Considering for a moment how to announce his presence, Jake had a few options. He could start off with a stealth attack on either the Archfiend or Behemoth, beginning the fight with a massive advantage. The idea didn’t really tickle his fancy, though, and it would honestly feel a little impolite to introduce himself that way.

Plus, and this was perhaps more important, he feared that a big display of power could make one or both sides decide that retreat was their best option. Not even getting the chance to spar with those two top-tier B-grades would be such a waste.

That’s why Jake ultimately decided to simply reveal himself. That way, maybe they even thought Jake wasn’t confident in facing them both. Sure, just based on his reputation, even arrogant and powerful B-grades would likely assume Jake was slightly stronger than themselves, so it could make sense in their heads that he didn’t believe he could take on two at once.

Who knows, maybe he could even make his dream come true and have the two team up?

While floating in the air, not too far away and not too close, Jake deactivated Unseen Hunter, and as he did, also flared his presence to really make sure they knew of his arrival. He probably didn’t even need to do the last part, as the second his stealth skill was gone, two presences locked in on him, the Archfiend and Behemoth instantly aware of his appearance.

Jake used his Sphere of Perception to observe their expressions as they definitely realized who he was. The Archfiend frowned, and to Jake’s delight, the Behemoth looked surprised for a moment before turning its head with interest towards him, a hint of challenge in its gaze.

Oh yeah, the Behemoth was definitely up for fighting.

William also noticed Jake when he revealed himself, and he quickly reached out, showing he was capable of communicating telepathically over quite a distance.

“You’re here. Things are looking pretty bad on our end, with Holstred doing his best to hold the line. I want to get involved, but I fear that if I do, the Behemoth and Archfiend will also step forward, turning this situation far more volatile,” William explained what Jake had already surmised. The two powerful B-grades definitely knew William was the strongest, and while they seemed more wary of one another, if the human suddenly started slaughtering beastkin and demons, they would have to get involved.

“I’ll take things from here,” Jake answered, using the telepathic link. “No need for you to get involved. In fact, I’m telling you not to get involved. Instead, retreat with the survivors and regroup at the Territory Beacon where Miranda is waiting. Ah, but wait till you get a chance to do so. Hopefully, the situation will soon become a lot more exciting, making everyone forget all about you.”

Jake’s appearance had also stopped all the other fighting, as his sudden presence falling upon the battlefield had rightfully caused quite a reaction. The three forces all retreated and regrouped, with those from the Milky Way definitely looking the worst after the skirmish. Holstred was heavily injured, his armor broken in most places, and he was breathing heavily, yet never lowering his blade as he stood ready should anyone dare try to attack them again. Meanwhile, the vice-leaders of the other two factions were a lot better off, also having more than twice the B-grades as Jake’s Territory.

We really need to recruit some more B-grades, Jake thought, but quickly dismissed such considerations as he refocused on the two powerful B-grades beneath. He had still been flying closer during all this time, and soon stopped, only a dozen or so kilometers from the Archfiend and Behemoth, with the Behemoth flying further up in the air and the Archfiend closer to Jake’s eye level.

“It appears I’m intruding,” Jake said, infusing his voice with energy to ensure everyone could hear him.

The Archfiend and Behemoth shared a quick look before the demon responded. “I was not aware there were individuals from your Territory present, Chosen of the Malefic One. We did not come here to fight them in the first place, but have been in a prolonged conflict with the United Tribes, and believed your subordinates were allies of the beastkin.”

Lots of excuses, which did make Jake fear the Archfiend wanted to avoid a fight. Meanwhile, the Behemoth remained quiet, merely observing their exchange. The demon wasn’t trying to stand up for the United Tribes either, but only wanted to communicate that the demon side hadn’t specifically aimed for the Milky Way Territory.

Jake wasn’t sure if he believed that story, though. It was plausible, sure, but shouldn’t they have confirmed that was the case if they truly only wanted to fight the United Tribes and their allies?

“Why make excuses?” Jake asked in a calm voice. “This phase of the event is all about eliminating other Territories. Nothing wrong with fighting. I just figured that there was space for one more participant.”

He did not hide his willingness to fight in the slightest, wondering what kind of reaction these two top-tier creatures would show. The Behemoth seemed interested in Jake, but didn’t outright engage in conversation. Meanwhile, the Archfiend seemed reluctant to get involved while being way more communicative.

“Your appearance means that all three sides have individuals making discussions of a truce and perhaps even a temporary alliance relevant,” the Archfiend tried to push for an outcome to this confrontation. One that Jake really wasn’t a fan of.

“I’m not so sure I see the relevancy,” Jake countered, crossing his arms, really playing into acting like the arrogant Chosen he truthfully was. “I know I’m qualified, but are the two of you?”

