Back in his lodge, Jake sat on the porch and ate a banana as he enjoyed the view of the small pond and waterfall. Within his sphere, he also saw Rick busy at work far beneath Haven, in a vast cavern, and, turning his attention to the city itself, he saw it was truly buzzing with activity.

The city portion of Haven had truly turned into a metropolis that was unlike anything Jake had experienced before the system. Mainly considering just how fast the city had expanded.

Having over a hundred kilometers between the forest that housed Jake’s lodge and just a few thousand people and the massive city most now referred to as Haven had seemed like a lot initially, but now, he knew that Hank and Miranda had discussed whether it was even enough.

To Jake, the concept of a city expanding to be over a hundred kilometers of dense construction seemed ludicrous, even if he’d seen it happen more than once already. He’d observed planets that had their entire surfaces covered with construction, creating planet-sized cities.

Shit, just the Order of the Malefic Viper had cities that far surpassed the entire surface area of Earth in scope. It was really only to be expected that Haven would one day reach that size if not for Miranda stepping in and creating a buffer zone between city Haven and forest Haven.

I definitely get why Arnold wanted the moon. Plenty of space, peace, and quiet. Oh, and he doesn’t have to bother getting building permits when he wants to add another mega-factory, Jake chuckled to himself as he finished off his banana.

After sitting quietly for a few moments, Jake turned his attention to the two black suitcases. He already knew what was in them and had waited to open them until he was properly settled at home, so he could take some time to properly analyze what the scientist had cooked up.

Telekinetically lifting both suitcases over, Jake had them float in front of himself as he slowly opened both for dramatic effect... and initial impressions weren’t that great.

What Jake saw within the two suitcases was just a black sweater in one and what looked like black jogging pants in the other. Both looked to be made out of common cloth that wasn’t even waterproof.

However, Jake didn’t let himself be disappointed, as he trusted the mad scientist, and upon using Identify on the sweater, he felt his belief reaffirmed.

[Stabilized Voidfiber Chestpiece (Ancient)] – A piece of armor seemingly not of the material world, yet it exists firmly within it. Made from regular, powerful fibers interwoven with some that have been touched by the void, empowering the overall armor piece significantly. These void-touched fibers were then stabilized and given their current form as their innate power permeates the armor. Offers substantial resistance to all damage and can nearly instantly self-mend as long as the wearer has sufficient energy. This chestpiece nullifies a portion of all damage dealt to its wearer, as energies and concepts are absorbed by the void, rendering them null. Due to its material, the chestpiece is highly customizable. Enchantments: Voidfiber Nullification. Voidfiber Customization.Requirements: lvl 350+ in any humanoid race.

After checking out the chestpiece, he also quickly used Identify on the pants, confirming that the two items were very much a set.

From the looks of it, Arnold had switched up the material he used this time around. Jake’s current armor was made of Titansteel Nanofiber, which sounded both more and less impressive than Stabilized Voidfiber. His old stuff definitely sounded more sci-fi than the new, but he preferred Voidfiber. Anything with the word void in the name tended to be awesome.

Regarding the effects of Jake’s new armor, Arnold had indeed listened to his request and done away with any stats. Funnily enough, that meant when Jake switched his old equipment out for the Voidfiber stuff, he’d actually lose several thousand stats from his status menu.

Of course, in reality, it didn’t matter as his Primal Spirit of Man made up for the difference instantly, but the thought of losing stats from a gear upgrade was still funny to him. Oh, and to be clear, this was definitely going to be an upgrade.

The items were still ancient rarity, the same as his old stuff, while now being made for B-grades. That meant a lot more Records total, with all of those Records focused entirely on the two enchantments on the pants and chestpiece. One of those enchantments was related to customizing the armor, which rarely took up much budget, which meant that everything had been focused on that Voidfiber Nullification effect.

Jake wanted to test it, but first, he needed to see how the customization worked, as there was no way he was going to wear his new equipment as-is. It would make him look like some guy pitching the newest phone at a tech conference, which really wouldn’t fit his whole hunter vibe.

