Okay... okay, taking a step back, Jake was eventually going to place Venus under his control, as, quite frankly, he wasn’t sure there was any valid alternative. With its placement in the Milky Way Galaxy and proximity to Earth, he wouldn’t feel safe just leaving it entirely alone. What’s more, he seriously doubted Miranda would allow such a potential danger right in their backyard.

However, that didn’t mean Jake planned on conquering the entire Minor World and turning its inhabitants into his subordinates by force. Especially not now, when it really wasn’t a pressing matter. With the world still sealed, Jake had plenty of time to discuss with Miranda and other smart people who were way more competent at this kind of thing than he was.

Yet the Great Sea Serpent seemed utterly convinced that Jake was about to unveil his brilliant plan for effortlessly dominating the entire world. That was definitely one downside of being Villy’s Chosen. Because the Primordial was a brilliant schemer and overall considered pretty smart, people also thought Jake was a clever cookie.

He was most decidedly not.

Still, Jake didn’t want to instantly disappoint the peak A-grade that seemed to now have an incredibly high opinion of him. He really tried to formulate a good response, which was when the snake spoke again, making things even more difficult.

“I also now realize my own ignorance and foolishness. In truth, we have danced in your palm from the very beginning, yes? Feigning weakness to make all natives of this world let down their guard, revealing all their secrets, as they never believed your existence a threat. Even now, they do not know who and what you truly are, making it a certainty they will continue to underestimate you, and realization will only strike when all their options are null, and submission is their only future.”

Yeah, things were only getting worse, and Jake had a strong desire to punch Villy in the face, as that bastard had definitely said or implied something making the Great Sea Serpent believe Jake had planned on taking over Venus.

It was definitely going to be exhausting having to act like he was actually some mastermind, and after some consideration, Jake decided to try to clear up the situation at least a little, though he feared convincing the A-grade wouldn’t be very easy.

“You overestimate me; I am indeed only someone barely in B-grade,” Jake said with a sigh. “Am I also the Chosen of the Malefic Viper? Yes, but it’s for reasons I don’t expect you to understand, nor will I try to explain them to you.”

While the Great Sea Serpent was most certainly an ally now, Jake still had to be a little careful. The peak A-grade clearly worshipped Villy and thus also showed deep respect and reverence for Jake, but he was still nervous about saying anything that could be construed as blasphemous. That made him not want to explain that he and Villy were actually friends, and that friends sometimes got along despite their differences. Such as the massive difference between being incredibly smart and knowledgeable, and Jake being more of the impulsive and instinctive sort, who believed more in his own intuition and gut feeling than empirical data or anything else logical.

“As for conquering this Minor World, it’s not a matter I see any need to rush, nor will I primarily handle it myself. My priority is growing my own personal power and gaining levels, so I have to have someone else take charge of this matter for me,” Jake said, deciding to reveal some information that he believed would make him still look somewhat competent, just someone with different goals.

“To clarify, the area surrounding the entrance and exit to this Minor World is already considered my personal domain. A domain that, in sheer size, I believe already surpasses this entire world, and will only continue to expand in the future. Thus, also claiming this Minor World is a foregone conclusion, as it would happen sooner or later, no matter what.”

Technically, Jake wasn’t entirely certain he could claim that he controlled the entire Milky Way Galaxy, as, quite frankly, galaxies were pretty damn huge. Sure, he had won the system event and had taken control of all planets inhabited by the enlightened in the Milky Way Galaxy, but that was just a small fraction of the total number of inhabited areas.

There were far more dangerous existences lurking in the galaxy, especially towards its center. The centers of galaxies emitted energy that helped make the entire galaxy a thing, but that also meant the mana there was incredibly dense and powerful, giving birth to equally powerful monsters.

Though, based on what Jake knew, an existence like the Great Sea Serpent would likely still be unrivaled unless an S-grade had managed to appear. The chance of that was low, but it could technically happen based on what was going on in the center. Only time would tell once he started exploring that area.

However, despite it being questionable if Jake could truly claim to “own” the galaxy, it was clear that in the eyes of the multiverse, it was indeed already his domain. Even if he didn’t have the power right now to truly claim it, no one would dare compete with him when the time came, making it only a question of time before it would truly be his.