He released a bit more of his aura, seeing how the two would react. The Archfiend frowned a little more, considering his response. In the meantime, the Behemoth seemed to finally get involved as it looked down at Jake and narrowed its gaze.

“You ask if I’m qualified? Odd, I was starting to question what all the warnings were about regarding you. I’m aware you have a wondrous ability as the Harbinger of Primeval Origins, making you a potential asset to the United Tribes, but do not overestimate yourself more than you should,” the Behemoth said, communicating two things at once.

Firstly, the B-grade found Jake’s attitude distasteful. Secondly, that she was a female Behemoth. Yeah, there really weren’t any biological markers to tell the difference, and they were equally bulky whether they were male or female. Not that the monster’s sex had any effect on what would come next.

“The line between arrogance and confidence is a thin one, and it only becomes arrogance if you cannot back up your words,” Jake countered, finding her attitude at least a little refreshing.

“And you believe you have the power to act as you do... fitting for the Chosen of the Malefic One, I suppose. I’ve heard much about the exploits following his return after my hibernation,” the Behemoth said, the large monster continuing to look down at him. “However, do not let that make you think you are invincible. Perhaps you are among your peers... but neither of us is your peer.”

As the Behemoth said this, she unleashed her own aura, while also stopping whatever she’d used to hide her true status. A faintly divine element entered her presence as she gave off an aura that was unmistakably that of a Chosen, prompting Jake to use Identify yet again.

[Jagged Edge Behemoth – lvl 358 – True Blessing of the Thousand-Edge Empress]

At the same time, the Archfiend let out a sigh as he also stopped holding back, unleashing what he had been hiding. He, too, was a lot more powerful than he’d initially let on, and to Jake’s surprise, he wasn’t just dealing with one Chosen.

[Vermillion Archfiend – lvl 361 – True Blessing of the Infernal Globe Devil]

What’s more, Jake also took note of what the Behemoth had said about them not being his peers. While most of the people Jake usually fought with were other talents who’d evolved alongside him and had even competed against him in Nevermore, that didn’t mean these were the only powerful entities in the multiverse.

There were people who’d been in B-grade for thousands upon thousands of years already, having reached the grade before Jake’s universe was even integrated. Many peak C-grades had also evolved after the integration and spent years consolidating their strength without gaining many levels.

From the sound of it, the Behemoth had been in some kind of hibernation, which lent credence to the theory that this was not a young B-grade he was dealing with. Hibernation skills were effectively an evolved version of the meditation skill, and they tended to last a very long time. Ten thousand years would be considered a short hibernation period for a B-grade, and they could go on for so much longer.

During hibernation, they did as most others did while in meditation: they pondered their skills, mentality, concepts, and other qualitative aspects of their Path. Monsters also grew a little, but hibernation rarely included the active absorption and refinement of energy.

In summary, Jake believed he could very well be facing a B-grade that truly couldn’t be considered his peer, and the longer she’d been alive, the stronger she likely was. It also appeared that the Archfiend was somewhat similar, being quite an old monster himself.

Considering this, how could he not get excited?

Jake had complained a lot for a long time about not encountering any foes worth fighting, and now, he’d suddenly run into two Chosen top-tier monsters that were likely far more experienced and older than himself, with one of them even being a Behemoth.

By now, he’d also noticed that the many demons and beastkin had retreated a fair distance away, taking advantage of the three strongest people present talking. William and Holstred were also pretty far away now, and it didn’t look like anyone would dare chase another faction at this critical juncture.

Seeing everyone send their weaker comrades packing made it clear that all three of them were ready should a fight break out. With a smile, Jake regarded the two B-grades.

“We’re all three Chosen, huh? And perhaps you’re right. You two might not be my peers, and have probably been B-grades for longer than I have been alive... but that’s just all the more reason for me to learn from you,” Jake said, not trying to hide his intent to start a fight in the slightest.

The Archfiend threw Jake another glance before sighing. “Very well... let’s see what the Chosen of the Malefic One is capable of.”

Without any warning, a pillar of flames ascended from below Jake, having been summoned so fast that Jake barely had time to react. He stepped down at the very last second, teleporting out of the way as the torrent of flames burned everything behind him.

He didn’t even get the time to speak or do anything else as more magic circles appeared all around him, shooting out beams of flames as if they were portals connected to some infernal realm. Jake dodged between them all, quickly taking out his bow as he prepared to launch a few counterattacks.

However, before he could nock an arrow, an extreme sense of danger approached from above. As a fist the size of a large building descended upon him, Jake kicked to the side as his foot exploded with arcane energy, launching him between two beams of flames as he got out of the way of the Behemoth’s attack.