Taking off his old stuff, Jake felt the stats disappear as he severed his connection with the pants and chestpiece that had both served him well in C-grade. He put them aside for now, planning to give them back to Arnold later... actually, he was just going to put both in the suitcases his new stuff came in and leave them with someone who could get them back to Arnold. That way, Jake couldn’t forget.

For now, Jake wanted to avoid standing on his porch without clothes as he took on and formed a connection with his new equipment. Feeling the Voidfiber, it was practically identical to wool at first, and it even stretched the same way. Really, the more he interacted with his new armor, the less it felt like actual armor and the more it felt like regular clothes.

However, when he formed a connection with it, he got a far better understanding of its nature. Jake couldn’t help but smile a little as he started out with the customization right away, and damn, did he instantly question his assumption of where the Records budget had gone.

The level of customization available was beyond anything Jake had imagined. He could change the texture entirely, making his armor feel like leather or even metal, and with little more than a thought, his equipment morphed into armor that looked nearly identical to what he had before.

Deciding to play around a little, Jake added some details here and there, also finding himself relieved that he could make a hood grow out from what had once been a sweater. Color-wise, Jake also had free rein, and after some consideration, he decided to make a change.

Usually, Jake’s armor was almost black or dark brown, as those were the colors leather tended to end up with. However, now, given the choice, Jake decided to add a little bit of color he believed would suit him. Seeing as he was a hunter and the Chosen of the Malefic Viper, he decided to add a bit of a dark green hue to his outfit, making him look a lot more hunter-like in Jake’s humble opinion. Definitely closer to nature, even if Jake’s flavor of hunting had little to nothing to do with nature.

Artemis will definitely approve, Jake thought to himself as he made a few more alterations here and there. Towards the end, the two Voidfiber armor pieces were entirely unrecognizable, and Jake felt like he looked pretty damn good. Not that much different from before, sure, but damn good nonetheless. Which wasn’t surprising, seeing as he already looked good before.

“Do I have anything I want to bring back to the Seat?” Jake wondered out loud, also halfway asking Villy, as he knew the snake god was always watching. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t get an answer, and after thinking on the topic for a little while himself, he reckoned there was no need to dally.

The only thing he did before heading back was going to Miranda’s office, where he scared a random clerk shitless by appearing in front of her with two suspicious black suitcases he ordered her to ensure would reach Arnold. With that handled before he could forget, Jake went back to the lodge, where he used his Chief Administrator’s Seal to return.

Activating the ring, magical seals started floating around Jake as a circle appeared beneath him. He had to channel energy into the ring for roughly half a minute before it was fully activated, upon which Jake disappeared from Earth once more.

Instantly, Jake found himself standing back inside the Seat of the Exalted Prima. However, he hadn’t appeared inside the Administrator’s Terrace as he’d initially expected to.

Instead, Jake found himself within what looked like a mix between a control room of a ship and an office. At the center of a dome-shaped room was a large leather pillow that seemed designed for meditation, and lining the walls were countless screens.

There were also several control boards that didn’t actually have any buttons or anything interactable on them. Instead, the metal panels were entirely empty, making the entire look incredibly weird.

At the back of the room was the only entrance and exit in the form of a gateway, not unlike what could be found at the Order of the Malefic Viper. Jake wanted to explore the room a bit more, starting with the bare control panels.

Walking up to one of them, he tried running his hand across it, getting no reaction. Next, he tried to pour in a bit of energy, and once more, there was no response. Finally, Jake tried the simplest thing: he merely sent a mental command outward using Willpower, hoping something would happen.

He had commanded the screens to turn on, and to his pleasant surprise, all of them switched on at once. As they did, some of the control panels also suddenly started having things on them. There still weren’t any physical buttons, but instead, the panels seemed to be big touchscreens of sorts.

Inspecting one of them, he finally gained some instinctive knowledge, giving him a hint as to what he could do. Acting on this knowledge, Jake issued another command as several of the screens stopped turning white and began showing livestreams.

