NostalgiaFigs Classic Captain America! (Patreon)
Content
Can you believe it! Somebody actually made a new classic Captain America minifig! We haven’t gotten one of these in ages!
BrothersFigure dropped their fantastic classic Cap a good five or six years ago now, so it was about time a new designer took it on! Granted there have been a few others that have tried (mainly Crosscheck that… for better or do worse - looked god awful) But here we are! Not only a great looking fig, but from a great junior brand that’s really stealing my heart!
NostalgiaFigs is really living up to their namesake with this little fella! It's their third fig to be produced, and it's anything but amazing! Well… outside of the cool simplistic packaging that roughed up my copy… :/
You can see in some of the early shots how the top and front of the cowl is a bit scuffed up from being shipped twice (once from the production house to resellers, then from the reseller to me). Be that what it may, I still absolutely love the Lego-Like half cowl! I love the armbands for the big gloves! I love the shield! I REALLY love the design!
Nostalgia has yet again solidified how good they are at designing Lego-Looking figures and they’ve yet again nailed it with this fig! It’s so damn clean! It’s so well established that at a glance, it’s like the image of what you think the old official lego fig looks like, only ramped up to eleven!
Gah! I just keep gushing over this fig! I love the classic stylings Nostalgia takes inspiration from! I love how thick the A is in the forehead! I love the heroic butt-chin! I love how the star on the torso is all warped out of shape like how John Byrne draws him!
Oh and get a load at just how bright the print application is! The whites are white, the reds are clean and sharp! The wings on the helmet are also nice and prominent!
I should probably pump the brakes a little though. As a custom minifig reviewer and internet celebrity, it’s my civic patriotic moral duty to point out that “technically” this is a plain-legged custom minifig.
Some people don’t consider dual molded legs as “plain” and others do. I’m perfectly fine with no print below the belt on a fig like this in context! It’s clean for starters, and Nostalgia made the conscious design choice to simplify the arm print to match them.
So in a technical sense, you’re just paying for customs parts from the torso up, but it doesn't bug me in the slightest!
All in all, I just wish it had some 360 print around the waist like the old BrothersFigure Cap has… but we’ll talk about that soon ;)
