While Jake had fun hunting down even more nasty undead spiders with his frog pals, the time for the Administrator Test had finally arrived. A hundred days of testing lay ahead for all who entered, whether as Administrator Candidates or as assistants to the Candidates.

Miranda sat in Haven alongside the four people she’d chosen to enter with. Holstred, William, Lillian, and the Wyvern were all present, with Lillian and the Wyvern still yet to evolve to B-grade. Something that hopefully wouldn’t be an issue, as Miranda still hoped and believed that this Administrator Test wouldn’t be all about combat.

“Does everyone have everything ready?” Miranda asked. “Potions, other consumables, upgraded equipment, and anything else that might come in handy.”

“Everything should be prepared, Ma’am,” Holstred confirmed, being as polite as ever.

Miranda nodded, naturally feeling a little nervous about this upcoming test. She had never been good at tests and always got overly nervous when she had to take one, even in cases where she couldn’t be more prepared. It was an irrational nervousness she also felt this time, despite all the intelligence she'd gained and everyone she'd consulted agreeing that the upcoming event would be no problem.

So far, post-system, this had never been an issue. She never had to actually pass any tests. Sure, she participated in events and had tests and whatnot by her Patrons, but a test set forth by the system felt different, especially knowing she only had one shot. The system wasn’t one for multiple tries in events like this, which really put on the pressure.

Usually, Jake was the one to bear this pressure. He was the only person who had to actually succeed in whatever trial the system put forth, and Miranda just had to be in the background, ready to assist in dealing with whatever prizes he gained or consequences that emerged from his victory or potential loss. It wasn’t her responsibility to “pass” any tests.

I’m sure it’ll be fine, and even if I mess up, it’s not like my promotion to Administrator is necessarily needed, she tried to assure herself as her entire party sat there quietly, also making Miranda realize that the people she had chosen weren’t exactly the most sociable sort.

Lillian tended to prefer being the silent background person; Holstred spoke only when spoken to in the presence of people he recognized as superiors, and William and the Wyvern were both, well, themselves. The wyvern had been stuck on a mountain its entire life until recently, and didn’t exactly look comfortable in a party full of humans, and William had really shifted his personality to prefer just sitting back and observing whenever possible.

As Miranda was stuck in her own thoughts, it finally came.

Transmission to the Milky Way Seat of the Exalted Prima shall commence in fifteen (15) minutes. Ensure all potential allies are selected and in your physical proximity beforehand.

Once entered, the Administrator Test cannot be exited unless successfully completed or forfeited. Further rules will be outlined upon entrance and when the test commences.

Countdown till transmission: 14:59

It was a short and simple message that made Miranda nod. “I just got a system message about entering.”

“Me too,” Lillian said. “One saying I’m invited to be your assistant, and if I want to accept.”

The other three in the room expressed they saw the same, once more surprising Miranda with the system’s ability to recognize intent. It likely worked in the same way that it could just tell who one's party members were when trying to enter dungeons or when using certain skills. Jake called it system-fuckery, Miranda believed, though she was certain there was a proper term out there.

“Fifteen minutes more, then,” Miranda smiled. “Allow me to say this preemptively: if the event allows you all to also become Administrators through this test, you should go for it if you want to. Assuming it doesn’t impede or hinder my own promotion, that is.”

“I would prefer not to,” William spoke up in a quiet voice. Not surprising, as if he did become an Administrator and ended up having to play a role in controlling the World Wonder, William definitely wouldn’t enjoy it, seeing as he preferred to be a background character and all.

“I will go for it, but I’m not sure what it will mean if I do become one. I’m not exactly loyal to the Order of the Malefic Viper,” the Wyvern said with a shrug. Again, not surprising, with him being blessed by a member of the Dragonflights and all.

As for Holstred and Lillian, they both simply nodded in agreement, both definitely only wanting to serve as backups for Miranda, who was already only taking part in this to serve as a potential backup to Jake.

The remaining minutes until the system event passed were spent with a bit of casual chatter, forcibly engaged by Miranda every time. She wanted to potentially strategize or make up plans, but nobody knew what this Administrator Test would entail. There were a few basic things to cover based on potential expected scenarios, but it was seriously limited what could be prepared.

Finally, it was time as the timer reached zero, and the first part of this system event finally began. From the room in Haven, the five of them were teleported away, and the very next moment, they found themselves standing inside a familiar room.

It was the same place they’d been brought to during the first Seat of the Exalted Prima event, where they had seen simulated Paths they could have potentially had based on a different choice in the past. Being there honestly felt a bit nostalgic, but different from last time. There was no small Watcher or whatever it was called to greet them, and there was no pathway leading into another area.

Miranda looked around, surprised to see only the five of them there. She knew this was only the area for Administrator Candidates of Earth, but still, there should have been at least a couple who went there, right? So either no one else had gone, or this wasn’t a shared space.

A few seconds after appearing, as everyone had gotten their bearings and had some time to think, a new system message arrived.

Welcome to the Administrator Test for the Milky Way Seat of the Exalted Prima.

During this test, all Administrator Candidates will be tested and have the opportunity to prove themselves worthy of promotion to Administrator. Testing parameters and passing criteria are to be discovered by the Administrator Candidates themselves.

The Administrator Test will take place within a simulated reality. Death within this simulation has no negative effects, but will result in instant failure to promote. Any assistant that dies during this simulation will find themselves removed from the Milky Way Seat of the Exalted Prima.

In the event of the successful promotion of the Administrator Candidate, all surviving assistants to the new Administrator may also be promoted to full Administrators, provided they have proven themselves worthy of the title and have the Administrator's permission.

To enter the simulation, all participants must step into the highlighted area. Those not in the area upon simulation initiation will be removed from the Milky Way Seat of the Exalted Prima.

