloe

Tyftc

Chloe

Agreed.

B4rd514

Lucenti is a goddess from the united tribes, and her specific affinity is related to that stag Jake killed during the tutorial, as well as the Tome he got and later gave to Lilian, miranda's "secretary", that is now a Lucenti mage

Natertot

Seems like she used it primarily for the time dilation and didnt really reveal anything