“I wonder how that works,” Jake muttered as he saw what was essentially security footage from within the Administrator’s Terrace. Having access to this function wasn’t super useful, seeing as Jake’s sphere already covered the Terrace, but it did at least make him curious.

Seeing as he could observe the Terrace with his Sphere of Perception, Jake tried to figure out where the security footage was even being recorded from, but no matter how much he looked, he couldn’t find the source. Seemingly, the system just showed him images without any device on the other end to record.

Testing some more, Jake discovered he could “create” cameras pretty much anywhere within the Seat of the Exalted Prima besides the few private rooms in the large space station. Private rooms that Jake could assign to people, which he reckoned Miranda could do for him if it were relevant.

He tried a few more things in the control room, but there really wasn’t much he could do, making him turn his attention to the gateway. Jake assumed it worked like the ones at the Order, where he had to use his Order Token to control it, with the Seal definitely being what was needed here.

Jake was correct, as he merely had to hold his hand up wearing the seal, and the gateway responded. He also felt that he could go pretty much anywhere within the Seat of the Exalted Prima, though there were designated gateway points limiting him a little.

Deciding on a random place, Jake activated the gateway and stepped through, finding himself within a large, empty dome, not unlike the Administrator’s Terrace, though this one was entirely empty and slightly larger. It looked quite fit for duels, though perhaps it was still a little small for that, given the sheer speed and power of B-grades.

Going back through the gateway, Jake checked out a few other places, including one he reckoned could be good for alchemy, before ultimately heading back to Miranda and all the others who were no doubt waiting for his return. At least he thought they were, but upon closer inspecting, they seemed plenty busy discussing among themselves. He considered heading back to the control room to see if the Seat’s surveillance had sound available, but decided against it. No need to be all creepy and spy on them when he could just go there directly.

Passing through one last gateway, Jake stepped back onto the Administrator’s Terrace. He appeared at its edge, having now confirmed how one moved about the Seat of the Exalted Prima. He was sure there was still much to explore, but he would have plenty of time to do all that later. Assuming he didn’t somehow lose control of the World Wonder or something, that is.

Now we just have to wait until everyone else is done voting, and it’s finally time to move on to the real system event. Hopefully.

--

Across the ninety-third universe, Chief Administrators were selected left and right, with many getting the required votes in the first round, but in most places, these three rounds of voting turned into a cruel competition, where Challenges were strategically used to gain votes. More mechanics to the Challenge system were also discovered, like cooldowns on forced Challenges and other such balancing features a galaxy like Jake’s never even had to learn existed.

To many factions, the Chief Administrator title was their way to truly lay claim to a galaxy and prove themselves to be at the top. All the top factions had galaxies where several were present, creating competition even between forces that were usually on good terms.

There were even galaxies where Valhal, the Order, the Holy Church, Risen, United Tribes, Altmar Empire, and other major factions clashed, each with Administrators vying for the position.

In other places, there truly was no competition, not only because a faction had more influence there but also because certain individuals were competing for the Chief Administrator slot. Just as no one dared to compete with Jake, few dared to stand in the way of top scorers from Nevermore or people who had proven themselves particularly outstanding.

In some places, the outcome was expected. The Endless Empire had already established itself as a top competitor, and the appearance of Vesperia in such a case was merely the nail in the coffin.

However, there were other scenarios. Less predictable ones.

It felt almost unfair that smaller factions could have established themselves to compete, only for an old man to suddenly appear as the assistant to an Administrator Candidate no one had seen as serious competition, become Administrator himself, and immediately lay claim to the Chief Administrator title.

And who would possibly dare compete with someone like that? Who would be stupid enough to risk offending the Primordial of Time’s new Chosen?

Fully customizable clothes means Jake has even less of an excuse to wander around in pure combat gear at all times even in normal day-to-day life. However, I think we all know he's still going to. I wonder what galaxy the Sword Saint got, I hope it's one we'll recognize.

Bonktrauma

Thanks for the chapter

Unwillingmainer

And so Jake knows/has caused another Chosen to appear. What's his count at now? 4,5?

Harbby

Ooooh, I love it. Can't wait to see more about our new young chosen.

