Well look who just showed up from Tracy Minifigs! And by “just showed up” I mean “it arrived around the mid holiday mental fatigue period that hits every year and I just couldn’t find the time to review it until now”

:)

Anyway, let’s take a peek at Abnormal’s first ever custom fig (a new brand as of late 2021). First impressions, I’m kinda shocked at how much they managed to cram into that tiny little tin! :P

Upon getting everything unpacked, King Shark here is more or less a printed pair of legs with a butt load of custom parts! So in the topic of printing quality like how I normally review figs is a little skewed this time, but I’ll do my best.

It came with two UV printed “posters” One being the collectors “card” if you wanna call it that. Plus a little Peacmaker Bomb fella (ya know… like from the moooovie)

The the pre-order bonus (or as some sites listed it as: The Deluxe Version) also included what was quite literally a second torso and a standard plain right green minifigure arm/hand.

For one thing, the design translation is fantastic. But that’s unfortunately the highest praise I can give it, because we all know that looks aren't everything. For one thing, the hips fit rather tightly to the two torsos and pose the risk of the collector pinching the legs too tightly to remove them and possible damage to the pegs that hold the legs to the hips.

But the biggest bummer about this big fella was his arms. One of the selling features (and pre-order bonuses, was that second “man eating” torso. Though it does little good when the limbs are so damn stiff that it rubs paint off this $115 custom figure :/

Not only that, but his hands were so tight that he couldn’t hold anything other than his little Peacemaker Bomb or else it would strip the insides of the hand and leave scuffing behind on the bar element.

Basically, other than his legs, he’s virtually unposeable without damaging the fig. So if you were looking forward to taking cool shots with him like I was, you’ll be pretty disappointed. Though for display purposes… it’s alright I guess. Abnormal could have either fixed this arm-housing problem before distribution, or just provided the collector with a second pair of arms all together.

But man it’s really a buzzkill when you can’t even get him to hold a walkie talkie or hold a fig over his head to rip apart!

Then of course the final (probably nit-picky) thing I find with this fig is the scale. Sure the custom molds are based around standard minifigure legs, but when next to another standard figure, he’s tiny compared to the film. But with some subtle scale editing or forced perspective, it looks quite nice (see final photos)

It’s just odd that if Abnormal was going to go through all the effort to design and mold this super cool looking torso, what was holding them back from scaling up everything and just molding some legs while they were at it… idk

All in all, it’s just… well it’s a rather odd custom minifig to add to the collection.

I kinda have a weird “I hate it but love it” mentality towards the thing. Because up to this point in January 2022, no other customizer has even come close to nailing the look of the character, but at the same time, the lack of posablity that comes with the fig is staggeringly disappointing.

It looks great, but handles like shit as some would say.

*sigh*

Well you can’t win them all right? Better luck on your next fig Abnormal!
