Now the most interesting thing about these guys for me was not only the figures, but their surroundings as well!

I wanted to try my hand at a little more of a practical toy photographer’s approach to still life images, so I sacreligiously bought a few McFarelane’s Walking Dead building kits, a few model train trees, and a big ole backdrop from Luke’s Toy Store.

This was all very much out of my axis in terms of production and behind the scenes planning, but man was I excited to change it up just a little to see what I could really do :P

After some research from other Minimate photograohers, I came to the conclusion that these weird Walking Dead sets were the way to go! ...Truth be told, I never quite expected to build with a knock-off building system to share here on Patreon, and yet here we are! :P

McFarlane Toys Walking Dead kits make for pretty great realistic backdrops that work well in scale to Minimates, as well as being compatible with the interlocking stud mechanics. It’s a very convenient detail that Minimates have anti-stud connections the same size as Lego studs on the bottoms of their feet… although it’s a real shame their hands are not compatible with Lego Bars
