Hades BTAS Clayface (Patreon)

On my gosh this fig is SO cool!
I feel like I’ve said that with just about all the Hades BTAS figs so far but I think I may have a new favorite! :P
The print job for this fig is just really solid! Hades was clever to print the same amount of mud stuff onto the custom parts as they did the rest of the fig! And wow did It really help blend the two together rather than just relying solely on the molding of the custom parts to do all the work! If it was just left blank, the contrast would have been just too obvious for me to enjoy it, but this!
This is just great!
Truly this fig shines in its overall big picture art-design approach paired with its fresh 3D design concepts. The simple darker orange shading and black linework throughout the entire fig and custom elements just elevate this to another level. Hades truly could have kept this a plain colored plastic and it would’ve been fine, but the addition of depth and care for the source material really is apparent!
It’s a shame the same treatment wasn’t given to all the “hands” but do they really need it? Eh… I don’t think it was crucial.
With all these hands, you can really get some mileage out of Clayface here! Lots of fun poses and action shots can be taken with him! Not only that, but each of these elements (including the head!!) have a full range of motion to them! All thanks to the clever design work of this over-the-torso chest piece! Very cool stuff!
The pegs on each of these limbs are so close to standard Lego-Bar size, but alas, just a teeeeny tiny bit too small for being compatible with the larger official system :(
All these parts are so cleanly molded and printed, I’m incredibly impressed. The tandem of a well printed leg/torso mixed with some beautifully thought through custom elements, it’s just beautiful stuff!
My particular copy had some very minor paint chipping around the sockets and pegs… not sure if that’s common or if it was just my copy, but here’s that too (because I like to be thorough)
As for the innards of the torso and head elements, those were clean as a whistle! I was also really excited to learn that the head was hollow to add even more depth to the mouth! 😀
$100 for this big fella and woof! What a steal! I could’ve easily seen this thing go for something closer to $150-160!
I’ve been dying to review this fig for months now, so I’m super happy to have finally gotten the chance to hyperfocus on it for a good two weeks straight :)
