BatBricks Animated Series Batman! (Patreon)

Ooooooh boy 😮💨
The printed hands! The cape and cowl! The wraparound print! Oh my word this is gonna be a fun one to review! I mean come on! What a wildly impressive minifig! This fig looks GREAT and certainly will be giving BlackStar’s Batman a run for their money!
BlackStar’s fig up until this point in my Lego collecting days, was the first and only BTAS Batman that’s been on the market. There’s been a few UV figs by Onlinesailin here and there but Blackstar was (for a while anyway) the real deal...
And then all of a sudden here comes BatBricks (traditionally a UV printer) launching this amazing Pad Print fig at us printed and produced by Jaka of all brands, and I’m just floored! Wow!
I mean look at this thing, are you kidding me?! Incredible stuff here! Those blue highlights all over the fig really elevate this to some of BatBrick’s best design they’ve ever produced!
Just like Nostalgia and Corefigs before them, Jaka has yet again taken another brand partner under their wing. Basically if you’ve been wanting Jaka to dive into BTAS, this is that fig! But before I really get too far along, I should also probably mention that there was a chase-variant of this fig too. Same price, but red...
It’s nice and a fun reference to that one time when Riddler put Batman in the red level of Tron (or whatever that episode was about) but I’m kinda getting to the point where color variants are only worth my time if I’m not reeeeaaaally strapped for cash. The concept is great for creators, but terrible for us empty-pocket collectors!
Abnormal’s been doing it probably the best way you can for years now where the fig is at least slightly different in its design (like their Reverse Flash yellow variant of the DCEU Flash for example). I’m not really gonna go deep down this. Ya'll know my opinions on the money-sucking color variants with their “one of one” selling features and artificial scarcity.
The community didn't used to be so vulturous! I’m not here for the clout, I’m here for the figs! And frankly that’s not where I want to encourage the market to go.
Anyway! Let’s take a look at the primary fig! The penultimate animated Bat-Fig!
Once I got everything out of the excessive amount of packaging (seriously, it was a little overkill), we get to really admire all the stuffffff! A fantastic printed grapnel gun, a double sided cloth cape, a bonus scowling head print, a UV printed 4x4 collectors plate, and the fig itself with an amazing cape and cowl!
This fig is genuinely incredible, there’s no way to phrase it better than that. I’m floored at how clean this fig looks! Again those blue highlights all over the fig and custom parts really tie the entire look of the fig together.
Not only that, but it’s not overdoing anything! It was all designed and applied with intention and purpose that not many could capture quite as well as Jaka’s production team.
It’s in the little things like the cell shading on the legs and hips all being to the right side of the fig, or how the emblem is correctly sized to frame the simplicity of the chest. AND it’s got 360° print that aligns perfectly!
The only thing I’m not a big fan of is the yellow-y flesh tone. It’s almost a perfect color match, but still close enough to the official Lego Light Flesh plastic. Oh! But does line up with official bat-cowls (in case you were wondering!)
But ya see what I mean by how it looks yellow-y? It could be my lighting set up, but even to the naked eye it was a little off...
This fig even looks great with its included cloth cape or a standard Lego cape! No doubt because the printing is just that good!
However in my opinion the cowl doesn’t look as good without the hard cape. Something about the gaps were it just cuts off at the neck. But that’s just me anyway. It’s a little bit pick.
That cape for starters is really nice! The shaping is great and the multiple points on the end are really screen accurate! But then they went and printed the thing both inside and out! Fantastic stuff! And again it’s not over designed! I must be dreaming! 👀
The cowl element is really solid too! It’s got great shaping in the ears and I love the wide-mouth opening! Plus its’s another printed element that has perfect blue matching the other highlights across the fig!
The gauntlets are also really nicely designed to align with the printed hands (which again are just fantastic!) These two wrist parts look perfect and are well adapted for the funky Lego minifig scale!
And of course the grapnel gun is SO perfect! (I feel like i've been saying that a lot in this review). Not only is it just the perfect size, but the important details are not just molded in, but printed as well! The big red button and the claw teeth really add to the premium quality of this piece!
I don’t think you could ask for anything better than this! BatBrick’s have truly blown me away with this fig with their design, and Jaka has impressed me yet again with their printing skills! And can you believe this fig only cost me $100?! This is crazy!
As it says in the cardboard sleeve, this is part of the “Animated Collection” so I’m keen to see what BatBricks and Jaka come up with next! :)