“I see... so this journey into this world is merely just to explore it and judge of it’s worthy of becoming part of your territory?” the Great Sea Serpent asked, somewhat understanding what Jake was getting at, but not fully being on board quite yet.

“When I first went to explore the entrance to this place, I had no idea it would house a Minor World within, nor what kind of world it would be. I learned most of these things only after entering,” Jake answered truthfully. “My Patron, the Malefic Viper, certainly knows far more than we, but he prefers to let us mortals explore and make decisions on our own. It’s related to Records and whatnot, from my understanding.”

“It would be wildly presumptuous for us to expect the Malefic One to truly get involved in trivial matters like the dominion of this world, and I do understand that his decision to step in this one time was only due to the importance of your presence here,” the serpent said, at least seeming to be on board with Villy not being directly part of all this.

That should at least help explain away all the mistakes that Jake would definitely make. If the peak A-grade believed all of this was part of the Malefic Viper testing and tempering Jake – which it kind of actually was – it would help a lot going forward. Jake was still only a “young” B-grade, after all, so wasn’t it only expected for him to mess up and learn from his mistakes once in a while?

“Exactly,” Jake nodded, feeling like they were making solid progress in the conversation. “In regard to taking over the world, there are matters outside that my assistants and I will have to deal with first before we can turn our attention to this Minor World. So for now, we should focus on strengthening ourselves and preparing. I don’t doubt you have much to digest either.”

That assumption was a very safe one, as there was no way the Great Sea Serpent didn’t have a lot to process after meeting Villy and getting a Divine Blessing. The Blessing had come with a title and a skill, but for a peak A-grade, that wasn’t necessarily the most important part.

Instead, it was the Records he’d been granted and now had greater access to.

Upon reaching B-grade, Jake’s sensitivity to concepts had improved drastically, and that improvement only became more noticeable in A-grade. It was also very common to gain skills reminiscent of Jake’s sacred meditation, allowing one to explore concepts and improve oneself. These were far more limited than Jake’s skill, only touching on limited concepts and affinities, often ones that closely aligned with one’s Path.

Under the assumption that the Great Sea Serpent had a skill allowing him to explore concepts, it was only to be expected that the overwhelming Records of the Malefic Viper had now started to affect what he could explore and the improvements he could gain.

To be clear, the peak A-grade could likely always find these concepts related to the Malefic Viper, due to how closely tied they were to the Paths of all snakes, but giving a Blessing made it so much more effortless.

In conclusion, the Great Sea Serpent had a lot of benefits to still be gained from receiving the Blessing, and many skills to potentially upgrade and improve as a result. Something he would likely want to do anyway before evolving to S-grade, as it would no doubt result in a better evolution.

“I feel that with my newfound power, I will already have an advantage facing the other beings at the apex of this world, but you are right. That is merely my arrogance speaking. In reality, should I face them within their domains, I cannot with certainty say victory is assured, and even if I do win, I would not be able to prevent their escape,” the Great Sea Serpent said in an apologetic voice, though he quickly bounced back.

“However, if I can comprehend even a fraction of what the Malefic One has bestowed upon me, that will change. I realize from a mere glance that, should my comprehension improve significantly, I will not only be able to grow more powerful but also realize the flaws of my opponents. We all focus on cultivating toxins, so what if I comprehend their Paths and strive to counteract them? A sentiment that I would have found ludicrous a day ago, but now... not so much,” the peak A-grade finished, almost sounding giddy at the prospect.

“That does sound like a good plan on your end,” Jake nodded, wholeheartedly in agreement.

The term “fight poison with poison” existed for a reason, though perhaps the term in this case was more literal than originally intended. Poisons were not just one thing, but a term describing a myriad of different concepts of energies, many of which were opposing, neutral, complementary, or outright volatile whenever they came into contact with one another.

If the Great Sea Serpent could gain a better understanding of the toxins that the others in the top three of Venus were using, he could begin to make counters. Methods to neutralize their poisons, and even make toxins that could start to deal actual damage to his opponents. While these two other peak A-grades would still have some resistance, as the venom would still fall under the wider concept of being considered “poison,” it would still be an advantage that could potentially lead to the peak A-grade truly becoming the strongest in the world.