Simulation initiates in: 9:59

All five of them remained quiet for a few moments as they reviewed the system message. Miranda was both relieved and annoyed by the message. Relieved that this was a safe system event where death or harm weren’t even possible outcomes, but also annoyed that the system still didn’t tell her how to pass the damn Administrator Test. She already didn’t like tests where one could only pass or fail, but one where she didn’t even know the criteria for passing before starting? Yeah, she outright loathed that.

It didn’t help either that it seemed Miranda had to pass for any of her assistants to be eligible for promotion. It was good to know that assistants could also be promoted, though. Though it did mean that the prior competitions to become Administrators seemed a bit more pointless than before, if everyone could just become one now.

Miranda already assumed that the true Administrators competing with Jake in the next round would be pinnacle figures who hadn’t otherwise even been able to contend to become Administrator Candidates. Also, people would compete from galaxies they didn’t originate from, which Miranda wasn’t that against from a purely selfish point of view. It meant that Casper, the Forest King, the Sword Saint, Carmen, Vesperia, Sylphie, Caleb, Eron, Maria, and so many others from Earth were candidates to take control of different galaxies’ Seats of the Exalted Prima.

While that didn’t outright help the faction she belonged to, it raised Earth's prestige, and as the person effectively in charge of the planet, that growing prestige helped her profession.

All in all, there were many implications to this system message. As a kind of funny thought, she could totally imagine some factions failing to get their desired people promoted to Administrators because the Administrator Candidates in question, who had brought along assistants the factions actually wanted to be Administrators, weren’t the most competent.

Miranda was the one in their group they wanted to be an Administrator first and foremost, and she really hoped she wouldn’t be part of this statistic of failing promotions. Only one way to tell, though.

At the same time as the system message, a beam of light appeared in the center of the room, emitted by a large metal platform. They had ten minutes to get on it, though, so plenty of time.

“So, it appears that assistants can’t be promoted, so...”

She reiterated some of what she had said earlier and more or less kept the conversation going so that things would not get needlessly awkward. Miranda regretted not having spent more time practicing with the four of them to ensure proper teamwork, but alas, they only had ten days, and it had admittedly been Miranda who didn’t really have time to do much.

As the timer closed in on its end, all five of them went onto the shining platform, unsure what to expect on the other side.

“Remember, if we somehow end up split inside, use the orb I’ve provided, assuming we retain our current items. If we don’t, but we retain our abilities, William will connect us all through karmic magic. In the event we also lose our abilities, try to seek out the tallest structure, mountain, or whatever is in view. Honestly, though, probably attempt to progress on your own, and the system should allow us to team back up once more,” Miranda said, still trying to go over everything that could go wrong.

The wyvern looked a bit annoyed, though he tried to hide it, while the other three just nodded. For the second time that day, another countdown finished, and Miranda felt herself transported yet again, though this one certainly felt different. It was longer, and Miranda felt her consciousness fade, as if she were being induced into sleep.

Then, suddenly, she was awakened by the sound of a loud “ding!” as an all-too-familiar system message appeared before her eyes.

Welcome to the Tutorial

--

The eruption of destructive arcane energy sent the three Deathstalkers scurrying away as Jake narrowly avoided the beam from a Monitor down below. The Corpsemender nearby attempted to repair its undead compatriot, but three Venusian Warriors set upon it in an instant, smacking away with their clubs, stopping the healer of the Arachnec group from contributing.

Not too far away, the Virumancer was in combat with a new variant of Arachnec they had only come across recently upon getting further into undead spider land. It was a creature that floated in the air, with its belly replaced by what looked creepily like a face. Its eight legs were pointed toward the Virumancer as they shot out black blasts of energy that seemed to make the atmosphere itself decay as they passed.

Fortunately, the Virumancer was able to avoid every attack and counter, making the fight very much a stalemate where both would slowly take damage and be whittled down given enough time. Jake had only spared this new variant a single Identify, as he had his own foes to deal with.

[Arachnec Rotspreader – lvl 391]

Elsewhere, the Shaman was engaged in combat with more Deathstalkers, as he slowly went back towards Jake and the others, providing assistance wherever he could, using his large repertoire of supporting skills.

Jake quickly switched targets, moving to take out the Arachnec Monitor as quickly as possible, since it was the biggest threat to all of them. Its sudden, powerful eyebeams could do a lot of damage if they caught someone by surprise, so it was definitely the first one that had to go. Well, the second one, after the Corpsemender Jake had one-shot during his opening attack.

The Shaman came in clutch when he pushed back the Deathstalkers coming for Jake with a barrier of space magic, allowing the hunter to unleash an Arcane Powershot coupled with a Primal Gaze on the Monitor, allowing him to deal devastating damage.

Annoyingly, two Deathstalkers made their way through and set upon Jake, forcing him to switch to katars as he quickly tried to tear through them. Fortunately, one of the Venusian Warriors who had been on the Corpsemender before split off and descended upon the Monitor, smacking its semi-defenseless form hard with her club over and over, soon leading to the second kill of this fight.

Without having to deal with constant eyebeams, Jake quickly put down a Deathstalker before more arrived. There were nine of them in total, well, eight now, with them mostly getting bullied by Jake and the Shaman keeping them in check.

Alas, despite their pretty decent teamwork, there were simply too many Deathstalkers for them to constantly address them all. One of them slipped away and used its eerie movement skill to get behind the isolated warrior who’d just finished off the Monitor and managed to lacerate the frog in the back.

The Warrior quickly fought back, but three more Deathstalkers rapidly descended and tried to take advantage of the situation. Jake and the Shaman both successfully stopped one each, but the third one still made it through and landed another nasty attack.

A spiritual spear fell upon one of the attacking Deathstalkers, pinning it to the ground and allowing the Warrior to smack away the second Arachnec attacking it. With a moment’s reprieve, the Venusian cracked something she had hidden inside her mouth, looking like such an act was incredibly painful. Not because of actual pain, but because of the conceived value of the item just consumed.

