Now this is a custom minifig!

Jin doesn't often dabble with comic-based fig designs, but when they do it’s always special :)

I should mention right off the top, this is technically the chase variant! There was actually a "damaged" design that folks had a lot of backlash towards when Jin announced it. So through the power of social media, Jin was pestered by commenters to provide an alternative!

Good on them I suppose for still printing both versions, but it’s interesting that (and you’ll see what I mean looking at the photo) that this wasn’t just a fig sold with two torsos. Especially when it was something completely feasible. Instead Jin had his resellers list the “damaged” version as an entirely separate fig despite the only major difference being the torso design.

You see what I mean right? That’s not worth another $95 bucks for a second torso. Perhaps if there were cuts or bruises or something on the rest of the fig, sure, but this was still an odd retail choice coming from the brand that practically invented the DLC concept of custom collecting

Regardless of the drama that surrounded this fig, I now have it in hand! The preorder went live for this fig around January 2024 for around $95, and was shipped to me (be it a little delayed) some time around October of the same year.

Ten months is a bit of a long stretch for Jin, but the wait was worth it!

No matter your opinions of the weird custom shawl element, take that off and it’s still a beautiful custom minifig! That hair/bandana piece is SO great! The way the hair flows outward and the straps blowing in the wind! Oh man it’s good!

The hair might be a little too detailed and spindly for some folks. I felt that way when I first saw the renders for preorder, but having it in hand made me rethink it!

It even reminds me of MrJ’s Iron Fist figs from from a while back!

Now with this huge hair piece and the custom shawl, this fig has some really neat three dimensional qualities to it that look great from all angles!

All things considered though, I’m not a big fan of that torso-covering shawl piece. I fully get what Jin wanted to convey! Electra’s always got that airy flow to her comic design that is very moody and Breyfogle/Miller esq. So if Jin was to only include something like a lower sash/belt element, it might have looked a bit out of place. But for me, I would have been fine without it.

Cool thing is, it’s removable! Peep that magnet! 🧲

For me I’m just happy they printed that same shaping and “flow” right into the fig if you wanted to opt out of using the piece. Good on ya Jin for making versatile elements and prints working in tandem OR solo!

Bit of a bummer there's no red applied over the shoulder though. Two steps forward, one step back

As for the print details, it’s good stuff! Well… other than the facial design of this fig having eyes a little too far apart, the rest of the fig is great! Though I can’t give a proper shout out to those arm prints as much as I’d want too. If only the connected all the way 😞

But on the outside! Like oh my gosh look at the alignment on those arms! That’s nuts how clean they turned out!

Oh and I almost forgot to talk about her Sai! Both are really well made and nicely elevate the official Lego Sai for something more worthy of photography! That black is nice, and the silver is clean and shiny!

I mean all in all, it’s a solid fig! I’m a fan! Jin really doesn't miss, even with their “less than hyper perfect” figs like this!

It’s all good stuff all around! So as they say on the streets “I’m IN for JIN!”

(...th-they don’t say that, we all hate that guy)
