Out with the old, in with the new! (Patreon)

Up until today, Jaka’s Mark 7 was the premium MCU Iron Man fig. But today! It has been dethroned!

…though not easily!

I mean just look at how far we’ve come since 2021! Jin’s taken this tinman to a whole new level of quality I never thought I’d see! I mean just getting the figure in a shiny red like this feels like such a treat, but to then go even further with the magnets and the layering!

I mean Jaka’s fig was good, but wow Jin did some heavy lifting!

It’s interesting how these two stand up to one another. At the time, this Mark 7 was possibly my favorite custom Iron Man fig, but Jin has completely blown it out of the water! Other than some minor similarities, you could almost tell me these were two different Iron Man suits all together.

The different approaches to design really shows where Jin refined the overall concept. These two figs have very different silhouettes, especially from the side.

I really appreciate what Jaka tried to do with the printed armor piece. At the time it was pretty well layered and looked rather serviceable, but it looks sort of simple and flat from some angles (by comparison!) If you didn’t have Jin’s right here next to it, it still looks pretty great solo!

The back of these two are where the biggest improvements are imo

The smaller flight-guides matching perfectly with the print of the torso really elevates Jin’s yet again. Jaka’s is still great, but again by comparison, it just falls short.

One thing Jaka’s still holds over Jin’s is the Tony Stark head design. While I wasn’t able to remove the head from helmet on Jin’s fig, it wasn't a total loss for me. Simply giving Jaka’s head to Jin is just perfect! :)

What do you guys think though? Jaka’s certainly feels more Lego-Like, but is it still the fan favorite?

Only time will tell… 🤔
