Comparing this new Cap to the old BrothersFigure Cap is a bit like apples to oranges. That old BF fig (while pretty close to perfect) is better and worse in some places! Lots of little differences that I like and dislike about it now with the new Nostalgia fig in hand, so lets bite into them both!

I mentioned this in the solo review of Nostalgia’s Cap Review, but my only major disappointment when looking at these two figs side by side is the blank sides of the torso (that, and the belt buckle is blue)

The lack of 360 degree print certainly lends itself to look more like an Official Lego minifig, but also takes away from the premium nature of the collectable scene. Not that the Nostalgia fig really needed it, but it takes away just a little from the BF version.

But while the print doesn't wrap around all the way, the design is still very streamlined and clean. Much cleaner than BF’s in a lot of ways. BrothersFigure Cap was a technical achievement unrivaled at the time that I still haven’t seen anyone tackle as proficiently (although some newer LifeBrick figs are beginning to take the cake!)

Now of course the biggest and most fundamental change about these two (and even the era’s in which they were made in) comes down to the cowl design.

For one, the old BrothersFigure cowl looked a lot like the old Official Lego 2012 Batman Cowl from just a few years prior to this custom. Now looking at these two figs side by side, the biggest impressions I get are how modern Nostalgia’s custom fig looks with the half-cowl piece (more akin to the Official Lego Flash minfig). However the biggest benefit with this new fig being that it isn’t made out of rubber! 😎

Oh and of course Nostalgia’s classic shield also lends itself to the figure at this slightly smaller scale. If memory serves, BrothersFigure commissioned Brickforge to produce their funny looking two piece shields that (ya know, they looked the part) but continually wanted to separate from their L-Bar handles. So points to Nostalgia here for not trying to reinvent the wheel!

And of course the final thing to talk about is the skin tone print. It’s been argued to death since this fig came out whether or not BF intentionally printed it this shade or not, but since day one, I’ve never liked that head. It’s the biggest loss with the old BF fig vs this new Nostalgia one, and I for one am happy to have the newer upgrade so I can swap between the two! :)

All in all though, there’s something great to take away from both figs, but it’s even cooler to mix and match their parts!

For me, it's the nostalgia figs cap. I have that one and it feels like a figure Lego themselves could make with some great upgrades. Great review and comparison as always
