The two words echoed as the Sword Saint welcomed the Silent Winter, and proving his words true, all sound indeed disappeared right after he spoke. So did colors, the golden scripture surrounding the monk, and all the leaves that were still flying through the sky.

A cold aura fell over the battlefield, making a shiver run down Jake’s spine. He saw both the Sword Saint and the Eastbound Monk slow down, as if time itself were being affected by the cold.

Like with the heat from Scorching Summer before, this wasn’t a regular kind of cold. It was the kind that made even someone like Jake feel an innate sense of discomfort. Not just due to feeling like his body cooled down, but due to the lingering sense of death and finality. The kind of death to which all beings of the multiverse were subject.

Signs of decay started showing on the Eastbound Monk’s body as the aura affected him. In different places, his skin turned blue and black in a mix of necrosis and frostbite. Jake also carefully studied the state of his own body as he felt himself affected by the magic, too, but there was nothing outright damaging him.

Is it connected to the leaves?

Many leaves had merged with the monk’s body, seemingly not accomplishing much, but now, Jake felt like whatever energy had invaded the man’s body was activated and was wreaking havoc. The monk clearly tried to dispel the energy affecting him as the Sword Saint slowly walked forward, clearly also badly affected himself.

As he walked, he slowly raised his sword, which was enveloped by an aura of death. He held it up like an executioner’s blade, with his steps taking him closer and closer. The monk had stopped moving at this point and looked at the Sword Saint, amazement in his eyes.

“Absolutely wonderful,” he said, his voice cutting through the silence as he looked around himself with awe. Turning back to the Sword Saint, he gave the other man a nod of recognition. “Even I would not want to get hit by that... so let me apologize in advance.”

Jake instantly got a bad feeling as the monk very slowly raised his arm, his palm pointed upwards. From his perspective, it looked as if he cradled the Sword Saint in his hand before he spoke.

“Pillars of the Palm.”

Despite the stillness and death reigning over the world, a golden luster still found its way up from the ground as five utterly massive pillars of gold rose around them far in the distance. Each of them made even the massive forms of the Cyclops look like insects in comparison, but before Jake could even comprehend what kind of skill this was, the golden pillars disappeared... along with the stillness of winter.

Colors and sound returned to normal; the Sword Saint was gone, and so was what Jake suspected to be the ultimate culmination of what was effectively a skill combo. For a full second, Jake just stood there as the monk also remained still, his palm still raised up in front of him. Finally, after another second, he lowered it and turned to look up at Jake.

“The power granted by the sword is still coursing through my body and should not be wasted. Ready yourself,” the monk said, Jake still confused about what had happened to the Sword Saint.

He had faintly detected an extremely powerful space magic of some form when the monk used his skill, but it was equally weird as it was powerful. Had the monk summoned a domain of some kind, or forced the Sword Saint into it? Usually, domains also brought the user into said domain, though. A sealing skill, then? It did feel a little like that, but not quite, and usually, a sealing skill would not be that easy to use, especially not on someone who was enveloped by such powerful concepts as the Sword Saint had been.

Unfortunately, Jake wasn’t going to get any answers as the monk exploded forward, intending to make good use of the time the boost from the sword remained active. Jake quickly went on the defensive and retreated, not even having time to shoot another arrow before his opponent was upon him.

Focusing fully on defense, Jake managed to avoid the first few blows despite the monk’s odd skill that allowed him to manifest one of three outcomes. He didn’t use it every time, though, which made Jake theorize maybe it had an internal cooldown or a relatively high energy cost. He wasn’t willing to subscribe too much to either theory, though, as assumptions had already proven a massive issue during this fight.

Jake did also notice one other thing. While the Sword Saint was gone, the sense of decay and the effects of the withering leaves remained, and while the necrosis and frostbite-like effects on the monk’s body had stopped getting worse, they hadn’t disappeared. It all resulted in the monk’s movements being slightly affected, allowing Jake to weather the barrage of assault somewhat.

Emphasis on somewhat.

