So a little while back I picked up this cool fig designed by Phoenix Custom Bricks, and produced by GoldBricks. Now due to the influx of pre-ordered figs I received between January and April, I got a little backlogged. Then of course (as life does) my schedule was changed and yet again this fig review was pushed back. I was thinking to myself as the time went by that perhaps a build idea or a photoshoot would come to me but it still hasn’t. So I guess instead of just continuing to hold on to this review, I’d like to one day finally get caught up again!

So let’s chat about his great fig already!

Not much can be said about the clamshell… which I guess is a nice thing :P
No extra doodads, bells, whistles, cling wraps, card stock, tape… ya know. Just a simple (yet uncommonly shaped) rectangle clamshell case. Inside, it included a fancy GoldBrick’s-standard metal collectors card/plate/thing (whatever)

Now, this might sound harsh... but the fig itself (while solid) is a bit bland. Not that that’s entirely at anyone’s fault, the costume in the film has more depth in it’s physical shading with varying degrees of grey as well as thin bits of blue fabric around the entire thing. That’s a hard enough design to capture when Lego only makes two shades of common grey, plus gunmetal…

The design choice to pick only gold and silver fillers with black linework though… it can look a little plain in person without the color of the wonderful molded cape… but again that goes back to the translation of fabric and leather to plastic. Leather and layered cloth can give a very different look to a costume depending on lighting and studio sets. Sometimes it looks more like a dark greyish brown (like in this screenshot) so… this one gets a pass for me. Juuuust barely though… only because I missed out on the JakaBrick Thor/Jane two pack :P

Oh and I almost forgot, the head design is also really good, be it a bit dark compared to the official fig head. But it matches well with the PCB Endgame Thor head and fits in to a collection rather easily if you’re not looking to nit-pick every detail of every figure like the crazy person I am :)

OK, I’ll go ahead and nit-pick every detail: I’m not sure the arms needed that muscle printing??? Hard to tell...maybe it would look good with a muscle torso?

Andrew Cookston

Ooo I didn’t even think to compare them to a muscle torso! I still like the muscle print though, even if it is a bit much :P

Might be interesting to see if the colors and line work match..