Arrogant Savant

Many smaller factions are going to be (quietly) cursing earth's residents with how many strong individuals are going to push them out of the running. As a sidenote I wonder if even someone like Carem will be forced into the role.

Cory S.

I’m hoping this ending gives us a Sword Saint POV on Monday. Way to go Sword Saint on the Chosen promotion.

Ben Toasty

Hell yeah we haven’t seen miyamoto in a while

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter. Did Arnold just give Jake a slightly darker black tactical turtleneck?

Endern

First one is Sandy, second is Meira, 3rd Cerulean Demon. If you want to count the Wyrmgod's Chosen, that's +1. I don't think anyone else got Chosen, they are only candidates with Divine Blessings. And let's be frank SS got Chosen by his own merits, the only impact Jake had is that he's Aeon's Chosen not some other god's. Actually do we have confirmation if Vesperia is a Chosen?

Rewdan

SS is a chosen now, I wonder if his upgrade will make him closer in power to Jake. The duel, in the treasure hunt, is still one of my favourite fight scenes.

Rewdan

Thanks Zogarth it’s been a great weeks reading

MrCynical

Oh she absolutely will, if only for the same reason as Jake, Valhal reminding her of the expected loot and title.

Phil Ritter

I mean they both have their speciality and SS is still the one better fit for duels with humanoids even if Jake has gotten better. Another thing is that SS seems to grow in bursts due to his Transcendence and Jake is more linear so most likely they are back to equal with a clash between both being the final fight of this arc once again

Rewdan

I so hope that Jake and The SS have another epic duel? Has Jake removed the scar on his neck which he got from their first fight?

Dhia

jake looking like steve jobs is funny

Christophe H.

Miyamoto is ready to become an heretic chosen too, I guess.

Christophe H.

You forget the first one : Jake himself. Maybe will see Miranda and Jacob soon enough become chosen too. Sylphie, Sky Whale and maybe Jasper may become chosen. We will have an other system event when they all become gods : the primeval origin Chosens tour will open

Summer Coff

Oh, so Jake is finally green. Now you can start making him green on the cover art.

Darshar Griffonmane

Vesperia is not a chosen. I don't think the True Royals work like that since she can actually already command gods of the same lineage as her.

Ra

Let's go Miyamoto! Hope the rest of the Prima Guardian event is not as boring as it has been so far.

turnkey caboose

The previous chapter Arnold told Jake he sent the suitcases with a courier back to earth prior to Jake's arrival. Found it odd that Jake didn't notice the suitcases when he returned to his lodge before going to the moon that he didn't notice them with all his perception. This chapter you say Arnold told Jake to take the suitcases back to earth with him.

Cory S.

You think so?

Wholesome_Patreon

I would guess that Vesperia wouldn't be a Chosen due to the title of True Royal is seen as higher and i think that each True Royal god takes another of their ectognamorphs variant as Chosen.

Lucky Luke

I think a duel between them wouldn't really showcase their strengths. SS is a close range focused fighter with short but strong bursts of power and a penalty afterwards (at least that's how it used to work before his upgrade dunno how it works now) and Jake is a mid to long range focused suprise attack fighter that builds up momentum and uses poison... sure Jake can fight incredibly well close range due to his bloodline but it's not really his path.

smore

Are Jake’s wings morphed into the cloak he always has on the Books' covers?

Loose Goose

He has not and probably never will.

Lucky Luke

I wouldn't say that Jakes power is linear during a fight. Jake stalks his prey, builds up momentum and uses a crazy strong attack with poison that works especially well after gaining insights into their weakness. After that he's weaker compared to the opening attack and towards the end of the fight he gets stronger again because his poison weakens his enemy and he has built up momentum again.

granndfunk

Oh hey, only like 18 books in and we finally match the colour of armor on the cover :)

Benjamin Krumrei

Jake convinced the SS to even consider a Blessing again after his first bad experience. Eventually someone would have probably convinced him of the same, but it might have been quite a while. The SS is pretty stubborn.

