L1N6's Kang The Conqueror! (Patreon)

Hey hey hey! It’s another amazing L1N6 fig! And even better yet, they made two of ‘em!
I absolutely adore these two figs! They’re so classically charged with that kooky 1960s design aesthetic that I’m a huge fan of! I couldn’t think of a better customizer to tackle Kang!
The magenta variant is practically identical to the 2016 Lego Marvel AoU Video Game version. All while the purple version in the same respect seems to be more of an adaptation of that digital design, only with a different helmet mold of course.
The one thing I really have to fault L1n6 on is the lack of print on the sides of the torso. That light green striping pattern is so well done that it’s a huge shame to have it just stop at the edges of the torso’s front and back.
Now sure, the source material from the Lego AoU Video Game didn’t have print on the sides of the torso either! But still I feel like these figs could have really benefited from it. Especially with just how absolutely plain the sides look without that bright green pattern!
Perhaps L1n6 thought this too? There’s still a belt that wraps around the base of the torso… but the lack of pattern just bugs me. Does it bug you guys too or am I just looking too strongly into this?
It had to have been a conscious decision not to, because the base plastic of these two torsos are purple and magenta. It’s done so that the color of the chest and shoulder area bleed upward and back over to the backside of the torso. It’s truly seamless, but begs the question, why would L1N6 print that plain bright green on the sides of the torso and not continue the pattern?
In the same regard, we gotta talk about the tops of the legs. Any pose you put Kang into you’re gonna see the pink/purple base plastic poking out from under the hips. It’s something little and a majority of folks that collect high end custom minifgs leave them in a neutral pose in some collectors cabinet somewhere so it’s not that big of a deal, but it is to me!
Okay cool it Andrew, you’re not finished yet.
Right, outside of that, the rest of both figs look fantastic! The wraparound print for the arms and legs are great! The facial designs are solid! And the quality of the print work is killer!
The custom helmets are neat and clean as well! They could be better thoug…. I was a bit bummed that the stud on the top of the pink version is too small for a brick connection to stay tightly, and even smaller still where a bar won’t fit inside the inner ring.
Genuinely the only thing that keeps these two from a perfect score are the little things. Everything else from the concept, design, and overall execution, leaves it to be a no-brainer to pick up!