Spinning magic circles started flying all around Jake, shifting patterns as they released a hail of small fire bullets, and at the same time, the Behemoth continued giving chase, moving incredibly quickly despite her large form.

From these first moments of the fight, it was clear that the Behemoth and Archfiend had reached some agreement, showing that despite their previous talk about Jake being too arrogant, they still very much took him seriously. They likely both suspected he was stronger than either of them individually, leading them to conclude that they should team up to take him out.

Such an outcome... it really was the best thing that could have happened, wasn’t it?

A small grin appeared on Jake’s face as he summoned his wings to block the hail of fire bullets, turning toward the swiping claw of the Behemoth. He knew that taking it head-on would end very badly for him, as, despite Jake having pretty good stats due to all his titles, when it came to sheer physical prowess, he did not stand even the shadow of a chance against a Behemoth of this level.

That’s why he didn’t even try to block, but only dodged as he teleported upwards, finally also getting the chance to shoot out a few arrows of his own. Two went towards the Archfiend, who managed to summon barriers to block them, while the three he sent toward the Behemoth all hit their target, the beast simply too massive to dodge.

His arrows sank into the Behemoth’s hide, failing to fully penetrate it after also getting through the monster’s thick hair. Seeing his arrows stuck inside the thick hide, he gave a mental command to make all three explode, his attack having some effect as the hide was noticeably damaged.

For a few moments, anyway. Quickly, the Behemoth’s small wounds started healing, showing another trait of these monsters: their incredible regeneration. They could easily regrow limbs in minutes, heal minor wounds in seconds, and anything short of removing their heads or simply making them run out of energy would fail to stop them.

Anything less, and Jake would have been disappointed. Besides, despite his arrows seemingly failing to do any meaningful damage, that wasn’t quite the case. He was the Chosen of the Malefic Viper, after all.

A powerful hemotoxin had made its way into the Behemoth’s body, making her consume more resources when healing her wounds, and even slowing down her regeneration a little. Three arrows hadn’t delivered a dose that would have much effect, but it was a start, and given the sheer size of his opponent, he reckoned she would have a very hard time avoiding his toxins accumulating.

The Archfiend was a lot more annoying to deal with, though. Jake attacked both his opponents interchangeably, and while the Behemoth dodged or blocked a few attacks, most hit their target, with her relying on her sheer bodily might to ignore the damage. Meanwhile, the Archfiend hadn’t been hit once as he teleported around, summoned barriers, and conjured constant orbs of fire that could seemingly operate entirely on their own to cast spells. These spells were all on the weaker side, but there were a lot of them, and when a fire orb sacrificed itself, it could release a single powerful attack that Jake had to actually dodge.

One opponent was an incredibly skilled caster, and the other stood at the peak of physical combat. While they likely couldn’t work very well together, they were a near-perfect combination. What’s more, neither of them had gotten serious yet, but were just probing Jake to see what he was capable of.

Which was fair enough, because Jake was currently doing the exact same thing, as he also looked forward to seeing what the two could do if they got serious. Especially the Behemoth, as while the Archfiend was holding back somewhat, he knew that the Behemoth had barely even started fighting.

This is going to be a fun fight to read about i can already tell. Thanks for the chapter

Remember the First Sage! It was his only wish, to be remembered.

djthomp

A Chosen Archfiend and a Chosen Behemoth, even better.

Daniel Brian

Felt like a short chapter, but damn, I'm excited to see Jake fight people close to his level!!

yourstruly

I do wonder just how much fun Sylphie is having, terrorizing and plunging all territories she comes across. Little featherball of death.

Ra

After a long time it has gotten exciting again!

Morazain

Like the brew so far?

DeAndrea H

Ooh! Battle of the Chosen. I’m so here for it! TFTC!

I had not even thought of old B grades being eligible. Makes sense. Quite a few stories have characters focusing on skills before leveling as a path to power. Better skills, better opponents, better records. Flattens difficulty curve of leveling in each grade. I'll even fully accept two relatively old B grades being chosen because I like the trope.

Xander

TFTC :) Suggested edits: " that a big display of power immediately could" feels like this should be "an immediate, big display of power" " hence why he didn’t start out immediately attacking." this whole bit seems redundant since you just said that Jake revealed himself without attacking unless im missing something. "maybe he could even make *such* a dream come true" the "such" seems odd here. "while *nevertheless never* lowering his blade." clunky wording. perhaps "nevertheless still holding his blade ready." instead. "thousands of years *already*, having *already* reached the grade before Jake’s universe " repetitive. Ditch either.

Rewdan

This fight is going to be crazy, will Jake have to pull on his bloodline to eke out victory?