“However, I will add one thing,” Jake said after thinking for a bit more. “Killing these other peak A-grades only needs to be done if it’s absolutely necessary, or if they’re the kind of creatures that cannot be communicated with. Ideally, they will become assets, not enemies. The same goes for the Arachnecs, Venusians, Nomads, and any other faction of this Minor World.”

Truthfully, one big reason Jake said this was his fear that the Great Sea Serpent would go on a revenge mission once Jake was gone from Venus. While he certainly had a bone to pick with certain Venusians and Arachnecs, he wasn’t going to condemn an entire race due to the actions of the few. Especially not when he understood that their actions primarily stemmed from ignorance and fear of what was going to happen to their world.

Jake also didn’t want to turn these fears into reality. Venus was part of his domain, yes, but that didn’t mean Jake needed to aggressively conquer it and subjugate all the natives if he could avoid it. Doing something like this also simply didn’t sit well with who Jake was as a person. The Venusians, Arachnecs, and all other factions of this Minor World had their own cultures and histories, and Jake didn’t want to erase all that just because they were unlucky enough to be born in his backyard. Ideally, he truly wanted them to remain self-governed, though still under his overall governance. He wanted their joining of the multiverse to be a good thing for both Venus and the Milky Way Galaxy.

That being said, there were a few for which he would shed no tears should they meet unfortunate ends. Starting his “conquest” by killing people in positions of leadership probably wouldn’t be a good idea, though. Or maybe it would be. Jake had no idea and would really like Miranda to be the one deciding those kinds of things.

“Turn them from enemies to assets...” the Great Sea Serpent muttered, making Jake fear for a moment the gigantic snake wouldn’t agree with his plan. “Once more, I misjudged you. Your goals are far beyond what I could even imagine. To not merely wish to eliminate those who stand against you, but to make them realize their own foolishness and join you willingly, is truly ambitious. It even appears impossible, but there are many things I ignorantly believed impossible, so who am I to question you? Moreover, upon reflection, I do understand. Would the natives of this world truly dare stand against you if they experienced the true power of the Malefic One? No, no, they would see the error of their ways and submit in reverence.”

Okay, yeah, that wasn’t exactly what Jake was going for, but hey, better than the giant snake viewing all the other natives as snacks to be devoured in the name of the Malefic One. Jake really hoped things would work out, but to make that happen, he should refrain from acting on his own too much.

While the situation had turned out well in the end, Jake knew that this entire trip to Venus would have ended in absolute disaster if not for Villy.

“It sounds like you understand my objective somewhat,” Jake nodded, briefly looking around the cavern. “I would like a personal space, as I have some matters to attend to, and I may need to commune with the Malefic One.”

The Great Sea Serpent’s gaze intensified, the A-grade full of fervor. “Certainly! I’ll prepare the deepest chamber for you, and while it’s certainly way below your standards, the energy there will hopefully prove somewhat beneficial.”

That’s when Jake realized something else. Despite the snake having learned a lot about the multiverse, the existence of enlightened species seemed not to have been included. Had Villy excluded it on purpose? Who the hell knew, but it seemed like the serpent was still under the impression that Jake was a monster.

Fortunately, the more toxic atmosphere did benefit him a little, courtesy of Palate of the Malefic Viper. Far from as much as a monster would benefit, but Jake would still gladly take the offer.

“Then let us do that,” Jake nodded. “I assume you’ll bring me there?”

“If the Chosen allows it,” the Great Sea Serpent confirmed.

Jake gave his agreement, and not long after, he was swallowed by the snake once more and brought even deeper into the sea. The Great Sea Serpent appeared to have several undersea caverns with highly concentrated toxic energy within that was also easy to absorb due to natural formations created by the sea.

Venus truly was a paradise for poison-users, and Jake could see many members from the Order make pilgrimages there in the future.

After being taken to his destination, which was a vast cavern inside a suspended rock down inside the sea, Jake excused the Great Sea Serpent. The massive A-grade seemed reluctant to leave, but ultimately did as told, though he didn’t exactly leave.

