The Final Squad Shots! (Patreon)
Content
This entire series of eight builds took a very long time to work on. I think I had mentioned it earlier, but I started working on a handful of these as far back as when some of the first images of costumes were being leaked.
On average if I have the parts, I can cook up one BHz within a month or so, but with big collections like this it always seems to take a little longer somehow…
A good chunk of it was character coordination. Not only for the sake of parts /elements I had available, but also just picking a concise and small enough roster to keep my sanity in check, keeping a respectable number of them to feel like a proper sized squad.
Yes, I didn’t make Amanda Waller, or Savant or Javelin or The Thinker or Slipknot or Croc or that witch lady or Mongal or the fire guy or Idris Elba or or or... fuck I didn't even include that rat guy that Sean Gunn is playing! And yeah I know not all of these final builds are the movie versions compared to some that are the movie versions or even characters that are in the movie at all for that matter!
Shut up about it already!
I took a lot of those questions into consideration when not just building one at a time, but assembling the series of builds as a whole. I wanted to fit within a certain color palette to where each would stand out in their own way. Mostly prioritizing white, grey, blue, and yellow.
The Idea being that while they could be shot in pairs, they wouldn’t clash too much, and then while they’re grouped together they simultaneously stand out and blend in (I know that sounds weird but hear me out)
For example, while Boomerang is the only one with Dark Blue, he also has dark grey and white. Deadshot also has these two colors but bright read instead of dark red like Harley who only has a tickle of bright red. It gives Harley a distinctly more contrasting look from him while also retaining her screen accurate portrayal and using more black. Simultaneously Polkadot Man features bright red while using white as his main color. He could have had random colors like he’s normally portrayed, but it was intentional to how I handled each of them. So his ‘accent/independent color’ solely to him would be orange and there was a conscious design choice that he’s the only one to get that color… just like how Boomerang is the only one to have Dark Blue! And the whole thing loops back around again! Wow!
(see I’m not crazy, there was a method to all of them. This color theory could be applied to every single BHz build here where they each have a main color that accents/compliments another…. Rick Flagg? His main color is yellow! His solo color is camo green! His accent/pairing color is black! King Shark? Main is grey! Solo is Light Blue! Accent/pairing is white/gold/black! THEY ALL VISUALLY CONNECT TOGETHER BUT CAN BE INDEPENDENT BECAUSE THEY’RE A TEAM OF MISFITS JUST LIKE THEIR CHARACTERS IN THE COMICS GAAHAHHH)
*insert the always sunny conspiracy meme*
Oof..
*deep breath*
Anyway, I think what I’m trying to say is that I probably put more thought into these than I really needed to, but hey, that’s kinda what made it fun :P
But um… I think that just about covers it until I build more Brickheadz to torture you all with! Till next week or whatever, because I need a nap!