Rewdan

This fight is exciting already!!!! Friday’s cliffhanger is going to be very excruciating 😣 Thanks Zogarth I’m loving the whole series

Tomer Yud

good luck to the demon and behemoth lol. I wonder if Jake will die in this simulation or not

CocoaBleu

I feel like this will be a few days worth of fighting, and I’m here for IT and the future alliance with the demons.

Christopher

I'm confused how they are supposed to be B grades of such age. I thought the 93rd universe was not open to non-native B grades yet.

Nick O'Gara

I though that this was an event for the 93rd universe. Old B grades would still be above the system cap to get into the new universe. Maybe I missed something?

DeAndrea H

Knowing that humans are historically considered weak in the multiverse, I kinda want Jake to use Fangs of Man. Valdemar would shed a tear in pride!

Rewdan

Will Jake have to resort to using his bloodline / Jake Juice to beat these two

Rewdan

I can’t see that happening but I do think he’s going to have to resort to using his primal energy

Rewdan

I’m thinking that this fight is going to be up there with the Panther and that orange guy.

Jack

I knew B-Grade would be when we meet more chosen at Jake's level. When you think in C-Grade and below, we've only met 7 chosen, excluding Jake, and 1 of those was an A-Grade, and in the last few chapters, we've met 3 Chosen at B-Grade, then you have to include the Sword Saint, who has just become Aeon's Chosen.

Sylphie

See you tomorrow!

definitelynotbrjenness

Also noted. Behemoth is a creature type not descriptor apparently. I didn't think of that yesterday. Should have at least considered it with the whole "clearly established path to becoming a dragon..." part.

definitelynotbrjenness

Jake's speed and poison offsets the advantage of caster tank combo. Zog could give Jake an L, but I don't expect it. I expect both old heads to see the writing on the wall once they go all out. Zog can take it in several directions from there, but Jake could use more b grades on his side.

Xerecs

It's just like Nevermore. Those outside the 93rd universe could get in by being brought in by someone from the 93rd. Only this time they had to pass the first trial to get into this one. Also both of them are still early b grade.

Bunny

Tftc

definitelynotbrjenness

Jake barely winning or slightly losing but gaining respect of the two who agree to join him is a possibility. However, I'm leaning to the old farts realizing Jake's better and his speed and poison making the eventual outcome predetermined.

Jordan Rogers

Level cap I believe, not necessarily age?

Jordan Rogers

Over time it’s went up incrementally and it’s been atleast five more years since that began

definitelynotbrjenness

I expect him to die a few times in this world, but maybe not until after the competition is over. Jake will agree to fights he is at a disadvantage in. No bow, no poison etc... This assumes the world is a permanent feature of the wonder.

Dhia

i would love for jake and sword saint to fight it out again, that last match was so close, we need that rematch so much rn. plus, i want jake to die at least once in the simulation. like what if a bunch of factions decided to deal with the milky way fast and had their main guys all jump him together. and for the next 60 days in the event and chapter screen time is Miranda and Lillian buying time for Jake to return. that would be so awesome to watch, just and so tense like, what are they gonna lose during this time, and if jake makes it back in time how is he gonna turn things around

Dhia

F to C grade like a trial period for the gods to see if it’s worth to invest further into their blessed, that’s why B grade should have many more Chosen.

Frenzy

This is incorrect. The Seat of the Exalted Prima exists only within the 93rd Universe. From Zogarth on Discord: "The only requirement for this event is for the Administrator bringing you to the Administrator test to be at or above your own level. With the Administrator originally having to be from the new universe." This means the Administrator can invite people from outside the 93rd to partipate.

definitelynotbrjenness

Event had a level limit in b grade. I think 93rdbis open to lower level b grades. It goes up 3 or 4 per year, but I ain't doing the research to figure out where that limit is

Frenzy

It was 1 level per 100 days starting at 300 going until 350. Thats a total of 5000 days or ~13.5 Years. Of this we know at least 9.5 Years have passed. If you need a refresh on the Timeline there is a Timeline page on The Primal Hunter Wiki

definitelynotbrjenness

That would also parallel the yip of yore saga with the order being pushed back before showing true power.

Nathan Holliday

I like seeing Jake dunk on people but this is the first proper fight in B-grade and he is so exited because they may pose an actual challenge. I still think he is easily more powerful but working together they will actually make him have to try and possibly even push him. What fun. Still there is no way they got the same level of bull shit as the last chosen he faced.

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

Noah

I also really want to see Jake use his last ditch effort with his sphere again, so it would be great if he was forced into a corner and had to use that, and then either got killed during his recovery period or otherwise just chose to step out of the simulation to recover for a bit

Nathan Holliday

No the world of the exalted Prima is a 93rd exclusive. And you are correct it isn’t open to non native B-grades yet but the level cap for non native has reached low tear B-grade. It doesn’t matter how old they are it matters what level they are. The universe is slowly opening in a way that keeps the highest level to enter the new universe around that of the peak generation of said new universe.