Instead, the Great Sea Serpent returned to his full size and stayed in the ocean around Jake’s suspended rock, protecting him as the serpent also started digesting all the gains he’d received from the Malefic Viper.

Jake was also happy to confirm that the peak A-grade didn’t even try to spy on him, but fully respected his privacy, as Jake was finally alone for the first time in what felt like forever.

With a sigh, he sat down and only now truly felt the mental exhaustion from all that Venus had brought so far. His soul was also still injured, and having channeled Villy to hand out a Divine Blessing had also taken a bit out of him, making it very pleasant to finally just sit down and relax.

He just sat there for about an hour, doing nothing. Jake didn’t even really think about anything, but just let his thoughts stray. After he felt better mentally, Jake let out a sigh and reached out to his Patron, figuring a conversation was long overdue.

Can’t wait to see this conversation, Villy’s going to belly laughing about this.

The real first is He(she) or whoever actually gets the chapter read first. They are the true winners.

Villy with the pptx ready to explain where Jake made mistakes.

Loststar7

Looking forward to this next conversation. Thanks for the chapter.

djthomp

Conquer the world yes, but nicely. Thankfully big snake is willing to see it as a sneaky snake-like activity.

Arieh Sochaczevski

Thanks for the chapter! Finally a chance to meditate with the gate - I hope.

GG Zog, another great chapter.

TFTC :) Suggested edits: "incredibly smart and *knowledge*, and" should be "knowledgeable"

J

This by far will probably be the best Jake and Villy talk jokes and growth!!!

Flurry

You just made me laugh. Thanks for that xD

WhiteLeeopard

He could build the teleporter to the Order and bring back A grade healing potions and stat elixirs. That would likely finish putting the snake way above the competition.

Rewdan

Jake will try and defend his actions only for Villy to point out how dumb / naive Jake has been.

Rewdan

Thanks Zogarth great chapter 👏👏👏

Wait....can't he just claim the planet pylon? Or does this minor world not have one?

BumAssBumAss

Wonder how much revenge Jake is going to commit to. Those 3 A-grades are definitely on the list.

I don't think it's a world, like a planet. It's more like a mini dimension

Bluejay

As a minor world, it probably is a space that is where Venus should be and not actually be a planet itself. It is a separate subspace and planetary pilons are created by the system in the multiverse space level as its an indication of influence on the space around it.

Tftc 70% of this chapter was internal monologue and yet it was peak 👏 how does he do it

TeamNoPants

Pretty disappointed in the last week’s postings. I don’t think these chapters could be dragged out more if we tried.

Colin

“As expected of…”

Th3Defiant

I don’t think dragged out is exactly right, but I agree that the writing style is tough with all the exposition and monologues. It seems like every chapter is a 30 second conversation 😅 I just hope that Venus has some kind of relevance in 50 chapters. Unlike Jake’s “garden” on earth. Where it seemed like it would become something and now is just a story point

Dougie Mitchell

"Just a prank bro" said the laughing Vilastromoz within his divine realm

TeamNoPants

Yea I guess I just get the feeling like it’s a 1 week tangent that could have been 1 chapter. Maybe I am wrong, but I read everything via book, then transitioned to individual chapters and its the last 3 months that have been the slowest. I felt similar in December. If every story going forward is going to be dragged out, maybe I should cancel my membership and come back in 3 months and see how things have developed, bc right now it’s rarely satisfying.

Fylbrom

Very excited for next chapter. This one was good in how it was necessary, but we already know Villy is gonna give Jake a good ass chewing tomorrow so im very much looking forward to it!

Prospects

From a strategic perspective it would be best if he didn’t have to kill them. Having the possibility of bringing out three peak A grades, and dozens more that are a few steps behind them would allow for a massive increase in military power that is unaffected by the restrictions placed by the system. Well most of them anyway.

