Oh hey! Another 1978 Superman! Only this time dialed waaay back to the bare bones of what a custom minifig could be! And from another new brand on the scene! (how weird... I should start a bingo card...)

Ironically, in terms of the design, there’s not much to talk about. It’s very clearly intended to be an early to mid 2000’s inspired “official looking” fig. Something that would slot in with some very early official-superhero figs of that era.

However Bingo’s choice to not print white pupils is much more of a design language akin to something 1990s or earlier. I don’t recall this particular musculature design ever pairing with a non-pupil head in Lego’s own officially sold figs. In fact most of the 2003 Rami Spider-Man minifigures that kicked off this base layer torso design were already well into utilizing head prints with pupils by that time

So unless you’re a hyper nerd for this stupid stuff like I am, then it might not bug you! But if it does, I'm so sorry.

I do wish that musculature on Supes was a bit lighter in shade, as well as for the yellow to be more saturated. Bingo’s print quality is decent, but not perfect imo. Otherwise this is pretty solid. It's better than anything I could have ever made!

I’d almost wish it came with some old school original “Lego Guy” hair to match the vibes (like those Peter Parker's up there^^). That would fit better than this official Superman hair. A hairpiece that was design and released specifically for the first ever Lego Official Superman in 2011 a full eight years after this musculature design was implemented!

Don’t even @ me about my early 00s Lego knowledge! I’ve got more info up in my brain about this crap than I know what to do with 😤

Oh and before I forget, this torso also reminded me a bit of that SUPER old Christo Superman Returns fig with the weird Star Wars Clone Wars head design… ya'll remember this? Who would buy this?!

(what an odd fig…)

Anyway!

The heat vision piece is kinda cool! It doesn't really fit with this “old school” vibe the fig is serving, but it’s neat for other Superfigs and I’m sure I’ll get some good use out of it with LifeBrick’s Synder-Supes one of these days! 👍🏻

At the end of the day, this little guy was about $50. For me that’s a bit overpriced for fig without printing below the waist.

Ah well, I bought it, so who’s the real sucker, eh?