The stat disparity was simply too large for Jake to get away unharmed, and while he tried his best, taking damage was simply unavoidable, especially when the monk got more serious. The energy surrounding his hands intensified and took on a golden hue as his punches suddenly unleashed loud shockwaves, as if his hands were breaking through the sound barrier with every hit.

That meant even if Jake avoided a punch, he was still struck, his internal injuries quickly getting worse than before, with even his soul getting affected. The monk clearly wasn’t slowing down either, making Jake consider his options.

He still had more skills to show, methods to fight, but all of them were risky and would perhaps be best saved for if he was truly fucked... so he decided to even the playing field. While he generally wasn’t a fan of doing it, if the monk used external means to make himself stronger, fine, so would Jake.

After a particularly nasty clash that left Jake with the bone on his upper arm nearly broken from a kick, he finally accepted the circumstances as a staff appeared in his hand. This gave the monk a temporary pause as his eyes opened wide in surprise right as the staff disappeared and turned into a stream of energy that flooded Jake’s body, massively boosting his power as per the description of the Abundant Staff of the Magi:

“...the staff can be consumed, granting you the Abundant Blessing of the Magi, massively increasing mental stats and magical prowess for a limited amount of time.”

The monk quickly continued his assault as Jake raised a hand and summoned a powerful barrier of stable arcane energy. The fist connected with the barrier, breaking it apart while still rebounding the Eastbound Monk. Jake used the same raised hand to point toward the monk as magic manifested around him.

More than a hundred arcane bolts appeared, helped along by Pride, as Jake willed them all to fly forth, forcing the monk on the defensive as he tried to break them apart. Unfortunately for him, it took a lot of effort to destroy them, and even after shattering, Jake made the bolts explode while creating further distance between himself and his opponent.

It was difficult to explain what Jake was experiencing at that moment. It was somewhat akin to the first time he activated a boosting skill, except it somehow also felt evident that the stats and power he currently wielded didn’t fully belong to him. It had a foreign element to it, despite Jake feeling as if his mental stats had just increased by tens of thousands. He also had another realization he’d believed to be the case, and now had confirmed to be the truth, which was just downright wonderful:

Perception was also considered a mental stat.

His magic control and power had reached an unprecedented level, and rather than fully try to comprehend what he was now capable of, he simply let his instincts take over as he pushed himself.

The monk tried to attack again, but Jake forced Pride’s domain to expand significantly, covering the monk as he made barriers appear on all sides of his charging opponent. Punching the barrier, the monk successfully got through one as a dozen more appeared on all sides of him while Jake spread out his arms and willed over a thousand small arcane bolts, each no larger than a pencil, into existence.

Pointing, Jake sent them all flying towards the monk who was making his way through a labyrinth of stable arcane barriers. He tried to break a few, but it was much faster to fly. Not that either method would help much when a hail of sharp, spear-like arcane bolts flew at him from all sides.

The monk looked surprised and tried to smack away a few bolts, but all of them were incredibly tough, and there were simply too many of them. Seemingly having no other choice, the monk changed his stance as he made a hand seal yet again.

When he did, his entire body became still and took on a golden sheen. All the bolts that hit him shattered on impact as if they’d hit an indestructible object, and while Jake would have stopped the rest of the arcane bolts, he was already busy trying to conjure his next attack and didn’t want to dedicate the mental energy. He did have enough energy to make all the remaining bolts and barriers explode, though, filling the sky with arcane destruction.

Out of the massive blast, the monk was instantly smashed into the ground below; his defensive move apparently only effective against physical attacks, as he looked a lot worse for wear. Not that much, though, as his Toughness had significantly increased from absorbing the sword. Seemingly far more than his other physical stats.

At that moment, Jake was also certain... while both of them had experienced a massive stat increase from consuming their respective items, likely identical in scope, the monk simply couldn’t utilize them as well as Jake could. He likely made the mistake of thinking too much, wanting to stay fully in control, thus allowing his own mind to become a limiting factor. A flaw Jake didn’t share, as he was one of the foremost experts when it came to not overthinking while fighting.