Th3Defiant

I feel the same way. The books flow better, but when it’s day by day on Patreon, the story seems to stutter. Hats off to Zog for writing a story that always feels like it needs another chapter, but it does wear on me sometimes 😂 When I catch up to the most recent chapter, I typically cancel and come back down the road so I have a backlog.

zran

depends on the gravity of their actions on his eyes, likely the lich will be killed outright just merely due to the slave like soul contract, the arachnec nestmother likely will get killed as well since jake hates mind control with passion, as for the horned slayer it could go both ways, either killed or heavily harmed again

zran

worlds where monster exclusively lives has no pylons, is only where enlightened do live, venus minor world has only monsters, so makes sense it has none

Anomander_Rake

Funny, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying them. This is the calm before the Prima event storm. I’ve particularly liked Jake in this situation as he seems to be doing a lot of growing and maturing. Also liking the new world races. This minor world has opened up a lot of possibilities for the story and I’m excited for where it could go. Although it could just end up like the rest of the many amazing things in Jake’s possession that he has completely forgotten about 😭 😂

Anomander_Rake

Anything other than this is unacceptable 🤣 So looking forward to this conversation!

Anomander_Rake

Is he still in his flamingo costume? 🤣

ABTelford

Thanks for the chapter! Looking forward to peak Villy reading tomorrow. I kinda expected Jake to start teaching Mr sea snake alchemy. Maybe Billy can give him pointers on how to introduce alchemy to snakes? That’s be cool!

Seen Death

"I don’t doubt you have much to digest either.” > "I imagine you have much to digest aswell" Something along those lines seems to flow better... in my head atleast. TYFC!

Lemonsqueezy

This is going to be long because I am replying to everyone. I think a lot of last week was because Zog was busy dealing with his house. It was rather wordy but there was a lot of detail that needed to be written. If he wrote it all in a couple chapters it would have felt really rushed, at least to me. Also, when you read this one chapter a day it seems worse. If you were reading the book it wouldn't be so bad because the next chapter is right there to immediately read. Also, chapters in a book are usually a lot longer than what we see here. The length of the chapters he posts here would only be 2-3 pages long in a book. They are also the first draft and are the raw writing. That is why you see spelling and grammar mistakes in them. When he goes to publish the next book it goes through an editor for QC and things are flushed out to make the reading more enjoyable. Maybe taking a break is best for you guys, but then you are just waiting for the next chapter for that much longer, which in my case makes me lose interest altogether. As for the future relevance of Venus, I am sure we will see more of it later. Zog needs to start getting into the SoTEP event arc. I expect it to last around 20-30 chapters if not more. I am not expecting Nevermore length, but it should be quite long. After that we will get into the clean-up and aftermath of it. Then I expect more about Venus to come into the picture again. It will be like most things in this story. It will be really relevant at first and then slowly die off and be mentioned occasionally. Probably at the times where Jake returns to Earth to check in on things. It would be another place Jake checks in on. He always goes home, talks to Miranda, deals with the issues she has, checks on friends and family, then goes and talks to Arnold on the Moon. He will just have to add Venus to his path. Also considering that the people of Venus are up to peak A-Grade there is still plenty of benefits he can get from it. The only problem with it is that Zog never introduced anything for Jake to grind XP from unless one of the factions turn completely hostile towards him. I have never seen any mention of there just being creatures Jake can kill. As for Jake's garden, the biggest reason it isn't really talked about anymore is because it no longer provides a significant benefit to him other than for his alchemy, and at this point they are considered low tier ingredients because Earth is E to peak D grade when it comes to plants and creatures, with very sparse C-Grade. Zog has to keep the story moving on so things of old have to be rarely if ever talked about. Same reason you stop hearing about other characters, they are just no longer important to the story because they are just too far behind Jake and others in regards to power.

Lemonsqueezy

Either one works, but I like your version better.

Lemonsqueezy

I can always tell people that write comments on their phones. There are a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes (not in your case). The biggest sign though it the auto-correction of Villy to Billy. The biggest issue with teaching him alchemy is that GSS doesn't have hands. Unless he can do some sort of telepathic thing or morphs himself to be more human-like It would be impossible.