Joseph

Glad this chapter had some combat! The last one felt like filler.

Xander

Dude, do you have even the smallest concept of how a book works? Filler only really applies to short seasons of TV shows where they dont have enough story to fill out a whole season or the budget to do crazy things in all the episodes so they have a quiet episode to keep costs down. A book has to have chapters where the action slows down and more explaination occurs in order to set up the action in the later chapters.

Nathan Holliday

Also I want to point out that while they are not his peers Jake is quite literally possibly the most powerful B-grade of his level ever because of the simple fact that he has gotten the best possible title in everything since the integration! Wonder how many they got. Do they even have 30% of the titles he has. Compared to the rest of the multiverse they may be nearly unapproachable in power but compared to Jake they should really only be able to push him because they work together. It’s not like they are super well known pinnacle figures in their own right.

Xander

If he has to resort to that at this point hes fuuuuucked when it gets down to the endgame.

Fyrtue

I did think it was odd yesterday that neither of these two were blessed. Glad to see it was just some kind of shielding but really...you'd think the guy in this event with more perception than anybody else could see through something like that.

Fyrtue

Even then it surprises me that beings are willing to do stop for a bit at the start of a grade. Villy made a point a while ago that hitting a new grade grants 'momentum' which allows for more rapid growth.

Michael mann

Doubtful. I think one will take the opportunity to weaken the other so Jake will expand a lot of resources to take them out. Then try to take down Jake.

BumAssBumAss

Seems the archfiend is reluctant because of Jake's connection to the cerulean demon lord

Fdrugc

Tftc was it a 3 way fight or was the Archdemon outright lying?

Michael mann

This is what I was hoping for, and the true value of this Station. No way would the respective factions allow their Chosen to just happen across each other to fight it out. The run of losing that investment would be waaaaaay too high. In the simulation, the few true geniuses can challenge one another and grow without many of the risks. I imagine once this thing is full unlocked and available, SGrades and even Gods could throw down for the fun of it

Darshar Griffonmane

And it's not even Jake's birthday and they keep giving him such gifts. This should be an interesting fight cause a pure physical class and what looks like a mostly mage class should give Jake a solid challenge. Fun fight! tyftc!

definitelynotbrjenness

I have a feeling that filler feelers are fellers that only find fun in fanrasy while feeling the fine rush of dopamine from fight scenes while finding the fiction falling flat when forced to face fractions of the fable facilitating or setting the foundation to further frame the foibles for future features of the following fields of findings.

NoctisMi

If those B-grades are below the level of what the system allows they are allowed to participate. If they go to another galaxy and take the chief administration position there.

IntenseSushi

Tftc I’m torn between wanting to see Jake stomp them and wanting to see him get humbled

Siethrobo

It is a 3 way fight, however Jake's the strongest, so he'll be the primary target of the other two. But it's not like the Behemoth and Archdemon are safe from each-other.

Siethrobo

I think he only dies if a top tier opponent gets the jump on him immediately after a tough fight. Or Sylphie sneak attack.

David

@zog love a good fight chapter! This part seems clunky tho.... ""and all three exploded, having some effect as the hide was heavily damaged. For a few moments, anyway. Quickly, the Behemoth’s small wounds started healing"" On the one hand you say the hide is heavily damaged, on the other they are small wounds. Those seem kind of contradictory and it reads kind of weird. To me at least

Loose Goose

Why would you want Jake to be humbled by 2 side characters with barely a chapter of intro?

Spenser Williams

Guessing they have something equivalent to Jake's Shroud skill, which I doubt even he can pierce, similar to how even A grades couldn't pierce his when he first went to the Order.

Spenser Williams

I want to see him use it again too, but it does seem a bit early to show that card to the rest of the universe. Right now almost no one even knows that exists, and it seems smarter for him to wait until he's stronger to reveal something that huge. I'm really curious what the recovery period will look like now that he's B grade and has more Primeval Origin Energy to throw around.

Spenser Williams

Yeah, it is a bit odd to me that old B grades would be Chosen...Them being old and still early B grade seems to mean they've somewhat stalled in their progression, so why were they given True Blessings if they've been stalled for hundreds of years?

Jason Connors

I thought this was a 93rd universe only event? How are there creatures that are far older then Jake? Did I miss that other universes could send people to this event?