Smiling, Jake finally unleashed the newest magic he’d cooked up, as rather than summon bolts, arrows appeared instead all around him. The monk naturally saw this and got himself ready to defend, as he was once more under assault by an overwhelming amount of magic. He was getting better at dealing with it, though, having gotten over the initial shock.

Still, he couldn’t even leave the ground as Jake continued to hail down magic, not being super inventive but just spamming out a mix between destructive and stable arcane mana in different forms to attack. Ideas were starting to form in his mind after successfully conjuring arrows of pure magic, though, and he felt a deeper connection with his arcane mana than ever before.

He played with the sense of control as he summoned more complex patterns, closely observing how his mana moved and how the arrows formed. While still continuing to rain down arcane magic, Jake also pulled out his bow and started shooting, barely focusing on the shots themselves, but on the arrows he created.

A flash of inspiration hit him, and he activated the Rapid Fire function of Timeless Focus without even thinking, just to increase his shooting speed. The monk suddenly found the situation easier to deal with as Jake summoned less magic and focused more on his arrows.

Taking the opportunity, the monk shot into the sky and punched forward, sending a massive golden fist flying up towards Jake. He continued shooting into it several times before he was forced to dodge and interrupt his Timeless Focus, but that didn’t mean he stopped shooting altogether.

Rather than charge again, the monk seemed to realize something as he stopped. He didn’t attack again, but only defended against Jake’s arrows, breaking them apart while seemingly further familiarizing himself with his increase in stats. By now, he had nearly eliminated the traces left by the Sword Saint, and with an increased ability to utilize his stat boost, he was growing significantly stronger at a rapid pace.

Jake didn’t have time to pay it any mind, though, as he started to find his own shooting speed too slow. In a flash of inspiration, Jake grinned and pushed his Pride to its limits. He put his fingers on the string of his bow, and as usual, Avaricious Arcane Hunter’s Arrows made an arrow appear on the string, but this time around, not just on the string. At the same time, nearly a hundred arrows also appeared around him, Jake feeling his mind being torn apart as he still smiled.

Pulling back the string, arcane threads also appeared behind every arrow, pulling them back alongside it. As if a hundred bows surrounded Jake, all the strings were taut as Jake loosed his arrows, sending forth more than ninety at once.

Every single arrow registered in Jake’s mind as if he’d actually shot them from his bow, all of them benefiting from all of his passive skills and whatnot, and all of them easily controlled by Jake’s senses as they flew in unpredictable patterns and swarmed the monk.

Seeing them, Jake’s opponent stomped down hard, making the ground rise around him as a golden shockwave defended him, while at the same time, another seal was formed that seemed to massively increase the monk’s durability.

Reliving the same feeling as before, Jake nocked another arrow, this time only conjuring out a dozen additional ones around him. They were larger this time around, though, and when Jake pulled back the string, moving all the floating arrows back as he did so, something seemed to finally click, and the notification came before he even let go of the string.

[Avaricious Arcane Hunter’s Arrows (Epic)] --> [Boundless Arcane Hunter’s Arrows (Ancient)]

Letting the arrows loose, the monk once more defended himself, simply taking the attacks as he remained unmoving. Jake didn’t shoot a follow-up immediately, but instead waited for the dust to settle before looking down at the monk with a complicated gaze.

“Thanks,” he muttered, fully aware of what the monk had done.

“To interrupt the moment of enlightenment of another would be too grand a sin,” the monk said, wiping away blood from his lips after having clearly taken some damage from the many explosions. “I congratulate you on your success, and I do find myself stumped by how immense the increase in power is from your consumption of the staff, making me realize... I’m not fully utilizing what I’ve gained, am I?”

“Far from it,” Jake answered honestly.

“I see,” the monk muttered before smiling. “How exciting. Unfortunately, it appears I lost my window to fully do so with the sword.”

