JakaBrick Phase One MCU Thor Review! (Patreon)

Here we go again, Jaka is bringing the heat with their newest Thor variant!
It’s the third Thor they’ve produced and my second Thor of theirs I’ve managed to snag!
Now of the two most recent Jaka releases (three of you count the US Agent Two-Pack… twice) this one has got to be my favorite!
Just looking at the thing, the silver shine to this figure is just superb! It matches all throughout the print of the entire figure (and the cape!)! It’s truly some impressive craftsmanship getting all the different parts to color-match. So just at a glance, I am already impressed!
Honestly, Jaka hasn’t been slacking in the details this season, the translation from screen to fig is nearly one-to-one! Even if I personally don’t like the hair piece outright, you can’t say they didn’t nail this look perfectly! (but it does look likes he’s got a bit of a cone head, no?)
Oh and the biggest improvement is that they fixed the weird face from their last Thor fig! Woo! It’s got much more of the “Lego look” this time around! :P
The hammer is great! It’s got the same faux leather in the handle that their previous fig had, only sans-lightning this time around. Now of course as a collector of life’s finer things because I’m a bit of a snob, I really respect the materials, ideas, and work that went into both of those hammers. However the photographer in me still finds that the big goofy loop looks a bit silly.
One thing that may or may not bug you, is that the hair and cape are really intended to go together hand in hand. There’s no swapping the two without some awkward floating hair either around the shoulders without the cape, or around the top of the head with different hair and the cape on.
The cape on it’s own is the same cape as the last cape, only with some slight cosmetic changes and a more subtle muted red. While it bears repeating, it looks more like a pillow case in the back than a proper cape. The printing around the neck and shoulder area is really great, sure!
It’s a shame though, because this was a good opportunity to update the piece to give it more of a flowing look… or something maybe slightly better than this… but they did not.
Oh well! There’s always next time!
Lastly, I preordered this bad boy back in February of this year, which is an improved turn around rate for Jaka as it was shipped out to me mid-April and got lost in customs for a little while. Not to mention that this was a nice rounded $100. A reasonable price for the quality here!
All in all, really glad to have finally gotten a Phase One version of Thor, let alone something made this well! It’s one of my favorite MCU Look’s Thor has gotten and it’s an improvement over Jaka’s last Thor variant. So thumbs up! Great work on this new one!