Spenser Williams

Yeah, I'm hoping this is partly a recruitment drive lol. I think they'll battle and Jake will do well, giving them the opportunity to become vassals. He mentioned in this chapter that they need more B grades, so I think this could be a good opportunity. It seems to early for Jake to have a huge struggle, with the other monsters that have been teased for him to fight in this event. He can't be everywhere at once, and they will truly have to get some powerful vassals to actually maintain their territory sooner rather than later, as communicated by the travel time just to get across part of it last chapter.

Zizawah

other universes can send people to join other galaxies and insert themselves as "admin candidates" like William and the frost wyvern who tagged along with Miranda. Then when they get to the event, they take over from someone like Miranda. :)

SR

Chapter 1288. Level cap is 375, with the other universes able to bring in ringers up to that level.

SR

Chapter 1288. Level cap is 375, with the other universes able to bring in ringers up to that level, as long as the ringer being brought in is equal or below the level of the 93rd universe admin.

Indevan Jones

They could become administrator candidates if they worked with a 93rd person in the previous mini event to get more administrators.

Noah Mclelland

I can't remember the level that others can enter the universe, but maybe if they join a native during the administration portion they could get that title as well and join the main event.

Biggy smalls

Yep. You could join the event as administrators of a 93rd galaxy so long as you are below level 375. I believe the chief administrator would have to allow it.

Biggy smalls

They didn’t stall. That’s just how their races work. It’s a marathon not a sprint to the top. These two are clearly very impressive for their species. Too bad Jake is the most busted B grade at his level possibly ever.

Biggy smalls

Maybe he needs to kill them first and tell them to join the cause before they croak? I don’t see either of these two or Jake stopping before death.

Alos

This felt like a tongue twister, but I agree.

SR

For those people wondering about the inclusion of the Archfiend and Behemoth… Chapter 1288 establishes that other universe B grades can join the event. Their participation is capped at level 375 or being the level of the 93rd universe administrator who is bringing them in (whichever is lower). So there’s the potential that a lot of factions have brought in older B grade ringers to this event.

Alos

I'm just glad that today is Wednesday so the start of the fight is not a massive cliff. Although I have a feeling that the outcome of this won't be until next week.

Thenais

Jake trolling his enemies, avoiding them following 🎵 cuban pete from the mask 😂

Amir Spartacus Jalilian-Nosraty

I think it is more of a scaling thing. While the hide could be heavily damaged, it doesn’t explicitly say how massive the damage was. Remember, she is a behemoth who is about 500 meters tall. She is massive. Something that might look big to Jake, could potentially just be small for the behemoth. And for example, I could say that my skin was burnt with a powerful acid, but if the surface area of that burn was around a speck, then comparably, it wasn’t that massive to me.

Amir Spartacus Jalilian-Nosraty

And to be quite fair, when was the last time he actually upgraded the identity skill? I honestly can’t recall. It feels to me that it has been a very good while. Maybe back when he was in d grade?

Amir Spartacus Jalilian-Nosraty

I think you’re right, he really does use a lot of words that start with the letter f. I just counted, he uses 30 words that start with the letter f. And there are around 60 words. I counted 57, so, by my calculations, he actually has more words that start with the letter f than not. That’s pretty funny

Nathan Holliday

Yes. Dude really deluded himself into a semi-immortal being of faith after he was pretty much dead just to keep running it with Jake. Jake had to transcend to skills already relying on the concept of time just to buy himself the extra few moments to completely shatter the man’s soul just to finish the fucker off. Ain’t no way these two are that tuff!

Clint

Definitely expecting to see Jake whittle down the behemoth with accumulated toxins only to have the Archfiend steal the kill from him.

Nathan Holliday

Oh yes. This is going to be one of the most taught after world wonders in history. A place where the most powerful beings in the multiverse can come to truly fight and push one another without the risk of true death. Even if xp is nonexistent in the realm the ability to learn and grow just in combat versus each other is reward enough.

Julia Niles

I wish for a mid mid fight power up

Hussein Zenki

bro had to have watched jjk recently to basically implent a 3 way domain clash 🔥

Jeff McCulley

I suspect these two are about to discover that they are, indeed, not Jake’s peers.

definitelynotbrjenness

thank you kind sir, this has been a recurring minor thorn in my side the last couple weeks with occasional people confidently insisting only people from the 93rd could participate.

definitelynotbrjenness

tldr: "FILLER!" comments annoy me slightly because without what is often referred to as filler, books become merely lists fabulously factual findings from your figuring

definitelynotbrjenness

I like not knowing for sure what will happen. Zog is pretty good at finding alternatives to what I expect.

definitelynotbrjenness

serious question: will zog ever create a Friday cliff so heinous that he releases a Saturday chapter because he feels bad?

Loose Goose

He deserves to be arrogant. He has all the bullshit main character energy anyone can have. He’s written to be unbeatable at his own level.