The Warrior’s wounds rapidly started healing as the frog had just consumed a health potion given by Jake. As if wanting to prove that using such a valuable item was worth it, the Venusian jumped forward and landed a solid blow on a Deathstalker, before skillfully dodging the attack of the one who had just been pinned by a spear prior.

Jake, for his part, managed to kill another Deathstalker, with the Shaman also rapidly getting close to finishing one off. The Virumancer was also clearly winning that one-on-one duel, with the two remaining Warriors rapidly wearing down the Corpsemender.

While things did get dicey for a moment there, the tide rapidly turned fully in Jake and company’s favor, and with every death among the Arachnecs, the easier things got, and not long after, the final undead spider creature was slain.

By now, they had been in the territory of the Arachnecs for nearly a full month, killing many of the damn things during their stay. It had taken a month, but finally... Jake’s very first class level in B-grade.

’DING!’ Class: [Arcane Hunter of the Boundless Horizon] has reached level 351 - Stat points allocated, +125 Free Points

“Good fight,” Jake said, especially giving the still pretty heavily injured Venusian Warrior a nod. She had taken quite a few more hits during the cleanup, but stood strong till the end, and only allowed herself to relax now.

“Indeed,” the Shaman nodded as he put down a circle of glowing light that looked reminiscent of a lake’s surface. Jake sat down on it, enjoying the benefits it provided for his recovery. The other Venusians did the same, as they all sat in silence to recover for nearly a full hour.

At that point, Jake was feeling close to being in top form once more, but suddenly his eyes shot open. The Shaman also quickly stood up as he looked towards the horizon, following Jake’s gaze. He was holding an item in his hand that had clearly warned him, the frog’s eyes opening wide.

In the distance, Jake felt an aura approach, and before he could get a full read on it, the Shaman clapped his hands together and summoned the robed frog projection, applying a buff to all six of them that increased speed as he yelled:

“Run!”

Thank u for the story

"Jake killed it system-fuckery" should be "Jake called it system-fuckery"

Misa

Rick Delallata

What do you mean Miranda? System-fuckery is the proper term

I wonder if they have to redo the tutorial? Maybe their stats and level will be set to 0 like the colosseum of mortals I think it was called

Frosgods

I think they would be reset to beginning of tutorial status and get better overall results from it

Rahsheem Reid

A grade came to play. Do we know who is on Jake’s team?

Thanks for the chapter ♥️

Thanks for the chapter. It’s not Friday yet it feels like it with the double cliff today…

Lucas Fialho

The frogs i supose Event message said to administrator candidate be near to the assistents, so i assuming that when A grade is almost reaching then, jake will save all of then by teleporting to prima event

Eden

Ans these aint even dungeon monsters. Now tbf mc hasnt had time to reallt grind his skills. Build more records and shit

Lucas Fialho

Calling; Jake will save the frogs from the A grade by making then assistents, and teleporting all to prima event last minute

Ray Light

A month isn't 100 days mate...

David

Or something closer to peak B level

Clint

Jake should have at least two more months before it’s his turn at the event, probably longer. Plus he only gets four assistants and there are five venusians with him…

definitelynotbrjenness

Still a chance they might meet another alternate version of themselves. My preference is they get to redo and make different choices then choose which to become. How the he'll that tests them would make no sense. Surprisingly William should accept smiley's blessing again so he can learn karma magic and be guaranteed to gain emotions,

Daniel Byrkit

Tftc I recently reread the first book so this should be fun. William played a huge part in the tutorial, I mean it was almost his entire arc by the end of it. I wonder if William, Casper and Jake will get put in a room together. Also as I’m re-reading the first book, Jacob lost his lover in the tutorial, and now he’s suddenly having a snippet about his love interest… and now we’re circling back to that… seems like foreshadowing to me. I wonder how many people will be in this tutorial.

David Vieira

If they have to redo their individual tutorial William and Lilian one should be the most interesting. Since William had to deal with his own demons and Lilian with those 2 fucked up. Holstred and Wyvern are natives so maybe its not it

JW Saxby

😂 That’s actually a great theory that I’m gonna agree with 😁👍🏼

Clint

Certainly much slower than his profession levels, so far.

losky

If I'm not mistaken, the system event was supposed to occur 100 days after its arrival on Venus. But I could be wrong.

Michael

A grade fight coming up?

definitelynotbrjenness

Wyvern native. Holstred slave sent from ... maybe 93rd... I think it was cheaper to send local slaves...almost said holstred not, but realized I didn't know.

Vega

The Venusian’s heart breaking as she consumed the health potion is hilarious, culture clashes have so much potential for comedic moments. I’m honestly also so excited for the Seat of the Exalted Prima arc.

Corvid

A grade time, oh no!

David Vieira

I think you are correct, Holstred might be from the 93.

ABTelford

Now that’s a cliffhanger! 😵‍💫 Lol, loved the chapter!

Siethrobo

We have no idea if Jake get assistance and he's still got a hundred days. Probably more due to the possibility of time dilation. If Venus the minor world actually came into existence at the same time as the 93rd universe but already has A grades due to time dialation it would be at least a 30 to 1 ratio

BumAssBumAss

Did the wyvern not evolve to a true dragon upon hitting b-grade or is he not b-grade yet?

Lonez Zhavec

Hes also immediately gained a few levels already when he evolved so the next few levels would be slower.

djthomp

Oh no another tutorial. Hopefully a less unpleasant experience for the participants than Jake and William's original one, though it seems like it would be hard to be more unpleasant than that one. > “So, it appears that assistants can’t be promoted, so...” Should this be can instead of can't?

