Now this Spider-Fig is… well… it’s an interesting figure.

It’s not anything super impressive if you’ve been collecting as along as I have, but the drama behind it is far more interesting. We all know the story by now, but in case you’re new to the hobby or missed my recap post earlier this week…

This was one of several 2021 custom figs that PCB designed, then outsourced to RexMinibrick for production, only for Rex to take all our money and run for the hills. PCB / Brothers Figure / Tier One later started a campaign in 2023, that required tons of us to “fund the project” again and pay a second time for figs we’d already bought, yadda yadda yadda!

It pissed a lot of people off, myself included.

And alllllll of that drama to say that this fig is just… fine?

The custom Peter Parker hair and expressions are the biggest pull for me… but even then, Crosscheck made a Tobey-Peter years ago! So even the charm of getting that unique and exclusive “Aged-Up" Tobey Maguire aspect of this fig is a little lackluster.

Although I'll give it to PCB, as their facial design is still better than Crosscheck’s... but it's still a little odd. The five o'clock shadow is rather unique design concept...

idk…. it’s just weird because I’m basically the owner of a fig designed years ago that would have been very impressive at the time, but falls somewhere in the middle ground by today’s market.

It’s design intentions were to match with the newer MCU No Way Home apearance (a version that had been slightly dulled and had a weird mask). So on that front, it’s already a step down in terms of base design inspiration. For me personally, I've also had four years of time to sit around and think about that movie...

But then to go even further, and compare it to PCB's first version of this fig is also bizarre…. Does it feel like an upgrade? Maybe? But man the lack of side torso ink really feels weird (especially when this fig has fully 360° printed limbs and printed hands of all things)

The dulled silver is also a bit disappointing, but that’s more so an intentional design choice from the movie, so I’ll let that one slide...

idk, it’s just so weird to get to the end of this four year wait for this fig and just feel no excitement for something I was really looking forward to back then. I keep coming back to other brands,  but LifeBrick’s Spider-Fig still blows this one out of the water!

Yeah man. I like the hair, but I don’t like the blank plastic and the huge wait time. This fig isn’t bad, but it’s not outstanding 🤷🏻‍♂️
