Details for Episode 6 ---------------------------------- Kitahara’s internal conflict The reason for Kitahara’s internal conflict is because he is based on two different people, Oguri’s owner and trainer. The owner was willing to let Oguri go to nationals after a lot of convincing. However, the trainer was not, and was extremely upset about the decision. I remember reading at some point that he still has regrets about not being able to win the Tokai Derby with Oguri. ---------------------------------- Oguri Plushies Apparently, Oguri plushies were among the first, if not the first, officially licensed plushies sold for Japanese racehorses due to his popularity. ---------------------------------- Song from the concert The song is called “Brightest Heart”. It might be in the JP version, as a lot of the anime only tracks get added to the jukebox later on. ---------------------------------- Trainer license time needed 22:56 The multiple year requirement is the time spent working with horses, but Kitahara has already been a trainer for a while (his flashback last time was from 15 years ago). However, the test is only held once a year. ---------------------------------- The group photo The significance of this photo is that Oguri’s trainer refused to be involved in the group photo after the race because of how upset he was. In the world of Umamusume, Kitahara managed to send Oguri off on good terms.

Details for Episode 7 ---------------------------------- Manga Timelines Cinderella Gray and Star Blossom are in their own timelines, so the teams and relationships are different even if the characters are the same. ---------------------------------- Quote about Rudolf 32:13 The quote about Rudolf being the only absolute in racing is a famous one from real life. ---------------------------------- Eclipse first, the rest nowhere This is an old English saying based on the racehorse Eclipse. Eclipse was an undefeated racehorse, and during his era, races were much longer with multiple checkpoints. If a horse was too far behind the leader when they passed the checkpoint, they would be disqualified and their final placement would be “nowhere”. Eclipse was so far ahead of every other horse that every other horse would be disqualified and thus be listed as “nowhere”. Also, his wikipedia page says that he had a unique running style very low to the ground, which seems rather familiar. ---------------------------------- Dicta Striker Dicta Striker (yellow hoodie) is based on Soccer Boy, father to Narita Top Road and Hishi Miracle. ---------------------------------- Black Ale Black Ale is based on Rugger Black. ---------------------------------- Oguri’s head shake 50:54 This was a habit that Oguri did before races started.