Right then, Jake felt the aura of the monk significantly wane, signifying that the massive stat boost from the Blademaven’s sword had dropped off. Meanwhile, Jake still had plenty of boosting time left. At some point, the Sword Saint would also return from whatever place he’d been confined to.

Yeah, things weren’t looking good for the monk.

“I hope you have more to show,” Jake said, genuinely hoping that was the case.

The monk had a complicated look for a moment before sighing. “For now, let me just shamelessly continue borrowing the power of another.”

With those words, a large warhammer appeared in his hand, radiating a similar aura to both the Staff of the Magi and the sword of the Blademaven, making Jake realize... the admittedly polite fucker had more than one of those overpowered stat-boosting weapons.

Thanks for the chapter and happy Wednesday all.

Damn, EBM has properly shown up Jake with his maven loot. Sad though, would be nice to see the monks actual abilities rather than these simulation boosted abilities.

Ville

How many weapons is this damn monk gonna use?

Kritzel Kreider

tftc! While I'm still unsure what to think about the factions of monks in general (mainly because they are an unknown as is Jake's current mysterious enemy) I like the Eastbound Monk.

Gavin

Honestly whoever wins this. So much potential growth has happened and I hope a new found friendship

General Black

Okay eastbound monk is among my favorites now. He is truly living up to the hype

definitelynotbrjenness

Okay. Monk is growing on me a little. I still want him to have to admit he's as self centered, power hungry, and blood thirsty as Jake, ss, and gfk. Oh, and it's about time for Sandy to pop out of the sand.

Bunny

Tftc

C0bra$

Thank u for the story

Fyrtue

I mean sure...but perception is the best stat and the Warhammer probably won't give it. I have now less confidence that this will be ended before the break. Long term, I don't mind it because this fight has been really neat, but a soul wants closure. I really want Jake to use eternal shadow, boundless sight, and event horizon so he can see their effects with a huge perception boost.

definitelynotbrjenness

Spit out ss and feed them each a weapon or three. Could be fun for the monk to disappear because vespy destroyed his pillar.

Sylphie

I love this chapter🍑

Clint

“… he was one of the foremost experts when it came to not overthinking while fighting.” Maybe the funniest line of the whole series so far.

definitelynotbrjenness

I hope monk becomes a cliche and is as fake as an influencer, but lots of fun ways forward with his character no matter where Zog takes him.

Jul Silver

I'm kind of hoping Jake loses this fight. It is more interesting if he doesn't win everything.

definitelynotbrjenness

Ohhh.. bad thoughts. Jake uses event horizon and it goes to monks real body actually killing him. Not good.

Staudi

That monk really annoys me with not showing his own good shit except for the kindnapping of ss

Xerecs

Damn, how many weapons did Eron get for this guy.

Clint

If Jake wants to see his good shit, he’ll have to earn it. Just like Aisha having to earn the sight of Event Horizon.

Endern

For Eron repeating his trick is quite easy, so the limiting factor should be how many residencies they found.

Totes

I really hope Jake can make EBM an Ally. It seems he’s going to need all the help he can get with this unknown faction lingering in the background

BumAssBumAss

Don't think that skill was upgraded since d-grade. I'm glad Jake is finally ironing out his neglected skills.

Jordan Rogers

I love zogarth, he surprises me more than any other author I’ve read. And I know to expect it.

djthomp

Now that is a cool skill upgrade, mad respect to the Monk for recognizing it was happening and gaving Jake space to work it out.

UNKNOWN

This is a mere glimpse of what Jake will be able to eventually do under his own power one day.

definitelynotbrjenness

anybody know how to hack a discord account in order to announce vacation canceled and bully an author who writes three times as much as most into not taking time off? asking for a friend.

Tftc

BZoot

Only flaw with that is he already used Event Horizon on the Golden Dragon…

Daniel

Ree!?

Michael Crawford

My theory is that EBM has been using the power from other folks the whole time. for instance that healing power is Erron's. The fighting power is another person's. Even the golden thing. I think bro is basically Rogue without her setback.