Patryk

It was mentioned (in this chapter too) that it's not B-grade yet

Lucas Fialho

Not a B grade yet. They say lilian and wyvern still C grades

definitelynotbrjenness

Not b grade. Can't rem if he needs levels or just quest. Small chance he will be strongest or second strongest dragon behind princess at event if he makes it to b grade. Interested to see if he supports Jake or dragon faction. Can't rem how tight the wings are with each other. Chance wyvern is stronger then Jake when he evolves. Watch out for surprise zoggery if he is. He could choose to support Jake because of lessons learned or take heel turn.

David Vieira

Can someone clarify? Jake Is a Administrator so his test is not now, only in 100 days. Miranda is a candidate, what they are doing now is trying to turn her into a Administrator aswell. Same as what the other allies are doing in other galaxies. After the test of 100 days. Jake and Miranda and other administrators will compeete for the seat of the Milky way. Is this correct?

Endern

That is my understanding as well. Test to become Administrator now, test to become Chief Administrator of a galaxy coming up after which will be the one Jake will participate in next.

definitelynotbrjenness

Yes, but smart money is on Jake being milky way's senior administrator. I don't think we know for sure if they compete for chief executive administrator or have a council. That might be a vote to decide how to administrate it.

definitelynotbrjenness

Kinda agree. I tend to ignore things that involuntarily force me to think. Shrug.

Author Azraeil

That is how I understand it, and at the same time each of the other galaxies administrators within the 93rd universe will be doing the same with their galaxies seats.

David Vieira

While I like William character, I find it weird that he is B grade already. The whole point of his journey was that Eversmile tricked him and he fucked up his records, even if he his back on his path. Him being revived by the leaf, him not participating in the System events, him going to nevermore while D grade and other stuff all removed records. I guess his Karmic connection with Jake and gods give him an edge but its weird he got to B grade at same time as Jake.

Xander

TFTC :) Ok whos got Jake getting stuck in to whatever big gribbly is coming? If its an A grade probably not, but some level 420 Arachnec Nestguard maaaayyybbbeeeeee? :D Also is it a timeskip or time dilation? Event started for Miranda meaning 10 days have passed on Earth but it's been a month for Jake when we swap back to his PoV. Suggested edits: "Welcome to the Administrator Test for the Milky Way Seat of the Exalted **." missing word "Prima" "the second time in a short time-span, another timer ran out," This is clunky phrasing. I'd go with "Soon enough, the second timer ran out" "attempted to repair its undead *compared*," should be "companion"

Episode 19

they came, they killed, they ran away tyftc

TwistedVanity

I believe Zogarth has tweaked this so he can add a challenge for Jake. As it stood before this chapter there wasn't really any one to challenge him, which could have been boring. At the risk of having undermined his previous set up for administrators [which is now almost pointless] he has now opened it up so that Jake is battling the best of B grades throughout the entire multiverse. A bigger challenge and so most likely more action and more fun. So the weak administrators all have peak elites and monsters from accross all the multiverses as their assistants and assuming they pass they can promote them to challenge Jake. So once this is over to allow the entrance of previously unknown monsters with extreme backing, inheritance and over powered equipment, they will all enter a competition with Jake for the seat.

Noah Mclelland

Im not sure even Jake could escape an A grade

TwistedVanity

I feel the previous competition to become administrators has become moot. I do understand that this allows new monsters and pinnacle elites from accross the multiverse to join the competition to make it more of a challenge and so more fun. Thanks for the chapter. I hope we get lots more frogs before the administrator arc truly commences

CT

it is not even friday yet.. Just wait :D

Brian Schutt

“repair its undead compared”- should this be companion?

CT

93 during chosen ceremony there was "in universe" explanation of the reason.

Fylbrom

I'm both, thankful this cliffhanger was on a weekday, and scared for what this means Fridays's cliffhanger will be...

CT

It would be hilarious if Jake teleported the frogs as helpers/assistants as they are running away. Meet up with other side-characters and sword saint going like " how do you make better friends with monsters than humans" , best bird naturally agreeing with a firm REE.

RonGAR

Jake's Situation: Here comes an 'A' Grade. Miranda's Team: Hmm, I like the members but wish they had more camaraderie. But that first message telling everyone they are not going to die no matter what they do this challenge, may have pleased someone like Miranda. But it will be a major bummer for ppl like Jake and the Sword Saint. Hmm Maybe this is just the first stage of the challenge? And the next stage that restriction will be lifted.

mucky 12

Damn! I didnt even consider that! It'd be funny if their unique skillset helped him progress further than the other administrator candidates. I mean how do you even balance a party like his? Lol

definitelynotbrjenness

I just see it as William being an elite just a level below jake and friends. he should also have some interesting records plus immense personal growth.

Jeroen Turkstra

That is wrong @losky. It would start 10 days after the notification and END 100 after starting. Meaning we’re about 1/3 of the way to the second part of the event: Choosing a chief admin for milky way galaxy.

zran

could be funny if the ones in the event has to do jake tutorial 🤣(without past jake being present)

Jeroen Turkstra

@lonez zhavec. Those were all profession levels. So it shouldn’t impact his class levels as far as i understand it. Or is there a thing I’m missing?

zran

i think this is to balance potential actions people might had done towards other administrators on the same galaxy between events, thinks about it, let's say galaxy A had 4 full administrators by the end of the previous event but then suddenly 3 of them are killed, making the last one the one potentially being the only one having rights over the seat of his galaxy, this event is to correct that by allowing new full administrators, to make sure there is no way to make it yours by using the time between events to your advantage

Josie

"William just wants to be a background character" Immediately sends William back to the tutorial where he most definitely was not a background character This system fuckery is so intense 😭

Nexas Aurelias

Its reallt not. If Jake hadn't been in tbe tutorial. William would most likely have been the number 1 candidate to watch on earth aside from the Sword Saint and since Jake didn't kill him in the tutorial the King of the Forest. My pt is I think you are severely underestimating Williams potential. Its easy to do when we spend so much h time with Jake

Lynderyn

Did Jake just miss his event?

