Mmmm... shiny :) (Patreon)

Working with reflective surfaces can always be a fun time, and this figure was no exception!
Here's some GIFs of raw image files just showcasing how dynamic lighting a figure like this can be! The real challenge is to not only to just light the shot well, but to bounce that lighting from different sources.
It’s like being in a bathroom with a mirror and no lights, but you’re armed with a flashlight. Sure you can shine the flashlight directly at the mirror, but you won’t be able to see anything else other than the blinding light in your face. Instead it’s easier to shine it away from you off a wall or the ceiling for a soft glow.
That was the vague principle I went with while shooting this dude. The lights above could shine down and reflect off or past the figure, then with white paper underneath him, it helped to lighten his torso and face :)
It’s a wild process that I use most frequently with Doctor Fate photoshoots, and I love working with it each time I get new chromed parts! But getting to use that technique on a fully chromed minifig certainly made things more interesting! :P
