Moving Update: Lego Cardboard (Patreon)
Content
I don’t remember if I’d mentioned it in an earlier post or not, but I’ve been in this same dinky apartment for about 10yrs. And in those ten years, I’ve bought some Lego (shocking, I know)
For whatever reason, there’ll be some box art that speaks to me, compelling me to keep it. Like these two great Wonder Woman sets (being blocked by Data) that are both bizarre in their own right if you know their back stories...
However the rest (a majority of the boxes I have kept for some reason or another) are stored away in closets and other areas of my home. Ever growing, like a mold or something.
For the longest time I’ve wanted to use them as like, a wall mural type thing of “All my favorite sets!” (even though it’s not even a complete collection). Back when I’d buy them, I would open the sets and keep as many of the factory seals intact to preserve the “originality”… or however I was justifying it in my brain.
But I’m getting older and while I still sort of cling to that idea of displaying them, my anti-hoarding instincts are kicking in. Collections should be fun and enjoyable! They should be tended to proudly! And frankly, the idea of mounting a bunch of set boxes on the wall like Kraven The Hunter feels a bit less ideal as time goes on.
Frankly I’m not feeling as proud about them taking up space as I used to when the collection was like one or two cool boxes. Especially when I could be using the area for storage in packing up Brickheadz and other models I’ve built in the past. Ya know, actual tangible things I’ve made rather than stuff made by other people, or in the case of those HP boxes, stuff made by terrible people.
So it’s time for them to go!
…well, most of them…
Here’s the highlights!
In the back of the pile was my unbuilt, still sealed Saturn V that I’ve never had room to display but one day hopefully I’ll have a place to put it… one day…
To no one’s surprise there were a ton of Superhero boxes! (it’s still wild to me that we got a Brother Eye OMAC set! Crazy!)
I've even held on to a few of my old Employee Gift Set boxes from when I was still working with LBR (man times sure have changed…) 😔
Some original Cuusoo / Ideas Sets…
Also a handful of Brickheadz boxes!
All in all it was therapeutic to downsize and relive some old memories :)
