Well I suppose I should talk about the figure I used before I wrap things up, shouldn’t I? Where do I start, or yeah that’s right his big dumb stupid waste of money shipping box! :P

Man this dude’s packaging is HUGE!

You all know I have a slight disdain for the lack of consistency with customizers and their little boxes. Some just toss their figs in bags, others in little cardstock boxes, some plastic containers or clamshells, or even cardboard wrapped plastic cases.

I personally find that, yes, they keep the items safe upon transit, but like the added bells and whistles feels a bit too much. So believe me when I say, Donut is the most guilty party when it comes to over packing their items.

Are you ready for this? ...Cuz I don’t think you are.

Okay so I opened my mail box to find a large white mailer envelope. Inside was a smaller manila envelope. Inside that was this custom printed rectangular box with magnetic clasps to hold it shut (yes already over the top, but they had to throw magnets in too!). Inside that fancy box was a foam lining holding two round tin containers like a loaded gun in a suitcase. One of the tins contained the figure with yet another foamed insert to keep it in place. The other tin container had the three custom shields and the preorder cab-door, along with the two even further unnecessary round steel collectors cards!

Oh my gosh! Geez!

...Now that $85 price tag makes a bit more sense... A little over kill though if you ask me.

Anyway, now that I could get the figure out, let’s talk about what’s inside!

The four shields included are all really really REALLY nice! There’s some very well printed tiny details across all of them like the typeface on the cab door. The door itself (at its thinnest point) is a half of a plate thick (the same as standard Lego Bracket pieces)

One of the heads included features blue printed eyes, which in my opinion does not work in conjunction with standard Lego. It goes without saying though, that Donut has always been a little disappointing with their head/face designs. They work well with the custom helmet piece, but outside of that, not so much…

The helmet itself is really well shaped and overall fits the aesthetic of the design, but doesn’t perfectly line up with standard Lego heads. It’s close, but just off enough to make it look a little silly. Also this is just a personal opinion, but I feel like the depth of the nose bridge is a bit too much. There’s just something about it that’s a little off putting but idk

Also it’s worth mentioning that the interior of the piece is very scrappy, with loose bits of dust/fuzz that comes off on heads that fit more snug. It’s okay to overlook it because of how well polished the outside of the helmet is though, so not a big detractor from the over all element.

The fig certainly gives PCB’s upcoming Cap a run for his money, but we’ll have to wait and see to compare the two and their respective shipping… Maybe he’ll ship his via carrier pigeon and pack it with lead lined paper inside of a box or a wooden crate! :P

*spoiler... he didn't actually do that