Gracie

tftc! 🏹🧘‍♂️⚒️

Jaydan Man

I can only see the monk as a temporary character considering his desire to not kill. In fact I see him becoming an ally outside of this virtual area

Kewi397

This one upping polite mother fucker....you rekindled my sense of wonder....

R Mac

Well he did find a way to deal with the sword saints transcendence. That’s a pretty outlandish feat, especially dealing with that AND still being able to fight Jake. I’m not confident Jake could’ve fought the sword saint and still had the energy to take on the EBM

17^3

True. Still, I feel EBM had a headstart on knowing how Jake fights as he is a lot more public than EBM had been. After this fight, Jake would probably win every time they met. The main challenge for Jake is learning how to counter each new challenger's special abilities and fighting style.

R Mac

It doesn’t feel like the EBM has even gotten serious yet. Jake not being able to identify his pillar move is shocking though. I don’t see Jake winning this fight, maybe even coming in third bc the sword saint is off in the distance somewhere while Jake gets blue whisp’d

Brian Schutt

He said he started out as a healer though. Not saying Eron did not help him get better at it, but at least was a healer off the rip.

General Black

It wouldn't work. Not even Villy himself can kill someone while they are in the simulation. The ultimate power of system fuckery is beyond all

Matt

TFW thinking less is a boon and not a detriment.

Spenser Williams

...she didn't really earn it. She was dead before he used it and he just chose to use it anyway.

Spenser Williams

I don't see Jake getting that serious either yet though. He's basically been testing out the EM so far, and I was honestly shocked he took out the Magi staff so quickly. I still can't see Jake losing here, as if the EM pulls out too many more ridiculous abilities it's just going to be unbelievable narrative-wise.

Lemonsqueezy

Reading this it really seems like EBN is more powerful than Jake. Of course the monk used weapons, and Jake seems to just be a bad match for the EMB to fight. So I say EBM is more powerful, but Jake's bloodline and abilities just overwhelmingly counter the monk without the boosted weapons. As for the SS, I see him coming back at the end or near the end of Jake beating the EBM. Probably triggering his transcendent ability, surprising the EBM and either causing EBM to be severely injured where Jake finishes him off, or finishing him off himself. Then Jake will beat them both. Jake is the typical OP MC in a LitRPG/Isekai story. Not at the level you see in other stories though. Zog has done a good job with not going to far with Jake's power. However, we still know that Jake will come out on top in this battle. The only way SS and EBM will survive this is if the Abundant Emperor stays the fight and declares a winner before any of them die. Giving a 1st 2nd, and 3rd place prize to them. Which I find would be appropriate. Otherwise Jake is going to have a month to just completely terrorize the battleground since all of the most powerful opponents are out of the event for a month because they died. I know there are some that didn't go to the central domain, but none of them can stand up to Jake in any meaningful way.

Fdrugc

Tftc it would be cool if he had 40k of those.

Kradish

The only trouble I have with Jake losing fights is that he's been setup so that he'll only lose unfair fights (e.g. boosting item vs no boosting item, or much higher level) and MC losing a fight due to unfair advantages just feels bad to read.

Kradish

In before triple KO

Yami

He will become a big antagonist during the later "aron tries to end death" arc

Gh0st-Hunt3r

I gotta say loving this match, although the EBM having another one of the OP weapons 🤣 thats a Lil much. Sword saint being locked away during his Transcendence Hmmm... hes a Time Junkie, I can see him comming out of it successfully having Paused his attack only to Still get the EBM when hes not expecting it lol and God if jake uses his Event horizon while having a boosted perception stat ....!!🤯 I can't wait TFTC Zog

Siethrobo

Identify be like: ........................

Tftc “(I) congratulate you on your success

Honestly Zog is like the only patreon writer i support since he actually gets his work out in a timely decent matter and doesn blame a headache for missing a chapter (thefirstdeifier)

Fyrtue

Especially considering its connection to the first sage.