Steven Tuttle

Tftc.. finally got my wife reading with me so we can discuss the chapters together ❤️

Bentao

A grade arachnec will be chasing Jake and he will be like lol I am going to an adventure being admin

Starkly Glim

It just occurred to me that frog people could have really great movement skills. Hopping great distances, anyone? Or should I be ashamed for indulging in froggy stereotypes?

Morgan Loman

That event is for the administrator candidates, Jake is already am administrator in full and will participate in the next event I think was in 10 days

KenTX325

The rules for this event are confusing and it’s not clear how Miranda figured out how she could go without Jake. Also, how can galaxies with fewer B grades enter? I hope this gets edited some before releasing the book. Maybe Jake gets a more personal message from the system allowing him to designate 4 candidates and eliminating former candidates? For example how did Miranda know how to enter the event without Jake?

Lazy Dragon

No, the first event was know for Admin Candidates to become Admins. After the 100 day event, all Admins will have another event to become Chief Admin.

Street Cat Restoration Project

Is Jake going to invite these frogs to the system event to escape this threat? That would rock and give them a first hand perspective of a tutorial.

Lazy Dragon

So we all agree, this is definitely Jake's Tutorial, right? I'm curious if they will be dropped to level 0 again. We've already seen that the Exalted Prima events can do crazy stuff, so it wouldn't be too surprising. Not to mention it would be a very good equalizer between grades for all candidates.

Soulessone

Could Jake miss the event due to being in this separate world?

KenTX325

It seems the standard for leveling in B grade will be insanely high. I thought the new race skill would help some with experience. If I’m reading this right he is going to need to go through about 150 higher level opponents for one class level?

Dominic Loporto

It's been pretty clear. This event is to see if administrator candidates can become full administrators. Jake is already a full administrator therefore this event isn't for him. Miranda is a candidate, making this event for her and others in her position to see if they can become full administrators. Once this event is over the administrators will compete for the prima seat. And who cares about galaxies with less B grades? The system is all about survival of the strong, not about uplifting every possible competitor.

definitelynotbrjenness

Lillian watches her back. William power and karma. hosted loyalty and militaristic. dragon power and political smart move showing we like dragons and beasts.

Horacio Solano

I was thinking the same, maybe not long distance but kind of evasive movement they can use once and again. Also maybe jake movemnet skill can help them as he has experienced diff kind of movement skills dince the originsl tutorial

Kelvin Garcia

He got to C grade first to. He levels fast but at the expense of records. He will probably end up an A grade

Jeff Olson

Sounds like you’ve been reading defiance haha

definitelynotbrjenness

jake and group can't escape massive army including a grades. circle comes to the rescue. jake uploads his potions. realizes they need more. spends time brewing before finally joins fight. secrets revealed. order grows. or jake channels villy to scare spideys.

Lemonsqueezy

"The Corpsemender nearby attempted to repair its undead compared, but three Venusian Warriors set upon it in an instant,"... Is "compared" supposed to be "compatriot"?

wartgalore

Could be that or comrade

Ben Cox

Talk about unlucky, I'm guessing either high or peak B-grade arachnec coming for jake and the venusians. A-grade feels like it would be waaaaay too much for them to even consider escaping. Or I suppose it could just be an absolutely massive horde of the regular variants. Tyftc

Bookreader97

I dunno what’s worse. Getting slain by Jake or beat so bad that you become irrelevant like William. Hoping he does some cool karma shit in the trial

Bookreader97

I think a big factor is the ease in which he’s killing them. My guess is that one monk is worth more xp than all the spiders combined and is probably only a newly evolved b grade as well

Bookreader97

Except for his OP bloodline lol

Lemonsqueezy

Jake's leveling rules are more based on difficulty of the fight over the level of the creature he fights. He can fight something 50 levels over him but is relatively simple and get no level, and then fight something his level that is very powerful and get several levels. It is all about how the system perceives the fight itself. The closer Jake gets to losing during the fight the more experience he gets from winning. It also factors in experience when Jake learns something new or upgrades a skill. Also Jake suffers severe diminishing returns on his fights. The more he fights a particular creature the less experience he gets from it. There is a CRPG game called Path of Exile that has these kinds of rules. Once you master a creature you stop getting a lot of experience if any from killing them. There are other games that have this rule, but PoE is one I can currently think of.

Bookreader97

He’s already hit the stereotype hard with the cheeks lol. All we need now is a tongue attack

KenTX325

I don’t think it’s clear. We had the message during the prima event designating 5 candidates/ galaxy. Jake kills 2, maybe Kindroth submits, and maybe one from church is eliminated or killed? Then Jake gets final reward for that event but all it says is more info when he hits B grade. He hits B grade, gets general message saying 10 days for candidate and 100 days for admiratiors. Nothing on how to enter event, how to designate candidates, and nothing saying Jake doesn’t have to participate in 10 day event or rules for new candidates unless I missed something. I read most chapters 2x. If I’m confused then maybe a reminder for more casual readers is needed.

Lemonsqueezy

No. It already stated that he would be teleported by the system when the event starts no matter where he is located in the multiverse.

Carl Never

It was at the end of the prima hunt jake is already a prima candidate. So he cant join this event.

definitelynotbrjenness

doubt. anything is possible. miranda ends up running it for ss if jake id absent.