Lemonsqueezy

A: Most are just using GSS. That is turned into calling him Guss. I still like Jorgie which is short for Jormungar (the Norse version of Oroborus which fits Zog because he is from Denmark). B: Not sure what you mean here TBH. C: I think it was explained early on that Villy was in a kill or be killed mindset. He is from the 1st era so there was no one to explain things or guide him.

Lemonsqueezy

Very true, but I don't see that happening until Jake (and a several of the 93rd) reach A-Grade. Mostly due to the restriction of Jake only being able to bring people out that he is more powerful than, and I say Jake because he is considered to be the most powerful person in the 93rd and especially in the Solar System. So it might be quite some time before they can leave and by then they wouldn't as great of an asset because everyone would be around the power of these A-Grades. The 93rd also has a restriction on level and grade who can enter.

Lemonsqueezy

Over here using his government name.

Adam

Why hasn't Jake stuck Shadow-Jake in front of the gate of enlightenment to just hangout near permanently? "Jake takes a bite of a mango. 'Ding' your skill Eternal Shadow has upgraded to Supreme. WTF!!!?"

Lemonsqueezy

I am also excited to see the conversation

Lemonsqueezy

Some are complaining about it. These things are necessary for a flushed out story. It is only bad because we can only read one chapter a day and they are rather short. In an actual book this whole chapter would only take 2-3 pages. I expect that when the book is released (as I saw in the previous ones) the entire Venus arc will probably only like 4 chapters.

CJ King

Thank you for the chapter!!

Lemonsqueezy

I think the Horned Slayer will die. He actually attacked and tried to harm Jake. The thing with the Lich though is that he presented the contract, but it seemed like it was a plan by all of them. I don't doubt the Lich came up with the idea, but the others definitely agreed to it. I think the other A-Grades will be punished and only the Horned Slayer dying. However, Jake could be an angry boy and decide they all need to die. We could see a situation where they go to talk to the other top A-Grades (I am assuming each faction has one) and after they realize what they are dealing with they will be the ones that dish out the punishment. At first I thought the Lich and Horned Slayer were the other two top A-Grades, but after this chapter I realize that they are not. That makes me think that each faction has a peak A-Grade that runs everything, which would keep in line with the System always wanting balance. Maybe we will see a situation where Jake goes to talk to them with GSS and explain, might even see some lesser blessing given to them so they can directly experience Villy and truly understand who Jake is. This would be the best way to get all three factions subservient to Jake and bring peace to Venus and Jake's empire.

Lemonsqueezy

I do not think minor worlds have pylons. However, rhe Moon had a pylon and before Arnold moved in it was monsters only. All planets and moons have one. The difference with this minor world is that it technically isn't Venus. Venus just contains the portal to the minor world. In the original descriptions to the minor world Jake said that there was no curvature to it, it was flat oceans with large islands that went out as far as he could see. I expect that once the boundary completely drops, the minor world and Venus will merge into one entity and Venus will be transformed to look like the minor world.

Lemonsqueezy

That will happen, but he still leaves these decisions for Jake to make. It doesn't tend to interfere unless Jake is in a situation that is going to get him killed almost always involving beings that are a higher grade and significantly more powerful than he is.

Lemonsqueezy

Villy could give him one of those special potions he gave Artemis, at an A-Grade level of course. Or some sort of artifact for GSS to consume.

Lemonsqueezy

He has to add to that by speaking in the most monotone voice. The number of times I have had to listen to briefs like that when I was in the service are just to many.

Lemonsqueezy

I think most of them just immediately comment. I was up early and read it as soon as it was posted and there were already comments, and I do not read slow.

Lemonsqueezy

Sim-Jake merged with Jake and his Katar. He no longer exists.

The Dregs

Regarding the garden, what if it’s more like a little nest egg. It may seem slow to progress along with the trolls but with the close proximity to Jake and his records the potential for growth is immense. A huge dug out pond that’s slowly being filled with quality water rather then filled quickly with less optimal records.

Josie

That's a great idea as the Katar is Soulbound to Jake and Shadow Jake is always just chillin in Jake's soulspace anyway. Oh wow, very OP and Shadow's in need of an upgrade anyway 👍

Josie

I'm ready for Jake to introduce his new guard snake to belly rubs "Who's a good boy? You are! Yes you are!"

