Compared to other characters you’ve drawn, this one might be an odd suggestion, but I think a chance to see your interpretation of Sam from the “Sam & Max” game franchise would be fun and interesting. I feel like he has a nice balance of masculinity and cartoony charm to him. Six feet tall, a musclegut physique, dapper detective attire akin to 1930s male fashion, and an eloquent (if a bit verbose) way with words. He has always hit a sweet spot with me. Maybe he will for you too? No pressure, of course.

Rick Taylor from Splatterhouse might be an interesting pick, both for this game and Battle Heat. You could even do a palette swap of him to make him look like Jason from the NES Friday the 13th.

Every time I think of a new fighter in your game I think of him. And for his animations, I’ve thought of: The Starting animation = He coming out of the Pirate Cove; The Attack animation = He sprinting full screen like in the game; The Taunt animation = Him singing. Maybe he’d have something going on with his hook? I don’t know, just wanted to put this out there.