Lemonsqueezy

Jake probably doesn't have the materials to brew health potions. This minor world doesn't have an abundance of life affinity ingredients to brew potions with, and considering that he just recently went on a massive potion brewing extravaganza he probably burned all of his ingredients. He could probably brew some really good poisons though. I don't think Villy will be able to help much with this because he is on a minor world in the 93rd universe and Villy cannot enter the 93rd. However, if you are talking about the skill where Jake can imitate the aura of Villy, that could work. However, nothing on this minor world knows of the existence of Villy or anything over A-Grade. So they would only really detect that Jake is powerful, but would hold no fear of the concept or knowledge of Villy himself. I think that is how that skill works, it just makes people think that Villy is personally there rather than Jake has the power of a god. It has been awhile since that chapter and I kind of forgot the specifics.

definitelynotbrjenness

they find a pile of excrement and William traces it to its source. cool karma shit.

Lemonsqueezy

Either that, or everything is upgraded to B-Grade. It could also be a completely different Tutorial, or each of their original tutorials. If you think about it Jake really wasn't that involved in his own tutorial. He went on his own very early and was absent for most of it. Then came back for a bit only to disappear on his own again. Then came back at the very end to kill William and end the tutorial. Jake also completely fucked up how is tutorial was supposed to go because of his bloodline. Either way I guess we will find out on the next episode of Dragonball Z.

2026-09-05 04:00 Ooooohhhhh!!!!! I wanna see cute Iguana Wyvern. He’ll for sure learn a thing or two about his own path now that he doesn’t have a system provided upgrade and a frozen mountain. Can we have a Wyvern side-story? Pretty please?

I think they might get dropped into their own previous tutorial at level 0 to see if they do things differently the second time around. I think many, like Miranda, just did the bare minimum to survive originally instead of pushing themselves to excel

Lemonsqueezy

I think at the end of this small arch Jake is going to manage to take this Shaman, and maybe a couple other Venusians, out of the boundary with him. He might be able to bring them with him when he goes to the SoTEP event as assistants. Jake isn't strong enough, and probably has no interest in, dragging out an A-Grade. Bringing out an A-Grade creature into the greater 93rd universe would be a terrible idea considering the fact that the 93rd universe is at max early B-Grade with maybe a few exceptions. Brining out the Shaman would be a great way to possibly get the Venusians into the Order or at least have them ally with Jake.

definitelynotbrjenness

I think he could suppress the entire battlefield, if not the entire island. might genocide if he goes overboard. I was picturing spiderballs while jake runs away dragging frog buddies with mana leashes.

Lemonsqueezy

Jake is already going to hold the lead seat for the Milky Way. That has already been determined. There is absolutely no competition for Jake on that. The event that Jake will participate in is for the World Wonder. That event is between the entire 93rd Universe, only one galaxy can win it. So all the administrators will be determined in the first phase. Each galaxy will then vote on who the SoTEP leader of the galaxy will be. Phase 2 will be the battle between the SoTEP leaders, and probably their assistants, for the World Wonder. This will conclude all system events for the 93rd Universe and then it will be considered completely integrated and opened up to the rest of the multiverse. This will also be when the 94th universe is created and after several billion years the process will repeat. Of course Zog could always add something else, these major system events is where Jake tends to get most of his levels. Without them we are going to be looking at a lot of minor adventures Jake goes through to get to A-Grade and on. This could really slow down the story progression.

Lemonsqueezy

They seem to fly everywhere, but maybe "hopping" could be translated into some sort of movement skill like Jake's "one-step".

Lemonsqueezy

Well considering Phase 1 of the SoTEP event just started Jake still has awhile. It hasn't really been stated exactly how long Jake has been in this minor world, or if it has some sort of time-dilation.

Lemonsqueezy

My wife only recently got into LitRPGs. She is currently listening to Dungeon Crawler Carl and enjoying it. Maybe she will get into this, I did get my mother into reading it though. I had to give her access to my Audible account so she could catch up on the story. You can no longer read the old chapters for free on Royal Road.

Vega

The wyvern is just so relatably antisocial

Lemonsqueezy

10 days for the first phase to start, then 100 more before the second phase begins. So Jake has about 4 months before he has to worry about it. However, Zog hasn't stated exactly how long Jake has been in this minor world or if there is any kind of time-dilation. Phase 1 just began so 10 days have elapsed in the "real world", but I have a feeling it has been a lot longer for Jake since the story said it has been almost a month.

Lemonsqueezy

Zog literally stated in this story that William is just a background character with no significant purpose lol. I never like the William character so I am enjoying his demotion to unimportant NPC.

definitelynotbrjenness

they all have to relieve a tutorial of one of the administrators. score based on outcome and power gain.

Lemonsqueezy

I am thinking A-Grade considering how the Shaman is treating it. There seemed to be a great emergency in how the story said they need to run, rather than they should probably get going. There is significant difference between a peak of one grade and the beginning of the next grade, except when you are talking about Jake. Jake has no chance against an A-Grade, but could probably deal with a mid level B-Grade when it came to escaping.

definitelynotbrjenness

or score based on total improvement of all the tutorial. system becoming more team focused.

John Durrett

Tutorials are announced with a countdown. Venus is not the tutorial - Sorry.

Lemonsqueezy

Zog kind of already did the "return to level 0" thing with the Nevermore arena thing. I guess we will figure it out tomorrow or the next day depending on how Zog tells it. I expect one side (Miranda or Jake) will be told tomorrow and the other on Friday. Either one could set up a good cliff hanger for next week.

Steven Tuttle

I've had her listening to the books. We listened to a lot of books, but she just finally started reading ahead. Chapters with me, cause she's always wondering what I'm talking about. Now. She's having the chance to learn she. Enjoys it, so it's a win for me

KenTX325

We need someone from earth to represent Ever-smile. I think Jake should give him a heretic grimware. I was hoping he would do this before B grade. I am also hoping he gives the Wyvrin the primal origin treatment and dragon heart.

KenTX325

It’s a completely new enemy. Significantly above his level. Others are going to have to do something crazy to keep up. Blow up planets or something. Miranda needs to learn the exploding frogs that insult your hairstyle skill.

definitelynotbrjenness

a little too confident since we don't know how the competition works.

