This is a fun little fig!

And better yet, it’s a version from one of my favorite Flash artists, Scott Kollins! :)

Oh man, just... oomf... wow oh yeah, that's good stuff

*ahem*

Anyway!

Excelsior Customs (yet another new brand on the scene) is quickly becoming a good source for Comic-Based DC figs! Or rather… PickleBricks outsourcing their designs… but it’s not ZKJ which are also(?) printing PickleBrick designs…? I’ll admit I’m a little lost on who the actual credit goes to as those three are very quickly blending together 😵‍💫

Regardless, this is my first Excelsior Customs minifig I’ve reviewed, but if you were to tell me that it was a ZKJ fig I’d also be inclined to agree. The only difference I can really tell is the print quality.

Unlike ZKJ’s lackluster launch of their brand, the Pad Print quality here is just a tinge better than what we’d seen from those guys thus far.

This fig’s design has the benefit of simplicity on its side. I really like their choice to use the updated Lego muscle structure. It really contributes to the overall less-is-more mentality. Not to mention using bright-green as their base color plastic! It’s a much better alternative to standard green!

However this fig cost me $50 (plus international shipping). Fifty smacko’s for a custom torso and head... yikes!

While it’s a great looking duo of parts, in my mind we coulda chopped that price down even further. Something more akin to CitizenBrick’s prices who print very similar (cheaper) figs in larger batches (also occasionally skipping leg print)

As for the big picture, I really don’t have much to complain about though! It’s one of those custom figs that harkens back to the Flickr days where customs were made with love and care for the character, not just “we gotta make the next MCU fig! 🫨"

It’s a bit of a shame that the skin tone on the torso isn’t a perfect match. Also while we’re complaining about little details, the bottoms of the feet aren’t yellow. Or even just a yellow border around the feet would have been nice… something like this maybe?

But what we still got is good enough for me! I’ve been wishing, hoping, daydreaming about one day owning a nice looking Weather Wizard for about a decade now. And here we are! I’ve finally got one :)