Bookreader97

I think it also depends how much SS is willing to sacrifice in levels to win for just a duel. I feel like they would need a reason to go all out. Maybe the simulation?? Wonder if he would still lose levels using trancedent skills within a simulation since those and bloodlines are basically disconnected from the sytem

Kyle

Eh, i doubt the SS will become a heretic chosen, he's the kind of person who gives respect to those who respect him,and disrespect to those who acts disrespectfull towards him

zran

But also he has less of a excuse to look good when going with artemisa on a date

Xander

TFTC :) Suggested edits: "After sitting quietly for a few moments, Jake turned his attention to the two black suitcases Arnold had asked him to bring along back to Earth." Not an edit more a question. Last chapter Jake was returning to earth because Arnold had already couriered the armour there and in todays chapter Arnold asked Jake to bring the suitcases containing the armour back with him from the moon. This seems contradictory. "still weren’t any physical *bodies*, " should be "buttons" "where several were present, and *creation* competition even between forces" should be "that created"

Xander

Treasure hunt 1v1 the rematch :D

Rui

Arnold understands the tactical advantages a turtleneck provides.

definitelynotbrjenness

I would classify Jake as a pinnacle melee fighter with the ability to deliver never before seen amounts of damage from extremely long range attacks. His mid to long range fighting is merely elite level as shown by his spars in the pantheon of life.

And we can’t forget the impact of the SS being near Jake has allowed the SS to talk to Aeon like a Normal person instead of the groveling everyone else does. But other than that, I agree the SS made the effort to be chosen mostly on his own.

Sword saint versus primal hunter round 2 is going to be hyped

Gracie

tftc! I wish Jake had stayed in his track suit.

Jip

Wouldn’t it be funny if sylphie popped into the same terrace as the SS and just REE-d at everyone to get votes

Lemonsqueezy

I noticed it immediately as well, but just figured it would be something fixed by the editor before the book is released. It is a little plot hole though.

Lemonsqueezy

It was stated back when he first got it that he wanted to keep it as a reminder of the fight. A way to honor the SS for his accomplishments.

Lemonsqueezy

The SS stated long ago that while he is close to Jake in power he will never truly surpass him. Jake's bloodline is a cheat when it comes to what the system tries to give him. If the choices do not appease the bloodline the bloodline forces it to change. No one, except maybe Villy, knows this but it is what makes Jake in a league of his own when it comes to people in his same grade and level, even those that greatly surpass him in level but not grade. SS can fight very strong opponents, but not nearly at the level that Jake can. We saw it earlier on Venus when the system made it known that he was stronger than all the B-Grades he escorted out of the boundary. Two of which are hinted at being in some way the most powerful B-Grades in their respective factions.

Lemonsqueezy

It is more of the case of needing the title to be competitive with the others from her universe. Without the Chief Admin title she loses out on a lot of stats and perks. She is absolutely going to hate it, like Jake, but knows she needs to control at least one.

Lemonsqueezy

Vesperia is a reincarnation of her predecessor. She isn't really a chosen per say, she will eventually (and quickly) reach her former power which I think is at least God-Like. However, you could argue that Jake is the one that caused of her reincarnation, and in someway it would count. As for others, you have SS, Sandy, Meira, Demon Prince of the Fourth Hell, Silverstorm (Wyrmgod's chosen) is a maybe, Jake did influence the guy to become more powerful, but I believe the guy was a chosen before meeting Jake. Eron is another one, but I believe he also achieved his blessing without the help of Jake.

Azayrian105

After all this time Jake has finally gotten his signature green look.