Patty O’Cartnoy

I tend to agree. Admin Candidates have their tutorial, with some emerging as full Administrators. Tutorial test ends. The event for full Administrators is something totally different, with real death on the line. That’s my guess at least

Josie

All our critter friends didn't get a tutorial so do they have to restart as level 0 earthlings? What does Golden King get for his troubles 🤔 he must be sick of reliving the tutorial by now 😭

Rewdan

I’m so glad today is not Friday as that ending is brutal

Raymond Whitehead

Im wondering if Jake will take the team of frogs with him to the test. It would be hilarious to see their reaction and the rest of the multiverses reaction too

KenTX325

Just saying if you have to cite other books or look something up from 50 chapters back then maybe edit the system announcement or have a personal announcement that isn’t sent to multiverse that gives more info and lets him designate candidates. Right now it’s not clear how this event works. It would be good to do a little editing. It would help the story.

Corey S

Hmmm I wonder if the World Wonder takes them back to the tutorial in a similar way as their alternate path simulations? That could be very valuable for those who are stuck on their Path to always get that opportunity, outside of the 93rd

KenTX325

Level 1 iguana!

Jtk

My thought exactly, having some OP B-grades (compared to the rest of the galaxy at least) would certainly help a bit on top of his general Jake-ness

Cory S.

The event Miranda and company are doing are to determine how many more actual Administrators will compete in the final event. I think it was said it would take place in 100 days and if my estimate is correct it’s been less than 50 days since Jake arrived on “Venus”.

Ra

At least the Shaman if not the entire group

Xerecs

I hope that we might actually get more of Miranda's or another character's experience in this event not just a quick explanation to Jake about what the event was about. This seems similar to the previous event where Jake gained Sim Jake. This time around being the person perhaps being forced to undertake a different tutorial to what they originally experienced. Imagine if Miranda for example had to participate in a tutorial similar to Jake's. Or the Sword Saint having to experience a social focused tutorial like Miranda had. This might be heretical of me but thats far more interesting then Jake killing time by killing things.

DirePants

Sounds like an A-Grade got fed up 😂😂😂 this’ll be interesting.

definitelynotbrjenness

noooo. rereading things allows us to better remember random facts and details making us very much the cool kids everybody looks up to because of our superior knowledge.

Lynderyn

Minor worlds may have time shenanigans going on

definitelynotbrjenness

if it is arena style team combat (I don't think it will) how strong would Miranda's team be compared to others from milky way? I think they might be pretty easily the strongest with most of the premier elites going elsewhere.

Lynderyn

Villy knows a workaround for the no death issue

Carl Never

Yeah pretty sure she would beat out everyone else in town all the decent ones died and earth went everywhere else. Bet theres still some hidden powerhouse tho

definitelynotbrjenness

I would be so tempted to have hawkie and misty and grumpy space snake somehow become assistant administrators in milky way and Scarlett show up as an administrator of a galaxy dominated by snakes.

Josie

Hey what do you think is going to happen to Sylphie for this Event since she was born after the tutorial

Josie

It's like I'm being pressured to reread book 1.. and idk if the pressure is from me being extra and wanted all the details fresh or if this is part of the Malefic author's plan 🙃

definitelynotbrjenness

I think she'll get an administrator and possibly senior administrator for some elemental galaxy. I hope scarlet can participate. she seems to get screwed out of a lot for taking that natural treasure.

definitelynotbrjenness

unrelated side note... I want a scene of jake hearing voices near his cabin and when he investigates, it's his bird friends practicing human speech.

LongMickeyRicky

Agreed. We could easily have a weeks worth of chapters focusing just on miranda and her time and then cut back to Jake at whatever time to progress the actual story instead of doing what feels like filler of just “He saw these enemies, he killed them. He saw THESE enemies. He killed them.”

Josie

I meant what is Sylphie going to experience in order to get an Admin role since she wasn't around for the tutorial? Really I was just egging you on for a mad conspiracy lol

definitelynotbrjenness

oh. she gets to relive wintermauls ... oh wait.. beasts didn't have tutorials. she has to survive as a human in a tutorial where most people died to beasts. or she has to do a tutorial sponsored by the order and learn smelly pot stuff. honestly, they prob have to do something to affirm or improve their path. i'm kinda stumped on how beasts are going to participate.

Lemonsqueezy

I expect quite a few chapters about Miranda and others over the next week or so. Probably mixed in with Jake doing his thing. Really depends on how Zog wants to tell it. Jake is the MC so the story will mostly be about him. We will just have to see how Zog balances the two sides.

Lemonsqueezy

I am thinking it will be more of the tutorial but at B-grade since being a B-grade was a requirement to become an administrator.

Kaladin

Trying to find out the earliest a person has killed a God and came across this from Aeon: "In late-stage B-grade, an entire group of S-grades wanted to hunt him down, as he had acquired a natural treasure they wanted. They hunted him into a world much like Yalsten… and only he exited it, now firmly in A-grade. He had killed a group of thirty-seven S-grades, all able to kill him in a single move if they got the chance… but they never did."

Kaladin

Jake should be able to kill at least S ranks while in B by the end of it.

Biggy smalls

It was noted that Aeon didn’t kill them through normal means. He killed them via aging due to him messing with time in that minor world. He didnt fight them in a typical manner. Jake won’t be killing S grades until late A grade. Now maybe Jake can find a way to trick some S grades into dying in a similar manner as Aeon.

Cameron

I don’t remember when but there was a statement that it’s believed that the power in the center of the Milky Way galaxy might be enough to spawn s grade monsters when he was c grade I believe.