Rewdan

I honestly can’t see Jake losing, if he wants he can colosseum the monk.

Rewdan

Thanks Zogarth

Eastbound monk

I hope as I continue to walk my path you are able to appreciate the peace I can provide.

TFTC :) ~2 :| Suggested edits: "clearly also badly *affecting* himself." should be "affected" "than try to fully *try to* comprehend what he " ditch this "just to *speed up* his shooting *speed*. " repetitive. Either change the first to "raise" or ditch the second. "Jake loosed *his arrows*, sending forth *more than ninety* arrows at once." repetitive and oddly worded. Change the first to "the strings" and change the second to "all the". Just before this you said a hundred bows, why would there be ninety arrows? The precise number doesnt matter, what matters is the demonstration of scope, right? " ** Congratulate you on your success" missing word "I"

Tribal

TFTC, the second item was a surprise. I guess this is where he (Jake) gets pressured and we finally get that long awaited Eternal Shadow upgrade.

hlias balan

I feel that this fight is the perfect time for Jake to upgrade his boosting skill considering EBM is using items to increase his stats

definitelynotbrjenness

I hope ... you are able ... I can provide. soooooooo humble. i'm not falling for your "good guy" routine monkledoodledoo!!!

Harbby

I like the fight, and I'm enjoying the direction Zog is taking with the EBM as I love monks in general. That being said, he's starting to feel like Cartman in that old South Park episode where he kept inventing new powers every time someone beat him.

Corvid

Man, is the monk named Seto Kaiba, cause he's definitely saying "screw the rules, I got money."

Corvid

I don't think he's dealt with the sword saint completely. Gotta remember, after the death of winter comes the rebirth of spring

I really hope we get another arc of Jake diving into the book and upgrading it. It could make for an interesting break in this event if Jake gets knocked out for a month

John Durrett

I"m kinda hoping for Jake to combine his newfound Legendary arrows with the idea of instantaneous arrival. The moment he looses his arrows - they pierce the target as if boundless horizon folded space to make them arrive at the same point on the other side of the fold.

Unlisted Pokémon Hudson

Yeah I love the first Defier but I feel like his first couple books especially Void Disciple were his best. I don’t know if I love the super broad cosmic angle he’s going for it’s making his characters slightly suffer.

Seen Death

With the power of system fuckery, anything is really possible... im not sold on the exact concept youre suggesting but i did appreciate thinking about it! We still dont really know much about the event horizon, but although seemingly unavoidable, the arrows are still are traveling to their destination Im thinking that the concept of travel itsself is crucial to the arrows effects, for example if the arrow is summoned inside the target, it would most likely just be sticking out of them (not taking into effects like poison or a forced explosion etc)... so while it would be easier to hit i think its overall damage would be greatly lessened (especially forcing through whatever defenses the target has with... willpower? Something different than hes currently relying on) While bloodlines and trancendences exist in the system, other than FS there is usually always a way to protect against them, even though the targets most often are unable to grasp that ability For example, Jake is supposely one of the best poison crafters in B grade, but it seems extremely common for most powerful opponents to combat it with their own energies (and/or the dragon having a anti-dragons bane potion)

Seen Death

Haha The only part id complain about is this event forcing it to have 3 combatants, i still like the fight but it feels like the 3 fighters are all a bit miffed about not being able to 1v1... the monk using consumable boosting skills make the (mostly) 2v1 a lot more acceptable though Lucky the monk didnt get the staff though, cuz if his willpower was uncontested i think hed have forced SS and Jake into a much worse position already

heltok

How does it make sense that EBM can instakill tanky carmen and quick sylphie but then struggle so much with Jake and SS.

Ty Cooper

Lol is anyone getting the Valdy colosseum fight and Zog's vacation flashbacks. The cliff that is to come.

Patryk

Surely eron didn't raid all the remaining OP cyclopes, right?

Michael

Is the monk a chosen as well or divine blessing only?

