Now when it comes to Thor’s hammer, to the best of my observations and studying, the lightning is a separate piece fused to the hammer element. I was under the impression that it would be removable, or possibly a solid hammer/lighting piece that was all molded in trans light blue, but nope, it was not!
Design wise, I find that lightning a bit spindly and busy. I would have preferred to see possibly just two or three strands of lightning rather than like the seven or eight Jaka slapped on it, but hey, it’s still cool and the transparency of the blue is decent :)
The loop is leather (or a leather-like material)! It’s something I haven’t seen in a custom piece before, implementing not only solid and transparent plastics, but also soft-goods too! Like that’s super cool!
The hair and cape are also quite solid parts, though that cape is a bit on the plain side, I’m really impressed at how flush the hair sits on the cape shoulders.
Now for those that are curious about Phoenix Customs Thor vs Jaka’s new Thor... no, the hairs/capes are not interchangeable :/
Granted one of the main reasons why is just how well shaped it is to match the curve of the cape! There’s no gapping around the shoulders at all (or any room to swivel the head for that matter) To be fair that’s a credit to their element design at just how smooth and tight those pieces are made to fit with one another
That hair also doesn’t look too bad with a standard Lego cape, though at that point I started to swap the hair and really started to like this fig… which I guess defeats the purpose of two thirds of the custom parts that ya pay for… so… well just take that opinion however you want.
Now all of that said, I preordered this fig at $110 back in early May! Of course I received it around early August which in my experience is an incredible turn-around rate for a fig of this quality! Only three months for a fig of this caliber while I’ve still got 2+ years in the waiting for some Christo figs!
Honestly with this fig and their recent Mark 7 Iron Man, Jaka is no longer a newcomer in my mind, but a full on proper customizer that I hope will be here to stay for many more figs to come! :)