Xander

Just read your comments and the replies but...if remembering and understanding what has been said in previous books is beyond you then Im not sure what to tell you. The information was given and the important parts were repeated in the recent announcement. Jake is already a full blown potential administrator so he skips the first round of trials, the same as there are guaranteed spots and open spots in some sports tournaments. The best ranked tennis players in the world are guaranteed a place at Wimbledon or the US open but there are also ways to win smaller competitions to get into the main event. Jake is top ranked, Miranda is in a qualifying tournament. The system tells the people that could potentially attempt to get into the main event who they are. they can try and qualify if they want. Each galaxy has some top ranked administrators already and places for more. Behind the scenes system fuckery ranks those and the top ones are put through to the final event.

Kaladin

Didn't Valdemar kill a God while still as an A-grade? I'm trying to find where they talked about mortals fighting and killing gods and can't seem to find it.

Elijah Soleil

Where are you getting this information. Valdemar was a peak S grade before gods existed.

Carl Never

Technically that summon of jakes already killed a empyrian lol

Carl Never

The side story about karoch has a bit about him killing a god? But that was peak s i think

Kaladin

No, Valdemar went through the ranks just like all the other primordials: "Late S-grade, based on his instincts. Across from him stood a man. Just a regular human, from the looks of it, with a half-burnt beard. His armor was broken now, making him wear little more than a loincloth, and he held a simple-looking axe. It looked worse than the average one from any hardware store, as it was rusty and chipped. Needless to say, this man wasn’t just a regular human despite his looks. He gave off an aura of an S-grade, but one quite a bit weaker than the Malefic Viper. Perhaps he was only mid-tier S-grade?". I'll go find the quote from him being a simple warband leader when the system first came and adjusting to it well.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

She is gonna REEE!!! her way to the top for sure. She may face a smelly pot as a final boss but we all know the tasty snack rewards will be worth it.

Michael

He killed a first B grade at like 311, so about 40levels off. It seems unlikely he can kill an A grade more 80levels below

Michael

The Milky Way also includes Venus..

Michael

I’m curious how can Jakes potions work for the frog?? Iirc it’s just for humans, not beasts.

Seen Death

I dont think venus actually counts, in the same way that monsters that naturally spawned (and never left) a dungeon on earth will not be participating. Also this is already an elite selection for the administrators and how theyve previously preformed on the preliminary portions of this event (getting keys, protecting planets etc)

Seen Death

Is jake and his new frog friends going to barely avoid getting obliterated by an A grade by joining jakes party and going to the event? Haha

ABTelford

Incorrect: it works for all life affinity creatures. It would harm the undead but not living creatures. Jakes potions that use his blood are poisonous to all others but him, but he made all those mega bet he’s recently to sell, and tone of non humans are now on earth thanks to Jake being gifted slaves by the millions who are now citizens. Including monsters. Oh! He gave Scarlett’s a potion way back when

David

He used to give potions to hawky all the time

Seen Death

His new perk is definitely helping, but its kind of to be expected it didnt completely negate the default xp requirement getting raised in B grade. 1 level might seem small, but in most of the multiverse this would still be considered stupidly fast in general I wouldnt have been suprised if he gained no levels in this ~100 days to be honest- but also unsuprising because these are the easiest ones to get now, but i think the primary goal of these fights on venus is actually testing out his new abilities and getting used to his new strength He soloed 6? At the same time so theyre clearly way below his standards, even being 40 levels above him

Seen Death

If you guys are talking about something similar to the level restricted events like the arena in nevermore, unfortunately there most likely wouldnt be a lizard story haha. I forget the exact quotes but i think it scales it to whatever the lowest level possible for the individual is. For humans thats level 0, but for a race that is born at B grade, theyd be exactly that level But im not sure how that would work for something that evolved from something else though... Seems anti-fun if they go all the way back, but would be kind of equally bad if lets say the wyvern just evolved to a dragon at b grade, and then he gets "scaled to the minimum"... basically right where he is currently I think the newly evolved dragon would be at a severe disadvantage being paired against enemies who have had countless more time in that grade

Seen Death

Im going to respectfully disagree haha. My opinion: eversmile is someone who is incredibly powerful but is someone that you want to be around the absolute bare minimum haha. I think were currently skating a extremely thin line from him kidnapping jake currently The only reason he hasnt yet, is because jake is acceptably interesting while left to his own devices (a trait i hope he keeps lmao) Jake is seemingly the only person who can notice eversmile the doppelganger- thats including even villy himself. But because eversmile is so powerful, he is sought after by other powerful individuals for trading favours... but yeah hes probably the largest weirdo in the series in my opinion I think everyday life under his rule wouldnt be the most painful of experiences, but towards the end of the experiment it could easilly be one of the worst

heltok

That was a lot of killing +50 level creatures to get one level. Gonna be many books before A grade...

ZanSanCho

Nah, theyve only been out there a month. Still got 60+ days to go before his turn lol

Aaron Hardin

he didn't solo kill them, and also they were not all that impressive, as they are kind of like Ectognamorphs, so kind of drone like.

ABTelford

I’m actually expecting him to enter Nevermore alone, a couple chapters of different side characters as a year passes in normal time, then he emerges 1000 years older and high-mid B grade. Then the main plot picks up again.

Chloe

Tyftc

Devon Pucel

Did anyone else just get an email for this chapter on 3/24?

Alex

“So, it appears that assistants can’t be promoted, so...” They CAN be promoted though?

Alex

Sooo... Jake is totally gonna go take the venusians with him as his assistants. Perfect escape

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter

Marrla

OOOF I didn't catch that but you're totally right

Gh0st-Hunt3r

First - “So, it appears that assistants can’t be promoted, so...” ????? I think you mean CAN be promoted. And - WELCOME TO THE TUTORIAL - ???? Wha....?

Chris Layman

People take centuries to complete b grade

-Sanguine-

Yeah William definitely became irrelevant pretty quickly