DaClementine

This feels kinda like plot armor. Jake's strong but take on two enemies that have thousands of years of experience at the same time. Idk love Jake but that's a little unbelievable

Sugoi

Nah, he’ll give us a week full of pov swaps until the following Monday to pick up from that heinous Friday cliff.

Quantity vs quality. Few peeps spend as much time fighting and improving themselves as Jake, SS, Carmen. Jake has a lot of titles that they don't have. They are a good pair to fight him (tank and caster), but jake's poison and speed are a pretty good counter. Zog might have jake lose/draw or all three join together to face a massive army of holy rollers that appear. Jake may be forced to escape and then the two show up near beacon and ask to ally. william may reappear to save the day. Vespy or sandy or jasper might appear. Demon might be planning to join jake, but is fearful of behemoth being stronger than jake. lots of non-plot armor ways this can go.

David

I see what you're saying. And I would agree if he didn't say the hide was heavily damaged. That phrase suggests a degree of damage beyond a small wound. To take your analogy, to be hit with a powerful acid but over a very small amount of skin I would not use the phrase you were heavily damaged

Nano

They gotta know that already after agreeing to basically jump him

Jeff McCulley

No, they think they’re teaching an upstart a lesson.

SR

Due to the titles Jake has, he definitely has superior stats when compared to the Archfiend and the Behemoth. Whether their longer lived experience is enough to bridge the stat gap remains to be seen. Narratively, a win, draw, or loss are all within the realm of reasonable possibility based on the match-ups.

Amir Spartacus Jalilian-Nosraty

That’s fair, I guess if it was only over a small area, then that might be the case. Could you give me an example of what you think heavily damaged would mean to the behemoth?

JP

Tftc

Amir Spartacus Jalilian-Nosraty

For sure. Now, I doubt that you meant this, but I am pretty sure either of those beings could probably pummel hakan, but that’s more than obvious. Yet again, just something that I was thinking. But who knows? They could make him go and push pretty hard. Especially that behemoth. I’m honestly quite excited for it.

Clint

The behemoth is a great matchup for Jake — Jake will dodge every attack and slowly build up toxins to wear her down. The archfiend is a bit of a mystery, but Jake is the top scorer of Nevermore, the chosen of a Primordial, and the holder of an insanely overpowered bloodline on top of all his titles. He’s supposed to be OP most of the time. The A-grades of Venus were a nice wake up call. The weird hidden god conspiracy that nearly kidnapped him on the way back from the Life pantheon is a huge challenge. Not a couple of random B-grade top-thousand types. This is a great fight to learn from, but not a real threat to knock him out of contention for the event.

DeAndrea H

Of course it’s plot armor. He’s the main character in a power fantasy novel. Zog said on discord that Jake will usually win but the story is more about the how. We have seen him have to retreat or be rescued a handful of times throughout the series but expecting him to crash and burn on the big stage is kind of antithetical to the tone of the series.

DeAndrea H

As Villy said, all of the gods are arrogant. It’s a required trait in anyone who is destined to go all the way. Even the humble Primordials believe themselves superior in all the ways that matter.

DeAndrea H

All gas no brakes! 😂

DeAndrea H

Honestly, it only feels like filler bc you’re reading it a chapter or a two at a time. If you go back and re-read once the arc is done, it feels more like a well developed arc that advances multiple points at once. I know I felt like Pantheon of life was an absolute drag when I was reading it bc I just wanted the B-grade and I wanted it now. Same with Nevermore that felt never ending but those two books are now my favorite to re-listen to on Audible.

RonGAR

Jake was 'cruising for a bruising' and is about to get it! I think he is about to take some licks.

Nathan

Hmm a behemoth… That sounds super cool and like something Jake should help create. Maybe even help the Sky Whale evolve. He does need to help a B grade evolve into A grade like he did with Jasper…

DeAndrea H

Yes, but it’s on the list AFTER the True Dragon he said he wanted to create with the hearts of Yrel and Ell’Hakan.

Edoc

I've always been appreciative of the long fights but I have a feeling this is going to be one and now that I sit here waiting for new Chappy every day like a lil Primal fiend it's lowk painful to think it'll probably take a week for one of these two to get seriously injured lol. Not salty tho that's just how it is dont want Big Zoggie getting overworked. :) TYFTC

Edoc

Honestly doubt that Zog would make these two allies I feel like having two more Chosen that can even come close to Jakes level makes the entire event a steamroll until big Eastbound comes knocking

Edoc

Only the intervention of the Viper himself could prompt such phenomena lol

SmokeJam

Just had a quick thought: if those two are actually that old, their gods are extreme outliers. It was said so many times that gods usually don't even consider grades below a and s for Chosen material. People always act as if Jake and the Viper are unique trend setters, but now we got introduced to two b grades who both are Chosen for quite a while already. It feels way to convenient to conjure up decent enemies for Jake this way...

