Okay well here we are yet again… more complaints inbound, y'all ready?!

I ordered this fig several months ago under the pretence of an updated design on Christo’s 2013 Reverse Flash fig. But you see, back in 2013, it was a $70 groundbreaking original design that contrasted perfectly the Lego Batman 2 Video Game Flash fig that he had produced a year earlier.

Yet now here we are in 2021 and well… it’s the same damn fig with a new head. (yes I’ll go into the tiny minutia of details because that’s what you all are here for, but honestly though… it’s the same exact fig and I’m not impressed)

Again, outside of the single-sided head print, I’m gonna sound like a broken record here from yesterday’s post, but hey, it’s got the same problems (go figure). There’s still no dual molded legs. No arm printing whatsoever. And only a single head print (which I mentioned) almost like it’s a hold out to be cheap, which I know from experience that Christo is anything but… or so I thought (See? Broken record)

Yeah sure the torso print is a little cleaner and streamlined compared to a minifigure from eight years ago; I expected that. But PAD printing tech has come a long way since then. It’s just… it feels like Christo is keeping himself in his own box when it comes to his Flash figs in particular. Yes I’m all for continuity across a collection, but there’s some bigger issues that underlie both this one and Destiny's Hand.

This updated fig was only announced back in November for pre-order. It was easily the quickest turnaround for a minifig from Christo in YEARS (that I’ve received)! And yes, the new head-print falls more in line with Lego’s current design style. But yet again, a new head design doesn’t hold up a $120 minifig. No matter which way you slice it.

Granted, there’s also the possibility this fig was released in the notion to sell to newer builders and collectors without greatly upsetting old collectors (like myself)... but frankly it could have been so much better!

All that said, it’s another sign of Christo just treading water. This could have been a big upgrade! Arm printing or 360 leg printing for starters. Hell, it could have even been a completely different version of the character! Maybe a mid-2000’s Hunter Zolomon design or a Silver Age 1960s design… but no...

Ugh…

Christo is nothing if not consistent, I’ll give him that.
