MrJBrick's Red Lantern Rankorrr (Patreon)

This fig (while never blatantly being sold as a “MrJ Brick” fig) was made by MrJ and you can’t tell me otherwise! 

They’ve been putting out Lantern figs up the wazoo over the last year or so, and this was just another one that popped up that I snagged out of a desire for more Red Lantern figs!

That’s the whole story really. Well, that and it was a good price! $60 for a MrJ fig feels like the old days! A no-brainer to pick it up really! To be fair though, Rankorr isn't exactly in the mainstream these days. Mostly what I know about him is that he’s one of the only human Red Lanterns (at least that I recall without doing some deep dives into ComicVine). Not the most memorable character, but a pivotal one in terms of GL Lore.

It’s a fun concept for a character, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to say he’s recognizable unless you’re steeped in the world of comics. So depending on how you look at it, that $60 feels a little steep given the subject, but cheap given the production team behind it.

At the end of the day I’m gonna keep this one brief! It's got nice print quality around the entire torso, the head print is decent... but the legs are awful.

We’ve got another case of Life Brick Spider-Legs and just like Guy Gardener, and even Atrocitus before, the black of the pants are only printed around the outside of the legs, stopping before it gets into the upper leg area of each limb, leaving big red gaps in the design.

…ugh… (I should just start a hashtag or something)

It really makes you wonder.... it must be cheaper for folks to print (or source the parts) like this. It’s gotta be, right? Because to me it’s really freaking annoying! It looks bad in any pose! They’re basically useless unless you plan to just keep the fig in a display case never to be touched by human hands again.

It’s weirdly ironic how much these Red Lantern figs make me angry…

Otherwise it’s a solid-ish fig with a killer torso print! As are the armbands and the re-molded flame headpiece we’ve seen from official minifigs and knock offs. It’s a shame MrJ didn’t include a proper Red Lantern lantern piece though…

But yeah. It’s a good fig! I like it! …mostly