SmokeJam

I'm more annoyed that both of them are B grade Chosen. It was always a heavy emphasis on the uniqueness of Villy/Jake and how other gods followed their example only after seeing the success, they wouldn't bother with ranks below A beforehand, now we suddenly have 2 rather old B-Grades who seem to be Chosen for quite a while already by some random gods and for some reason they are both exactly here at the same time? I'd rather want an explanation for that stochastic impossibility.

Max Magee

Might be more primordials don’t ever have low grade chosen. Or the two gods are just trash tier

Biggy smalls

More like Primordial tier gods don't do this. There are millions of gods and maybe 100 gods that can consider themselves primordial tier. It was explained in previous chapters that gods in factions like the holy church have a system where lower leveled gods will bless lower leveled/graded individuals and make them their Chosens and then those mortals may be fortunate enough to graduate up the hierarchy to a more powerful god and become their Chosens in future grades. So something similar could be happening with these two. Becoming a chosen is still impressive it's just that there are tiers to this. These two aren't on Jake and Villy's tier.

Biggy smalls

No what was incredible was that Villy made Jake his Chosen in F grade. Which is the second lowest grade you can even be as a mortal. The three triplet goddesses told Villy that he should have waited until at least B grade to do it because the life expectancy of anybody below B grade would most likely not be worth the investment. So B grade isn't that crazy. Plus there are tens of millions, possibly billions of gods. Not all gods are created equal. So just being a chosen of some bottom/mid tier god isn't that impressive. Some factions, like the holy church, even purposefully have their lower tier gods give out chosen slots to super talented lower graded individuals and elevate them to higher tier gods as their chosens in later grades. SS trained with a chosen of some god in the POL and they were in C tier. what was incredible was a Primordial choosing to make an F grade their chosen. Which is the lowest tier a non-forerunner can start out as.

John Barber

Also worth remembering that they could be old B grades but only recent Chosen (post Viper reemergence)

DeAndrea H

I think Jake and the Viper forced everyone else to make a move because at the rate that people are selecting Chosens in the 93rd Universe, all the best ones are gonna be long gone by A-grade let alone S-grade.

DeAndrea H

We don’t know how long they’ve been chosen. I took it to mean they had been B-grade for thousands of years but they may have only been blessed recently. It’s entirely possible that someone looking to get a foothold in the new world wonder found the best option they could that met the restrictions and gave them a blessing

definitelynotbrjenness

Google, what would an overconfident redneck martial artist with a curly mullet and moustache that wants to go to China to train be named in a fantasy novel?

Gracie

tftc 💅🏹🔥

SmokeJam

Biggy smalls answer does make some sense. DeAndrea, both are not from the 93rd universe. They were probably already B grade when the 93rd universe wasn't even initiated yet. That's the main reason I was somewhat irritated by their sudden and convenient appearance.

David

I would call heavily damaged to be a large wound. And considering it's behemoth, it would have to be comparable to its body. So let's just take the human body. I would consider a heavy wound to be a long gash or a serious puncture through the body. Or having survived a large explosion with obvious damage. Something like that.

David

Not a chance! The more heinous the cliffhanger, the more experience he gets and the more he consolidates his understanding of the concept of hanging on a cliff! 😄

David

And Jake's magic goes chick-chicky boom, chick-chicky boom!

David

Saying most of his skills is quite a stretch...Only a few of his skills scale with the level of his opponents.

David

Clearly you haven't been reading this series very long! 😆 Sure they'll get a couple of good shots in, but Jake is coming out on top for sure! He's not about to get his ass handed to him by a couple of throw in side characters. If anyone hands it to him, it's going to be the Eastbound Monk

David

😂😂😂 Billy Bob of the Flowing Mullet 😂😂😂

This deserves more likes 👌

Thanks. I enjoy creating them. I started it with Jake’s True Dragon fight sequence.

Kt-x

Thanks for the chapter

ABTelford

Three way fight, woohoo! I hope he makes friends the Valhalla way “you beat me up pretty good, let’s go get a drink after!” Lol!

Aerlevsedi

The fun bit is that the wonder may limit entrance based on the chief admin. Meaning valdy v danger noodle might have to wait until Jake is strong enough to take part, or at least a God himself. Who knows how our special boy will break the typical advancement of God's.

Rozemyne‘s Lessy

Maybe they got their blessing in late C-grade, they probably aren’t even that old only in comparison to Jake. Human b grades live 100000 years with b grade souls 1 million. And what is Jake not even two hundred and that’s with time dilation