Josie

He already knows Sit and Stay. Soon he'll learn Conquer 😈

Ben Sheahan

Sim-Jake doesn’t exist anymore. Jake just perceives the records of the Eternal Shadow skill/Katar as Sim-Jake

Great chapter! Thanks Zog!

Nah, Billy is deliberate at least half the time. It's a running joke in the comments

NinjaDad

Any guesses on what Jake names the snake? Hawkie- a hawk Mystie- a mystsong hawk Sylphie- a sylphian hawk Villy- Vilastromoz (supreme danger noodle) Sandy- big sand worm Jasper- because of the jasper stone in the cave … Great sea serpent names: Snakey? Serppy? GaSSy? Bob?

definitelynotbrjenness

this is definitely Dilleman ( dcc author) giving zog shit. be nice or I'll only read your next book two or three times.

Rob Lyon

Yeah he's also going to laugh his ass off at Jake. In the viper's defense when Jake asked about giving out blessings He did say he would lay it on super thick and let them experience a true dose of divinity

TeamNoPants

Yea, I guess Ill just wait 3 months and see if I still care. Tbh, after responding today, I canceled my membership. While I might miss my morning routine of the read, Ive been disappointed daily the last 2 weeks+ and I get the feeling that this will continue. I have started following other litrpg authors on Patreon and I feel like I get much more material from them, even if they post less than Zog (3x per week vs 5x)

Rob Lyon

@Lemonsqueezy I've seen a lot of people complaining as well But you always see that. Some people only want to see all action of the story move from one important plot point to another with no worldbuilding in between to me stories like that make for boring reading but it seems to be some people's preference

definitelynotbrjenness

Definitely Dillybar/Dinnerman and now that his cover has been blown, he's running away with his tail tucked into his heart covered underwear.

Rob Lyon

Oh yeah the horned slayer will definitely get taken out because he's as guilty as the lich and trying to use the sole contract if not more so. Because it is clear that the litch was brought to the meeting she didn't show up on her own

Lemonsqueezy

Jake didn't name Jasper, the Forest King did. A lot of people have suggested Guss. I like Jorgie (short for Jormungar) because Zog is from Denmark and it keeps in line with Jake adding IE to all the names.

Lemonsqueezy

I probably could. Some of the people with more words misspelled than not might be some. Either that or they smashed their face into their keyboards.

Lemonsqueezy

I did not know it was a running joke. I thought it was an auto-correct because it always underlines Villy when I type it.

Lemonsqueezy

The new DCC book comes out May 12th and I am excited to read it. It has been a long time since I finished the last one.

Lemonsqueezy

The biggest thing I can relate to that way of thinking is the later Dragonball series. The original was almost entirely story and very few times where there was fighting or significant conflict. DBZ also had a lot of story and build up, but did have more fighting. Those two are often considered to be the best series. Move to GT and it was mostly fighting and the filler in between really wasn't that interesting and really didn't provide much relevance to the overall plot. It is often considered to be the worst. Moving into DBS, it was almost entirely fighting. There wasn't much story development at all. I enjoyed it, but only because I had been watching Dragonball for nearly 30 years by then and knew all of the story. However, many people consider it to be on par with DBGT. You also had the short series where they all became kids again. I saw that as a gimmick to throw back to the old times, it was okay to me because there was a lot more story involved. I think it is just the times we live in. People are use to getting instant satisfaction from everything. The older generation, like myself, are accustomed to having to wait for things. I was also in the service for 20 years and that was mostly hurry up and wait situations. If things are too rushed it can make me lose interest because my imagination isn't drawn in to the story. Sometimes these chapters can get a little wordy and not a lot of progress is made, but people need to remember that they are the first drafts and raw writing. So of course it is going to be wordy, it will all be fixed from his editor before he releases the next book.

DCC is awesome in my opinion because it is so different from everything else. of course I read the "This Quest is Bullshit." four book trilogy also. don't have a clue who wrote that.

NinjaDad

You’re right, it was the FK who named him but he said something about a gem stone if I remember correctly, and Jasper’s fur color or something… idk… I’ve slept since then so I don’t remember. 😂

TeamNoPants

I wish i was creative enough to be responsible for DCC, although I’ve only read up until the odd train-related story arc.