Manowar

Also doubt it is the end of it. Now it is focussed on more numerous and more powerful attacks. Wonder if he will at some point be able to target specific things, like an ability, concept or even a soul.

Manowar

I think both are possible. Jake can loose, but not die because EBM might find a reason to not want to finish it or the emperor has a reason to end it or something.

Manowar

Interesting theory... That would make him less favourable in Jake's eyes though I think.

Clint

Three things: 1) The powerhouses in that room (Saintess, Templar, team Earth, and Lopas) exhausted themselves in other battles before taking EBM seriously. 2) EBM had tons of huge attacks to redirect against enemies with stronger attacks than defenses. 3) His direct-to-soul bell attack hits where most people lack strong defenses, and was grinding away at everyone during the early part of the fight where the factions were ignoring him. In Carmen’s case specifically, her legs were crushed to jelly before EBM got around to her, and it was the soul attack from the bell that finally took her out. Something for her to work on. For Sylphie specifically, she’s much weaker in a locked room. Both her big air effects and her speed are nerfed.

Sammot

Okay but she thought afterward that even if everyone teamed up from the beginning she still wouldn't have been sure they'd beat him. So i don't think it really answers the question.

Sick journey to the west skill

ABTelford

“The polite f’er had more than one…” lol!!! Oh my gosh I am loving this chapter!! All of them keeping in mind that this goal isn’t the be all end all, their own growth is most important- but still striving for the goal with all they have. It’s awesome! And a great, unusual dynamic. I love it!! Thanks Zogarth! 😀

ABTelford

I hope you try writing every day for a month and see how hard/easy it is for you. I’m honestly curious how you’ll do. I have ADHD and the weirdest things throw me off.

ABTelford

No, I don’t think uncle Jake can summon popcorn. It’s not one of my abilities either. No, there is no popcorn delivery service. Ok fine I’ll go to the store to buy more. Record it for me and don’t you dare share spoilers when I get back!

definitelynotbrjenness

I think I've written every day for at least a month before. if not, I came close. The one time I did a royal road challenge I finished in about two weeks. I know what you mean, though. I normally think while i'm walking at work and knock a chapter out in just a few hours. however, once I started listening to audiobooks, it's tougher and can be a struggle. Well, that plus the heat kicks my butt making taking a nap higher priority than writing.

Roflo

I thought that issue was just me but it seems other people noticed too. Tbh this past year was especially rough with hiatuses and while I won’t judge the first deifier ( I don’t know how bad migraines really are) I was having flashbacks to the beserk manga. Though if I compare the stores over all primal hunter or defiance I would chose defiance. An unpopular opinion probably but I just enjoy the story more. Might be because it was my first book for the lit rpg genre.

definitelynotbrjenness

boooo! Primal Hunter better. It's a great story that has cliff hangers, great characters, cliff hangers, lots of interesting things going on that I am curious about, cliff hangers, and let's me make up lots of stupid theories about things that probably won't happen. DoF is also an interesting story with a few interesting characters and empire building and evil monks and a little bit of mystery as to where it is going, but way too much cultivation at times. My favorite character is Karl? the archer that knows Zac will drag them into some trouble that they'll barely survive, but the rewards are worth it. Current theory is the Zecia sector will end up being the new home of the empire, but Zac will have some struggles with factions there and end up blowing parts of it up.

Roflo

Yeah I think I can understand where you are coming from. The hype for primal hunter is valid and I enjoy reading the story. I can get where you’re coming from regarding the cultivation though it’s in-depth and a lot, tbh I find that kind of stuff easier to listen to than actually read. Oh and I know who you’re talking about I think it’s Carl Elrod or something a really funny character.

JW Saxby

Sonuvabich! 😂😂 Tyftc 🍻

Fylbrom

No, ignore that's dudes comments. Most of his follow the pattern of being nonsensical.

Fylbrom

Its a cool idea, but how does one form a proper Path around borrowing others power? Thats the only flaw i see in your theory. It would be mad cool for someone like Rogue to exist though. Maybe some weird bloodline?
