L1n6 Minifigures / Jin Customs Electro! (Patreon)
Content
Well this one was a surprise! It’s not very often we get a nice looking classic Spider-Man villain! It’s a well needed upgrade to my old knock-off fig that has been doing an adequate job until now! Also it’s a Jin fig that wasn’t a pain in the ass to get a hold of!
Wow! We’re off to a great start!
The colors are nice and bright on this fella! The yellow really pops and the yellow custom parts match the yellow of the fig print and plastic!
Boom! The review’s over! They did it! Time to go home!
…okay but seriously, let me try to fluff this up a little.
This is the first collab project where L1n6 and JinCustoms have joined forces! No doubt this fig was intended to be a pairing piece to Jin’s Comic Spider-Man (coming hopefully later this year if I’m lucky to snag one)
These two strong customizers of the community really showed some restraint for this fig’s design. I’ve said it before on how both of these two designers tend to push the envelope sometimes, and yet they didn’t this time around!
The very nature of this classic 60s inspired Electro suit is simple. It’s green! It’s yellow! It’s zappy lookin’! And they checked all three boxes without going overboard! There’s not extra lines or “modernization” to the design. It’s exactly what it needed to be!
The facial expression is a bit weak for me. The tiny smirky smile looks a bit to thin and spindly, however it might have been a conscious design choice so that everything on the face lined up with the headpiece. I would have much preferred a more expressive angry face… or even a second head at all would have been nice!
But on the topic of the custom headpiece, it’s a bit large, but the two colored aspect of it really raises the quality for me. The black on the one side just like how Max Dillion here used to be illustrated is captured really well! The yellow is glued to the black so I could see it snapping if you’re not careful, however the black stud connection isn’t too tight so I have no major quarrels with it!
Now the lightning bolts on all the custom parts are about ⅛” thick, I’d be absolutely devastated if I accidentally dropped this fig. The bolts from the armbands and mask get me worried that they’re gonna snap if it falls from a desk or MOC during a photoshoot…
They still feel somewhat sturdy in the hand at least. But I’m also not going to test the durability for the sake of this review (understandably… who do you think I am? Sid from Toy Story?!)
You’ll also be shocked to know that the poseability of the head isn’t affected at all by the large size! The lower two bolts on the mask clear both shoulders from any radius and I was very happy to find that out :)
All in all, for L1N6 and Jin’s first collab it turned out great!
I’ve got no major gripes or praises. Even at $88, the price feels fitting with the three nicely made custom parts included.
All in all, I’m happy to have picked one up! :)