Maybe some thing of the name Thalassophina as it's a sea viper....Jake could remember watching animal planet or something

Fylbrom

Bit of foreshadowing from the forefather

Fylbrom

Guss. Jake doesn't WANT to explore right now, he wants to sit and recover ,mentally and then work internally as was said in the last chapter. So he isnt being interfered with at all. Villy's "edgy boi" phase, as you so eloquently described it, has been explained to Jake, by Villy himself, a long time ago. We likely won't be getting another explanation, as the one we got was very detailed.

Zilver 51

The title reminded me of -Pinky and the Brain-.

it's ok. we figured zog trolled u and "the defiant" first and you guys are just here for revenge trolling.

Biggy smalls

It's hard to harp too much on Jake here. He's only a little over 150 years old and had no diplomacy training. Compare that to the beings he's dealing with in this minor world and it's silly. This Peak A grade snake is around 250k years old.

TeamNoPants

Ah, nah. Just a frustrated fan who enjoys a lot of these chars

Biggy smalls

The scary part for me is Jake's only gained 1 level in like 30 chapters. I'd like to see him work on upgrading his skills at the gate of enlightenment rather than more politicking here in Venus world. Especially since he doesn't gain any XP from politicking. Especially now that he's got the strongest being in this minor world on his team now.

Jake if you can take a look at slide number 6, it shows .... If we can circle back to slide number 356 it clearly states...

John Durrett

Yes, We may actually have a type of big brother for you. :)

Josie

Skills can be upgraded and Eternal Shadow manifests another reality. He can upgrade it to act much like an avatar. Within his soulspace Shadow Jake can meditate until he needs it for the outside world

John Durrett

Is it really a robbery when a debt is collected? :P

ABTelford

lol! Yup, I read and type from my phone. Usually I catch that villy-billy mix up but I was sleep deprived and distracted by an equally sleepy kid needing to get ready for school. I hate daylight saving time! It’s so stupid…🥱

Tristin S Alderson

He does already have a True Royal that loves headpats

Summer Coff

"The Great Sea Serpent’s eyes opened wide." Recommend rethinking how you phrase this, since snakes don't have eyelids. Maybe its pupils widen?

Summer Coff

I'm going to call him Billy on purpose from now on.

VenL.C.

100% “The same thing we do every night Pinky….”

Josie

Their pupils don't dilate either. They don't have good eyesight, but sense the world primarily through those tongue-flicks they do

Samuel Jones

Totally ready for Villy playing it up by cackling like a super villain and reveling in the majesty of his Chosen's grand plan

Corvid

I dunno, there were snakes with big beefy arms, who's to say they don't also have the ability to look surprised

Corvid

Yes, let's stick the chimeric sin curse of hunger attached to his soul in front of a gate that almost erased his entire existence from a tiny crack! I see absolutely no way that could go terribly wrong XD

Corvid

Miranda just sneezes out of nowhere

Fylbrom

An easy response to make after already looking dumb. You're the type to hate for the sake of it, then get defensive after getting any response that doesn't match your wishes. You're not smart or funny

UNKNOWN

A god would die of old age before the PowerPoint presentation ended.

Foot of Doom

The GSS’s tongue flailed like one of those blow up noodle guys in the wind…

Let villy give it a shot this time

Summer Coff

I don't really understand why the System would intervene to give every single monster in existence eyelids, even the ones without eyes, but I'm not the expert and the System is.

definitelynotbrjenness

Due to potential damage from light magic, snakes developed a flap of skin that could be closed over the eye for protection.

Flurry

Honestly, the fact that snakes don't even have eyelids makes "The Great Sea Serpent’s eyes opened wide" all the more impactfull. *nods*

Parker Bond

Big V (because of Venus)

D’Angelo Oglesby

I was thinking, wouldn’t it be cool if scarlet and this serpent hit it off. I know it would be a while before they met but it would be sick.

“he wasn’t going to condemn an entire race due to the actions of the few.” Didn’t bro slaughter el’hakaans entire race🥀