Jimbo

Yes, we know you were also a Chief Administrator, they just havent' shown it yet

Alex Goerke

Agree. Feel a simple fix would just have it say "to the two black suitcases Arnold had asked be brought to his lodge back on Earth." Or could play into how Jake apparently missed them with his insane perception when he initially teleported back to Earth. In the realm of his attention shifted to the two black void suitcases sitting just off to the side of his door where the courier Arnold had tasked with bringing them back to Earth had left them. The hint about the void suitcases would explain why without knowing they were at his lodging he didnt immediately see the void objects. Food for thought but agree with Xander that the current writing leaves questions about the suitcases

John Durrett

There is a rumor going around that if you closely inspect the covers, you can discover many secrets from the future of this series revealed. I won't post any of the ones I found in order to prevent spoilers. IYKYK

Phil Ritter

I never meant Jake’s Power during a fight is linear but his general power progression. He never had those massive spikes in power during the books unlike the SS who was inferior to Jake then got a massive power spike due to transcendence and new patron and fell behind again during Nevermore and after only to now have another massive power boost due to transcendence upgrade. Jake is just grinding for power continuesly and SS grows with realisations and „enlightenment“. Also I never said SS is a good matchup for Jake but then again the multiverse isn’t fair and Jake has to defy the odds if he ever wants to come close to being the strongest. We know Jake doesn’t really have any skills to force a ranged fight so it will be most likely on the SS terms. Either way we can only speculate and it will be interesting to see Jake and SS compare themselves to other geniuses like the new Demon King and Golden Dragon Lady not to mention my favourite Nevermore attendee the sloth that didn’t give a fuck at the afterparty

kingbobthe5th

Imagine if as soon as Jake gets to A grade in this series we get initiated

There's a few inconsistencies. You have Jake putting on the new armor twice. And I thought in the last chapter Arnold said that he sent a carrier ahead with it and then you had Jake having brought the briefcases with him.

I'm probably a few chaps behind on DoTF RR...but just came across this gem: The primordial pool reaches into the depths of ones existence and awakens slumbering bloodlines ... the most powerful constitutions in their genealogical history ... Brinksy should have called that one the primal pool.

definitelynotbrjenness

Oh... I see it now ... I can't remember how it's explained, not really my thing... but in dotf the supremacies rise and recreate the Dao or some cultivationy bs. Recreating the system. DoTF is a prequel to Primal Hunter. Zogarth is the first defier confirmed. He just has multiple personalities. One studies Buddhist history and loves cultivation. The other is much cooler and likes archery. Zak/arcaz hidden in plain sight.

Wild conspiracy theories. So you think Zog has time to write 1 chapter each in two separate storylines. I just recently finished listening to the DotF audiobooks. But I did see some similarities in the beginning and Zog being inspired by it. Especially the hunter path that Zac ignored. I feel like I've to skip whole swaths of texts while reading dotf

UNKNOWN

He should put on a flamingo outfit and say nothing about it.

Shandlar

I can't imagine SS spending levels just to spar with Jake properly at this point. He did it last time because he thought his clan was at risk unless he won the treasure hunt. Now hes aligned his clan with the vampires and therefore the order, ensuring their future firmly. Theres no reason for him and Jake to fight. Jake's success is his success. His personality doesnt include an ego requiring him to prove to himself or others that hes the best in all things.

definitelynotbrjenness

I feel jake really missed out on a chance to mess with people when he was in the control room.

Kuniku778

Rematch? Are we getting that rematch?

Xerecs

I kind of wonder if it will be something like the Saint wants to take on the monk and leave the dragon for Jake but Jake points out that he already defeated a dragon while in C grade so it wouldn't be much of a challenge for him. So the Saint lets Jake take on the monk while he fights the Dragon girl i forget her name. In other words I don't think they will fight each other they each might just have there own big fights at the same time.

R Mac

Yeah Zac is valdemar

Kimesh

I would not mind Jake really owning this event. He struggeled enough in the nearer past to have earned demolishing his peers. Let him struggle a bit, but beat them all in the end. Looking forward to what will really happen and how the Event is designed

Wasn’t Vilastromez supposed to give Jake that scale from Yip of Yore for his palate after he upgraded it?

Ra

I do like parts of the cultivation imagery because I can draw parallels in my life. But there's a lot of elements to get through. I also skip some details of fights and banter.

DefinitelyNotMinaga

Jake vs SS 2.0 is something even the 1st Sage likely has popcorn and soda ready for. I want to bet on the SS beating the bloodline cheater but Vilas would definitely make me pay him for that bet and well.... this me is a bit cheap. >>.>>
